契約 The contract

今日は家の契約をしました
まず大家さんにホテルへ迎えにきてもらい、一緒に家具の搬入の様子を見に行きました
ベッドは2台入れてくれるそうですが、シーツとか枕は自前で用意しなければなりません
またエアコンを無心してみましたが、ソロモンの家庭では一般的でないので、必要なら自分でつけるのは構わないと言われてしまいました
雨季にはちょっと暑いかもしれません
そのほかの調度品はやはり自前で揃えることになりますが、このたび帰国される専門家の方がいくつか譲ってくれるということですので、それを使う予定です
家は広い庭付きで、改装してからは誰も住んでいないということです
庭は畑として使ってよいと許可をもらいましたので、野菜隊員のＫ君に活躍してもらおうと思います

Today I made a contract for the rental house.
Mr. Waetara the landlord picked me up and went to the house together and checked the furniture installation.
He provides two beds but I have to prepare the sheets and pillows by my self.
I asked him to provide the air conditioner but he didn’t accept it because it is not common in Solomon and he said I would be able to put it by myself.
I will buy other items what I need from the volunteer who will go back Japan.
The house seemed quite new and I am the first tenant after improving.
In the big garden I can farm any plant and I will ask to make vegetables to Mr. K who is the agricultural volunteer.

大家さん The landload

昨日電話で新居のオーナーであるオーガスティン氏と話をしました
現在家具を搬入中であること、確認の上さらに必要な家具があれば交渉可能であること、本日の午後2時に現場に契約書を持参して、合意できればサインすることなどを話しました
また契約書のドラフトに支払いは小切手でおこなうと書かれていたので、銀行に行って先日開設した口座で小切手を使えるように申し込みをしました
小切手帳は7月1日に窓口で交付されるそうです
自分の小切手を持つのは始めての経験なので、ちょっとドキドキします

Yesterday, I phoned Mr. Augustine Waetara who was the owner of the house.
We talked about that furniture were going to be installed, it was negotiable if any further furniture were necessary and I will visit there at 2 pm today with the draft of the contraction and when we will agree upon it we will sign on it.
I found the words in the draft that I have to pay the rental fee by check every first day of the month, I went to the bank and applied the checkbook for my account which I opened last Tuesday.
The checkbook will be provided on July 1st. It will be the first time for me to use the check by my self and I’m little bit exciting now.

お墓と慰霊碑 The Cemetry and the Monument

昨日病院を訪問したあと、新隊員全員を中原調整員が1997年にソロモンで事故死した隊員のお墓と、太平洋戦争の戦没者慰霊碑に連れて行ってくれました
お墓はドミトリーの近くにある共同墓地の中にひっそりと建っていました
全員で墓石の掃除をして冥福を祈ってきました
またその後ホニアラ市内を見下ろせる丘の上に建立された戦没者慰霊塔に参拝しました
丘からは市内が約270度見下ろせ、周囲には花がたくさん咲いています
この狭い土地でわずか2年の間に、日本軍戦士が2万人以上亡くなったと思うと、あらためて戦争の悲惨さを感じさせられました

Yesterday, after visitting the hospital Mr. Nakahara took all of new volunteers to the cemetry of the JOCV who had died at Solomon by accident in 1997 and the memorial tower of the world war the second.
The stone was built in the public cemetry which was located at closed place of the JICA domitory.
We cleaned up the stone and prayed his soul.
After then we went to the memorial tower which was built on the hill where we could look down around about 270 degrees of the Honiara city.
Thinking about that over 20,000 Japanese soldires had died in two years in this small area, I realized the misery of the war again.

　

　

病院訪問 Visit the Hospital

今日は調整員の中原氏と病院を訪問しました
出迎えてくれたのは、最近着任したばかりのピチャカ医師でおそらく副院長あたりのポジションです
院内をひとまわり案内してくれました
病院はサモアにくらべてかなりきれいで、各セクションもきれいに整頓されています
最後に私の職場になる医療機器部門へ行き、そこでカウンターパートになるニヴァ氏と技師のダグラスに会い、来週から来れるだろうと告げました

Today I visited the National Refferal Hospital with Mr. Nakahara.
At the hospital Dr. Pichaka　the vice director who sat the position very recently welcomed me and took around the hospital.
The hospital was a little neater than the Samoa National Hospital and every section was clear and all things were put in order.
Finally we met my counter part Niva and engineer Douglas and I told them that I will work at begining of next week.

休日 Holiday

昨日は土曜日、ソロモンに上陸して初めての休日です
ホテルで朝食をとって部屋でくつろいでいると、電話が鳴りＪＯＣＶが下にきているとのこと
土曜の昼ですべての商店が閉まるので、買い物に行きませんかとのお誘いでした
すぐに支度をしてホテルから近いショッピングセンターへ
ソロモンのバスを初体験しました　トヨタのハイエースの11人分座席のあるもので、運転手のほかに料金徴収係の少年が乗っています
２ドル（28円）の定額料金で便利ですが、満席の場合は通り過ぎてしまいます
ショッピングセンターはかなり大きく、価格も少し高めだが、中国製品のほかにオーストラリアあたりからの輸入品も入手可能です
クラッカーとスライスチーズ、ベビーパウダー、髭剃りなどを買って来ました
夕方からはドミに行ってそこから、全員で中原調整員のお宅に夕食をご馳走になりに行きました
町からはちょっと離れていますが、ガードマンつきのとても素敵な家でした

Yesterday was the saturday and it was the first holiday since we arrived atSolomon.
After taking a breakfast, the room phone rang and some JOCVs had come to the front and they called me to go shopping together.
They taught me that all shops will close at the noon of the Saturday.
We went to the nearest shopping center with bus and it was also the first time for me.
Japanese Toyota Hiace which had 11 passengers sheets stops at the corner of the street and we can get very easy for paying 2 SD but if it is full sheet it passes through.
The shopping center was very big and not so clouded.
We can buy not only Chinese products but also some inport goods from Australia.
I bought some foods and shaving razors.
In the evening we visited to Mr.Nakahara's house who was the volunteer coordinator in JICA local office.
He invited all of us to the dinner and some of JOCVs went there earlier than us and cocked something.
His house with a gard person was very nice and neat.
