もうすぐクリスマス！(Christmas is right there!)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?




さて、今日は日本旅行日記をお休みして、我が家のクリスマス準備について書いていこうと思います。
Today, I want to talk about our pre-Christmas days instead of the Japan trip diaries.




だって、あと3日でクリスマスですよ！皆さん！
You know, Christmas is coming here just in 3 days, everybody!



今年の我が家のクリスマス準備はですねぇ、全体的にかなり遅れてました。（ます。）
Oh well, this year, we're behind on getting things ready for Christmas overall.




その中でも比較的早く準備できたのは、毎年恒例のクリスマスライト。
Still, we could put our Christmas lights up relatively ealier than other things.




12月3日のこの日、Andyっちが仕事から帰ってから取り掛かってくれました。
On December 3rd, Andy started working on the project shortly after he came back home from work.









いつもなら、パパママ＆ブラッド君に手伝いに来てもらうんですが、皆のスケジュールが合わなかったりして、今年は友達のトム＆キャットに来てもらって手伝ってもらいました。（手伝ってくれたのはトムで、キャットとHit-chanはめいと遊んでただけだけどね。）
As always, we ask Dad&Mom and Brad for a big help to put the lights up, but everybody was too busy to arrange the schedule, so we asked our friends, Tom&Kat, to help us to do it this year.
(Technically, it's only Andy and Tom working so hard on putting the lights up and Kat, May-chan and I were just hanging out on the couch. Haha.)



で、トム＆キャットが仕事終わりに駆けつけてくれるまで、めいと一緒にダディがライトを付けていく作業を見学していました。
Before Tom&Kat got to our house after their works, Andy started the project by himself, and May-chan and I were watching it outside.





この日、急遽ターゲットでジャケットと手袋とブーツを購入しました。（ブーツ脱げかけてるけどね。笑）
Earlier that day, I went to Target and got her a jacket, gloves and the boots. (Yeah, one of the boots is alomst off. hehe)




本当は防水パンツも買いたかったんですが売ってなくて、結局普通の綿のパンツをはかせました。
I also wanted to get her snow pants or water proof pants too, but couldn't find any pair at Target, so I ended up putting these cotton pants on her.




で、折角なので。。。
Still...,





初雪遊び。やっぱり靴を履いたら歩けなかったので、靴も脱いで結局このお座りスタイル。
I let her play outside with snow! The boots were too heavy for her to walk, so she ended up sitting directly on the wet ground.




初めての雪遊びを楽しんでいためいですが、この後汚い茶色の雪を食べたり、もちろん、綿のパンツしか履いてないお尻は濡れてグチョグチョになったので、早々に引き上げました。（すぐにお風呂に入れましたよ。）
May-chan played with snow for the first time and really loved it!! Though, she started eating dirty brown snow after, of course, and the cotton pants got soaking wet too. So, I grabbed her and went back inside the house. (I bathed her right away too.)




その後、Andyっちとトムが頑張ってライトを付けてくれまして。。。
Then, Andy and Tom finished the project after this and...

So pretty!



で、例年通りならブラックフライデーにパパママとブラッド君も一緒にクリスマスツリーハントに行くのですが、今年は用事でそれができなかったので、家族3人だけで行く事になりました。
Then, we needed a tree. As usual, we go to Christmas tree hunt with Dad&Mom and Brad together on Black Friday, but we couldn't make it this year. So, we went to tree hunt? just with 3 of us.



クリスマスライトを付けた次の日の12月4日。
On the next day after we put the Christmas lights up, December 4th,





流石にね、今年は家から2時間？くらい離れているツリー農場に行って、木を切って運んで帰ってくる気力も時間も車のスペースも無かったので。。。
Oh well, we didn't have enough energy and time to go to our favorite tree farm which was located about 2hours? away from our house and do a tree hunt there. So...





家の近くのスーパーの駐車場に特設されていたツリー売り場に。。。
we went to this local grocery store where they had a temporary tree shop in the parking lot.



めいが生まれてからベビーシートを取り付けツリーを運ぶスペースが無くなったので、2台の車で行きました。(大仕事！笑)
Since May-chan was born, and we put her car seat on my car, there's no space to put a tree in, so Andy and I drove our own cars separately and went to the tree shop. (Yeah, a lot of work!)





めいの物が増えた分、ツリーを置くスペースが減ったので、今年はいつもより小さめのツリーを探すことに。。。
Also in our living room, May-chan's stuff are added, and the free space was more limited, so we tried to find a smaller tree than usual this year.




と言っても、Hit-chanから見れば大きなツリーなんですけどね。
Even though I said a smaller tree, it's still big to me.





当初の予定とは変わりましたが、これがめいの初クリスマスツリーハント？になりました。(笑)
The original plan was changes, but this turned out to be May-chan's 1st tree hunt. Haha




無事、Hit-chanの車で家に持って帰り。。。
I was in charge of carrying the tree by my car back home and made it well.





設置。もちろん、めいが触るのでゲートを立てました。
Ta-da! Yeah, I put the child proof gate to protect the tree from May-chan's attacks.




パパママは、「オーナメントを上の方に付けたら、ゲート無でも大丈夫よ～！子供たち（Andyっちと兄弟）が小さかった頃、ゲートは立てなかったからね。」と言っていましたが、いやぁ、我が家ではちょっと無理ですねぇ。
Dad&Mom were saying to us, "If you put ornaments on the upper level, you'll be fine without a gate. We never put a gate when our kids (Andy and his brothers) were little!" Though, neither Andy nor I thought that it would work for us.




だってね、ツリーを立てるスタンドには常にお水が入っていまして、我が家のめいは水大好き人間なので絶対にぴちゃぴちゃと触って遊ぶはず。
First off, the tree stands holds bunch of water in it, and May-chan loves playing with water! So, I bet that she'll play with the water in the tree stand and get soaking wet too.





予想通り、この人、ツリーの葉を取って早速味見をしておりました。(笑)
As Andy and I expected, she played with the tree and tried to taste the needle right away. Haha.




でね、12月4日にツリーをゲットした訳ですが、その後ずーーーーーーーーーーっと飾り付けをしないまま時が過ぎまして。。。
So, we got the tree and stood it in our living room on the 4th, but since then, we had left it undecorated forever.




気づけば12月20日になってました。（オーマイガー！）
Then, it was already December 20th! (OMG!)




「飾り付けしようね、しようね。」と言いつつも、Andyっちの急な出張も入ったり、めいが寝た後にしようと思ってもその時点で2人とも疲れ果てていたり。。。
"Let's decorate the tree!" I kept telling it to Andy, but we missed a chance since Andy had an unexpected business trip or we both were exhausted at the point when May-chan went to bed or something...




