日本2018 (Japan 2018, vol.43)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?



さて、今回の日本帰国にあたり、前もってAndyっちに何をしたいかを聞いたりしていました。
So, before Andy and I came back to Japan, I asked Andy what he'd want to do in Japan.




もちろん、家族と一緒に過ごすというのと、美味しいものを食べたいというのは主な内容だったんですが、それ以外で外せなかったのが。。。
Of course, he wanted to spend time with my family and eat a lot of delicious food, but he also wanted to do this for sure.




鈴鹿サーキットに行く事！
Go to Suzuka Circuit!




でした。(笑)

車好きなAndyっち、TVゲームもレースのものをやっているし、昨年からはアマチュアレースに参戦する為に中古の車を買ったり、部品を買ったりを始めたりもしてます。
You already know this, but Andy loves cars and the video games he plays are mostly racing games and he started doing amatuer car race stuff with his brother from last year as well.




で、日本滞在が1か月くらいを過ぎた頃、「もうそろそろ、鈴鹿に行く計画立てないとなぁ。」という事で、全てネット予約して、3月19日、20日と1泊2日で行って参りました。
When we stayed about a month or so here, we started planning on a one-night trip to Suzuka. I booked everything online and we set out for Suzuka on March 19th.




当日、アパートから1駅の所にあるレンタカー屋さんに行って、車をレンタルしたのですが、その前に少し時間があったのと、Andyっちがタバコを吸いたかったので。。。
In the morning, we took a train to the rental car shop which's 1 station away from our apartment. We still had some time before the shop opened and Andy wanted to smoke, so...

店内はこんなに広くって、喫煙席、禁煙席と分かれています。
The inside the cafe was so spacy and they had kind of separated smoking and smoking-free areas.

まだ、眠そうだねぇ。
She really looks sleepy!



滞在時間は10分くらいでしたが、タバコを吸いたい方とか、ゆっくり仕事をしたい方などには便利なカフェだと思います。
We only stayed at the cafe for 10 mins or so, but I think the cafe would be really convenient for people who want to smoke or just sit and do work for a while.




無事、レンタカーを借りて出発！少し雨が心配。。。
We got a rental car! It seemed to be going to rain that day...




運転はもちろん、Andyっちだよ。
Of course, the driver was Andy as always.








レンタカーについていたナビが良かったので、今回は前回に比べてAndyっちに道を案内するのも落ち着いてできたと思います。
The GPS on the rental car was pretty decent, so I could help Andy better by giving the directions and what not.




高速に入ってからは、こうやって写真を撮る余裕もでました。
Once we got on the highway, we could get more relaxed enough to take this photo.









で、無事鈴鹿サーキット到着。

この日はもう春休みに入っていたのかな？鈴鹿サーキットにある遊園地は家族連れで賑わっていました。
I assume the spring break had already started or something and there were a lot of families in the amusement park.




しみじみ、また来れたね。
Yeah, you're so happy to be back here.



サーキットの観客席にも自由に入る事ができるのですが。。。
You can enter the audience seat areas in the circuit, but...




遊園地に比べて、こっちは人が全然いない！私達はこっちがお目当てだったので、その方がゆっくり周れて良かったです。
Nobody's there!!! Walking around the circuit was what Andy wanted to do, so it was very nice for us that the areas were so empty and quiet.




この日のサーキットでは、走行会をやってたみたいで、ビュンビュン車が走っていました。
On the day, the owners of this specific car gathered and were driving on the circuit.




心配していた雨も大丈夫で、こうやってサーキットの周りを二人でゆっくり歩きました。
We're a little worried about rain, but thankfully, it didn't rain much and we could enjoy walkling around the circuit.




で、1時間ほど歩いた後、Andyっちがお腹が減ったというので。。。
After one-hour walk, Andy got hungry, so we headed to...





最近できたというホットドックスタンドへ。

お腹がいっぱいになった後は、Andyっちがやりたかったもう一つの事ができる場所に行きました。
When we got full, we headed to where we could do another fun thing Andy wanted to do.

日本2018 (Japan 2018, vol.42)

Hello!




皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's everything going?




さて、早いものでAndyっちの帰国日が4月11日なので、ラスト2週間で最後の追い込みで行きたいレストランややりたい事を詰め込んでおります。
So, time flies again. Andy's leaving Japan on Apr. 11th, so we are planning to do as many things on his wish list before he leaves.




ちなみに3月31日はHit-chanの母の誕生日なので、今年はAndyっちも一緒にお祝いできるのが嬉しいです。
March 31st is my mom's BD and I'm so happy that he can celebrate it together this year.




