The Doobie Brothers「Takin' It To The Streets」

矢沢永吉に続き、矢沢のバックバンドを務めたことがある、西海岸ロックの大御所ドゥービーブラザーズのナンバーを紹介します。

エキサイトブログ「音楽の杜」（y240.exblog.jp）より一部抜粋。

初期ドゥービーのリーダーであったトム・ジョンストンが、健康上の理由でツアーを断念せざる負えなくなったのが1975年の夏。そこでメンバーのジェフ・バクスターがスティーリー・ダン時代に一緒だったマイケル・マクドナルドに代役として声を掛け、マイケルはそのツアーに参加。他のメンバーもマイケルの才能に惚れこみ、マイケルはドゥービーのメンバーに加わることになります。これが後のドゥービーを大きく、大きく変えることになります。

そして発表されたのがアルバム「Take it to the streets」。

アップしたものは、アルバムからのタイトルチューンでシングルカットされ、全米１３位を記録したナンバー。

多数の兄弟ばらばらになり、自分は貧乏に育ち、何もできない失望を味わい、ここまで生きてきて、もうこれ以上はごめんだけど、自分は正直に人生を送り、自分の主張を持ち、かけがえのない人に恵まれていることを他の兄弟へメッセージを伝えることを歌にしている。
