早速洗礼を受けた蚊のシーズン (Mosquito Season)

Hi folks!




皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?





今日、6月30日はHit-chanにとって、2つの意味のある特別な日です。
Today, June 30th has 2 special meanings for me.





1つは、このブログにも何度も登場してくれているんですが、Hit-chanがミネソタに来る前の人生においてかなりお世話になって、その後も大切なお友達としてお付き合いいただいているふじさんのお誕生日。
One of them is that my precious friend, Fuji-san's birthday. She actually gave me a big support in the last couple of my life in Japan and I still really appreciate that.





そして、もう1つはHit-chanが日本からミネソタに来た日。
And the other one is that my anniversary for moving from Japan to MN.





そんな2つの意味がある6月30日が来る度、ふじさんに出会えた幸運に感謝して、ミネソタに来てからの年月を少し振り返って、「あ～、こんなに時間が経ったんだなぁ。」と思ったりしています。
So, when June 30th comes every year, I remind myself that how lucky I am to meet Fuji-san in my life and also take some time to look back the time from the day that I moved here to now. "Wow, I spent that much time here already!" I feel that way in recent years.





今年でミネソタに移住して13年。まだまだ頼りになる大人になれているのかは自信ありませんが、来てすぐに比べると出来る事も多くなっているので、これからも少しずつではありますが、自分なりにより甲斐性のある人間になれるように頑張っていきたいです。
Today is the 13th anniversary. I don't have much confidence enough to say that I'm a reliable grown-up to be a good support for others here in the US, but I can tell that I've been able to do more things on my own than before. So, I do want to keep learning and practicing more things here to become a more reliable and responsible adult who I want to be from now on.




さて、こちらミネソタは本当に気持ちの良いお天気が続いており、お金持ちのリタイアした人たちが、冬はアリゾナやフロリダ、夏はミネソタに住むのがよぉーく分かる今日この頃。
Here in MN, we're cherishing the beautiful season, which reminds me why rich people want to live in places like Arizona or Florida in winter and come back here in MN in summer.





めいさんのプリスクールも夏休みに入り、久しぶりに親子で大きい方のお気に入りの公園に行ってきました。
Anyways, our loving daughter, May-chan, is now in summer break, so I took her to one of our favorite parks the other day.






この公園のプレイグランドはちょっと大きい子向け。でも、めいさん、随分一人で色んな事ができるようになりました。
The playground is made relatevily for older kids, but May-chan's now big enough to be able to climb up most of the things without any help.

小梅ちゃんとプレイデート、そして別れ (Play Date with Koume-chan and Goodbye) - Hit-Chanのワクワクしてるよ！(Hit-Chan's WakuWaku Life!)

もう日本に帰っちゃったけど、めいの初プレイデートのお相手、小梅ちゃんともよくこの公園に行きました。
We used to play at this park often with Koume-chan who's May-chan first ever playdate and already moved back to Japan.




途中、ブランチ代わりに、来る途中で買ったあま～いマフィンを堪能。
We took a bruch break with this super sweet muffin which we got on the way to the park.





しばらくプレイグランドで遊んでから、公園内をお散歩に行く事に。
After we played at the playground for a while, I suggested May-chan to go for a walk around.

湖に泳ぎに行ったよ。(We went to swim in the lake.) - Hit-Chanのワクワクしてるよ！(Hit-Chan's WakuWaku Life!)

3年前の夏にはこの公園のビーチで泳ぎました。
BTW, May-chan swam in the lake at the park 3 years ago.




この日は泳ぐ準備をしていなかったので、「泳ぎたいって言われたら面倒くさいなぁ～。」と思っていたのですが、何か棒を持って「めいちゃん、魚釣りしてるの！」と言うだけだったのでホッ。
（Hit-chanはあんまり泳ぐの好きじゃないから、どっちにせよ、一緒に入ってもらうのはAndyっちなんやけどね。笑）
I didn't bring anything to let her swim in the lake that day, so "What if she says she wants to go in the water??" I was a little bit concerned, but she just said, "May-chan's fishing now!" with a short stick in her hand, which made me relieved.
(In all honesty, I'm not a huge fan of swimming , so I'll ask Andy to go in water with May-chan anyways. Haha)

久しぶりに大きな公園 (Big Park for the first time since last Spring) - Hit-Chanのワクワクしてるよ！(Hit-Chan's WakuWaku Life!)

