どうやら冷静なロジックを言えば言うほど意固地になっちゃうんだよね。ティーパーティ、ベルルスコーニ、タリバンあたりと同じ行動パターンなので、下火になるのを待つしかないんでしょーか？

　反靖国参拝で冷静な議論というのは、そもそも政教分離原則に反しないか、ということ。
　それ以外はそれほど、冷静な議論というのはない。

　もっとも、百田氏の議論も説得力があるともいえない。

　Ａ級戦犯が合祀されてからも中国は黙っていた、中国は、日本のマスコミが騒ぐから外交カードに使っているだけだ、という分析は間違っているとも思わない。

　ただし、中国としては、我慢して黙ってやっていたのだ、ともいえるし、そうでなくても、靖国参拝が、

１）日本の過去の侵略を肯定することの表明と

２）日本の軍国主義の復活

を意味する、という中国韓国の解釈が国際的に一定の説得力を持ってしまっている、という現状が重要である。

靖国参拝はそもそも、

　３）靖国で会おうといって死んでいった戦死者への哀悼の気持ちを靖国で、伝える

という意味であり、それは、まさにアーリントンへ慰霊にいくのと同じであるが、しかし、安倍首相にもいまの事態を招いた責任がある。


　安倍首相は、侵略について、あいまいな態度をとったし、村山談話、河野談話についても、一部の右翼を喜ばせるような改訂をするかの言動をとり、上記の解釈に一定の正当性を与えてしまった。


　東京裁判は事後法を適用しているのでおかしい、というのは正しいが、しかし、全面的にその判断を否定することもできない。実際に正しい部分もあるし、なによりも、日本は東京裁判を受け入れているのだ。日本にできるのは、その裁判基準を全面的に受け入れ、同じ基準を無差別爆撃や原爆を落として市民虐殺した米国やチベット侵略している中国などの適用することなのだ。彼らが受け入れろといった判断基準なのだから、彼らは受け入れざる得ないのである。

TOKYO ― As if the Japanese don't have enough problems, now they're being dissed by their favorite new ambassador – via Twitter, no less.

In office just two months, U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy took to social media this weekend to condemn an annual dolphin hunt in western Japan portrayed by opponents as needlessly cruel.

"Deeply concerned by inhumaneness of drive hunt dolphin killing. USG opposes drive hunt fisheries," Kennedy tweeted in both English and Japanese. "USG" refers to the U.S. government.

The message seemed to catch both officials and public here by surprise. Government spokesman Yoshihide Suga defended the dolphin hunt at a regular press conference Monday as "in accordance with the law."

But Japanese social media were less circumspect.

"The drive hunt is a traditional fishery that was established long before the foundation of the United States of America," said one message posted in response. "Isn't it inhumane to kill millions of cows and sheep for consumption?" asked another.

The Taiji hunt, in which hundreds of dolphins are driven into a small cove and killed, was the subject of a graphic documentary in 2009 that won an Academy Award.

Kennedy's dolphin tweet could complicate relations between two vital allies, says Robert Dujarric, director of the Institute of Contemporary Asian Studies at Temple University of Japan, in Tokyo.

"There are far more important questions between the U.S. and Japan. The key to the dolphin business is getting Japanese to oppose it. But will this help? Or on the contrary, will it start a nationalistic reaction against meddling by a (foreign) country," says Dujarric.

It was a nationalistic, U.S. centric "intervention" by Kennedy in the first place.

A State Department official who asked not to be named because of department policy, said Kennedy proposed issuing last week's Twitter statement on the ongoing dolphin hunt in Taiji in response to social media criticism of the event. The final wording of her tweet was the result of collaboration between Kennedy and other embassy officials and reflects official U.S. policy, the official said.

That's all good, says Nancy Snow, a visiting professor of mass communications at Keio University, in Tokyo.

