PentatonixのImagine

ビートルズを初めて聴いたのは中学生１年生の時。「ハロー・グッドバイ」だ。その少し前のフランク・シナトラの「夜のストレンジャー」とともに、思春期の入り口に立った頃の強烈な想い出だ。シナトラはそれ以来、しばらくご無沙汰していたが、ビートルズは「バック・イン・ザ・U.S.S.R.」などの格好良いヒット曲を夢中で聴いた。解散した後も、ジョン・レノンの曲が良かった。取り分け「イマジン」が素晴らしかった。ヒットした当時は暗い青春まっただ中の多感な高校生。チープな知識でもすぐに分かる歌詞。
しかし、この曲を含めて、ジョン・レノンの曲の多くが余り音が良くない（と思う）。それを見事にブラッシュアップし、蘇らせたのがPentatonixだ。相変わらず素晴らしいハーモニーと曲の持つメッセージ性を生かした表現が素晴らしい。ご堪能あれ。