秋頃にはこちらの公園の散歩道で葉っぱを踏みながら、その音を楽しんで歩いたりもしました。
May-chan and I had fun with walking on the leaves in the fall a couple of years ago at the same park too.





そんな事を思い出し、同じ散歩道に入る事に。。。
I just remembered about the hidden path where May-chan and I enjoyed walking on the leaves, so I told May-chan, "Why don't we go down the path today??"




が、Hit-chanは大事な事を忘れていたのです。
Though, I missed one very important thing about MN summer.




こちらミネソタは冗談で州鳥が蚊だと言われるくらい、夏には蚊が一杯いるという事を！！
Yeah, it's mosquitos!! You run into mosquitos more than enough here in MN and people even make a joke saying mosquitoes are the state bird of MN.




この日、この公園に来ることは考えていたものの、この散歩道を歩くことはその場で思いついたので、日焼け止めクリームは塗ったものの、虫よけスプレーは全く頭に入ってなかったのです。
I had planned to go to the park for the day, but I randomly got the idea about going down the hidden path at the park, so May-chan and I had put some sunscreen on us beforehand, but hadn't put any bug spray at all.




案の定、散歩道に入ったものの、よりによってこの日七分だけのパンツを履いていたのもあって、Hit-chanの右の足首に8匹ほどの蚊が止まっているのを見て、「ギャー！！」と一目散に散歩道を抜け出しました。
Yeah, just as you can easily imagine, I noticed that a bunch of mosquitos (like 8-9) were on my right ankle because I was in Capri pants and my ankles were completely exposed to the blood predators. I was freaked out and told May-chan, "May-chan, let's get out of here!!! Mosquitos are everywhere!!"





幸か不幸か、Hit-chanの方がミネソタの蚊に好かれているようで、すぐに散歩道から退散したものの、めいさんは3箇所程だったのに比べ、Hit-chanは見事に15ヶ所程噛まれておりました。
Luckily or not, it seems like that I am liked by mosquitoes in MN and they mostly bit me, not May-chan. We got out of the path shortly, but I got like 15 mosquito bites and May-chan got 3.





しかも、在ミネソタ13年にも関わらず、まだまだミネソタの蚊に対する耐性が弱いのか、刺されたところの腫れ方が半端ない！！
（Hit-chan、日本の蚊に刺されてもそこまで酷く腫れないし、MN生まれ＆育ちのAndyっちとめいさんはHit-chanに比べて腫れ方がマシなのです。）
Besides that MN mosquitoes like my blood, I'm not tolerant with the allergen and always get a big allergy reaction to the bitten spots even though I've lived here for 13 years.
(I've never got such a big swollen reaction from mosquitoes in Japan and neither Andy or May-chan who was born and grew up in MN gets as bad reaction as I do from mosquitoes in MN.)




この日刺された所（特に右の足首）がめちゃくちゃ腫れて、もちろんめちゃくちゃ痒く、この日以降完全に痒みが引くまで4、5日かかりました。（涙）
My right ankle got super swollen and itchy that day and it took about 4-5 days until the itchiness completely went away. (Grrr!)






それでも、楽しかったよね！！
Still, we had a great time at the park!




次行くときは、虫よけスプレーをして、あの素敵な散歩道には行かないようにしたいと思います。(笑)
Yeah, I will make sure to put some bug spray and not even think about going down the hidden path next time we go to the park in summer. LOL

一石三鳥のジョンディア (John Deere Season!)

Hello everyone!





皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?




これを書いているのは6月中旬で、日本は梅雨でジメジメと過ごしにくいシーズンに入っていると思うのですが、こちらミネソタはアウトドア活動にピッタリの過ごしやすい気候が続いています。
I'm writing this in the middle of June and I assume that people in Japan are dealing with the annoying rainy season now. Compared to the uncomfortable weather in Japan, here in MN, it's been really nice out.




なので、めいさんの外遊びもほぼほぼ毎日やっております。
So, May-chan enjoys playing outside pretty much every single day.





まだ寒い冬の頃から催促されていたこちらも解禁！
May-chan actually kept asking me to let her do this since it's still very cold out in winter, which was...






そう、めいさんのジョンディア。

めいちゃんの初John Deere (May-chan's 1st John Deere) - Hit-Chanのワクワクしてるよ！(Hit-Chan's WakuWaku Life!)

こちらの記事で書いていますが、ブラッド君からプレゼントしてもらったジョンディアの乗り物です。
I wrote the story how May-chan got the John Deere from her uncle Brad.