で、ようやくAndyっちが多忙な仕事から解放されクリスマス休みが取れた初日。
Finally, on the first day of Andy's Christmas vacation...,





めいが寝てからの時間、Andyっちと2人で飾りました。
we put the ornaments up on the tree togehter after May-chan went to bed!!!




ツリーを買ってから飾り付けに取り掛かるまでに15日もかかったのに、いざ始めると10分くらいで完成。
We took 15days to get to work on the decoration since we got the tree, but took only 10mins or so to finish the decoration itself.




ただ、Andyっちがさっさと一人で我が家のツリーのてっぺんを飾り付けていたので、「あかーん！1番上は最後にセレモニーしながら飾るの！」とHit-chanの声のもと。。。
Though, Andy was putting the main character of our tree on the top by himself without letting me know, so I yelled "Noooooo! We gotta have a ceremony thing to put it on the top!!!"





ツリーのてっぺん式？が粛々と行われました。(笑)
So, we did the tree top ceremony? together. LOL





無事、まっくろくろすけが降臨。
Yup, this is it! The Soot sprite always comes on the top of our tree!!





見て～！やっぱり飾り付けると凄く良くなったでしょ？？
Look! It's much better with the decoration, isn't it???





ライトアップしたらもっと雰囲気が出ました。
It's even better when we turned the lights on!



やっぱり、ツリーを飾ったら一気にクリスマスらしさが出ました。
Oh yeah, this is it! The tree brought us much more Christmas atmosphere!!!




翌朝めいもツリーを見て喜んでおりました。
In the next morning, May-chan was excited to see the tree too.




ほぼほぼプレゼントのラッピングも終わりつつありまして、今年も楽しいクリスマスを家族皆で過ごす事ができると良いなぁと思っているHit-chanです。
Now, when I'm writing this, we almost finished all the present wrappings and things for the Christmas gathering, and all I want for Christmas now is that a warm and fun family time as usual again!

めいの初日本vol.3 (May-chan's 1st Japan Trip 3)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか
How are you doing today?




さて、今日は日本旅行記第3弾でございます。
Okay, this is vol.3 of May-chan's 1st Japan trip diaries.




空港からモノレールで浜松町に行き、浜松町駅からは優しいおばちゃんに助けられて無事徒歩でホテルに到着。
We took a monorail from Haneda airport to Hamamatsu-cho station where the hotel that we stayed was located and then we walked and arrived at the hotel from the hotel thanks to the lady who helped me to figure out the direction.




あ、そうそう、第2弾の記事に書き忘れていましたが、ホテルのチェックインの時に、妹スイッチに事前に送ってもらっておいた日本用の携帯電話を受け取りました。
Oh yeah, I forgot to write this on the last article, vol.2, but I picked up my Japanese phone at the check-in counter, which my sister, Switch, had sent to the hotel beforehand.




到着した日は早めに夕食を食べて、めいと一緒に午後5時くらいから1度寝たんですが、もちろん体内時計はミネソタ時間になっているので。。。
I had early dinner on the day that we checked in the hotel and then took some sleep with May-chan from 5pm or so, though our body clock was still working in MN time so...





日本時間午後10時にはこんな元気いっぱい。
May-chan woke and played so actively around 10pm in Japan time.





午前3時時点。(笑)
At 3am. LOL




もちろんHit-chan自身もミネソタ時間になっているのでめいに合わせて起きているのは問題なかったんですが、ホテルなので、大きな音を出して周りに迷惑にならないかが心配でした。（こういう事もめいが生まれるまでは気にもかけずに済んでいたんですねぇ。）
Not only May-chan but also I was still in MN time as well, and it's not a big deal for me to stay up with May-chan. Still, I really cared if May-chan would make loud noise or something when other people near our room were sleeping. (Yeah, I'd never had to worry about that stuff until May-chan was born.)




で、あんまり記憶は無いのですが、夕方から夜にかけて少し寝た後は、多分そのまま朝まで起きていたと思います。
Again, I don't remember much about the night, but May-chan and I stayed up until the next morning after we took some sleep from the late afternoon to the night.




5時半くらいになって外が明るくなったので。。。
When it's getting bright outside around 5:30am...,





ホテルの前のコンビニにコーヒーとかを買いに。。。
We went out to the convenience store in front of the hotel to grab a cup of coffee or something.





いやぁ、日本のコンビニはやっぱり素晴らしいですよねぇ。
Needless to say, convenience store in Japan is just awesome!



その後チェックアウトの12時までめいは少しお昼寝を、Hit-chanは部屋でゴロゴロしまして、気合を入れ直して新幹線の止まる品川駅に向かいました。
After breakfast, May-chan took a short nap and I was just being lazy in the room until our check-out time, noon. Then, I motivated myself again so that we can reach to the next destination which was Shinagawa station where we're going to catch Shinkansen(Bullet train).




モノレールの浜松町駅からホテルまでは紙の地図のみだったので少々不安だったんですが、チェックインの時に日本の携帯を受け取ったのでJRの浜松町駅までの道のりは地図アプリを使えたので無問題でした。
Like I talked about this on vol.2 article, I was very nervous about the route from monorail Hamamatsu-cho station to the hotel on the day before because I only had a real paper map for it. Though, I picked up my Japanese phone at the hotel counter and could use map app on it for the direction from the hotel to JR line Hamamatsu-cho station. (Yeah, monorail Hamamatsu-cho station and JR line Hamamatsu-cho station are technically 2 different stations but located very close to each other and connected through skyway.)




今回は最短ルートを選んで行けたので、ホテルから駅までは徒歩3分くらいで無事着くことができました。
At the time, I could choose the shortest route for sure thanks to the app and got to the station from the hotel in 3mins or so by walk.




が、一つ想定外だったのが、着いた駅の入り口のエレベーターが工事中で、結構な上りの階段のみ。（がーん！）
Though, I happened to face this unexpected incident which the elevator at the entrance was under construction and not available. It means that I had to go up so many steps with May-chan, my backpack and the stroller all by myself. (Dang!!!)




まぁ、他の入り口から行けばエレベーターもあったのかもしれませんが、それも保証が無かったので、Hit-chan、めいを抱っこしながらリュックを背負って、ベビーカーを抱えて結構な数の階段を頑張って上りました。
I assumed that there might be an elevator at a different entrance, but there's no guarantee for it. So, I held May-chan in the strap carrier on my front, carried my backpack on my back and then grabbed the stroller in my arms and climbed up the stairs to the top. Phew.




