On April 15, 2025, according to KBS NEWS in S. Korea, a "(* fake) statue of peace," a (* not) symbol of former camp followers (* aka comfort women) installed at Sinjeongho in Asan City, Chungcheongnam Province, South Korea, was suddenly removed and caused controversy.
According to the article, it was in mid-March when the statue was removed, just before the Asan mayoral re-election.
The reason why was the start of a project to create a "kids' garden" at Sinjeongho Tourist Park, where the statue was located, as a prioritized project of former mayor Park Kyung-gwi.