一度乗ったらやはりその楽しさは忘れられなかったようで、結構寒い時から、「ねぇねぇ、めいちゃんの緑の車乗りたい。」と何度もお願いされていたんですよねぇ。
Once she learned how fun the ride was, she kept saying, "Mommy, May-chan wanna ride on May-chan's green car." so many times eve from when the winter was still around.





結構高いオモチャなのでブラッド君から事前に「買っても良いか？」と聞かれたんですが、「めいを遊ばせる所までやってくれるなら良いよ～。」と、めいがジョンディアに乗る時は付き添いをしてもらうという条件を付けてOKしたんです。
"Can I buy May-chan a John Deere toy? Brad had asked me if it's okay that he'd get May-chan the John Deere because it's an expensive toy, so "Well, if you're going to watch her whenever she rides on it, I'm fine." I brought up a deal and Brad agreed.




で、5月上旬に初乗り。
So, in the beginning of May, the time finally came!





約束通りブラッド君が来てくれて、Hit-chanは写真を撮るだけで後は家で休憩。(笑)
Just as Brad and I agreed, Brad came over our house to let May-chan ride on the John Deere. I just took some pictures of them and went back inside the house. Haha.






今シーズン初運転です。
The first ride this year.





こういう時、広い庭がある家で良かったなぁと実感。お手入れ担当のAndyっちは大変やろうけど。
Every time she enjoys playing like this, I really appreciate that we have a big yard and Andy nicely takes care of it.





めいちゃん、良かったねぇ～。
Lucky you!




もちろん、ずっとお願いしていたジョンディアライドに大喜び！
Needless to say, May-chan was super excited and happy for the ride that she had wanted to do for a long time.




めいがジョンディアに乗っている間はめいを見ていなくても良いHit-chanも大喜び！
I was also super pleased for May-chan's ride too since I didn't have to watch her while she's playing with it.





小さい頃からこういうオモチャ？で遊んでいたら、将来車の運転をする時の感覚が練習されて良いのかなぁと思ったりもしています。
I guess that you'd get a sense of driving for the future if you're used to playing with this type of toy.





さむーい冬が来るまでにあと何回乗れるかな？
Before we have another freezing cold winter, how many times May-chan can ride on the John Deere??





めいは喜ぶし、Hit-chanも楽できるし、ブラッド君も良い運動になって、我が家に一石三鳥をもたらしてくれているジョンディアの乗り物、ブラッド君、お世話も含めてありがとうね！
It's kind of the John Deere does "Kill 3 birds with one stone" because May-chan's so happy to ride on it, I'm so happy to be relaxed while she's playing with it and also Brad would be happy to do some exercise by walking around with May-chan. Haha. Thanks again, Brad, for getting May-chan such a nice toy!

プリスクール進級式 (Moving-Up Celebration)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your summer going?





さて、5月から6月にかけてアメリカでは卒業シーズンなんですが、我が家のめいさんも無事、プリスクール一年目を終える事ができました。
Here in the US, May and June are graduation season and our loving daughter, May-chan, just finished her 1st year in preschool too.





5月の終わり、プリスクールの最終日に進級式なるものがあるとの事で行ってまいりました。
In the late May, we received an invitation for May-chan's classes moving-up ceremony on the last day of school.





最終日、めいは午後クラスに通っていたので、普段と同じ通り3時過ぎにお迎えに行き、一旦家に帰った後、また4時半に家族3人で一緒に学校に行きました。
May-chan's in the PM class, so I picked up her at a little over 3pm just as usual also on the last day. Then, Andy, May-chan and I left home again for the ceremony at 4:30pm.






すっごい良い季節になりました。(笑)
Yeah, it's a beautiful season in MN now.





めいを教室で先生に託した後、親たちは体育館で待機。
After we dropped of May-chan at her class, we moved to the gym.





この日の為に一年のクラスで撮った写真でスライドショーを作って下さったようで、それを鑑賞。何か、別に特別な事は無いのに、感無量。
They made a special slide show for the special day with all the pictures which they had taken through the year, so we could enjoy it while waiting for the kids to show up. It's just that May-chan went to preschool for one year, not asspecial as your kid graduating from high school or something, but the slide show gave me some emotional moments.





少ししたら、子供達が入ってきました。めいさん、この新しく買った服のポケットが気に入ったようで、両手をポケットに入れるヤンキースタイルで登場。(笑)
In a while, the kids came in the gym too. May-chan was in a new dress that day and really liked the pockets on the pants, so she showed up with her hands in the pockets. Haha.





