想定レート８０円大勢に　過去最高の水準　企業、円高定着に備え

Among major domestic companies there has been a movement that they are going to revise their estimated foreign exchange rate of yen in this business term, with many expecting it to be 80 yen a dollar. This is the highest as an estimated rate of yen by companies. This means they have to implement their management efforts in making their costs reduced or maintaing their competitiveness given the situation that super-high yen is the norm.

パナソニック　三洋の白物家電売却　中国ハイアールに　統合へ重複事業解消

Sanyo Electric Co.,a subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation,has decided to sell its washing machine and refrigerator businesses to a Chinese major home electronics maker Haier Group. Sanyo intends to have completed by around fiscal 2011 transferring to Haier Group its business bases of development, manufacturing and sales, which are located in Japan an South East Asian countries. As it is to be merged with Panasonic in January, 2012, Sanyo will settle the pending problem that some businesses overlap with those of Panasonic.

関電管内　１０％節電要請　制限令は政府見送り　供給余力低下で　　西日本全体１．２％不足　他地域も呼びかけ

It was learned Tuesday how the government is asking companies and households in the western part of the nation to save the consumption of electricity. In the service area of Kansai Electric Power Co. the government will ask people to cut the use of electricity by more than 10 percent from the peal level of power consumption in the previous summer. Other areas in the western part of the nation also will be asked to save energy, without specific targets.

These asking will be done because of so-called leeway of electricity supply has declined due to unexpectedly halted operations of a nuclear power reactor and other power plant in the KEPCO service region in recent days.

But these requests would not be a legal requirement such as those now imposed in the service areas of Tokyo Electyric Power Co. and Tohoku Electric Power Co.

The leeway of the utilities in the western region including KEPCO would fall to minus 1.2 percent.

Domestic demand-oriented companies are also moving their production sites overseas. Specifically,
Unicharm Coprporation will establish new production sites overseas in Asia and double the productuion of disposable diapers in Asia with some 60 billion yen invested over the next three years. In case of Shiseido Co. they will increase their global strategic brands, each of which exceeds 50 bilion yen in sales,from the present 3 to 6. The two companies' sales overseas combined are expected to go over those at home in three years.
