Hi! Jun Tomioka here.
Today is a national holiday called ‘Marine Day’.
The concept is that we Japanese thank marine’s benefit
and hope prosperity of Japan as a nation surrounded by seas.
However, I found an article about the problem of beaches.
It says that cities which give up operating public beaches
for swimming are increasing.
There are several reasons.
The demand for swimming in the sea is decreasing because of
the decrease of young people, the avoidance of sunburn, and
so on. Activities in summer are diversifying.
The side to accept people also has problems.
Owners of beach houses are becoming older.
They can’t hire young staff.
The prices for operation are increasing.
When I was a child, I used to enjoy swimming in the sea.
I felt sad when I read the article.