めい、普段はプリスクールで何をやったかあまり詳しくは教えてくれず、この時歌ってくれた歌の練習をしているのも先生からお知らせが来るまで知りませんでした。
May-chan doesn't tell Andy or me enough to know how she does in her class, so we didn't know that the kids were practicing songs and dances for the ceremony until we got the invitation from her teacher.





あんまり期待していなかったというか、めいさんがちゃんと歌を練習していたとは思っていなかったのですが、ちゃんと他のお友達と一緒に歌ったりフリをやったりしていたので、「あー、ちゃんと練習してたんやぁ。」と嬉しくなりました。
I didn't expect that May-chan would perform that good because she even didn't tell us that she was practicing the performance in the class, but she was actually singing and dancing just as the other kids were doing, which made me moved, "Oh, she was really practicing the performance in the class too!"





実は我が家のめいさん、このプリスクールの様子を聞いていると、我が家や日本語補習校で見ているめいさんとは全く違うらしく、クラスでもお友達と一緒に遊ぶよりも一人遊びが多かったり、お友達との会話もあんまり続かなかったり、癇癪もよく起こすらしいです。
I don't remember that I've shared this here before, but May-chan actually behaves very differently at the preschool than at home or Japanese school. At the preschool, we hear that she tends to play alone, doesn't keep long conversations with her peer friends, makes a lot of meltdowns.





日本語が強いという言語の壁もありますが、家族やトム＆キャットなどの親しい友人となら英語でもちゃんと会話をしているので、プリスクールでは色んな状況が重なっていつもよりシャイなめいが出ているようです。
I'm sure that she still has a language barrier since her 1st tongue is still Japanese and she's a little behind in English compared to the same-age kids, so I understand that she gets more shy with English speakers. Still, she's friendly and talkative with her familiar friends even though they speak English, so I assume that there are multiple factors at the preschool to make May-chan more shy and less social.





担任の先生もそんなめいの事を考えてくださり、来年からはめいに合った個別サポートも受ける事になっています。
Her teacher has been very supportive and patient with her and she's going to receive some extra support in the class from the next school year.





家で見ているめいの何倍もシャイになっているプリスクールですが、本人は毎日行くのを楽しみにしており、夏休みに入った今も、「いつになったら○○先生の学校に行く？」と聞いてくるくらいです。
Even though she gets extra shy at the preschool, she really loves going there everyday. She's already asked me several times, "Mommy, when am I going to Mrs. G's school next?" since the summer break started.





Hit-chan自身が保育園から高校までずっと学校があまり好きじゃなく、小学1年生の時は登校拒否もしていたので、めいが現地のプリスクール２つ、日本語補習校と3つの学校どれも毎回楽しみに行ってくれている事は本当に嬉しいです。
I personally wasn't a big fan of school all the way from daycare to high school and even skipped some classes in the 1st grade. So, it's just grateful and amazing for me that at least May-chan loves going to all the schools, 2 English preschools and 1 Japanese school, so far.





歌の発表が終わった後は、子供達一人ずつ修了証をもらいました。
After the cute performance, every kid got a certificate from their teachers.





頑張ったね！
Good job!





めいが一番お世話になっていて、一番大好きなC先生と一緒に記念撮影。めいの表情は見えませんが、めちゃくちゃ照れた顔してます。
I asked May-chan's favorite teacher, Mrs. C, to take a picture with her. May-chan made a very shy face to the camera, but I bet she's happy.





こちらもお世話になっている担任のG先生（中央）と副担任のA先生と記念撮影。この時も照れています。
We also got a chance to take pictures with her teacher, Mrs. G and assistant teacher, Mrs. A. Yeah, May-chan's being shy with them too.




先生達は皆凄く優しくて、いつも明るく声を掛けてくださり、癇癪をよく起こすめいに対しても我慢強く接してくださるので、どの環境がめいをこんなにシャイにさせているのかは分かりませんが、来年度、個別のサポートを受ける中でもう少し自分の殻を破ったり、英語でのコミュニケーションが上手くなれば良いなと思っています。
Andy and I really appreciate all the teachers and staff at the preschool for always nicely greeting May-chan and creating the welcoming atmosphere for her. Also, they always patiently deal with May-chan's meltdowns and consider what's the best way for her to have a comfortable school life. So, I hope that May-chan will be able to break her shell and communicate better in English though having more personal support in the next school year.




