新年会の件 The New Year's party

　先日にお知らせした小さな喫茶店で開催する新年会の話です。
　最終締め切り日に、更にお一人が欠席という連絡がありました。グッと増えかけてスッと減った事で少々物寂しい気分になってしまいました。
　ただ、１０４大隊からNO最先任上級曹長が隊長代行として出席されるのが楽しみです。
　下士官を束ねる役職として、部隊の馬力のかけ方がこの先任の胸先三寸で決まるという。
　数年前にも、NU最先任上級曹長が来てくれた時があった。
　今回は、マニア的な人が少なかろうと思えるので話が出来そうと言う訳で楽しみなのです。
　NA副団長とお客様はお二人としておこうかな？それだけの呟きです。

「竹の瓦」記事

　17日の日経新聞夕刊記事である。
　モノごころヒト語りと言うコラムがある。
　“そもそも瓦のアイデアがいかに生まれたかのかは案外明らかにされていない”“竹で屋根を葺く仕組みと機能性が粘土で焼く「瓦」へ展開したと考えるべきではないかと思い付いた”そうだ。
　竹を半分に割り、上下に組み合われば、確かに屋根に降る雨水をそのまま軒先へと落とし込む構造になる。

　「瓦（かわら）」が、寺院という構造物と共に東アジア大陸から朝鮮半島を経て伝わってきた事から、朝鮮では「キワッ」と言い、日本ではそれを受け継いで「かわら」と呼ぶ。元々は漢語である。
　だから、それ以前に雲南地方シーサンパンナの少数民族では何と呼び、ラオス北部の小屋の竹葺きをどう呼んだのか？写真ではインドネシア・トラジャ族の穀倉の竹葺き屋根が紹介されてあったが、その部族での呼び名は何か？
　例え現代語ではあっても、それを知りたいのだが残念ながらそれへの言及はない。武蔵野美術大学の先生ゆえに建築上の研究興味対象なのであって、それぞれの場所での呼び名への関心を呼ばないのは仕方の無い事ではあるが。
　しかし、「かわら」の語源を知り得る伝なのだ。かゆい所に手が届きかけてあと少し足りないもどかしさに目をしかめてしまった。残念！