"I salute her for generating discussion on this issue," Snow said in an e-mail Tuesday. "Of course, some Japanese in the so-called Twitter-verse are going to be displeased. Too bad. We call it democratic representation. 'CK' doesn't have to agree with every Japanese position. She's there to represent the U.S. position."

Well then U.S. position is so hypocritical: Americans raise and kill cows and pigs in just as a brutal way and sell them to Japanese!

It is not logical to preach Taiji people and blame dolphin hunting while raising and killing cows and pigs in a inhumane way and sell them to the Japanese people.

While many in France will lambast François Hollande for how he has run the country, most it seems are not in a position to criticize him over his private life with a new survey published on Tuesday showing that one in two Frenchmen cheat and infidelity among both sexes is on the rise.

The latest survey on infidelity in France might make a few expats with French partners a little bit nervous.

The French have long had a reputation, although some say an unfair one, for not being faithful to their partners and a new survey published on Tuesday is only likely to bolster this view.

A majority of French men, 55 percent, and nearly a third of French women admit to cheating on their significant others, an Ifop study has revealed.

The behaviour has been growing since the 1970s, when the percentage of cheaters stood at around 19 percent, according to the study that was carried out for extramarital dating website Gleeden.

"People have more partners these days, women are much more in the working environment so they come into contact with other men, there's technology and social media, meaning people can communicate in private. There's basically much more temptation around now," Ifop researcher François Kraus told The Local.

"The interesting stat for me was that 35 percent of French, more than one in three, say they are prepared to cheat on their partners as long as they were sure they wouldn't find out," he said.

Sometime in 1975, Pope Paul VI granted an audience in the Vatican to a Japanese Buddhist monk called Nakata Junna 仲田順和. Nakata was the head-priest at the Honsenji 品川寺, a Shingon temple of the Daigoji　醍醐寺 lineage in Shinagawa, Tokyo. He was also an admirer of Pope Paul’s cultivation of dialogue with people of all faiths and people of none.


His hope was that the pontiff might say a Mass for the repose of the souls of the 1,618 men condemned as Class A, B and C war criminals. In the tale as it is related by Nagoshi Futaranosuke 名越二荒之助, Pope Paul spoke of the Tokyo war crimes tribunal that condemned the Class A criminals as ‘an embarrassment,’ and he promised to say the Mass requested of him.3 Nakata Junna, incidentally, inherited his concern for the war criminals from his late father, Junkai 順海、 who had built a memorial hall (the Eireidō 英霊堂) in the grounds of the Honsenji temple. The hall commemorates not only Japan’s war criminals but the so-called gakutohei 学徒兵　students who were pulled out of the university and mobilized from 1943, ill-prepared for battle. Beneath the eaves of the Honsenji memorial hall, hangs a bell inscribed with the names of seven of the Class A war criminals. Pilgrims ring the bell and pray for the repose of their souls.4


Pope Paul VI died in 1978 before he was able to fulfil his promise, but in April 1980, a letter arrived at the Honsenji from the Vatican, explaining that Pope John Paul II intended to keep his predecessor’s word. The Mass for 1,618 war criminals of Classes A, B and C would take place in St. Peter’s on May 22nd of that year, and Nakata Junna was invited to attend. Junna duly did so in the company of the sculptor Hoshino Kōho 星野晧穂, who had spent the previous three years constructing a miniature replica of the Daigoji temple’s 5-story pagoda, into which he placed the memorial tablets he had personally made for all 1,618 war criminals. This he took with him to Rome as a gift for the Pope. A contemporary photograph shows Pope John Paul II blessing the eight-foot high structure.5

　大阪府が高校生の英語力強化のため、２０１５年度から採用を検討している「スーパーイングリッシュティーチャー（ＳＥＴ）」の選考に関し、受験者を日本国籍に限定しているのは不当だとして、外国人の英語講師らの労働組合が反発している。府は、一般教員については条件付きで外国籍を採用しており、議論を呼びそうだ。