そんな訳で、駅に着いた時点でハーハー言っていましたが、無事浜松町駅から品川駅行きの電車に乗る事ができました。
（日本用の携帯に電車の乗り換えアプリも入れてあったので、これも助かりました。）
Of course, I was losing my breath when I reached to the top, but we could catch a train from Hamamatsu-cho station to Shinagawa-station just as I planned. (Train schedule app on my phone was a huge help to figure out which train I should have taken.)




最初の計画では、京都入りの時間は特に急がなかったので、品川駅で家族へのお土産でも探そうかと思っていたんですが、ベビーカーを押して人混みを歩くのに疲れて断念。
As my original plan, I was going to browse at some souvenir shops at Shinagawa station to get something for my family since I wasn't in a hurry to get to Kyoto, though the big crowd in the big station made me too tired and nervous to walk around with May-chan in the stroller.




正直、個人的には長距離のフライトよりも大きな駅をベビーカーで歩く方が大変でした。
Me personally, walking in the big train station with the stroller is much harder than the long flight.




新幹線の席に関しても、事前に少しネットで調べていました。
As for seat on Shinkansen (bullet train), I also did some research about it online.



こちらのサイトを参考にさせていただきました。子供連れの場合におすすめな席
This website was really helpful to me. The best seats on Shinkansen for parents and kids




すると、子連れの場合、ベビーカーをそのまま横付けできる席があり、特に混んでいなかったりするとお願いしたらその席を予約することができます。
As the website said, there were some seats that you can put your stroller right on the side of your seat, and unless it's too busy or something, you can reserve the seat without any extra fee.




ただ、この数に限りのある席はやっぱり人気が高いようで、忙しい時期はすぐに売り切れてしまうそうです。
Though, the number of the seats is very limited and of course, they're super popular and booked so quickly especially in busy season.




もちろん、緑の窓口やオンラインで事前に席を予約する事もできますが、Hit-chanは当日何かあって予約した時間に間に合わないと困るので、品川駅のみどりの窓口で乗る直前に購入しました。
They let you book a seat from 1 month before the day that you catch the train either online or over the counter, but I wasn't sure how the day would go with May-chan and couldn't 100% guarantee if we could get on the train as I booked . So, I bought the ticket and booked the seat when I got to the station.




窓口で上で書いた希望の席を告げると、恐らくよくあるリクエストなのか、お姉さんはササっとHit-chanの希望している席を理解して空いている席を探してくれました。
At the ticket counter, I said to an lady that I'd like to get one of the special seats, and then she understood what I meant right away and looked for an available one for me. I assume that the request is very familiar to her too.




新幹線の時間自体は特に急いでいる訳でもなかったので、座席優先で探してもらったところ、ラッキーにも希望の席が空いておりました。
Again, I was pretty open about the time schedule and asked her to prioritize the seat availability than the train time.





無事チケットをゲット。めいは無料です。
I got my ticket! May-chan was free on my lap.





無事乗車。こんな感じでベビーカーをそのまま予約した席に横づけできました。
We're on Shinkansen! Just like on the picture, I could put the stroller right by my seat.





途中、めいがベビーカーから降りたがったので、Hit-chanが抱っこする時間も長かったです。
In the middle of the ride, May-chan wanted to get out of the stroller, and I had to hold her for a while.




とは言え、新幹線だと気軽にトイレに行く事ができますし、そのままトイレの前のスペースで窓から景色を眺めておくこともできたので気が楽でした。
Even though, it's way easier to get up and go to bathroom or walk around on Shinkansen than on a plane, and we also kind of enjoyed the moving view through the window in the space in front of the bathrooms.




乗車中、めいが隣に座られていた男性の腕を指でツンツンするというハプニンがありましたが、幸い優しい方だったので「大丈夫ですよ～。」と言ってもらえて助かりました。
Just one surprise on Shinkansen was that May-chan was touching the gentleman's arm sitting by me. I apologized him right away after I noticed it, but thankfully, he was so sweet and said "Oh, it's fine!!"




そして、3時間弱の新幹線の旅を終え、無事京都駅に到着しました。
After about 3hour Shinkansen ride, May-chan and I finally got to Kyoto station.




京都駅には父と母、妹2のスカッチが迎えに来てくれていました。
My dad, mom and my twin sisters kindly came to the station to welcome us!




いやぁ、本当に嬉しい再会だったのは確かだったんですが、この時の事をあまり覚えていません。（汗）
Oh well, I bet that it was a very heartwarming moment but don't remember about the day well.




ただ、ずっと持っていた重たいリュックを父に持ってもらったり、折りたたんだベビーカーを妹2のスカッチに運んでもらったりと、「あ～、頼れる人が近くにいるって本当にありがたい！！！」と感動したのを覚えています。
Though, I clearly remember that I felt so relieved and grateful to have somebody helping me a lot like, "Wow! How nice and great having somebody near me is!. My dad carried my heavy backpack and one of my sisters, Skatch, also carried the heavy stroller for me too.




事前にこの日の夜に何が食べたいのか聞いてもらっていたのですが、Hit-chanが選んだのは。。。
My dad and mom kindly asked me what I would eat for dinner on the day beforehand, and what I chose was...





お寿司！
O-Su-Shi!!!




セットに鰻が入っていなかったので、こちらは単品で。
The combo pack didn't have eel which was one of my favorites, so we ordered them separately too.



父の奢りで銀のさらを注文してもらいました。
That was on my dad, and we got them delivered. (Yeah, the quality of delivery sushi is this good in Japan.)




やっぱりね、質の良いお寿司をミネソタで食べようと思ったらすんごく高くつくしね、「日本に帰ったら絶対寿司を食べる！」って決めてたんですよ。
If you pay a lot, you might be able to find high quality sushi here in MN too, but it'd be super expensive. So, I was so determined like, "I'm gonna eat sushi for the first dinner in Japan!!!!"




やっぱり日本人だからか、長旅で疲れて食欲があまりない時でもお寿司（お米）は美味しく食べれちゃうんですよねぇ。
After all, I'm pure Japanese and made to fit Sushi (rice) anytime even when I get super exhausted and don't have much appetite.




こんな感じで無事京都の実家に着く事ができまして、肩の荷がだいぶ下りたHit-chanでございました！！！
Okay, this is how May-chan and I got to my parents house in Kyoto from the hotel in Tokyo. I finally could unload some burden from my shoulders when I reached to my parents' house.




今日はこの辺で～！！！

めいの初日本vol.2 (May-chan's 1st Japan Trip 2)

How's your day going?




