東芝、フォードに供給　ハイブリッド車専用　米に新工場　基幹部品の競争激化

According to sources,Toshiba Corporation has decided to supply U.S. automobile company Ford Motor Co. with driving motors, which are exclusively used for hybrid cars and key parts for such type of vehicles,on a large -lot-scale basis. Specifically,Toshiba will build a new plant in the U.S. for producing the motors, which will be scheduled to be installed in new Ford cars expected to be mass-produced from 2012. Judging that the demand for vehicle motors including those for electricity cars will be increasing, Toshiba has forestalled other electricity machinery makers in expading the business.

武田がインフルワクチン　米社と提携　１４年出荷めざす

According to sources close to the matter,Takeda Phramaceutical Com. will launch on producing influenza vaccine. Specifically, it will have a tie-up with U.S. medicine maker Baxter International Inc. to introduce cutting-edge technology in the field ,aiming at the first shipment of the products into the market in 2014.

中国人民銀　小幅上昇容認へ　G20前に改革姿勢強調　人民元「弾力性を強調」

People's Bank of China, the central bank of China, announced on Saturday that it will enhance the flexibility of the yuan's exchange rate. The central bank of China has been putting the renminbi fixed to the dollar virtually since July,2008, but it likely will change its stance to again allow the yuan to fluctuate in the currency exchange market. But the marging of its fluctuation is expected to be a limited one. The announcement this time is believed for China to take a posture of showing a positive satnce for its currency exchange rate before the Grpoup of 20 summit held in Canada from 26 this month.

同時通訳ー英語は英語で考えろー

よく、英語で話すとき、英語は英語で考えろ、日本語の発想法をいれるな等々言われます。これは間違いではないでしょうが、ここには落とし穴があります。

英語は英語で考えろというのは、英語は英語という言語の文法体系を持っていますから、英語で話す時には英語の文法に沿わなければいけないという当たり前のことを言っているの過ぎないと、わたしは思います。

同時通訳の修行を積んできましてわかることは、日本語も英語も共に向上させなければいい会議通訳者にはなれないということです。そして両方の言語間で瞬時にキャッチボールができる頭を鍛えることが重要と思います。ここで言いたいことは、日本人として生まれて生きていく限り、英語がうまくなりたいからと言って、日本語がどうなってもいいという考えカに立ってはいけないということです。外人崩れのような国籍不明のわけのわからない日本人になってはいけないのです。しっかりとした日本語がしゃべれかつ世界に通じる英語が話せる日本人でなければいけない、と思います。日本人が日本語による思考を捨てていきていくことは出来ません。そこで、その日本語に着目すると、漢字、中国語がたくさんあります。漢字とは概念を表すものです。ひらがなには概念ない。漢字で鍛えられた私たち日本人にとってそれに等価の英語に至るみちは難しくありません。つまり概念を表す漢字に相応する英語はまず基本的に存在する。その間を自由に行き来する能力が大事なのです。漢字を組合わせて新たな概念が出来たときその概念を英語でどう表すかも漢字そのものが教えてくれます。漢字と漢字の組み合わせの関係がカギとなるでしょう。我々にとって英語能力の向上とはどのような概念でも英語で表現できる能力の獲得とも言えます。英語表現とは、それら名詞、名詞句、名詞節を適当に文章中に並べることだとも言えます。

つまり、日本語、とくに漢字能力の向上とともに、それを等価の英語に変換できる能力が重要なのです。