ちなみに、Andyっちが子供の頃は卒業式でもない、ただの夏休み前の最終日はかなりあっさり過ごしたらしく、こんな大きなイベントをやるのは最近になってからのようです。
BTW, Andy said that they didn't have any special moving-up ceremonies when he was a kid, so I assume that it's one of the modern school events.





イベントの最後はアイスクリームをもらいました。
At the end of the ceremony, the kids got ice cream. Yay!




この時も同じクラスのお友達に、「ハイ、めい！！」と声を掛けてもらって、めいも「ハイ、○○！」と嬉しそうに返事をしていたのですが、それ以上の会話は話しかけてもらっても中々続きませんでした。
When May-chan was enjoying her ice scream, a couple of her classmates kindly greeted her, "Hi, May!!" and May-chan also greeted them back, "Hi, XX!" Although, May-chan got shy and couldn't keep on the conversation after that.




このプリスクールでのめいはたくさんの数があるめいの一面でしかないと思っていますが、何よりも楽しく通ってくれているので、来年度のサポートと学校生活を通して、今苦手としている部分での成長をしていってくれたらなぁと思っています。
I consider that her extra shyness at the preschool is only one of millions parts of her, so all I want for her school life in the next year is that she will continue to love it and grow up in the challenging area at her own pace with all the support from her teachers and staff.





そんな訳で、我が家のめいさんのプリスクール一年目、無事に終了しました！！
Okay, this is all about May-chan's 1st year in the preschool and the moving-up ceremony.

Family Double Date @ Como Zoo

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?





気付けばまた前回の投稿からあっという間に一週間が過ぎてしまいました。
Oh my, it's already another week passed from the last update here again.





日本では夏休みまでもう少し時間があると思うのですが、アメリカは夏休み開始が早く、めいさんのプリスクールが既に夏休みに入っております。
So, there's some more time until summer break starts in Japan, but it starts much earlier in the US and May-chan's already been in her break too.





日本人がいる家族はこの時期に日本に一時帰国される方も多いでしょうし、アメリカの子達は学校とは別に公・私問わずキャンプ（特別講習みたいなの）を申し込む家族がたくさんいます。
（そうじゃなきゃ、共働き家族だと長い夏休み中の子供の面倒をみる人がいなくなっちゃいますからね。）
I hear that a lot of Japanese or Japanese-related families take this break to go to Japan, and most of families here usually register their kids for either public or private summer camps.
(Otherwise, if both parents do full-time jobs, nobody can watch their kids during the long break.)





我が家は今年の夏休みは特にキャンプは申し込まなかったんですが、有難いことに有意義な夏休みを過ごせるようにお友達と一緒にちょっとした計画を立てて実行しているんですが、今の所それが上手くいって結構良い具合に充実した夏休みになっています。
We didn't register for any summer camps this year, but one of my Japanese friends and I planned something together so that May-chan and her daughter could make the long break kind of fun and productive, which has turned out great so far.




さて、先日、我が家の3人で久しぶりにリア充な休日を送ったと書いたのですが、その中でも行っていたコモ動物園に意外にも早く再訪する事になりました。
So, the other day I wrote here that we had such a family-quality day and one of the events of the day was Como zoo, and we actually had another chance to visit the zoo sooner than we expected.

リア充な休日1/3 (Family Quality Day 1/3) - Hit-Chanのワクワクしてるよ！(Hit-Chan's WakuWaku Life!)

というのも、我が家と家族ぐるみでお付き合いしているトム＆キャットが「一緒に行かない？」と声をかけてくれまして、一緒に家族ダブルデートと相成りました。
Our close friends, Tom&Kat, actually sent us a text, "Why don't we go to Como zoo together?" and Andy and I were like, "Sure! Why not?"




誘ってもらったのが土曜日だったので、めいとHit-chanは午前中に日本語補習校、一旦家に帰って、約束の2時半に現地集合に間に合うように家を出ました。
It was Saturday, so May-chan and I went to Japanese school in the morning and headed back home once. Then, 3 of us, left home to arrive to the zoo at the appointed time, 2:30pm.






この日は快晴！めちゃくちゃお出かけ日和でした。
It was such a beautiful and perfect day for a family date.





前回コモ動物園に行ったのは平日の金曜日だったので結構空いていたんですが、今回は土曜日。
We visited the zoo on Friday last time and it's very quiet then, but this time was Saturday.