さて、今日はめいの初日本旅行日記第2弾です。
Okay, this is vol.2 of May-chan's 1st Japan diaries.




心配していた12時間35分のロングフライトを無事終えて、羽田空港に着きました。
After my biggest concern of the trip, the 12hours and 35mins flight, May-chan and I safely landed on Haneda airport.




羽田に着いたのは午後1時45分くらいで、ミネソタ時間で言うと深夜の0時くらいに羽田に到着したんですが、めいは着陸少し前に目を覚ましそのまま起きていました。
We arrived at Haneda about 1:45pm in Japan time which was about midnight in MN time, but May-chan woke up from her sleep about 1 hour before the landing and stayed up from then.




荷物は最小限にと思っていたんですが、結局大きなスーツケース2つとリュック、折りたたみができるベビーカーという量になりました。
I first wanted to keep my luggage as little as possible, but it ended up 2 big suitcases, 1 backpack and 1 foldable stroller.




なので、預けていた荷物をピックアップする時には、空港にあるカートにスーツケースを2つ、リュック、折りたたんだベビーカーを載せて、めいを抱っこ紐で抱えながらカートを押しました。
So, I needed to use a big cart at the airport when I picked up my suitcases. I put all the suitcases, my backpack and the folded stroller on the cart and then pushed the card as holding May-chan on my front in the carrier strap.



Hit-chan1人とめいだけなのに荷物が多いので税関でチェックされるのかと思っていたんですが、そのままパスポートのチェックだけで通してもらえました。（多分、大変そうに見えたんでしょうねぇ。笑）
I actually thought that they would want to check my luggages at the custom gate since I had so many things just for 2 of us. Though, they just checked our passports and let us go without opening my luggages. (I guess that I already looked tired enough to make them feel not to borther me anymore. Haha)




ちなみに日本に着いて最初に感じたのは「暑っ！！」でした。(笑)
BTW, the first thing that I thought when I stepped in Japan was "Wow, it's so hot!" Haha




結構な暑さだったので、カートごと入れる多目的トイレでめいの服を薄いものに着替えさせました。
（事前にカートごと入れるトイレがあるか確認済みだったので、これは予定通りでした。）
Yeah, it was really hot, so I went in a big multipurpose bathroom and changed May-chan's clothes to light ones.
( I researched about this bathroom beforehand, so it was exactly what I planned.)

This is a multipurpose bathroom at Haneda airport and it's really baby and handicapped person friendly.




もちろん、大きなスーツケースは羽田空港からそのまま実家に送るつもりだったので、次の日の着替えを手元に残して、それ以外のものは全てスーツケースに詰めてしまいました。
Needless to say, it's impossible for me to carry all the luggage to Kyoto, so I shipped both of the big suitcases directly from the airport to my parents house. So, I packed everything in the suitcases at the airport, except for clothes for the next day.




その後、無事宅急便でスーツケース2つを実家宛に送る手続きをして身軽になった後、この日泊るホテルに向かいました。
After I got rid of the 2 big suitcases from my hands, we headed to the hotel that I booked for the night.





空港からは東京モノレールに乗りました。
We took a monorail from the airport.




でね、一応、泊るホテルへの地図はプリントアウトして持って行ったんですが、駅から出るのにエレベーターを使ったので思っていた出口と違う場所から出てしまい、一瞬どっちに行くか不安になりました。
I'm not good at directions in general, so printed out a map for the hotel beforehand. Though, I needed to use an elevator and took a different exit from the one I was going to, so I wasn't 100% sure if I was taking the right direction and got a little bit nervous.




ですが、駅前にあった地図を見て多分大丈夫だろうと思う方向に進んでいきました。
Though, I found a map in front of the station and kind of figured out which way to go.




あ、東京タワー！
Oh, Tokyo Tower!




でね、一応思う方向に進んで行ったんですが、思っていた距離感よりも随分遠くて、「こっちで合ってるんだろうか？」とちょっと不安になり、もう一度地図を出して確認する事にしました。（最寄駅から徒歩3分と書いてあったんですが、最短ルートに近い出口から出られなかったので、この時点で5分以上歩いていました。）
Well, I was going on the direction, the hotel didn't show up even after I walked to the direction for a while. So, I started feeling worried, "Am I really taking the right way??" and picked out the paper map from my backpack to check the direction again.
(I didn't take the exit at the station, which would start the closest 3min-walk route to the hotel, and at the point, I already had walked more than 5minutes.)



そしたら、前を歩いて来たおばちゃんがめいを連れているHit-chanを見て、「もうすぐ雨降るから、早く家に帰ってあげた方が良いよ！」と声をかけてくれました。
Then, a middle-aged lady looked at us and spoke to me like, "It's gonna rain shortly, so you should go back home with your baby!"





これは良い機会だと思い、おばちゃんに「このホテルってどこでしょうか？？」と聞いてみたら、おばちゃん「あー、何か名前は聞いたことあるんやけどなぁ。ちょっと待ってや。」と言って、スタスタとチラシ配りをしていたお兄さんの所に行って、わざわざHit-chanの為にホテルの場所を聞いてくれたんです。
Oh, what a good timing!! I asked the lady, "Do you know where this hotel is??" Then, she said, "Oh yeah..., I've heard of the name....Okay, hold on a second there, okay??!!" and went to the young man who was passing out flyers on the street just to ask him where the hotel was for me!




お兄さんもわざわざ来てくれて、地図を見てくれたんですがイマイチ自信がなさそうな様子。
The young man nicely came to me and checked the map too, but he didn't seem to be confident enough.




するとおばちゃん、「ちょっと、待っててや。」ともう一度、今度は歩いて来たスーツ姿のお兄さんを捕まえて聞いてくれてます。（いやぁ、おばちゃん優しすぎる！！）
Then, the lady again. She said, "Wait a second here, okay? Stay here!" and caught another guy in suits who was just walking on the street. (Oh my, how sweet she was!!!!)




声をかけられたお兄さんもわざわざ立ち止まってくれて、スマートフォンで場所検索をしてくれました。
The man in suits also stopped by and searched the hotel location with his smart phone.




すると、Hit-chanの来ていた道は合っていて、あと少し歩けばホテルがあると教えてくれました。
Then, he taught me that I was almost there and needed to keep going on another couple of blocks.




日本に着いて早々、浜松町という場所で江戸っ子気質の頼りになるおばちゃんを始め、チラシ配りのお兄さんやスーツ姿のお兄さんに助けられて超絶感動したHit-chanでした。
Oh my..., right after I arrived at my home country, I could meet these wonderful people on the street. I just really appreciate the really friendly, reliable and sweet lady and the 2 nice guys.




