ガソリン給油 Gas Refilling

本日昼休みに車の給油をしようとガソリンスタンドに立ち寄りましたが、何故か店員は私の方を見てもまったく近寄ってきません
大きな声で「満タン」と言ってもニヤニヤしています
そのうちスタンドのオーナーみたいな人が出てきて、停電だから給油できないとか
そうか！給油のポンプは電気で動かしているんだということに気がつきました
モーターの火花で引火したりしないかと余計な心配をしてしまいました
同じ店に帰りに寄ると、普通に営業していましたので、２００ドル分だけ給油しましたが、なんだか少ないような気がします（ソロモンは現在＄10.5＝約125円）
次回は満タンにしたほうがよさそうです

Today at the lunch time I went out to the Gas stand for refilling the petrol but the sales boys didn’t come to work in spite of they recognized me.
I told them aloud “fill up” but they still smiling and didn’t come.
After then a man seemed the shop owner came to me and said, “electricity break down”.
I realized that the fuel pump was driven by the electric motor.
It was none of my business but I had worried about the explosion of motor sparking.
I went to the same stand on the way to back home, they worked commonly and I refilled only 200 dollars but I felt little less.（Current price in Solomon $10.5＝about \125)
Next time it could be “fill up”.

ムクドリの死 The Death of a Starling

実は昨日隣のお父さん犬が来ているときに、軒下のムクドリが巣立ちをしました
といっても雛がもう飛べるかどうか解らないのに、見切り発車で巣から飛び降ります
充分に飛ぶ力があれば地面に落ちる前に、どこか近くの木の枝に止まることができますが、不十分だと地上までバタバタと羽ばたきながら落ちてきます
地上から飛び立つ力はありませんので、地面や草むらをピョンピョンと飛び跳ねながら移動します
親鳥が近くで見守る中、坂を上って高い崖のようなところへ移動し、そこからふたたびジャンプします
我が家の裏庭には格好の場所があり、そこが練習場所になります
昨日は３羽の雛が巣立ち、そのうち２羽はブーゲンビリアの枝に止まって、そこからほかの潅木の枝を伝ってどこかへ行きました
しかし１羽は地面に着地して、数秒後ピョンピョンと跳ねているときに、お父さん犬の目に留まってしまいました
私が制止したときはすでに手遅れで、親鳥がギャーギャーと鳴き叫ぶうちに、雛のところへ全力疾走で行って、いきなりパクリと喰いつきました
親鳥がお父さん犬の頭を狙って爆撃してもまったく気にせずに、くわえた雛を振り回したり前足で踏んだりしていましたが、そのうちに抵抗する力も尽きてぐったりしてしまいました
犬は相手が動かなくなったら、興味がなくなったのかそのまま放置してほかの場所に行って遊んでいます
おそらく最初の一撃で致命的な傷を負ったと思われ、絶命までには長くはかかりませんでした
タイガーは一部始終をそばで見ていましたが、自分は手を出そうとはしません
親鳥は少し離れたところから見ていましたが、犬が去ったあとに地上に降りてきて子供の亡き骸を前に呆然としているように見えました
私にとってうっとうしいムクドリですが、無情な生存競争を目の当たりにして、複雑な心境です
　
Yesterday when the father dog visited to Tiger the baby starlings had left their nest.
I saw this scene about 6 months ago at same place.
They dive from the nest at 6m high and flapping their wings to the nearest twig but sometimes they drop to the ground.
They don’t have enough power to fly from the ground and skipping to the higher place for diving and try to jump again under the watching of their parents.
There are several suitable spots in my back yard for this practice.
Yesterday three baby birds dived from the nest and two of them captured the twig of the bougainvillea and flied away.
But other one couldn’t catch the twig and landed and jumped on the ground.
A few second later unfortunately the father dog found it and run to it very fast.
During the parents birds were screaming the dog bit it suddenly.
The parent birds attacked to the head of the dog but he didn’t care at all and swung and stamped.
After a while the baby bird was worn out the resistant power and became not moving anymore.
When the object didn’t move the dog seemed to loose his interest and left it.
Probably the bird got the fatal injury by the first attack of the dog and it took not so long time to die.
Tiger watched all of them but he didn’t do anything by himself.
The parent bird watched from a little far place and after the dog went away it came down and stood by the body of the baby.
It seemed struck dumb.
The starlings are very much troublesome for me but watching such a miserable scene of the struggle for the survival I felt complexities.

疑惑解消 The Suspicion Has Been Dispelled

今朝家事を済ませて、スーパーに買い物に出かけようとすると、隣家のお父さん犬がタイガーと遊びに来てくれました
そのままゲートの中に置いて出かけて帰ってみると、彼の額に傷があることに気がつきました
比較的新しい傷で、傷口はまだ塞がっていません
昨日書いた「疑惑の血痕」の理由がやっとはっきりしました
おそらく木曜日の朝に彼が一度我が家のピロティに入ったときに、突き出している鉄筋に頭をぶつけて怪我をしたんだろうと推測して、血痕をたよりにその現場を探しました
すると予測どおり、一つの突き出した鉄筋の先端と周囲に血痕を発見
この血はタイガーでなく、お父さん犬のものだったようです
しかしタイガーが元気が無かった理由ははっきりせず、しかし今朝はとても元気良く遊んでいますので、理由を追求するまでもないようです