コモ動物園には広い公園もあるので、Andyっちの予想通り、駐車場はもちろんの事、駐車できる路上スペースも満杯。
The area had a big park too, so just as Andy had expected, there were so many people hanging out around and pretty much no space to park either in the parking lot or on the roads.





「あー、これは、駐車スペース探すだけでも30分はかかるかも。最悪Hit-chanとめいだけ動物園入り口で降ろして、僕だけスペース探してグルグル回らないとあかんかもなぁ。」
"It might take half an hour just to find a parking spot. I might drop you guys off first by the zoo and drive around to find a spot."




と言っていたのですが、ナイスなタイミングで目の前で「ちょうど今から出ますよ～。」という人達に出くわしまして、そのままそのスペースに停める事が出来ました。（ラッキー！）
Andy was saying, but we're so lucky. We happened to come across people returning to their cars which were parked right in front of us, so we could park in the spot shortly after they left.





トム＆キャットは愛娘メレちゃんのお昼寝が少しズレたという事で、到着が遅れるとの事。
Tom&Kat texted us saying they're running late because their daughter, Mere-chan's nap took longer.





なので、ちょうど日陰スポットにあったベンチでスナックタイム。
So, we went in the zoo and took a snack time on a bench.




駐車場の様子から「動物園は凄い混んでるんだろうなぁ。」と予想していたんですが、良い具合に予想は外れ、ある程度賑わっているものの、おしくらまんじゅうで動物を見るのも大変という感じでは無かったです。
"The zoo would be very crowded too." I thought from seeing the packed parking spots, but my guess was thankfully wrong. There was a certain number of people hanging out there, but it's not crazy like "You gotta push people to see animals!"






なので、トム＆キャット＆メレちゃん（Wファミリー）が来るまでの間、適当に園内をまわる事に。これは、ラッキーにもペンギンさんを近くで見られるスポットを確保した時の様子。めいさんも喜んでおりました。
While we're waiting for Tom&Kat and Mere-chan (W family), we randomly walked around the zoo. We luckily found a side spot to be able to see the penguins, so I took a pic there. Of course, May-chan was so pleased to see the penguins in person.





そうこうしているとWファミリー到着。
Here they came!! The W family was there!




「駐車スペースが無いよ～！」と事前に教えていたのでトム＆キャットも覚悟をしていたみたいですが、これまたラッキーで、比較的早くに空いているスポットを見つける事が出来たそうです。
"You guys might have to take a while to find a parking spot." we had given them heads-up, but they're lucky too!! The same stuff, leaving a car right in front of them, happened to them too!





久しぶりにめいさんとメレちゃんが再会。
Long time no see, Mere-chan! May-chan and Mere-chan reunited for the first time in a while.




最近、めいに兄弟姉妹の概念を教えていて、「お友達の○○ちゃんの妹は○○ちゃんだよ。○○ちゃんのお兄ちゃんが○○くんだよ。」と話していたら、Hit-chanが何も言っていないのに、めいが自分から「めいちゃんの妹はメレちゃん。」と言ったんです。
What's one of the sweet stories about them is that I recently taught May-chan what siblings were like by saying, "Your friend, A's little sister is B. Another friend of you, C's big brother is D." Then, May-chan told me, "Mey-chan's little sister is Mere-chan!" from herself. Aww!!




メレちゃんが生後2ヶ月くらいから我が家で半年くらい週4回ベビーシッターをしていたので、めいの中でもやっぱりメレちゃんは特別な存在なんだなぁと感動しました。
（早速キャットにもその事を報告したら、「もちろん。二人は姉妹同然よ。」って言っておりました。）
Yeah, May-chan and I spent about 6 months watching Mere-chan 4 days a week since she was only 2 months old, so Mere-chan is definitely special to May-chan.
(I shared the story with Kat and then she said, "Yeah, they're sisters.")

Here's one of the articles about when I was babysitting Mere-chan. Both May-chan and Mere-chan were so little and cute!!





メレちゃんとめい、姉妹同然というだけあって、何か波長が会うようで、会ってすぐに一緒に遊びだして二人してケラケラ笑っておりました。
They definitely have sister chemistry between May-chan and Mere-chan. Even though they hadn't seen each other for a while, once they got reunited, they started playing and giggling together in a moment.





合流後も色んな動物を見て周りました。
We walked around and saw different kinds of animals together too.





