十一月二度めの沖縄はスーパームーンが迎えてくれた。そう言えば何年か前の皆既日食は上海で遭遇した。旅と天体ショーが重なることは珍しい。
しかしながら、昼間の気温は28-29度になり、半袖のかりゆしシャツで十分である。
嘉手納や普天間の米軍基地に足を踏み入れると滑走路を含む広大な敷地に軍用機やヘリが並ぶ。住居、学校、病院、娯楽施設などが完備され、ちょっとした町を形成し、基地の外の密集した市街地とは別世界のアメリカン・ライフの空間になっている。
沖縄県は数少ない人口増加県であり、内地の企業の進出が続いている。インフラの再整備や、基地の改修や移転など、徐々に建築・建設関係の需要が伸びることが期待される。もちろん基地問題が沖縄の最大の課題であることに変わりはないのだが。
My second visit to Okinawa in this month started with the Super moon and the daytime heat. Had a chance to go into US bases like Kadena and Futenma, where they have American lifestyle towns together with Osplays and Appatches on the runways.
Because of the exceptionally increasing population and needs for rejuvenation of the infrastructure, the demand for the demolition and reconstruction will continue to increase, while the US base issues will surely be one of the major social issues.
