寝返りの練習 (Practice Rollover)

我が家は水回りのトラブルに見舞われておりますが、それ以外は皆ハッピーで元気でございます。
Yeah, our life has got some water troubles around the house, but other than that, everyone's very happy.





今日は日本の母の誕生日でもあります。おめでと～！
Today's my mom's BD too! Happy BD, mom!



さて、Hit-chan、めいを妊娠している頃から読んでいるブログがあります。
Today, I want to introduce one of my favorite blogs here.

このブログを書かれているYukoさん、実はHit-chanがめいを産んだ3日後に娘さんを出産されまして、Yukoさんの娘ちゃんとうちのめいは3日違いなんですよ。
The writer, Yuko-san, actually had her baby girl only 3days after May-chan was born, so her daughter and May-chan are almost at the same age.




でね、先日、このブログを読ませてもらっていると、何と何と、Yukoさんの娘ちゃん、もう寝返りをしたというじゃないですか！！
I was reading her blog the other day and super surprised to hear that her baby girl already did a rollover by herself!!




その記事を読むまでは、毎日タミータイム（うつ伏せ練習）をしていたものの、あまり寝返りに関しては気にも留めていませんでした。
Until I heard the news, I hadn't paid much attention on May-chan if she could do a rollover by herself or not though I had taken some tummy time everyday with her.




もちろん、寝かせる時は仰向けにしてしるんですが、ベッドの中で時計の針みたいに回転はしていたものの、寝返りをする気配はありませんでした。
Of course, I always put May-chan on her back in the pack n' play and have noticed that she rotated her body like a clock hand, but it didn't seem so much that she would roll over there.




が、このYukoさんの記事を読んで思い返してみると、おむつを換える時に体を横に向ける事があって、「あー、ちょっとめいちゃん、横向かんといて～。」と言う事が多くなっていました。
When I read Yuko-san's blog and thought back some days, I remembered that May-chan turned her body to the side more often while I changed her diapers.




なので、「あれ、Yukoさんの娘ちゃんができたという事は、うちのめいももうすぐできるんじゃね？」と思い、練習してみる事にしました。
So, Yuko-san's article made me feel like, "Oh, why can't May-chan do rollover by herself cuz Yuko-san's baby can do it already??" and decided to practice rolling over with her.




その様子を動画に撮ったので、シェアしたいと思います。
I shot a vide of the first practice and want to share it here with you guys.






3/27/19 Practice Rollover 1（寝返りの練習）




うちのめい、何故か分かりませんがめっちゃ楽しそうに練習してくれて、見ているこっちまで面白くて笑っちゃいました。
As you could see it in the video, I don't know why, but May-chan was really enjoying the practice and she made me laugh a lot.




うつ伏せから仰向けの寝返りは、動画にあるようにまだサポートが無いとできないんですが、このまま練習したらすぐにでも自力で寝返りできそうな感じです。
May-chan still needs a little of support to roll over from the back to the tummy, but she's almost there, and the day will probably come so shortly.




でね、この寝返りの練習を始めた翌日、タミータイム（うつ伏せ練習）をしていたら、全然練習してないのにうつ伏せから仰向けの寝返りがいきなりできたんですよ！？
And guess what?? Well, what a surprise! May-chan did a rollover from the tummy to the back by herself on the next from the first practice. We're just having some tummy time which was a daily routine, and she suddenly rolled over!



あまりに突然したもんだから、記念すべき最初の1回目と2回目をカメラに収める事はできませんが、慌ててカメラを手に取って3回目は動画に撮る事ができました。
Like I said, it was totally unexpected, and I missed to record the most memorable 1st and 2nd rollovers in my camera. Though, I grabbed my camera right after that and caught the 3rd one!






3/29/19 The First Rollover from Tummy to Back（初めての寝返り・うつ伏せから仰向け）




嬉しかったので、この動画を出張中のAndyっちとママ（めいのグランマ）にメールしたら、ママが、
I was so excited by this moment and couldn't help sharing it with Andy(out of town for work) and mom by email. Then, mom said,




「可愛い～！！でもパパ、早く柵を取り付けないと、すぐにハイハイし始めるよ～！！」
"So cute!! Daddy better get that baby gate up now, she will be rolling all over...and scooting around!!!




という返事が返ってきました。
LOL




本当、まだ4ヶ月、されど4ヶ月、できる事が増えてきて、こんあ感じであっという間に大きくなっていくんだろうなぁとしみじみ実感しております。
It's only 4months, but already 4months old. May-chan has been able to do more and more things, and it makes me feel that she'll grow up super fast from now and on.