一通り回った所で、お腹が空いて来たのでスナックタイムにする事に。
When we walked around and enjoyed greeting some animals, we got a table for a snack time.




駐車スペースを探すのが大変くらいコモ動物園周辺は色んな人が来てお天気の良い休日を楽しんでいたのですが、コモ動物園内は適度な混み具合だったので、こうしてスナックを食べるテーブルと椅子もすぐに見つけて座る事ができました。
Even though the parking space around the Como zoo was packed, the zoo inside was not that bad, so we luckily could find the table without any hustle too.












本当に二人の中には何か通ずるものがあるんでしょうね。お互い顔を見合わせてはケラケラ笑っておりました。
They definitely have a sister chemistry for sure. They looked at each other face and giggled a tot.





めいがこうやって変な顔をしたら、メレちゃんも負けじと真似をしてあっかんべぇをしてました。
May-chan made a funny face and then Mere-chan copied that too.





メレちゃんも大きくなったなぁ。この日、メレちゃんがめいの事を「めい！」って初めて呼んだんですよ。何か嬉しかったなぁ。
A big news of the day was that Mere-chan actually called "May!!" for the first time!! Oh my, that became another precious memory for me.




そんなこんなで、スナックタイムの後もちょっと動物を見て周ってこの日は解散しました。
After we had a relaxing snack time, we took another quick walk to see some more animals and left for home.





こんな風に家族ぐるみで仲良くしているお友達は本当に貴重で、トム＆キャット＆メレちゃんにはいつも感謝、感謝です。
I've said this several times here, but Tom&Kat&Mere-chan are such an important and precious family friend of us. I really appreciate them for building a great friendship and making so many fun times with us.





この先も今までのようにお互い助け合いながら、楽しい時間を一緒に過ごしていけたらなぁと思っています。
I hope that we will help each other just like we have done so far and spend wonderful times together for many more years to come.

J家を初訪問 (The First Visit at J Family)

Hi everyone!!





皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's everything going today?





いやぁ、あっという間に前回の更新から1週間が過ぎていました。
You know what, it's already more than a week passed since I uploaded the last article here.





毎日、別に何か特別な事をしている訳ではないのに、なんやかんやとすぐに一日が終わってしまいますね。（汗）
I'm not doing something special everyday, but each day just flies away anyways. Haha





さて、我が家の愛娘めいさんが日本語補習校に通い始めて3年目なのですが、有難い事に、学校を通して母娘ともにたくさんの日本人のお友達を作る事ができました。
So, our loving daughter, May-chan, goes to Japanese school on Saturdays and this year is her 3rd year. Thankfully, both May-chan and I have made lots of Japanese friends there.





そんな中、先日、めいのクラスメイトのひゅーご君のお宅に家族皆でお邪魔させてもらう機会がありました。
Last month, May-chan, Andy and I visited one of May-chan's classmates, Hugo-kun's house for the first time.





めいとひゅーご君は補習校のお友達の中でも、2歳児クラスから一緒の古株メンバーなんですが、お互いの家の距離が車で40分くらいと微妙な位置にあったので、今までプレイデートをする機会がありませんでした。
Hugo-kun and May-chan both started attending the school since they're 2 years from the youngest class, but we live 40 mins drive away from each other and hadn't had a chance to do a play date until last month.





前々から「プレイデートしたいねぇ。」と話していたものの、中々タイミングが掴めず今まで来たのですが、実は今月、ヒューゴ君の妹ちゃんが生まれてくるという事で、Hit-chan、フルタイムでバリバリ働いているヒューゴ君ママのはるかちゃんのお力に少しでもなれたらと思い、赤ちゃんが生まれた後にすぐに食べられるような物をいくつか作って持って行く事にしたんです。
（この記事を書いた後、無事に赤ちゃんが生まれてきました！おめでとう！！）
Hugo-kun's mom, Haruka-chan, and I have wanted to do a play date together for a long time, but she's pregnant with her 2nd baby and the due date was pretty soon, so I decided to bring her some prepped food by then so that she wouldn't have to worry about her meals sometimes after the baby girl's born.
(The baby girl was born healthy a couple of days before. Congratulations!!)





別にめいとHit-chanの2人だけでお邪魔しても良かったんですが、永住組（駐在ではなく、ずっとミネソタに住む予定）のJ家とは、ぜひとも家族ぐるみでお付き合いしたいと思い、Andyっちも誘って一緒にお邪魔する事にしました。
A lot of our friends from the Japanese school actually live in MN temporarily for work, so I'd really appreciate for having Japanese-related friends who were going to live here for a long just like us. I didn't mind visiting them just with May-chan at all, but I kind of wanted Andy come along with us so that we could become closer family friends with J family.






