On June 29, Foreign Ministry announced that the Japan Maritime SDF confirmed that installation of maritime platform completed at the location where China one-sidedly proceed gas field development on the west side of the Japan-China intermediate line in the East China Sea, where a move toward the installation of structures was confirmed on June 17.
China was proceeding with the installation of structures in two locations in May and June, and it seems that the gas field excavation is ready at any point.

It's clarified on June 29 that Seoul considers an idea to establish a new fund to take over the compensation in so-called conscripted workers lawsuits in which the Supreme Court of Korean Supreme ordered Japanese companies to compensate.

It explained that it's a fund to allocate about 30 billion won (approx. \3.1 billion) of donations from Japanese and S. Korean companies and the nationals to compensation, Tokyo and Japanese companies that lost the cases are not going to participate in it.

It may be an acceptable proposal for Tokyo, which has asserted that "the compensation issue has been resolved by the 1965 Japan-S. Korea claim rights agreement."
On the other hand, persons concerning of the plaintiffs of the lawsuits show the position to reject the new fund idea, saying that "We can't accept any form of compensation which doesn't raise the responsibility of the defendant companies." Therefore, it's unclear whether it will be realized or not.
The plaintiffs have proceeded the procedure to seize, sell and monetizing the assets of the defeated Japanese companies.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will meet with U.S. President Joe Biden and S. Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol in Madrid, Spain in the afternoon on June 29 (in the night in Japan local time).
They will talk about how to deal with N. Korea, which repeatedly fires ballistic missiles and continuously develops nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, the prime minister has a policy not to hold a summit meeting with Yoon.

The trilateral summit meeting is the 1st one in four years and nine months since Sept. 2017.
Under the circumstances that N. Korea has allegedly completed been ready for the (7th) nuclear test, the Prime Minister sets up the meeting on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit.
The Prime Minister has made much of cooperation of U.S.-Japan & U.S.-Japan-S. Korea in order to resolve N. Korea's nuclear & missile and the abduction issue.
The U.S. is also positive, and on June 11, it held a U.S.-Japan-S. Korea defense ministerial meeting in Singapore and agreed to resume joint drills.

On the other hand, on June 28, the Prime Minister had a brief conversation with Yoon at a local dinner hosted by the King of Spain.
According to the S. Korean Presidential Office, the PM spoke to Yoon, and congratulated on Yoon's inauguration and the ruling party's victory in the unified local elections.
Yoon responded to say that "I wish your good results" in the UH general election on July 10.
In addition, the Prime Minister allegedly called for that "Let's make an effort to develop more sound Japan-S. Korea bilateral relations."