さて、3月17日の土曜日、もうかれこれ10年以上前にHit-chanが学校事務職員として働いていた時にお世話になっていたKさんに会いに行きました。
So, on March 17th Saturday, Andy and I had a very fancy lunch with one of my precious friends, K-san, who I used to kind of work with as a school administrative assistant more than 10 years ago.




KさんとはFacebookでつながっているので、近況を知っている間柄でブログも読んでくれているのですが、こうやって直接会うのはもう10年以上でした。
K-san and I are friends on Facebook and we've caught up with our recent lives, but it'd been more than 10years since we last saw each other.




Andyっちにとっては初めてです。
Of course, it was the first time for Andy to meet her.




当日、肉好きのAndyっちの為にKさんが予約してくれたお店がこちら。。。
She booked this nice steak restaurant since Andy loves meat!

当日の京都は前日とは打って変わって、めちゃめちゃ良いお天気！
The day before was raining, but it was so sunny and nice out that day.





お店は四条通に面したところ。On Shijo street.

Hard clum soup. Yeah, I hadn't eaten it for a while. It's delicious!









一つ、一つがいちいち豪華！
Every single thing was so beautiful and delicious!



メインの近江牛！
The main dish was steak!!




近づいて、もう一回近江牛！(笑) もちろん、旨し。
Yeah, again, fabulous steak! Tasty with no doubt!







デザートは6種類くらいの中から3つ選ぶシステムでした。
We could pick 3 out of 6 kinds of dessert.








テーブルに可愛い楊枝入れがあったんで、Andyっち思わず一つもらって財布に入れてました。(笑)
Andy liked this tooth pick covers and he put one in his wallet. Haha.




Kさん、素敵なお店を見つけてくれてありがとう！
Thanks for finding this great restaurant for us, K-san!




10年ぶりの再会でもあり、10年前も仕事でたまに会う関係で、あまりプライベートな事を話した事が無かったんで、初めて知るKさんの一面もたくさんあり、とっても楽しい時間でした。
Like I said, it's a reunion for us after 10years and plus and even when we're working together, we didn't see each other so often since we're wokring at different schools. So, this was our first time to talk about our personal things and I was so happy to get to know more about who she is.



もちろん、今回も話足りなかったので、このお店の隣にあった喫茶店に移動。
Of course, we didn't have time enough to talk about all the old and new days, so we moved to the cafe right next to the restaurant.

スタバ同様、このお店もとっても混んでいてほんのちょっと待たないといけなかったんですが、喫煙席がすぐ空いてラッキー。
Just as Starbucks, this cafe was super busy and we had to wait a little bit to grab a table.




お店の中に焙煎機があって、店内で焙煎されてる感じでした。
They had a roaster in the house, so I think they roast beans there.




ブレンドもたくさんありまして。。。
They have so many different kinds of blend too.




どれがどれか忘れましたけど。。。
I forgot which cup was what, but...




ダーク好きなAndyっちはインド、Kさんは赤ブレンド、Hit-chanはコロンビアを飲みました。
Andy got the darkest roast, India. K-san got their original red blend and I got Colombia.




Hit-chanが学校事務職員になって、Kさんに出会ったのは19歳の時で、人生においても結構どん底に落ちてから、ようやく前向きに歩き始めた時期でした。
I started working as a school admnistrative assistant when I was 19 and it was around when I started positively pursuing my dream after some kind of depression.




そんな時に既にバリバリと仕事をこなしている先輩Kさんを見て、ただただ「凄いなぁ、素敵だなぁ。」と憧れの感情を抱いていたHit-chanなのです。
K-san was so great and could take care of everything by herself at work, so she was my ideal role model.




そんな憧れのKさんと10年の時を経て、今回はシンプルに大切なお友達としてお話ができて、本当に楽しかったし、より親密になれたようで嬉しかったです。
So, I'm very glad that I got a wonderful opportunity to become close friends with her after 10 years.



最後に、コーヒーを飲んだ喫茶店に、こんなものを見つけてKさんにプレゼントしてもらいました。
At last, at the cafe, I found this very interesting thing and K-san bought it for me.





タバコをに合うSmokingブレンド。珍しいでしょ？　Andyっちが吸うので、面白いかなぁと。
This is Smoking blend for tobacco smokers. Isn't it unique? Yeah, Andy smokes, so I thought it'd be fun.