J家のお宅の中の写真は撮らなかったんですが、本当に素敵なお家！
I didn't take many pictures of the house inside, but it was such a lovely house!




はるかちゃん曰く、７、８年前に一から家を建てたらしく、最近も地下部分をリフォームしたんですって。羨ましい！！
（我が家も昨年リフォームしようと思ったけど、コロナ禍で資材の値段が爆上がりして断念しました。最近マシになってきたと聞きますが、先立つものが。。。笑）
Haruka-chan said that they built the house from scratch 7,8 years ago and recently remodeled the basement too. So jealous!!
(Yeah, Andy and I planned to remodel our house last year too, but everything turned out too expensive for us to afford due to the pandemic and we had to give up. I hear that things have been better, but you know, you still need chunk of money anyways. Haha)




今回初めてガッツリ遊ぶめいとヒューゴ君ですが、最初は別々に遊ぶ感じで、めいは目新しいヒューゴ君のオモチャに夢中だったし、ヒューゴ君も自分で黙々と遊んでいました。
Anyways, the day was the very first time for Hugo-kun and May-chan to play one on one, so they were both shy in the beginning. May-chan was so excited with all the Hugo-kun's toys which were new to her and Hugo-kun was also playing quietly by himself first.




最初はお互いちょっとシャイになっていましたが、徐々に一緒にお外で遊んだりしている内に打ち解けてきたようで、はるかちゃんとHit-chanがお喋りに花を咲かせていると、地下の方から二人のキャッキャはしゃぐ声が聞こえてきました。
Still, they're gradually opening up as time passed. In a while, when Haruka-chan and I enjoyed chatting, we heard them giggling and laughing together downstairs.






行ってみると、こんな風に大きなクッションチェア？みたいなのに二人で乗って楽しんでおりました。
We couldn't help checking them what they're doing in the basement. Then, they're playing together on this very soft cushion chair.

この日はJ家でランチまで用意してもらっておりまして、パパのロブさん特製のピザを頂きました。
For lunch, Hugo-kun's daddy, Rob, kindly made his special pizza for us. (Thank you, Rob-san!)





この日はお天気が良かったので、素敵なテラスで一緒に食べる事に。
It's a very beautiful day, so we enjoyed the delicious pizza on the porch.





めいさんも焼き立ての美味しいピザをパクパク食べておりました。
May-chan loved and ate the pizza well.





大人たちもお喋り。
Grown-ups enjoyed chatting too.




補習校3年目でママのはるかちゃんと話す事は何度かあったのですが、こうしてゆっくり座って色々とお互いの話をするのは今回が初めて。
It's now 3 years since both Haruka-chan and I became friends and we'd talked several times at school. Still, it's the first time for us to sit down and share more of our private stories on the day.





その中で驚いたのが、何と何と、はるかちゃん、若い頃にF1にハマっていたらしく、その縁で高校生の時にブラジルに留学したり、Andyっち憧れの鈴鹿でのF1観戦も2回した事があるというのです！！
（女子高生がたった一人で鈴鹿までF1観戦に行くって凄いですよね。）
What's a funny and nice surprise was that Haruka-chan was actually a big fan of F1 races when she's younger. She became passionate enough to study in Brazil for a year when she's in high school because it was her favorite driver's home country. She's even been to watch F1 races in Suzuka, which was one of Andy's big dreams!!
(Isn't it amazing that a high school girl went to Suzuka all by herself just to watch F1 race there??)




いやぁ、やっぱり、ちゃんと腰を据えてお話してみないと分からない事って一杯ありますよねぇ。
Oh my, the more you talk to a person, the more you can get to know the person.




そんなこんなで、ずーっと願っていたJ家との楽しいファミリーデートが実現して大満足でございました。
Anyways, I'm very glad that we finally could have a nice family date with J family. I think that May-chan and Hugo-kun, Haruka-chan and me,




赤ちゃんが生まれた今、J家はてんやわんやになっていると思いますが、もう少し落ち着いたらまた家族揃ってベイビーちゃんに挨拶にいけたらなぁと思っています。
They're with the newborn baby girl and their life must be kind of crazy now, but once everything gets settled down, I'd definitely want to visit and greet the baby girl with Andy and May-chan again.