そんなこんなで、今回お世話になったホテルはこちら。三交インGrande東京浜松町

Like this, I made a wonderful story on the way to hotel and finally could get there.





このホテルを選んだ基準としては、まずは立地。
There were a couple of reasons why I chose this hotel. One of them is the location.

上の図の下のルートを見たら分かるんですが、最寄り駅の東京モノレールの浜松町駅からホテルまでが徒歩3分である事。
As you can see the bottom route on the map above, the hotel is lacated only 3min walk away from the closest monorail station, Hamamatsucho.




また、翌日新幹線に乗って京都に入る予定だったので、新幹線が乗れる品川駅へは浜松町駅からJR山手線で1駅で行けるという事。
I planned to take Shinkansen, a bullet train, to get to Kyoto on the next day, so it was very convenient that Hamamatsucho station was only 1 station away from Shinagawa station where I can catch Shinkansen.



そして、泊る部屋も今までなら一番安い部屋でOKだったんですが、めいも一緒に同じベッドに寝るので大きなベッドがあるホテルというのも大事でした。
Until May-chan was born, I'd choose the cheapest room just for a night, but I prefferred a room with a bigger bed this time since I was going to sleep in the same bed with May-chan.





結果、こちらのモルトグランデルームを予約しました。（画像拝借元）
After some research, I chose this room.




チェックインするまで唯一心配だったのが、こちらのホテルのチェックアウトの時間は通常10時という事で少し早かったんです。
My only concern until we checked in the hotel was their check-out time which was 10am and earlier than other hotels.




ですが、事前に調べると混雑していなければ有料でチェックアウト時間を延長できるとの事でした。
Still, they had a service to extend your check-out time with some commission fee which was $10 for an extra hour as far as they're not too busy.



一応、ホテルに直接問い合わせをしてみると、実際にチェックアウト時間を延長できるかどうかはチェックイン当日になってみないと保証できませんとの事。
So, I emailed them to ask if I could use the service beforehand and their answer was that they couldn't guarantee until they figured out how busy it would be on my check-in day.




なので、実際にチェックアウト時間を延長できるかどうか不安だったんですが、チェックインの時に聞いてみたら問題ないとの事で、翌日は12時のチェックアウトにしてもらいました。
That's why I was a little worried if I could extend my check-out time until the last minute, but they let me extend my check-out time to 12pm without any problem.




無事、ホテルにも着いて、チェックアウトの時間も延長できて、ようやくホッとする事ができました。
Oh well, we safely got to the hotel and could extend the check-out time, and then I finally could get relieved.




チェックイン早々部屋が散らかった。(笑)　めいにもようやくハイハイさせてあげられました。
Sorry about the messy room. LOL I was so happy that I could let May-chan crawl as she liked at last.




ベッドも片側は壁に密着していたので、めいを壁側に寝かすと落ちる心配をしなくて済みました。
One of the bed sides was against the wall which was helpful for me not to worry if May-chan would fall from the bed while she slept.




あまり記憶が確かではないんですが、多分、チェックインしてすぐ後に、ホテル前にあるコンビニでこの日の夕食を買ったと思います。
I don't remember much about the night, but I think that I bought some food for the night's dinner and the next day's breakfast at a convenience store right in front of the hotel.




コンビニから帰って来て、しばらくしてめいは就寝。（この時点で日本時間午後4時くらい）
After we're back from shopping at the convenience store, May-chan fell asleep. (It was around 4pm in Japan time.)





長旅疲れたもんねぇ。
You did a great job on the long trip, hon!!




めいが寝ている間、布団でベッドから落ちないようにして、Hit-chanはお風呂に入りました。久しぶりの底の深いバスタブ。気持ち良かった～。
While she's sleeping, I put some pillows and the cover around her not to make her fall from the bed and then took a bath. Yeah, a Japanese deep bathtub for the first time after several months! It was just soooooo good!



そんな訳で、第2弾の今日も、長距離フライトの後の空港からホテルまでの道中で終わっちゃいました。(笑)
Okay, this vol.2 article is also finished only with a story from the airport to the hotel. LOL




長旅で疲れてたし、ホテルまでの道も知らない土地で不安一杯だったんですが、本当に思いがけず出会ったおばちゃんの優しさが心にしみ込んで大感動しました。
Needless to say, I was exhausted both mentally and physically because of the long tirp and the unfamiliar area, but the unexpected meeting with the sweetest lady on the street just made my day!

めいの初日本 vol.1 (May-chan's 1st Japan Trip 1)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your life treating you today?




さて、ようやく初めてめいを連れて帰った日本帰国日記を書いていきたいと思います。
Okay, finally, yeah finally, I want to start writing the diaries of May-chan's 1st Japan trip from today.




日本に帰国していたのは9月3日から10月22日までの合計7週間でした。
We stayed in Japan for 7 weeks from September 3rd to October 22nd.



今回初めて子供連れで長時間飛行機に乗る上、Andyっちは一緒に来られなかったので一人で頑張らないといけないという事で結構緊張していました。
It was not only very first for me to take a long flight with a baby but also Andy couldn't come with us either. So, I was honestly super nervous about this trip.



帰って来てからもう2ヶ月過ぎているので記憶が薄れてきているのですが、覚えている限りでこちらに記録を残していきたいと思います。
It's already over 2 months since May-chan and I came back home in MN, which means some of my memories are already faded away. Though, I want to write down about all the fun and wonderful time we had in Japan here as much as I remember.




出発の日、Andyっちが在宅勤務にしてくれたのか、半休を取ってくれたのか忘れましたが、車で空港まで送ってくれました。
On the day we're leaving, I don't remember if Andy took the half day off or worked from home, but he gave us a ride to the airport.



今回、Hit-chan一人で頑張るという事だったので、Andyっちも色々心配してくれて、空港のセキュリティゲートを通過するのを優先的にできるClearという有料サービスに登録してくれました。
Not only me who was super nervous about this trip but also Andy was, so he nicely signed me up for this service called Clear so that I could go through the security gate with a minimum work.




正確に言うと、Andyっち本人は仕事で出張が多いので既に登録しており、今回の旅では1回だけ利用できる家族向けお試しサービスを使ったので無料で登録する事ができました。
You're supposed to pay some fee for the service, but I didn't have to. Well, here's the thing. Andy was actually already a member of the service since he takes flight very often and had a free trial for the family. So, I used it.