　府立高校で英語を教える外国人教員が組織する労働組合「ＯＦＳＥＴ（オフセット）」は昨年１１月に抗議声明を出した。

　府教委によると、ＳＥＴは３年の任期付き教員で、１５年４月から進学校を中心に府立高６～８校に配置し、段階的に対象校を増やす計画という。国際的な英語能力試験「ＴＯＥＦＬｉＢＴ」などを活用し、英語圏の大学に留学できるレベルを目指す。募集要項によると、ＴＯＥＦＬｉＢＴスコア１００点以上の高い英語力に加え、日本国籍を条件とする。教員免許の有無は問わない。

　外国籍の地方公務員の採用は、政府が「公権力の行使や公の意思形成に関わらない限り可能」と解釈している。府は公立校教員について、校長や教頭など管理職に就く可能性がある教諭ではなく、学級担任や教科指導に限る常勤講師として採用している。給与面など待遇の差はほとんどないという。

　ＳＥＴに国籍要件を設けたことについて、府教委教職員人事課は「他校が使う可能性のあるカリキュラムの策定や教材開発に関わり、公権力の行使などに当たる可能性がある。管理職には登用はしない」と説明する。

　これに対し、ＯＦＳＥＴのダミアン・ウィルソン代表（３７）は「メンバーには国際的な英語の指導資格を持つ外国人もいる。任期付きで管理職にもならないのになぜ制限するのか」と訴える。山形県で文部省（当時）の英語指導主事助手を務めたタレントのダニエル・カールさんは「生徒のニーズにあった教員がベストの人材であり、国籍は関係ないのではないか」と話す。【石戸諭】

――ただ、戦争で亡くなった兵士を悼むことは必要では

　戦没者への敬意を忘れてはならないし、悼む気持ちは多くの人が共有している。その点から安倍首相の靖国参拝を支持する人々の気持ちは理解できる。

　ただ、国家神道という歴史的な背景がある靖国神社には、深い価値を見いだす人と、逆にそれによって非常に傷つけられる人がいて、強い対立を招く構造を含んでいる。

靖国に反発を持つ人がいると同時に、国家神道であったであろうが、なかろうが、靖国であおう、といって死んでいった兵士たちの気持ちをくむ人たちの気持ちを汲む必要もある。

いずれにせよ、期待していた新しい議論は特になかった。

強いて言うと、、靖国に相当する国立ソウル顕忠院が言及されており、、今度、韓国の大統領なり、首相が　Seoul National Cemeteryに参詣するときは、グローバルに共通の基準で、日本のメディアも大々的に報道すべきだろうな、といったくらい。

　和歌山県の仁坂吉伸知事は２１日の定例会見で、キャロライン・ケネディ駐日米大使が短文投稿サイトのツイッターに「イルカが殺される追い込み漁の非人道性」を深く懸念すると書き込んだことについて、「我々は牛や豚などの命を奪って生きている。食肉処理場には目をつぶって、イルカや鯨を殺しているところだけ残虐というのは論理的ではない」と反論した。

　仁坂知事は「食文化はみんな違う。世界的に資源がなくなるのでなければ、相手の立場を認めるのがよろしいのではないか」と述べ、「日本人は数少ない資源を大事にしてきたという自負がある。乱獲で資源がなくなるような捕り方はしておらず、自然の恵みに感謝する文化をずっと続けている。そういった全体をよく理解してもらいたい」と強調した。

もっともである。英語で発信すべきだ。

安倍晋三首相の靖国神社参拝から３週間以上がたった今も、中国による安倍氏批判はやむどころか激しさを増している。世界各国に駐在する中国大使らが現地有力紙への寄稿などを通じ、「侵略の歴史の美化と戦後国際秩序の否定こそ、安倍氏の靖国参拝の本質だ」などと、一方的な主張を拡散し続けている。

