In the situation that "N. Korean drones' intrusion" has ignited controversy in S. Korea, on Dec. 29 afternoon, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) conducted a "response & destroy military drill against N. Korean small drone" in Yangju ion Gyeonggi Province, but without live firing.
On that day, the JCS revealed that it would "conduct a training to respond & destroy small enemy drones" and "as a practical drill, we will upgrade response posture against N. Korea's aerial threat."

The drill, which was overseen by JCS Chairman Gen. Kim Seung-kyum, was a response operation against 2m class drone, and conducted aiming to improve procedure of practical operational execution.
The training this time was conducted in order to prepare an operation system optimized for the threat of small N. Korean drones -- in the situation that, on Dec. 26, even though S. Korean forces detected and identified five N. Korean drones that intruded into S. Korean territorial airspace, it failed to shoot them down.
