Generation Gap

Hi once again! I'm Jun Tomioka.

The day before yesterday, NHK announced musicians who will appear
on KO-HAKU SONGS FESTIVAL which will be on air on the 31st
of December.

This TV show is the most popular program in Japan
although it is becoming less popular gradually.

I didn’t know about half of the musicians.
They are popular among young people, but I am not
familiar with them because I am an old man.

When I was a child. All Japanese used to sing the same
popular songs. However, there is a generation gap now.

I am not sure whether I will watch the show or not
on New Year’s Eve,

Hangover

Hi once again! I'm Jun Tomioka.

The day before yesterday, I had a reunion.
We drank from 2 p.m. until the evening.

I had a hangover yesterday.
I was going to go sailing, but I cancelled it.

I realized I should be careful of overdrinking
since I am not young anymore.

Reunion

Hi once again! I'm Jun Tomioka.

Yesterday, I joined a reunion with my classmates in elementary
school. It’s been a while because we didn’t have it during
the pandemic.

We had a good time.
I hope we will see again next year too.

Gloves

Hi once again! I'm Jun Tomioka.

I read an article about Mr.Shohei Otani who is a popular
baseball player.

The article said that he contributed 60,000 gloves to
20,000 elementary schools in Japan hoping boys and girls
would become familiar with baseball.

Three gloves will be sent to each school.
Two gloves are for right-handers and one glove is for left-handers.
I thought Mr.Otani considered it very well.

It seems he likes baseball very much and he wants to spread
baseball among young people more.

The End of a Cliff

Hi once again! I'm Jun Tomioka.

I cheer for Hinako Shibuno who is a Japanese female golfer.
She plays in the U.S.A. tour and now she is on the edge of
a cliff.

She needs to remain within the 80th in the ranking to be
seeded for the next season, but her current ranking is the 81st.

Now, she is playing in the last tournament this year.
She needs to get a high position in this tournament to get
points for her ranking.

The tournament will run for four days.
The first two days are qualifying rounds.
She has to remain within the 65th out of 140 players.

She played well on the first day, but she was not able to play
well on the second day. I watched her play with worry.
After all, she barely passed the qualifying round.

She will play two more days.
She is still on the edge of a cliff.
I will cheer for her.