　中国の狙いについてシンガポールの英字紙、ストレーツ・タイムズ（電子版）は８日付の論評で、専門家の次のような見解を紹介した。「たいていの国は、日中間のもめ事に巻き込まれたくないと思っている。中国もそれは知っているが、安倍氏の靖国参拝を、歴史と第二次世界大戦の結果を覆そうとする意図の表れだと描くことで、国際問題に変え、もっと多くの国に日本を非難させることができると考えている」

China is deploying a new strategy in its rift with Japan by rallying the international community against Japanese premier Shinzo Abe over his recent visit to the controversial Yasukuni war shrine, say analysts.

"China knows that most countries would not want to get involved in its bilateral dispute with Japan," said Dr Chen of the East Asian Institute.

"But by depicting Abe's shrine visit as a sign of his intentions to reverse the history and outcome of World War II, China thinks it will be able to turn it into an international issue and get more countries to condemn Japan."

Dr Chen thinks the strategy also stems from China's growing confidence in its foreign policy.

"China did not take such actions in 2006 when Koizumi visited the shrine. Now, China thinks its international stature has risen, so its calls may carry more weight."

　対日本で、歴史問題を前面に出して、戦勝国、および被害国からの同調を得ようとする戦略はかなり以前からあった。もしもそれに気づいていなかったとすれば、政治家にせよ、ジャーナリストにせよ、かなり、やばい、といわざるえない。

　効果的な反撃は、靖国参拝しないか、今までのように、参拝する、しない、した、しなかったについて、秘密にすることだ。

　そして、尖閣問題、竹島問題など領土問題については、正々堂々、第３者機関である、国際司法裁判所で決着をつけようと、国際社会に訴えることだ。

　慰安婦問題についても、否定ばかりしていないで、韓国、米国、日本、ドイツ・・・など、戦時性性奴隷について共通の基準で救済しよう、と積極的に国際社会に提案することだ。

　そうしても、日本に不利なことは何一つないのだ。

　それができないのは、ハエが，ハエ取りボトルから抜け出れないように、右も左も古い枠組みにとらわれているからだ、と言ったら傲慢だろうか？

Right-wing Japanese nationalists claim that Japan fought to liberate South-east Asia from colonial rule. This oversimplifies history and is offensive nonsense.

Japan's real intention was to establish colonies in China and South-east Asia to secure supplies of raw materials. This is unacceptable today, but was in accord with the temper of very different times - in principle, little different from, say, the wars of conquest the British fought for Burma, the Dutch for what is now Indonesia, the French for Indochina or the Americans for the Philippines.

The US officer in charge of selecting the political war criminals to be tried, Brigadier-General Elliot Thorpe, subsequently admitted that "they made up the rules after the game was over". Major-General Charles Willoughby, chief of intelligence to General Douglas MacArthur, later described the Tokyo trials as "the worst hypocrisy in recorded history".

This certainly does not excuse the atrocities that Imperial Japan committed in China, Korea and South-east Asia. Those hanged as Class A war criminals may well have richly deserved execution. But not for "crimes against peace" as then hastily defined.

No Asean country wants to be drawn into Sino-Japanese controversy. And the greater the controversy, the greater the wariness. China is playing this to the hilt.

Every Chinese school child knows the history of "a hundred years of humiliation" at the hands of foreign powers, of which the Sino-Japanese war of 1937-45 was the most recent and vicious phase. But most Chinese probably do not know that on at least three occasions, no less than Chairman Mao Zedong himself brushed it aside.

In 1964, Mao told a Japanese socialist delegation that they need not apologise for the war because it had been the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) path to power. In 1972, he told then Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka not to apologise because it was with the "help" of the Japanese invasion that the CCP was victorious. A year earlier, he had told American President Richard Nixon much the same thing.

As for Singapore, its position on the Japanese occupation is clear. It is part of our history, and we cannot deny or forget history.

