Palau

Hi, Jun Tomioka here.

 

I read an article of the interview with Mr.Whipps who is

the president of the Republic of Palau in Nikkei MJ

newspaper.

 

He said that there are a lot of things influenced by Japan

in Palau. Palauan eat a lot of foods with soy sauce. There

are many words whose are Japan in origin. They are ‘Daijyobu’,

‘Daitoryo’, Chichi-band’, and so on.

 

I felt close to Palau by reading the article.

Palau has a lot of beautiful beaches.

Since I’m interested in diving, I want to visit there in the future.

Memorial Picture

I visited a photo shop to make a large picture.

The other day, we had a party to celebrate my mother’s

88 years old birthday.

 

We took some pictures at that time.

I wanted to hang up a picture of them on the wall.

 

At the photo shop, I transferred a photo data from my USB

to the machine at the shop by myself. Since I didn’t used

to do it, I asked some questions to a staff member.

I managed to finish it.

 

I put the large picture into a flame.

I will hang it up on the wall at my mother’s house.

Survivor’s Pension

Hi, Jun Tomioka here.

 

The system of the survivor’s pension in Japan will be

revised from 2028.

 

There is an unfairness between men and women in the system

now.  Female survivors can get the pension in their all

lives but male survivors can’t get it.

 

From 2028, both of male and female survivors can get the

pension during five years after their partners died.

 

This revise is advantageous to men but disadvantageous to

women. The present system is made by the idea that women

are housemakers.

 

I think men and women should work and raise children

together and if a partner dies, the survivor should

keep the family not depending on the pension.

Foreigners

Hi, Jun Tomioka here.

 

I read an article about old people’s home in Germany.

A manager said, “Many workers from foreign countries

work here. If the regulations against foreigners become

strict, we can’t operate our home.”

 

The situation seems almost same in Japan.

A friend of mine said, “My father lives in an old people’s

home. Many foreigners work there. A staff member from Myanmar

is very smart and kind. My father likes her very much.”

 

The other day, a political party whose slogan was ‘Japanese

first’ became very popular in the Upper House election.

The idea seems to avoid foreigners in Japan.

 

However, workers in Japan are decreasing rapidly because of

a decline in population.

We should consider about the foreigner’s issue more seriously.

Air-Conditioner

I got a call from a tenant of my mother’s building.

He is worried that an air-conditioner doesn’t work.

 

Hot days continue.

He can’t operate his bar without an air-conditioner.

 

I will help fix it.