これからも体力的、時には精神的に大変な時がたくさん訪れるのかもしれませんが、Hit-chan、めいが成長する様子をしっかりと楽しんでいきたいと思ってます！
I think that there would be a lot of hard times coming both phisically and mentally in the future as a parent, but I do want to have fun with watching how my daughter grows up!

バッドニュース (Bad News and Bad News)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?



我が家のめい、もうすぐ4ヶ月になるんですが、つい先日からスリープトレーニングを始めました。
So, our loving daughter, May-chan, turns 4months shortly, and I've started sleep trainig with her.



日本語ではねんトレって言われるみたいで、最初、ねんトレの「ねん」って何かの英単語の一部かと思っていたんですが、調べたら「ねんね」トレーニングの略だったんですね。(笑)
In Japanese, it's called "Nen-Tore".



ある日突然思い立って、調べてみると4ヶ月くらいからもスリープトレーニング始めても良い感じだったので、その日の午後から始めました。
I just came up with doing it one day and googled how to do it. Then, it sounds like that I could start it even earlier than 4months old, so I began to put May-chan on sleep as a certain sleep schedule from the afternoon.




まだまだ始めて日にちが経っていないので何とも言えませんが、今のところ順調かな？
It hasn't been long enough to judge how I'm doing it, but so far, I think that I've been doing fine.




まぁ、これについてはまた違う記事で書くかもしれませんが、今日は軽く近況報告。
I might write about this sleep training on a different article and I want to talk about our recent news today.




さて、ミネソタのこの冬、結構な雪が降りまして、このブログにもその様子を書きました。
Here in MN, we got tons of snow in winter and I wrote about it here before.



















でね、もう4月になるという今、こんな感じになっています。
It's almost April and like this outside.










埋もれていた我が家の郵便受けもようやく全貌を現しました。(笑)
Our mailbox finally showed up the entire figure. Haha.




そうなのよ、もう4月になるのにまだクリスマスライト出しっぱなし。トナカイさんも雪だるまさんも。(笑)
Yeah, I know, we haven't taken the Christmas decoration down yet. Yeah, the reindeer and the snowman are still there.



つい最近まで雪に埋もれたから、なかなか片付けられなかったのよねぇ。早く片付けなくちゃ。（汗）
They were stuck in a lot of snow till a couple of weeks ago, which delayed us to take them down. Yeah, we gotta do it soon.




でね、雪がやっと溶けて、お散歩もできるようになって、「嬉しい～！！」と思っていたある日のこと、Andyっちが
Anyways, one day, when I was so happy seeing most of the snow gone and being able to go out for a walk, Andy came to me and said,




「なぁ、バッドニュースとバッドニュースがあるんやけど。。。」
"Oh well, I have a bad news and a bad news..."




と言ってきました。
OMG!




日本語でも言うと思うんですが、英語の表現でも、「良いニュースと悪いニュースがあるんやけど、どっちから聞きたい？」って良く使うんです。
There's a same expression in Japanese, but we often use this phrase, "I have a good and news and a bad news. Which one do you wanna hear first?"




が、この時は選択肢に悪いニュースしかない訳で、Hit-chan、思わず「え、何？！！」と答えてしまいました。
Yeah, but at that time, I only had bad options and couldn't help saying, "WHAT??!!"




で、何があったのか聞いたら、やっぱり悪いニュース、我が家の地下がまた浸水してました。。。。
Then, he said that the basement got flooded again. Yeah, it's a very bad news.





あーあ、折角綺麗にしたところやのに～。
Sigh....I cleaned it recently!



幸い、水漏れがあった箇所は小さく、リフォームしためいの部屋とゲストルームには及んでおらず、そこまで酷い事にはなっていませんでした。
Luckily, the flooded spot wasn't very big and didn't reach to May-chan's room or the guest bedroom which we redid and reorganized last year.





発見した日、何と何と、Andyっちは出張に行く日だったので、家を出る前に急いで水を吸い込んでもOKな掃除機で吸い込んでくれました。
The day that Andy found it was actually the day that he was leaving for Conneticut as another business trip, so he vacuumed the carpet quickly right before he left home.




このブログにも書いたんですが、我が家は引っ越してすぐの年に地下が浸水して、その時の原因箇所はほぼほぼ修理しており、それ以来浸水被害はありませんでした。
I've wrote about this here, but the basement of our house got flooded in the next year after we moved in. Though, we fixed most of the causes already and haven't had any flood since then.