なので、空港では長い列を横目に専用の優先ゲートからセキュリティ検査を受ける事ができました。
（逆にあまりにもスムーズに検査場に入れてしまったので、Andyっちとのお別れがちゃんとできなくてちょっと残念でした。）
Thanks to the service, May-chan and I could pass the long line for the security at the arport by using their priority line and had the secutiry check done.
(Though, it's too bad in a way because the process to enter the priority line was too quick to let us have enough time to say goodbye to Andy well.)



通常検査では、両手を挙げて全身スキャンをしないといけないと思うのですが、めいを連れての検査だったので、全身スキャンではなくよくある金属探知機のゲートを通るだけでOKでした。
As far as I know, you usually need to go through a full body scanner check at an airport in the US, but May-chan and I didn't have to at the time. Instead of the scanner check, all I needed to do was going through a metal detector gate with May-chan in my arms.



赤外線検査に関しては、通常と同じパソコン類は外に出して、ベビーカーは折りたためたので折りたたんで係の人に渡しました。
（通常ならいつも靴も脱いで赤外線にかけないといけなかったと思うのですが、この時は靴は脱がなくて良かったように思います。）
As for the infrared radiation check for your luggage, it was pretty much same as other passengers. I took out my laptop from my back pack and folded the stroller and handed it to the staff.
(I thought that we're supposed to take off our shoes and have them scan them too, but I didn't have to do it this time.)




無事セキュリティ通過！
We made the security check!!



ベビーカーに関しては、飛行機に搭乗するゲートで預ける事ができ、飛行機を降りた時点でピックアップできるので本当に楽でした。
Speaking of the stroller, you could make a gate check in and pick up with it. So, I could use mine until we boarded the plane at MSP and pick it up right at the plane exit door at Haneda airport. Needless to say, it was super helpful.




一応、セルフィ―も頑張って撮ってみましたが、めいを抱っこしながらは難しい。飛行機も入れたかったけど、光の調節ができなかったよ。（涙）
I tried to take a selfie with May-chan like this, but it's a little hard to do it as holding May-chan in my arm. I wanted to capture the plane on the pic too but couldn't adjust the brightness well.




フライトの時間は午前11時20分だったのですが、余裕を持って空港に来たので搭乗時刻まで時間を潰しました。
Our flight was at 11:20am, but we got to the airport about 3 hours before the flight time, so there was kind of a long waiting time to kill at the airport.





めいにできるだけ疲れてもらう為に、人のいない場所でハイハイさせました。
I wanted May-chan to consume some energy before the long flight so let her be active as much as she wanted in the no crowded area.




搭乗時刻までにカリブーコーヒーで飲み物を買ったりしたんですが、その時に持って行った魔法瓶にもめいのミルク用のお湯も一緒にもらいました。
To be prepared for the long flight, I also got a coffee and some snacks at Caribou coffee and at the counter, I asked them to fill some hot water in my travel thermos so that I could make some formula for May-chan with it.




そろそろ搭乗だなぁというくらいにめいを連れてトイレに行き、オムツを替えて、服をパジャマに着替えさせました。
Right before the boarding time, I went in a bathroom and changed May-chan's diaper and clothes to pajamas.




で、搭乗直前にミルクを作って、ゲートでベビーカーを預ける手続きをしてもらいました。
Then, I made some formula ready and checked in the stroller at the gate counter.




実はめいを連れて歩いていると声をかけてもらう事が多く、トイレの中では韓国に行く女性から「どこに行くの？私は韓国。日本？良い所ねぇ。楽しんできてね！」と声をかけてもらい、搭乗前にはお父さん、お母さん、お姉ちゃん、弟くんの4人家族と出会い、お姉ちゃんからは「今から日本に行くの？私達も！私は○○で生まれたんだけど、弟は○○で生まれたんだよ。引っ越し一杯してるの。」と色々と教えてもらいました。
Actually, when I walk around with May-chan, a lot of people kindly talk to me in general. Even at the airport, this lady nicely talked me like, "Where are you going? I'm going to South Korea. Japan? Such a beatiful country! Have a nice trip!" and also before the boarding, I ran into this family of dad, mom, big sister and little brother. The cute girl was so friendly and taught me a lot of things about her like, "Are you guys going to Japan too? I was born in XX and my brother was born in XX. We move around a lot!"



お父さんがミリタリーに勤めていらっしゃるようで、お仕事の都合上、世界のあちこちに転勤があるようです。
It sounds like that her father served in the military, and they had moved around different locations in the world.



弟くんもめいに興味津々で、めいに触れようとして、ママから「ダメダメ、見るだけよ！」と教えてもらってました。弟くんも人懐っこくて、お姉ちゃんと同様、色々とHit-chanに話してくれました。
The boy was super friendly jsut as his sister was and curious about baby May-chan and even tried to touch her. Though, his mom softly told him, "No touch, hon! Just looking."




やっぱり、小さい頃から色んな環境に住んでいると物怖じしないで人とコミュニケーションが取れるようになるのかなぁと感心してしまいました。
The little friends taught me that experiences in different cultures and people might build your friendly communication skill.





無事搭乗
Now we're on board!




今回、飛行機を予約する時にどの席を選ぶかで色々と悩んだんですが、結局一番後ろの通路側にしました。
So, one of the things which made me think the most about was which seat I should have booked on the flight. After all research and consideration, I booked one on aisle and the back end.




行きも帰りもこの一番後ろの通路側を選んだんですが、これは良い選択だったなぁと思ってます。
I chose the same spot on the return flight too and I would say that it was the best choice.




個人的に、いつもデルタ航空を使っているので他の航空会社の飛行機がどうなっているのかは分かりませんが、デルタ航空の飛行機の一番後ろにトイレが2つあるのですが、このトイレがその他のトイレよりも大きかったんです。
Personally, I always fly with Delta and don't know about other airlines, but on the plane that we took this time, there were 2 bathrooms on the back end, and they're bigger than other bathrooms that I'd ever used before.



Hit-chanは使わなかったんですが、このトイレにはおむつ交換テーブルもありました。
I didn't need to use it, but there's a changing table in the big bathroom too.




普通のトイレは1人でも結構狭い感じがしてたんですが、この一番後ろのトイレに関してはめいを連れて入ってもそれ程不便を感じなかったので良かったです。
The normal economy bathroom feels so tight even for 1 person, but the ones on the back end was spacy and good enough for May-chan and me at the same time.




そして、今回はラッキーにもHit-chanの座席と同じ列の窓側と真ん中の席は空いていたんです！
Besides the bigger bathrooms on the back end, how lucky I was! There's nobody sitting on other 2 seats (the window side and the middle) on my row!