This morning, after I finish the homework when I was going out for shopping to the super market the father dog of my neighbor came and played with Tiger.
I left them in the gate and went out.
Coming back home I found the injury on his temple that seemed very new and the wound was not closed enough.
The real fact of the “suspicious bloodstain” was going to be clear.
Probably at the Thursday morning when he came into the piloti with Tiger he might hit his head to the iron rod stuck out from the concrete.
I found the bloodstain on the tip of the iron rod stuck out and bend from the concrete floor.
The blood was not Tiger’s but the step father’s.
However the reason of Tiger’s behavior was still not clear but he becomes much vigor than yesterday and it must not be necessary to investigate.

疑惑の血痕 Suspicious Bloodstain

昨日帰宅してからタイガーの様子がちょっとおかしいんです
食欲はあるのですが、元気がなくすぐに座り込んだり寝そべったりします
昨日はあまり気にしなかったのですが、今日も同じ状態が続いているので、身体を点検しましたがとくに痛がるとか傷跡などは見当たりません
ただ何となく体温が高いような感じがします
ピロティのいつも水を入れて置いてある容器が庭の真ん中にあって、底に歯型の穴が開いています
そしていつも水を置いている付近にいくつかの血痕がありました
大出血ではないですが直径１ｃｍから２ｃｍぐらいの赤くて丸い跡が１０個ほどあり、明らかに血液でタイガーのものとしか考えられません
そこでふたたび身体検査をすると、前足とお腹の毛の白い部分に少し血液らしいものが確認できました
口の中を調べましたが、とくに傷は見当たりません
何回か階段から落ちたあとの状態にも似ていますので、どこか高いところから落ちたのではないかと、崖の下を点検しましたが外の草むらは雨で流れて血痕が確認できません
犬が鼻血など出すかどうかわかりませんが、もしかしたら鼻血かも
このまま元気になってくれればいいのですが、明日も続くようでしたら獣医に連れて行こうと思います

Since yesterday I came back home, the behavior of Tiger seemed unusual.
He has enough appetite but looked dispirited and liable to lie.
Yesterday I didn’t think so serious but it continued also today.
I investigated his body but could not find any injury or the sore part and felt slightly higher temperature.
The water cup, which I put at the piloti with half filled water for Tiger was in the garden with small hole of teeth marks.
Also I found the bloodstain around the piloti.
Not much bleeding but about ten of 1 to 2 cm diameter stain there and it must be Tiger’s.
I checked Tiger’s body again and found tiny bloodstains on his front leg and chest.
I checked the inside of his mouth but nothing was found.
His symptom looked like the behavior that just after dropped from the stairway and I thought he dropped from somewhere high place.
I checked the entire cliff like point in the premises but the rain had washed out all things and I couldn’t find anything.
I’m not sure that the dog bleeds from the nose but it may be possible.
If he will still seem not good tomorrow morning I’ll take him to the doctor.

育ての父親 The Step Father

隣の家に２匹の成犬がいますが、彼らは近所で生まれて親に育児放棄された仔犬たちを育てるとても心優しい親犬です
オスとメスで彼らの関係は夫婦なのかそれとも兄妹か不明ですが、２匹はそっくりでメスが母乳を与えオスは仔犬たちが平等にお乳を飲めるようにアシストします
この件は昨年１１月１２日の記事でご紹介しました
タイガーはこのオス犬によくなついており、私が出勤時にゲートを開けると外に出てこの犬めがけて走っていきます
私が車を出してゲートを閉める前にタイガーを呼ぶと、驚いたことにこの犬がタイガーを連れてくるのです
まだタイガーはこの犬の股の下に入ってしまう大きさですので、彼はタイガーを身体の下に入れた状態でいっしょに歩いてきて、閉まりかけたゲートの中に誘導します
初めてこの光景を見たときには偶然だと思っていたのですが、その後ほとんど毎日同じことをしてくれるので、意図的にやっていることだと理解しました
タイガーがまだ隣の家でこの育て親のもとにいたときの写真を見つけましたので、ご紹介します
タイガーは私が引き取ってから太ったとよく言われますが、ほかの仔犬に比べて最初からかなりデブの短足だったことがよくわかります

There are two adult dogs in my neighbor house and they are so kind and gentle dogs.
They are feeding any orphan puppies which were abandoned to care by their parents.
They are a male and a female and not sure the relationship between them a couple or siblings.
But they have very similar shape, hair and color.
The female gives milk to puppies and the male stands by and assists to give the impartially opportunity for all puppies.
I described this topic on this blog at November 12th last year.
Tiger takes to this male dog still now and when I open the gate to go to work he runs to this dog.
If I call Tiger to close the gate, surprisingly he takes Tiger into the gate.
Tiger is still much smaller than this dog and he walks with Tiger under his legs and leads him into the half closed gate.
When I saw this first time I thought it was by chance but he did it almost every day and I understood that it was his intentional action.
I introduce some pictures that Tiger was still under their protection at the beginning of November.
People often says that Tiger becomes fat after I got him but these pictures show he had already fat body and short legs in this moment.
