construction site

This is a photo taken one and a half months ago. On the site is going on the construction works of a building ,where after its completion the branches in Takamatsu of the central government's ministries or agencies will move to. The completion is probably around this autumn. The site is just around the zebra crossing which I described in yesterday's article and referred to as a awful one.Actually, the height of the building under construction is taller than that of the photo,which was taken about 50 days ago.I thought someday whether the wind around there blowing heavily especially in the winter season will be milder or not after its completion,and asked some people,including some experts working for a big gerneral construction contractor. Some said it will be surely stronger,and others said surely milder. It is still unclear how to prevent stong wind or how to protect ourselves from strong winds there.

awful zebra crossing(恐怖の横断歩道）

この横断歩道の付近は風が強いのです。すぐ先が海です。この写真は風のない日にとったので穏やかそうに見えますが、風が吹くと、体を前に倒さないと歩けない。夏は気にならないけれども冬は厳しいです。今週の末から第一回高松国際ピアノコンクールが始まります。26日まであります。
Around this zebra crossing, strong wind is often blowing in winter season.I really think at that time tall trees must be planted near the seashore ,over this place toward the blue sky in this photo, preventing strong winds here. On such a strong wind blowing, most people bend their bodies forward to facilitate their walking. Such is the case, I name this spot a awful zebra crossing. At the neaby facility ,Sunport Hall, the first Takamatsu International Piano Competition is to be held from late this week. The competion last until March 26. Some 60 young player,who are eager to become a great pianist,from all over the world, participate in it. I am going to participate in voluntary-interpretor works.

昨日の日曜日に高松ライオンズクラブの５０周年記念の式典、receptionがありまして、海外からライオンズクラブの仲間が集まってくれました。前夜際で私の前に座られた台湾からの人々、三人がそろって林さんでした。それで私の隣のセントピータースからこられたウォルドマンさんに話したのです。林は木が二つ。三つだと森だと。すると彼は、私の名前もドイツでは、森の人の意味だといっていました。その前日私は与作を歌ったのでした。漢字には意味があります。それを紹介するのは面白いくて話が弾みますね。たとえば、藤谷is(means) valley full of wisteriaでしょうか？　滝川is(means) waterfall and river ,and I am good at swimmingなんかは面白いと思いませんか。萩原is(means) bush clover and plain ( field) .
少し硬い話になりますが、漢字に対応する英語がわかると、おそらく、こうした時の話は尽きないで延々と続くのでないか。それは知的な遊びとして面白いと思うわけです。かつ英語の語源の知識があると、結構面白い、話ができると思います。

Dear the members of St Petersburg Lions Club

Dear Sirs,Ladies and Gentlemen,my blog readers:
The name of this blog's opeartor is goo1214_1948,meaning a man born on the date of December 14 in 1948. Its human name is K.Itoh. And he now belongs to Takamatsu Lions Club. The club will celebrate its 50th anniversary tomorrow ,on the day of March 5, 20006.The club has some sister clubs in foreign countries. One of them is St Petersburg lions Club. St petersburg is a sister city of Takamatsu city. I think the reason the two city have such a relationship is that there are some resemblance such as city's center being near the sea, or having many sunshine days through the year.St Petersburg city is in Florida,facing the Tampa Bay.President of St Petersburg Lions Club, Butt Wildmann, visited Takamatsu commemorating Takamatsu Lions Club's 50th anniversary. I make a proposal to Mr. Widmann to put articles concerning him in Takamatsu on my blog so that all the members of his club can soon see it. He stays in Japan until March 10th. This is his first trip to Asia.

I am a member of Takamatsu Lions Club. The name is K.Itoh. Mr.waldmann is enjoying staying in Japan. I first met him the day before yesterday. In the afternoon of the day, he visited Mayor of Takamatsu city, Masuda,and exchange a friendly words with him. The photo is the one at that time. This is an article on the following day in a newspaper, and also in the afeyrnoon the scene was broadcast in a TV news.Mr. Waldmann said at that time " Takamatsu is very beautiful city surrounded by the sea and rich in natural things. It is much more than I ecpected. Next time I want to come with many colleagues of mine." Respondin his words,Mayor Masuda said,"I expect you to have a good time here and promote friendship with many people here." At last minute at the meeting , Mr.Waldmann said, "Hey,Mayor, I want you to hire me as a part-time sumo wrestler,please. Iwould come again." all the people there bursted into laughter.
Yesterday, we enjoyed eating grilled chicken having drinks,and singing Karaoki songs. Mr. Waldmann sang MY WAY of Frank Sinatra ,and a song of Ray Charles. I sang a Japanese song of Yosaku,which is placed on my blog on the date of Feb.17,titled by [Yosaku, I sing the song in English].

around this season-camellia-

Around this season, flowers begin to bloom here and there,in fields and
gardens.Also on roadsides ,river banks ,and mountains.This photo was taken recently in a garden of a house. There are lots of flowers bloomong and also lots of buds coming out as flowers. On the foot of the tree are scattered flowers. In the backdrop,you can see blue sky. The combination of the blue sky and green and red colors of camellia tree,I believe,makes you feel comfortable.Sring has come.