まぁ、そういう訳で、ずっと会いたいと思っていたKさんに、こうやって10年以上ぶりに会えて、Andyっちも紹介できて、本当に良かったです！
Anyways, it was super nice that I finally could get a chance to see K-san after 10 years and introduce Andy to her in person.




Kさん、ありがとう！またミネソタか日本で遊んでくださいね！
K-san, thank you so much for everything! Let's hang out together whenever and wherever we can see each other again!!

日本2018 (Japan 2018, vol.41)

Hi there!



皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?



ブログは数日放置状態でしたが、AndyっちもHit-chan元気でやってます。
Yeah, my blog has been neglected by the author, but both Andy and I are doing pretty well.




日本にいると出かける回数も撮る写真も多いので、なかなか整理する気力が湧かず今日になってようやく重い腰を上げた次第です。
Here in Japan, we hang out more often than when we're in MN and take way more pictures too. So, I hadn't got much energy enough to go through and organize all the pictures for my blog until now. Haha.




今の京都、桜も随分咲いてきて、それでなくても人が多いのに、今週に入ってさらに輪をかけて人が増えて、京都駅付近、四条通などは歩くのも大変です。
In Kyoto, it's in the middle of Cherry blossom season which means there are more people visiting here!!!! From this week, we can see more people around Kyoto station or Shijo-street and that makes it so hard and tiring to walk through.



さて、3月16日の金曜日、Hit-chanが姉さんと呼ぶHさんとご飯を食べに行きました。
On March 16th Friday, Andy and I had a lunch with this lady who I call "Big sis!"




ちなみに姉さんは看護師さんで、Hit-chanが入院している時に看護師さんと患者として知り合って以来、こうやって仲良くさせていただいているのです。
Big sis is a nurse and we met when I was staying in the hospital for the cancer treatment as a patient and a nurse. Since then, we've become close friends.



この日は少し雨がぱらつく日だったので、傘を持って行ったのは。。。
On that day, it was a little raining and we walked to the restaurant with an umbrella.

日本に来てすぐにTVや雑誌で見たお店で、Andyっちがぜひ行きたいと言っていた場所だったので、姉さんに付き合ってもらっちゃいました。
When we just got to Japan, we saw about this restaurant on TV and in a magazine and Andy's wanted to try it out for a while.





お店の中は本当に小さくて、1階はカウンターのみで、2階はこんな感じです。
The place was super small and the 1st floor had only counter seats and the 2nd floor was like this.


















ランチのメインは2種類で、ボロネーゼかニョッキ。
They had only 2 things on the lunch menu. Bolognese or gnocchi.





サラダがついてきて。。。
The lunch meal came with salad too.




姉さんとHit-chanはボロネーゼを選択。
Big sis and I chose the Bolognese.




Andyっちはニョッキ。
Andy picked gnocchi.



味の方は自分のはもちろん、Andyっちのも食べさせてもらったのですが、美味しかったです！！
Andy let me bite his gnocchi and both mine and his were so tasty!





久しぶりに会った姉さん、元気な姿を見れて嬉しかった～。
It'd been like 2 years for me and 3 years for Andy to see Big sis, but we're so glad to see her doing very well.










デザートと食後のドリンクもついて来て。。。
The meal also came with dessert and a cup of tea or coffee too.




姉さんとAndyっちはチョコレートソースのパンナコッタ。
Big sis and Andy picked Pannacotta with chocolate sauce.




Hit-chanはストロベリーソースにしました。
I chose Strawberry sauce.




上のお店のHPにも写真が載っているのですが、注文を取りに来てくれたイタリアのおじさんがすっごくフレンドリーで楽しかったです。
The server guy was Italian and he's super friendly and chatty! You can see his pic on the website from the link above.




姉さんとは近況を話したりして、まだまだ話足りなかったので、そのまま近くのスタバに移動。
We caught up with each other lives at the restaurant, but we still wanted to talk more, so we moved to Starbucks nearby.





日本に来て2度目のスタバかな？前に行った場所とは違うお店に行ったけど、いつでもどこでも混んでるねぇ。
I guess that was my 2nd or 3rd time to use Starbucks and this was a different location from the 1st time one, but they are always so busy anywhere! We barely found a spot to sit this time too.





Andyっちはアイスアメリカーノにキャラメル追加。
Andy got iced Americano with some caramel flavor.





Hit-chanは何とかティーラで、姉さんは何か甘そうな飲み物頼んでたよ。(笑)
I got some tea latte and Big sis got something looking so sweet. LOL




スタバでもいっぱい話して、姉さんは上手にAndyっちにも話を振ってくれて、Andyっちも楽しい時間を過ごせたと言ってました。
At the Starbucks, we talked about a lot and Big sis was super good at letting Andy join the conversations, so he enjoyed the time with her too!




