Oreno Delivery

The day before yesterday, the 24th of Dec, we ordered a delivery
service of Italian full course dinner and enjoyed it at home.

This is operated by Oreno Corporation.
The company operates many restaurants such as Oreno Italian,
Oreno French, Oreno Spanish, Oreno Barbecue, and so on.

At first, the company opened standing-style restaurants which
provided high quality food by less expensive price.
Their strategy was to make profit by rotations of customers.
Since this style became very popular, the company expanded
their business.

But the boom ended and now almost every restaurant seems to
prepare tables and chairs.

And recently, they started a delivery service.
We enjoyed very good Italian full course dinner.
Due to the coronavirus situation, this service has become popular.

Oreno Corporation is a company, which always produces new ideas.

Arabic figures

I am currently reading a book titled ‘World History of Accounting
and Finance’ written by Mr.Yasuhiro Tanaka.
Mr.Tanaka is an accountant but in this book, he doesn’t describe
difficult things of accounting. We can enjoy the history about
accounting.

Accounting was developed in Italy in 15th Century.
I knew that one factor why it was developed and spread in Europe
rapidly was Arabic figures.

Before, people in Italy used Roman figures.
They are Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ、Ⅳ、Ⅴ、and so on.
And Roman figures didn’t have the concept of ‘0’and ‘digit’.
So, for example, ‘777’in Arabic figure is ‘DCCLXXⅦ’in Roman figure.
It’s troublesome.

When people adapted Arabic figures, they realized it’s easier for them
to understand figures and accounting system spread rapidly.

Nowadays, we use Arabic figures naturally but I understood it’s
an epoch-making invention.

Pumpkin

Yesterday, the 22nd of December, was the winter solstice.
It's the day which has the shortest daytime.
From now on, the daytime will become longer gradually.

By the way, pumpkin has been a famous food that we eat
during the winter solstice in Japan for a long time.

The harvest time of pumpkin is from summer to autumn,
but we can keep them for a few months.

Pumpkin contains a lot of good nutrients like vitamin A,
B1, B2, C, E, and so on.
Old people tried to eat pumpkin and get energy to overcome
a cold winter because they didn't have other good vegetables
in winter. It's ancestors' wisdom.

Nowadays, we can eat numerous kinds of vegetables even in winter.
But since pumpkin is very nutritious, let's eat pumpkin
for our health!

Change of Thinking Perspective

I read an interesting article on a newspaper about a change of thinking.

Nishijin is a Japanese traditional fabric made in Kyoto.
And It’s used for making kimono.

Currently, the demand for kimono market is decreasing.
In effect, Nishijin fabric makers are also having difficult time.

But one company has gotten a great attention at the moment.
It’s the Hosoo Company in Kyoto.

The one responsible for this is: Mr.Masataka Hosoo, the 12th president
of this company.
He used to be a musician and work for a jewelry company and eventually,
He took over his family’s business.

He had a bright idea of changing something that had lead to
the company’s success:
Before, the width of fabric was 32 centimeters just long enough
to make a suitable kimono. The width of all fabric for kimono
was 32 centimeters.

Mr.Hosoo made a change of business plan by partnering with
Nishijin fabric. For that, he developed the new machine that
automatically cuts a width of 150 centimeters.

Now, several famous brand names like the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Chanel,
Hermes, and Toyota, adapted Nishijin fabric for their products.

I strongly believe that we need to develop ideas and that change
of thinking will trigger innovation and lead to success.
