ヨブ記35章 エリフの弁論（4）正しい心で神を待ち望む
1．天に目を向けよ（35:1-8）
エリフは言います。ヨブよ、あなたは、自分を正義の勇士だとでも思っているのか。自分が神よりも正しいというのか（2節）。ヨブよ、あなたはこう言う。「私が過ちを犯す、犯さないが、果たして神に何の意味があろうか」（3節）。ヨブよ、そしてヨブのような人々よ、確かにその通りだ、しかし、自分や社会の暗部ばかり目を向けることを止めて神を見上げよ。天を仰げ（4節）。地上に雨が降ろうが、雲の上は、常に晴れている。確かに、地上のこととは相いれない天上の超越した世界がある。神は超絶した方で、人間がどんなに罪を犯そうと、いかに正しくあろうと、神には何の関係もない、神がそれでどうなる、というわけでもない（5-7節）。しかしこの神の至高性を、人はよく理解していない。人はわかったつもりになっているだけで、その実、神を人間の世界に引きずりおろしていることが多いのだ。
ところでエリフは、8節「あなたの悪は、ただあなたのような人間に、あなたの正しさは、人の子に関わるだけだ。」と語り、意図せずに十字架の贖いの思想に触れています。つまり、人間に正しさが認められ、神との交わりを得るとしたら、それはただイエスの贖いの故であり、私たちの義そのものが神の目に留まって受け入れられるなど、ありえないこと、それほど人間は卑しい存在であることをわからなくてはならないのです。「身代金を得た（33:24）」に続いて、ここもまたメシヤ預言的な部分なのでしょう。人は神に近付く正しい方法があることを知らなくてはならないのです。
2．神に近付く正しい態度を持て（35:9-16）
ともあれエリフは、ここで祈りが答えられない理由について、つまり神に近づく正しい方法について端的に触れています（9節）。力ある者が、何食わぬ顔で物事を進め、私腹を肥やすことはよくあることだ。そうした不正は社会にあふれている。そこで踏みにじられた者は、助けを求め、泣き叫ぶ。まるで獣のように叫ぶだけだ。実に惨めだ。そこで神を誤解してはいけない。神はあわれみ豊かな方だ。だから人が眠っている間にすべてを備え、新しい力も備えてくださる（10節）。だが、そのような創造主の温かな心を信頼し続け、感謝をもって神に近付く者はいない（11節）。ヨブよ、あなたもそうであってはならない。愚かに喚き散らさず、静かに神を待て（14節）。そして理解することだ。神の沈黙は静止ではない。そこには動きがある。大切なのは、正しい心で神の時を待つことだ。神は人の叫びを聞き洩らすようなお方ではない。人は、とりあえず物事を終わらせたことにして、記憶から消し去ろうとするものだ。しかし、神はそうではない。神は至高なるお方であるが、人間の救いのためにはどんな犠牲を払うことも厭わない。確かに、神は罪に堕落した全人類の救いのために、長い時をかけながらも、御子イエスをお使わしになりました。
エリフは言います。だから「訴えは神の前にある」という確信を持つことだ、と。イエスのゲッセマネでの祈りを思い出すべきなのでしょう。イエスは、神の御心を重んじて、自らに課せられた状況を静かに受け止め、神への従順を示しました。イエスはヨブのように自分に重きを置いて、不満をまき散らし、荒んで祈ることはなかったのです。苦難にあっては、神はいつまで聞いてくださらないのか、と不満を助長させるのではなく、「訴えは神の前にある」という確信に立ちましょう。エリフは言います。ヨブよ、あなたはその点において弁えがなかったのではないか（16節）。神の時を待つことにくたびれ果ててはなりません。また自分を特別だと思わず、神の前にへりくだって神の時を待つことです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

Job 35: Elihu's Argument (4) Waiting for God with a Right Heart
1. look to heaven (35:1-8)
Elihu says. O Job, do you consider yourself a righteous hero? Do you say that you are more righteous than God (v. 2)? Job, you say. "What does it really matter to God whether I err or not?" (v. 3). Job, and those like him, you are right, but stop looking only at the dark side of yourself and society and look up to God. Look up to heaven (v. 4). Though it rains on earth, above the clouds, it is always clear. Indeed, there is a transcendent world above the heavens that is incompatible with earthly things. God is transcendent, and no matter how much man sins or how righteous he is, it has nothing to do with God, nor does it matter what God does with it (vv. 5-7). But this supremacy of God is not well understood by man. People just think they understand, but in reality, they often drag God down to the world of man.
Elihu, by the way, says in verse 8, "Your evil only concerns men like you, and your righteousness only concerns the Son of Man." and unintentionally touches on the idea of the atonement of the cross. In other words, if righteousness is accepted in man and fellowship with God, it is only because of the redemption of Jesus, and we must realize that our righteousness itself cannot be accepted in the sight of God, that man is so lowly. Following "ransomed (33:24)," this must be another Messianic prophetic section. One must know that there is a right way to approach God.
2. have the right attitude to approach God (35:9-16)
At any rate, Elihu touches here in a straightforward manner on the reason why prayers are not answered, namely, the right way to approach God (v. 9). It is common for those in power to go about their business and line their pockets without a care in the world. Such injustice abounds in society. Those who are trampled on cry out for help. They scream like animals. It is truly miserable. Do not misunderstand God. God is rich in mercy. That is why, while we sleep, He prepares everything for us and gives us new strength (v. 10). But no one continues to trust in such a warm heart of the Creator and approaches God with thanksgiving (v. 11). Nor should you be so, O Job. Do not rant foolishly, but wait for God quietly (v. 14). And understand. God's silence is not stillness. There is movement in it. The important thing is to wait for God's time with a right heart. God is not one who hears the cries of men. People try to put things behind them and erase them from their memories for the time being. But God is not like that. God, the Supreme Being, is willing to make any sacrifice for man's salvation. Indeed, God used His Son Jesus, albeit over a long period of time, for the salvation of all mankind corrupted by sin.
Elihu says. So, he says, we must have confidence that "the appeal is before God." Perhaps we should remember Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane. Jesus showed his obedience to God by quietly accepting the situation imposed on him, respecting God's will. Jesus did not pray wildly, spreading his discontent, putting the burden on himself as Job did. In tribulation, let us stand in the confidence that "the complaint is before God," rather than encouraging our frustration by wondering how long God will not hear us. Elihu says. Job, have you not been discreet in this respect (v. 16)? Do not grow weary of waiting for God's time. Do not think of yourself as special, but humble yourself before God and wait for His time. I pray that today will be a good day for you.