看護師さんとしてバリバリ働いたり、ボランティアしたり、息抜きに一人旅に行ったりと、相変わらず尊敬しちゃう姉さんのままでした。
To me, Big sis always working so hard on her job, volunteer and also enjoy her private too, so I really respect her.




改めて、病気がなかったら姉さんとも会えてない訳で、やはりどんな事にも素晴らしい出会いがついているんだなぁと思った日でした。
This reunion made me realized how blessing it is that I could meet her in my life. Also, I reappreciate the cancer exxperience which brought me to the chance to meet such a wonderful woman as well.




姉さん、今度またいつ会えるか分からないけど、また姉さんがミネソタに来るか、私が帰国するかした時は一緒に遊んでね～！！
Big sis, I don't know when I can see you next, but maybe when you come to MN or when I come back to Japan, let's just have more fun time together!!

日本2018 (Japan 2018, vol.40)

Hi there!



皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing?



最近のニュース番組を見ていて気付いたんですが、もうすぐ桜の季節ですねぇ。
So, when I was recently watching TV and saw them talking about when the cherry blossoms would bloom by the areas this spring. Yeah, that's right! The season of cherry blossoms are almost here!



考えてみると、いつも飛行機のチケットが安い閑散期を狙って帰国するので、桜を見るのはAndyっちは初めて、Hit-chanは8年ぶりになります。
When I think back, we always choose the least busy season to come back to Japan since the flight tickets are relatively cheaper, so it's been 8 years since the last time when I saw the cherry blossoms bloomed. For Andy, I think it'll be his first time ever.



美しい日本の花をAndyっちに見せてあげられる事ができるのは、本当に嬉しいものです。
I'm so happy that Andy can finally see the beautiful flower of Japan this time.



とはいえ、どちらかというと、というか大きな比重で「花より団子」な性格のHit-chanなので、日本での美味しいグルメは相変わらず楽しんでおります。
Even though, there's an expression in Japanese like "Sweet dumplings than beautiful flowers" which is eactly who I am, so Andy and I still have enjoyed delicious Japanese food here.



3月11日のこの日、またまた妹2のスカッチとその彼氏さんのNさん、そして妹1のスイッチも一緒にまたまた焼肉を食べに行きました。
On March 11th, Andy and I asked my twin sisters, Swich&Skatch, and Skatch's boyfriend, N-san to join us for a Korean BBQ dinner.

Oh yeah, this was the 3rd time for Andy and I to eat at this restaurant because it's super delicious!!

いやぁ、皆も質の良いお肉に感動してくれました。
Everybody loved their great meat!




やっぱり、Andyっちと二人で食べるとあまりたくさんの種類が食べられないのですが、この日は5人で食べたので、石焼ピビンパなど食べたかったものを食べられて大満足でした！
The amount that Andy and I can eat with two of us is so limited, so I was very happy that we could try and share something new and different together.









最後はサッパリとバニラ味のかき氷で締めました。
As the dessert, we ordered just one vanilla flavored shaved ice.




数年に一度しか会えないけど、誘うと一緒に付きあってくれる妹ツインズやNさんにはいつも感謝しています。

It's only once in a few years that Andy and I can see my sisters and N-san, but they always come along with us for whatever we want to eat and I really appreciate it.



残された時間は少なくなってきましたが、一緒に過ごせる時間はこうやって楽しく美味しいもの食べて笑って過ごしたいと思います。
The time that we can spend in Japan is getting less and less, but I do want to make the rest of the trip with a lot of delicious food and big smiles!

日本2018 (Japan 2018, vol.39)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How' your life treating you?




さて、今回の帰国にあたり、Hit-chan、楽しみにしていた事はいくつもあるのですが、その中でも特に楽しみにしていたのが、昨年兄夫婦のもとに生まれた姪っ子、ふうちゃんに会いに行く事でした。
So, I got tons of things on my list for this trip, but one of the most exciting events is that meeting my precious and loving niece, Fu-chan (Hoo-chan) who's my big brother's daughter and born last year.




当日、妹2、スカッチと一緒に、兄夫婦の家のある最寄り駅まで行きました。
On the day, my sister2, Skatch and we met up at the station near my brother's apartment.




最寄駅から家までは近いのですが、兄がわざわざ車で迎えに来てくれました。
My brother's apartment was not that far away from the station, but he kindly came to pick us up by his car.




