挨拶回り Greeting Around

今日は病院勤務の最終日です

各部門のお世話になった人たちのところを回ってご挨拶をしてきました

思いがけない人から声をかけられることもありとてもうれしいことでした

しかしながらやはりみなさん業務中で十分なご挨拶ができませんでした

私のカウンターパートが6月14日に送別会を開いてくれるというので、そのときにもう一度会えなかった人たちを訪ねようと思います

お昼にフィッシュアンドチップスを10人前買ってきて、メインテナンスの仲間と一緒に食べました

 

Today was the last day to work at the hospital for me.

I walked around the hospital and greeted to the people who I had the relationship in my job.

Sometimes unexpected person gave me a greeting and I was so happy.

However most of the people were still in a working time and I couldn’t see all of them.

My counterpart is planning the farewell party for me on 14^th June and in this opportunity I will visit again to persons who I didn’t see today.

At the lunch time I bought 10 packet of the fish & chips and eat together with maintenance fellows.

もったいない Wasteful

今日は職場で身辺整理をしました

机の引き出しに詰め込まれたガラクタと不要書類を整理して、裏側が白い紙はすべて半分に切ってメモ用紙を作りました

この国では「もったいない」という言葉や感覚がほとんどなく、ちょっとメモをしたい時も新しいコピー用紙を惜しげもなく使います

私が紙の再利用をするのを見て不思議そうな顔をしています

公共の電気代や消耗品代を節約するという感覚が定着するには、まだ10年以上はかかりそうです

 

Today I put my job affairs in order.

Throwing all rubbish and not necessary documents in the drawers of the desk and if the other side will be reusable I cut it and made the memo pad.

In this country people don’t have the word and sense of “wasteful” and if they need only a small memo paper they use the new copy paper without regret.

When I cut the old papers to reuse they watch me with wondering.

It will take another over 10 years to have the sense of saving the electricity or consumables of public.

燃料計修理 Fixing the Fuel Gage

昨日月曜日はウィット・マンデーとかいう休日でした

昼食を済ませてからJICAドミへ顔を出すと数人のボランティアがいて、ちょうど豚汁を作ったからということで、ゴチになりました

しばらくすると自動車整備隊員のM君がマキラから戻ってきたので、早速車の燃料計修理を手伝ってもらいました

先日から何回かシートを外して、燃料タンクを露出するまではやっていたので、約5分で準備完了

先日作成した専用治具を使って、燃料タンクの蓋を外そうとしましたが、固くてなかなか回りません

そこでM君登場で、彼が力いっぱい回すと徐々に蓋が緩み、最後には完全に外せるところまできました

そこで先に燃料ポンプに接続されている燃料チューブを外して燃料が漏れないようにクランプをかけます

それから蓋を完全に取り払い持ち上げると中から燃料ポンプと燃料計のセンサーが現れます

しかしそれらが一体になっていて、開口部よりも大きいため取り出すことができません

しかしよく見ると、ポンプの部分とセンサーの部分は合体されているものの別のもので、その結合部を外して、別々に取り出すことに成功しました

私の予測通り、燃料センサーの3本の配線のうち2本が切れています

狭い車内では作業が難しいので、外した部分だけを屋内に持ち込んで修理開始です

電気配線は半田付けではなく、圧着端子ですので交換部品はありません

元の端子を外してから新たに線を圧着して完了です

この作業に約1時間かかりました

すべてを元通りに組み上げてエンジンをかけると燃料計の針が徐々に上がってきて、満タンから20%下あたりまできました

修理大成功です

これで車の売価をねぎられる要素はほとんどなくなりました

Yesterday Monday was the public holiday named Whit Monday.

After having a lunch I went to the JICA dormitory.

Several volunteers were there and they cooked the pork soup and provided it to me.

After a while JOCV M who was the car mechanic had arrived from Makira province and I asked him to help for fixing the fuel gage of my car.

I already several time practiced to disclose the fuel tank and I removed the sheet and stood by for him within only 5 minutes.

I tried to turn the rid of the tank using the special too that I made for this but it was too tough and not moving.

Then he tried to turn it with his full power and it slightly moved.

Finally it moved smoothly and before moving out I removed two fuel tubes and clamped them to avoid the fuel leaking.

Then lifted up the rid completely and the fuel pump and the fuel level sensor appeared.

However they were connected into one and bigger than the opening.

Watching them carefully and found they were reconnect-able and I disconnected them and took them out from the tank.

Two of three wires from the level sensor had broken as I expected.

We moved with the disassembled part to the in house because not enough space to fix it.

The electric wiring in the vehicle is often used compressed terminal instead of the solder bonding so we don’t have any spare parts.

We removed the terminals to reuse them and reconnected all.

Reassembling all and tried to turn the engine key the fuel gage came up slowly and reached about 80% of full.

The fixation of the fuel gage was very much successful and no more reason of to be haggled the price of the car.

おめでとうタイガー君 Congratulations Mr. Tiger

昨日の昼下がり、ボランティア調整員のMさんがひょっこり私の自宅を訪ねてくれました

彼は私が帰国した後に引き続きこの家に住んでくれることになっており、そのときにタイガーをいっしょに引き取ってくださるということでした

彼は今まで犬を飼ったことがないのと、業務出張のあいだに食事をだれかが与えなければならないなどの問題があり躊躇していたのですが、飼ってみることにしたということです

私もかつて犬を飼った経験はありませんでしたが、一人暮らしで帰宅したときにどれだけ癒されたことでしょうか

また近所の家はみんな泥棒に入られているのに、私の家だけ無事なのは彼らのおかげもあると思います

でもほんとうに良かった

なあタイガー！そしてありがとうMさん

 

 

Early afternoon yesterday Mr. M the JICA volunteer coordinator visited my house.

He is engaging to live in this house after I go back to Japan.

Then he told me that he decided to succeed to feed Tiger with him.

He has never fed a dog and it will be difficult to give foods during his business trip, so he hesitated to have a dog.

But he decided to have a dog.

I have neither fed a dog ever but during the single life in this country when I come back home, he healed me so much.

Also all of my neighbors had harms by the thieves but only my house was no harm.

It must be dog’s contribution.

Anyway, “congratulations Tiger” and thank you so much Mr. M.

夏場の昼食 The Lunch in Summer time

日曜日のお昼は、一人で食べるとなかなか気合が入らないものです

そこで簡単に夏場の定番「そうめん」

ただ茹でて水でさらして水切りしたあと器に入れて冷水を注ぎます

やはりガラスの器が涼しげでいいものです

先日Y. Sato商店で買ってきたそばつゆ（追い鰹）にネギ、そして海苔を細く切って乗せればOKです

やはり夏場はそうめんですね

ということはソロモンでは1年中そうめんを楽しめるということです

 

 

The lunch for Sunday is one of the troublesome task.

Then today’s lunch was the standard of the summer time “soumen”.

Just boiling and wash out with the water and put it in a bowl and add cold water.

It could be the glass bowl to feel cool.

I bought the soba soup at the Y. Sato shopping center few weeks ago.

Putting the soup and chopped spring onion in the small bowl and put the fine chopped dried sea weed.

It was pretty good in summer time means through the year in Solomon Islands.
