Foreign investors are still favouring Japanese shares

Soon after the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis, many foreigners (called gaijin in Japanese) fled the country. Insulted Japanese nicknamed them flyjin. Even the head of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Atsushi Saito, heaped scorn on them. But maybe they now deserve some credit for greasing the wheels for the market recovery. Time to change their name again, to buyjin?

日本株：ようこそ、バイジンさん 2011.06.07（Tue）

震災後に逃げた時は「フライジン」と呼ばれたけれど・・・

　地震、津波、原子力災害の直後には、多くの「ガイジン」が日本から逃げ出した。侮辱された日本人は、彼らを「フライジン（飛ぶ外国人）」と呼んだ。東京証券取引所の斉藤惇社長でさえ、国外避難した外国人に冷淡な言葉を浴びせた。

　だが、もしかしたら今、東京市場回復の潤滑油となっていることについて、外国人投資家は一定の評価を受けるべきなのかもしれない。外国人の呼び名を再び変更し、「バイジン（買う外国人）」とすべき時が来たのではないか？

外国人投資家に評価を与えるのは結構な話ですけど・・・・

もともとFlyjinいう言葉は日本語でもないし日本人にも使われていないんですが・・・_|￣|○

　東京証券取引所の斉藤惇社長は、22日の会見で、外国人の大量出国を残念に思う気持ちを表明すると同時に、「大丈夫だと言ってわざわざヘッドが東京に人を連れて入ってきたような参加者の会社もある」と強調。「日本はすばらしい国だとしっかり外国に伝え、あまり風評が出ないようにするのも東証の役割かもしれない」と訴えた。

Expatriates Tiptoe Back to the Office

The head of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, at a news conference Tuesday, expressed his disappointment that so many foreigners―from the U.S., France, the U.K., China and Hong Kong, among others―had been urged to leave the country by their governments and by worried families. Their flight was at least in part due to the more alarmist tones the foreign media took in coverage of the disaster, compared with the local news that emphasized how problems were being addressed.

まあ、Economist はかなり高い評価得ている雑誌だが、海外情報という意味では、英語からの二次三次資料をつかっているんじゃない？