そういえば、兄が実家を出て行ってから、兄の住んでいる部屋へ訪ねるのは今回が初めてでした。
By the way, this was my very first time to visit where he lives since my brother left my parents' house.





部屋は義姉、Kちゃんのセンスで、綺麗に飾られていました。
The room was decorated so pretty by my sister in law, K-chan.

So lovely, isnt it?





そうそう、この日Andyっちと義姉Kちゃんは初対面でした。
Oh yeah, it was the frist time for Andy and K-chan to meet on that day.





料理上手の兄がお昼ご飯を作っていてくれました。
My brother is such a nice cook and kindly prepped the lunch for us.





絶品ポテトサラダ。Andyっち、感動して、人生で食べたポテトサラダの中で一番美味しいと言ってました。（レシピ聞いたから、ミネソタでも作れそう！）
This is the best potato salad!! Andy really loved it and said it's the best potato salad in his life! (I got the recipe from my brother so that we can make it back home!)





メインは兄お得意のカレー。安定の旨し。
The main dish was homemade curry which is my brother's very good at. As always, it's very tasty!




辛さも甘口と辛口の2種類を作ってくれて、至れり尽くせり。
He nicely made 2 different spicy levels for us.




そうそう、肝心の楽しみにしていたふうちゃんですが、対面直後に大泣き！（汗）
Oh yeah, speaking of my lovely niece, Fu-chan, she cried so hard once we got in the room!!!



母にも聞いていたんですが、ふうちゃん、普段はご機嫌さんで人見知りもしないそうなんですが、この日は何故かギャン泣きでした。（泣）
My mom was telling me that Fu-chan is such an easy and happpy baby and usually doesn't get shy even with strangers, but not that day!!!




兄夫婦も、「どうしたんやろうなぁ‐。」と首をかしげておりました。
My brother and his wife, K-chan were also wondering, "What's wroung with her today?"

義姉に抱かれると泣き止むのですが、Hit-chan達が近づくとNG。
Fu-chan stopped crying when she was in her mom's arms, but when any of Andy, Skatch or me got closer to her, she started crying again.




初姪っ子と触れ合いたかった叔母は残念無念。
I was so excited to play with my first niece as her sweet aunt, but it's too bad that I couldn't do it.





本当にいっぱい泣いていたので、ぽてんと眠っちゃいました。眠った顔はビリケンさん、もしくはヒヨコさんみたいで、めちゃくちゃ可愛い！！！！
She really cried a lot, so ended up falling asleep. Her sleeping face looked like the lucky character below or chick and super cute!!

叔母はここぞとばかりに近づいて、何とか2ショットをゲット。Andyっちに「あんまり近づいちゃダメ！」と注意されましたけど。(笑)
I took this big chance to take a photo with my lovely niece and got closer to her, but Andy warned me "Honey, don't go too close to her!!" LOL




おもてなし上手の兄は、手動で豆を挽いてコーヒーを淹れてくれました。
My brother is such a wonderful host and he brewed delicious coffee for us with freshly hand ground beans.





兄が出してきたカップ、忘れてたけど、Hit-chanが贈ったカリブーのんやった！使ってくれてて嬉しい！
He took this cup out on the table and it made me remember that I gave him this Caribou cup before. I'm so happy that he's really using it!





可愛い姪っ子、ふうちゃんを抱っこする気満々でしたが、この日は最後まで打ち解ける事はできず、バイバイする事になりました。
I was planning to hold my pretty niece that day, but I ended up not being able to even touch her until the end of the day.





でもでも、本当に何時間見ていても飽きないくらいの、可愛い寝顔を見る事が出来たので良かったです。
Still, I could enjoy watching her sleeping which won't be boring for hours to me.




ミネソタ帰るまでにもう1回は会いに行って、ふうちゃんとお近づきになりたいと思います！
I hope to visit them again before I go back to MN and try to get closer to Fu-chan next!



ちなみに、アパートに戻ってきてから、兄がメールをくれて写真つきメールをくれて。。。
What's funny is that I got a text from my brother when I went back to our apartment and it said...





「もう全然元気やで。」（爆）
"She's happy already." LOL








ふうちゃん、ツンデレガールなのかな？
Is Fu-chan playing around with me??




とにかく、とにかく、可愛い姪っ子＆兄夫婦に会う事ができて本当に楽しかったです！
Oh my, though Fu-chan was not in her best mood, but I'm so happy that I could finally meet her and see my brother and his wife, K-chan again!




お兄ちゃん、ありがとうね！！
Thank you so much, brother!