So when Mr Abe visited Yasukuni, the Singapore Government expressed its regrets. But as a country, Singapore decided long ago to look forward and not backward in its relations with Japan.

And so, when it regrets Mr Abe's visit, it is more in sorrow than in anger because Singapore also recognises that, in the words of the Foreign Ministry, "tensions in the region have been rising due to the recent series of events, actions and counter- actions, taken by a number of different parties".

The "sexy, hot-blooded Latino" is one of many stereotypes that is prevalent in Hollywood. And, as the Hispanic population continues to grow, more and more attention is being drawn to how Latinos are represented in television and film.
While it may seem harmless to portray Latinos as sexy, these typecasts limit the roles for actors in Hollywood, said actor Esai Morales.
"Latinos are either cast as either the overly hormonal ("Oh mamacita, I have to have you"), overly hysterical ("Lucy!"), overly hostile ("I'll cut you sucka!"), or overly humble ("We are a poor people")," Morales told CNN in a recent interview.
Those, according to Morales, are the "four H's of Hollywood" that make up Hollywood's patronizing formula for Latino actors. And, Morales said, it's the reason why Hispanics rarely play heroes or leaders.
"It's just broad strokes," said Morales, whose acting credits include "24," "NYPD Blue," and "Criminal Minds."
"I don't want to be the 'spice' added to a show, I'm not a condiment!"

全日空ＣＭとも関連するが、ここでも、ラティーノが固定観念的にとらえられていることが問題にされているわけだ。

例えば、ラティーノ＝セクシーなんていいじゃないか、と思う人がいるかもしれないが、固定観念を持たれることで、俳優さんなんかは、配役の幅が狭まってしまうわけだ。


日本に当てはめると、例えば、ハーフがかっこちょいい、という固定観念があるが、しかし、それでは、それほどかっちょよくないハーフは肩身が狭い思いをしなくてはならないわけである。

いずれにせよ、賛否はいろいろあって、いいが、世界のなるべく多くの人々と問題意識を共有したい。

White westerners are often believed in Japan to have big noses, blue eyes and blond hair, characteristics generally thought desirable among Japanese.

デリメが、金髪、高い鼻が日本人にとっては望ましい、特徴と思われている、と付け加えてくれているのは、親切だな、と思った。



「金髪で高い鼻」は人種差別、批判受けＣＭ中止

　全日本空輸は、１８日に放映を始めた新しいテレビＣＭを２０日午前中から中止したことを明らかにした。


　問題のＣＭは、３月３０日から同社の羽田空港発着の国際線が増えることをＰＲする内容で、パイロットの制服を着た俳優の西島秀俊さんと、お笑いタレントのバカリズムさんが出演。せりふは英語で、西島さんが「日本人のイメージ変えちゃおうぜ」と話すと、バカリズムさんが高い鼻と金髪のカツラを着けた西洋人をイメージする格好に変わっているという内容だ。

　この演出に対し、外国人を中心にメールなどで「人種差別的だ」といった批判が多く集まっていたという。

金髪で高い鼻が人種差別ではなく、 デリメが指摘しているように、racially stereotyped Westerners　西洋人＝金髪で高い鼻、という固定観念が人種差別的なのだ。

　ある特定のグループーーー西洋人、韓国人、イスラム教徒、女性、ハーフ、老人などなどーーーについて、十羽一からげに、固定的な特徴づけーーー仮に、望ましい特徴であってもーーーをすれば、差別的である、という推定をうける、と認識すべきだ。


　それにしても、この手のつけ鼻コマーシャルは、外国人などから、抗議をうけて、何度もボツになっているのに、繰り返される愚行。

　日本の大手のマスコミがこうした問題をしっかり取り上げないから、国民はいつまでも、問題意識をもてないでいる。

　全日空の、しかも、国際線のコマーシャルでこんな失態をやらかしてしまう、というのは、ちょっと絶望的でさえある。