なので、予約した席は通路側の1席だけでしたが、実質3席とも使い放題でした。（ありがとー！）
So, that means that I could use all the 3 seats just with 2 of us even though I booked only 1 seat. (Thank you!!!)




フライトはミネアポリスから羽田までの12時間35分。
The direct flight from MSP to Haneda was 12hours and 35mins.




めいを連れての初フライト。
Again, it was my first flight with May-chan.




こればっかりはやってみないと分からないのでドキドキしていましたが、蓋を開けてみると案外スムーズにいきました。
Well, I couldn't tell how it would go even if I had tried to get everything prepared for it. Though, all of my concerns thankfully didn't turn out to be real, and my first flight with May-chan went pretty good.




「赤ちゃんは耳抜きが上手くできないから離陸の時にミルクを飲ませるのが良い。」とネットで読んだので、めいにも離陸の際にミルクをあげようとしたんですが、その時はお腹が空いていなかったのか何なのか、ほとんど飲まず。
One of the Internet information was saying, "You should give your baby milk when taking off since they can't relieve ear pressure well by themselves.", so I tried to make May-chan drink some formula when we took off. Though, she wasn't hungry or something and didn't take much.




「耳抜きできるんやろうか？」と心配になったんですが、その後もめいは何事もなく通常運転でいてくれました。
So, I was wondering, "Is her ear pressure fine?" and was a little bit worried if she'd start crying because of a pain in her ears. Though, she was doing just as usual after that too.




一応、事前に機内食で離乳食を頼み、市販の離乳食も持ち込み、食べさせやすいように市販の離乳食のパックに取り付けられるスプーンも買ったりしていたんです。
I also pre-ordered a baby meal for the flight and brought some pouch food with me too. Plus that, I got these pouch spoons which would make our meal time easier.

が、結局めいは機内ではそんなに食べたり飲んだりせず、Hit-chanの機内食についてきたパンを少し食べました。
Oh well, even though I was so prepared, May-chan didn't eat so much on the flight. She liked eating a bread which came with my meal.




12時間35分のフライトの内、めいが寝たのはトータルで4時間から5時間くらいかな？
During the 12hours and 35mins flight, May-chan slept about for 4-5hours.




もちろん、抱っこ紐を使ったので、ずっと腕だけで支えておく必要はありませんでした。
Of course, I brought my strap carrier with me so that I didn't have to hold her just with my arms.




そんなに長くは寝てくれませんでしたが、それ以外の時間もずーっと大人しくしてくれ、数回少し愚図ったりしましたが、その都度立ってトイレに行くと機嫌を直してくれたので本当に楽でした。
Even though she didn't sleep for a long, she was being such a good baby on the flight. She stayed calm and quiet on my lap most of the time and even when she got a little fussy a couple of times, she's back to a happy baby after I got up and went to the bathroom with her.




長いフライトを無事終えた時も、クルーの方から「本当に良い子にしてたね！」と言われたくらいです。
Again, she was such a good baby on the very long flight and one of the crews nicely said, "You were such a good baby!!" when we're getting off the plane.




まぁ、そんな訳で、帰国日記第一弾はフライトの様子だけで終わっちゃいましたが、こうして無事に日本に着いたのでした！
Okay, the 1st article of May-chan's 1st Japan trip was only about the long flight, but we safely arrived my home country like this!!

めいの1歳の誕生日 (May-chan's 1st Birthday!)

どもども。
Hello!



皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing?




いやぁ、クリスマスが10日後に迫っていますが、忙しい！！
Oh my, what a busy time of the year!!! Christmas is coming in 10days, and we are busy!




このブログをずっと読んでくださっている方はご存知だとは思うのですが、我が家のクリスマスはプレゼントの数が半端ないんですよ。
If you've read my blog for a while, you would know that my family exchange so many presents on Christmas. Yeah, it's a lot.




それでも昨年まではもうちょっと余裕を持って用意をしていたように思うのですが、今年はめいがいるのとAndyっちの仕事が大変なのとで結構ギリギリな感じの進行状況です。
I guess that we were doing better to get things ready for Christmas by last year, but we're kind of running late this year. We have May-chan this year, and also Andy's been working super crazy lately and doesn't have much free time.



ちゃんとクリスマスまでに用意できますように！
I do hope that we'll get everything done by Christmas!!




さて、11月30日は我が家の娘、めいの1歳の誕生日でございました。
So, November 30th was, our loving daughter, May-chan's 1st birthday!



ただ、今年は感謝祭が28日、ブラックフライデー（我が家はツリーハントに行く日）が29日、そしてめいの誕生日が30日と、3日連続で大きなイベントが重なりまして、結構忙しくなりました。
Though, it was right on Thanksgiving week, and we had 3 big events for 3 days in a row on the week, Thanksgiving on the 28th, Christmas tree hunt on the 29th and May-chan's birthday on the 30th.



めいの記念すべき1歳の誕生日ですが、世間ではたくさんのお金をかけて盛大にパーティーを開いてお祝いする家族も少なくないみたいですが、我が家は至ってシンプル＆落ち着いた雰囲気で祝う事に決めていました。
The 1st birthday is very special for every kid and especially for their parents, and I hear that some people spend lots of thier time, enery and money on their child's 1st birthday. Though, Andy and I just wanted to have a very small party to celebrate May-chan's.



まず、誕生日の朝。。。
In the morning on her birthday...





忘れる前に12ヶ月の記念撮影。毎日一緒にいると気づかないけど、結構髪伸びたね。
I did a photo shooting for 12 months anniversary. I'm with her every single day and didn't noticed it that her hair had been much longer.



一時期はこうやって枕に寝転んでくれるなんて無理な話だったんですが、最近はまたおむつ替えの時にある程度ジッと寝転んでくれるようになりました。
For a period of time, it was quite impossible to make her lie down on the pillow for more than a second, but for some reason, she's started not to mind lying still while I change her diaper from some point in time recently.



日本に滞在している時は紙おむつオンリーでやっていたんですが、ちょうどその時期が寝転びたくない時期と被っていたようでちょうど良かったです。
（立たせたままのおむつ替えは超絶困難で、特に我が家では布おむつを使用しているので、こうやってまた寝転んでくれるようになって助かってます。）
I was actually using just paper diapers when we stayed in Japan, but now I think that it was right in the time when she didn't want to lie still. So, I'm glad that it was a good timing.
(It's super hard to change a cloth diaper with May-chan in her standing position, so I'm so glad that she's back to be fine with lying down when I change her diaper.)


