New Year's Eve 2023

It was a little early, but I had Toshikoshi Soba for lunch.

Boiled raw soba with yam, topped with salmon kelp rolls, mekabu, and nameko mushrooms.

Last year, I spent New Year's Eve without preparing soba or zoni because I was undergoing fasting therapy for cataracts.

This year, I'm having a rich New Year's Eve with all the ingredients.

I am grateful for the protection and guidance that I have had to overcome over the long and thin years of this year.

How was 2023 for everyone?

I feel that 2023 is the year in which I discovered treasures within myself that I had forgotten, like the violets in the mountains that bloomed out of season.

This morning, a post from 6 years ago appeared on FB as a memory.

Six years ago today, I posted a handmade Christmas card that I received

from a second grade girl on my first Christmas since I started teaching phonics.

I felt nostalgic, so I wrote a comment and uploaded it.

When I deleted the post with no comments, the post I received a warm message from an acquaintance also disappeared along with it.

I was so frustrated that she is now in the 2nd year of junior high school? When I searched the warehouse for Misora's work from when she was in second grade, I was very moved.

``Misora ​​spent a week by herself making a Christmas card for her teacer,'' I remembered the shy look on her face as her mother spoke, and I was overcome with emotion for a moment.

Is it because I'm not used to using my smartphone incorrectly? It gave me a nostalgic time.

Yuzu bath

Today is the winter solstice, and I had my second yuzu bath of the season.

It's snowing outside, and the air is dry and cold.

We were hit by a sudden and intense cold wave, and it started to feel like winter.

If winter comes, spring won't be far away. Finally, let's continue to ride the waves of sunlight.