そんな事は言いつつも。。。
Even if I said that she's fine with lying down...,




ジッとしてくれる時間はとても短くて。。。
the time was super short and...,




すぐに脱走を図ります。（あるある）
she always wants to run away in a minute or so.


本当はこの日、前日のブラックフライデーで行けなかったツリーハントを朝にしようかという案があったんですが、大雪でキャンセル。
I wrote about this on the Thanksgiving article, but we had to cancel Christmas tree hunt on Black Friday which was the day before May-chan's birthday. So, we also had an alternative idea which we would go to tree hunt in the morning on May-chan's birthday, but it snowed a lot on the day, and we passed the idea.




でも、それで良かったです。
Thoguh, I personally liked it that we didn't go to tree hunt in the morning.




前夜にこの誕生日会の準備で夜遅くまで起きていたので、朝はある程度のんびりできて有難かったですもん。
It's becuase that I kind of wanted to be lazy in the morning untill the party began since I was working hard on getthing things ready for the party the night before and a little bit tired already.




で、大雪の中、パパママとブラッド君が我が家に来てくれました。
Anyways, we had all the guests over, Dad&Mom and Brad, as always.





で、この日のお食事の内容は、簡単にスパゲティとミートボール。そしてガーリックブレッド。
The party food was super simple as well. We just made spaghetti&meatballs and garlic bread.





スパゲティのトマトソースは市販の物を買ったんですが、ミートボールはAndyっちが前夜に頑張って手作りしてくれました。（美味しかったよ～！）
We used Newman's tomato sauce, but Andy made the meatballs from scractch the night before. (Thanks, hon!)





めいちゃん、1歳のお誕生日おめでとう！！
May-chan, happy 1st birthday!!!




で、美味しい食事の後はケーキにしようか、プレゼントにしようか悩んだんですが、Andyっちが「今ご飯食べたばっかりだから、めいはお腹空いてないやろう。」と言ってくれて、プレゼントタイムを先にする事にしました。
I was debating between present or cake first, but Andy gave me a smart opinion, "We just ate, so May-chan's not hungry yet." So, we decieded to do the present time first.




この日の主役は玄関で楽しんでプレゼントに見向きもしなかったので、ダディが一生懸命気を引いています。(笑)
Well, in the beginning, May-chan was more into playing by the front door than presents, so Daddy tried to get her attention with the presents.




で、ようやくプレゼントタイム開始。もちろん、気になるのは包装紙やリボン。
Finally, she discovered something more interesting in her sight, and the present time started. Of course, she was attracted to the wrapping paper and the ribbons first.




ダディに手伝ってもらいながら開封。
Then, she got some help from daddy and started opening the presents.




私達からは前に持っていてお気に入りだったけど、旅行中に失くしてしまったボール。それと音の出る絵本。
This was from us. SHe had the same ball with a different color which was one of her favorite toys, but we lost it during a trip up north. So, we bought it again, and plus the ball, we gave her a music book too. (A book with some buttons and plays music if you push a button.)




グランパ＆グランマとブラッド君からのプレゼントも。

途中、箱を味見しつつ。。。
She didn't forget to try taste the box, of course,




無事開封。カシャカシャ音がする絵本とお洋服と髪留め。
and opend it. She got a fun cloth book, a couple of cute clothes and some lovely hair pins too.


実はAndyっちとHit-chan、家族の皆にお願いしてめいにはおもちゃを買い与え過ぎないようにという事をお願いしているんです。
In fact, Andy and I asked our family not to buy too many toys for May-chan since she's in the easiest spot to be sopiled in the family.



なので、皆、私達の意向に沿ってお洋服や本をプレゼントしてくれました。
So, everybody gave her clothes or a book as her birthday presents.



プレゼントタイムの後、少しゆっくりしてケーキタイムをしました。
After the fun present time, we took a little break and then started the cake time.




これがめいの1歳の誕生日ケーキ。Hit-chanが手作りしました。
This is May-chan's 1st birthday cake. I made it.



スポンジ部分を何度か試作して、蒸しパンにしたり、パンケーキにしたりしましたが、結局最後は普通のスポンジ生地のレシピでいきました。
（玉子、小麦粉、砂糖のみで作るレシピです。）
I actually did some experiments for the sponge part and tried to make the cake with steamed bread or pancake. Though, I ended up coming to a very simple sponge cake made with egg, flour and sugar.



クリーム部分も何度か試作したんですが、ヨーグルトをベースにして、そこにラズベリー、りんご、いちごを混ぜ、メープルシロップで少し甘味を加えました。
I also did some experiments for the cream part too and reached to the mixture of yogurt, raspberry, strawberry and a little bit of maple syrup.




でね、食べさせてみたんですが、ラズベリーがちょっと酸っぱ過ぎたみたいで、反応はイマイチでした。（残念！）
So, how did May-chan like it?? Oh well, the berry cream was probably too tart for her, and she didn't like it so much. (Dang!)




多分、もっとバナナとかりんごをメインにしたクリームだったらもっと食べてくれていたと思います。
I bet that she would have liked it more if I made the cream mainly with banana or apple. Too late though.





その代わり、余分に焼いていたスポンジ部分を渡すとこれが大ヒット！
Instead of the cute cake, I gave her only the sponge part that I had baked as an extra, and she really loved it!




あまりにも一生懸命にスポンジにかぶりついていたので、皆も爆笑。
She was eating the sponge cake so vigorously, so everybody was laughing it out.




これがその時の様子。（笑）もともとパン好き人間なので、シンプルにスポンジ部分だけの方が美味しかったようです。
This is it. LOL She's a big bread lover, so I guess that she liked the simple flavor of sponge part better.

多分、多くの子を持つ親が抱く感覚だとは思うのですが、めいが無事に1歳を迎えて、「もう1年か～。」という気持ちと「まだ1年か～。」という相反する気持ちが混ざった感覚でいます。
I assume that many other parents have this same feeling, but when May-chan turned 1 year old healthy, I had this mixed emotion with 2 opposite feelings, "It's already 1 year." and "It's still 1 year."



この1年、何より健康に過ごす事ができましたし、めいを日本に連れて行く事もできましたし、本当にたくさんの楽しい時間を過ごす事ができたと思います。
In the past year since May-chan was born, we thankfully all could be healthy above all. Plus that, I could take May-chan to Japan and introduce her my family and friends there. I'm just so grateful that we could have so many fun moments togehter.




これからも健康第一に家族皆仲良く過ごして、ワクワクする事をいっぱい体験していけたらなぁと思っています。
From now on, I just hope that we'll keep getting along together and share a lot of exciting experience with each other.