で、今回の原因箇所はガレージの床部分の亀裂で、前々からAndyっちが「直さないとあかんなぁ。」と言っていた部分のようです。
This time, the water seemed to come in from the crack in the front garage which Andy's been saying, "We need to fix it." for a while.




お察しの通り、直すにもある程度のお金が必要な訳で、普段の雨くらいであれば大丈夫なので、「またお金を貯めて。。。」と考えていたんです。
Needless to say, you always need a certain budget for this kind of house project, and we haven't got any leak so far even when it rains hard. So, we were thinking that we could do it when we save enough money for it.




ですが、最初にお見せした写真のように、この冬の雪が多かったのと、急に暖かくなって溶けるスピードが速かったのとで、ガレージの床にある亀裂部分へ大量の水が流れてしまったようです。
As the pictures on the top, we got tons of snow in winter, and it became so warm very quickly after that. So, I assume that a lot of melted snow water ran into the crack in the garage.




我が家はまだこれくらいの浸水被害で済んでいますが、この春、ミネソタのあちこちの家で浸水被害が出ているみたいです。
Our house case wasn't that horrible this time, but I hear that a lot of people has faced to flood issue this spring.




将来的にガレージの床部分を直してから、地下のカーペットを張り替えたいとも思っています。
Andy and I are thinking to install new carpet in the basement after we fix the crack in the garage.



あとね、もう一つ水関係で我が家にボロが出てまして、ある日、マスターバスルームのバスタブを掃除してたら、バスタブに小さな割れ目を発見しちゃったんです。（汗）
Besides the flood issue, we found another problem about our house too. When I was cleaning the bath tub in the master bedroom the other day, I found a small crack in the bath tub. Oh no!




原因は不明で、何かを強くぶつけた記憶もないし、Andyっちに報告したら、「もしかすると、壁の中のパイプのどこかが漏れているかもしれへん。」との事でした。
We don't know the cause yet, but I don't remember that we hit something hard in the spot or something. Andy said, "There might be a leak somewhere behind the wall."




Andyっちから、原因を突き止めるまで、マスターベッドルームではシャワーはOKだけど、バスタブにお湯をためてお風呂に入るのはNGというお触れが出ちゃいました。
Andy told me that I could take a shower upstaris but had to use the basement bathroom for my bath time until he figured it out.




なので、それ以来Hit-chan自身のバスタイムも、めいのバスタイムも全て地下のバスルームで過ごしています。
So, I've been using the basement bathroom not just for my bath time but also May-chan's bath time.





このバスルームでも全く問題なんですが、強いて言えば、めいをバスタブから出して服を着せるのに、床の面積が狭い！(笑)
I don't mind using this bathroom at all, but if I'd say one thing, there's not much floor space, so it feels a little bit tight to put May-chan cloths on there.




でもでも、本当に家にバスタブが2つもあって良かった～。
I just appreciate that we have 2 bath tubs in our house!!!




まぁ、そんな訳で、今日は我が家のバッドニュース事情でした！
Anyways, I just shared our bad news with you guys today.




持ち家があると色々と修理箇所が出てきたりしますが、何はともあれ、家族皆元気なのが一番～！
Home owners have to deal with a lot of things about their house, but in any case, everybody in my family is doing great, so there's nothing to complain!

めいちゃんと（で）遊ぶ (Play with May-chan)

どもども。
Hi there!



皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your life treating you today?



Hit-chanは元気です。
Mine's spoiling me as always.



我が家の愛娘、めいはもうすぐ4ヶ月になりますが、元気に育ってくれています。
Our little angel, May-chan turns 4months old soon and is growing up very well.



AndyっちとHit-chanもパパとママになって4ヶ月になり、最近ではめいと一緒に遊ぶ時間も増えてきました。
At the same time, we also turn 4months olf as parents soon and spend more time to play with her lately.



基本、Andyっちは平日働いているので、帰って来て一息ついたらめいとの時間を楽しんでいます。
Andy's usually work during weekdays and takes some time with May-chan after he's back home from work.




まだ寝返りもできないのに、歩く練習をしているところ。(笑)
She even can't roll over by herself yet, but Andy's training her to walk. Haha.




首がしっかり座ってきて、こうやってスーパーマンの格好もできます。
Her neck has been stronger enough to be Superman!




これはまだ2ヶ月くらいの時、お風呂上がりに髪の毛をソフトモヒカンに。(笑)
This is when she was still 2months old and we made her hair Mohawk.Hehe




お休みのお昼、パパのお腹で遊んでもらっています。（床のコードはパパのゲーム関係です。）
It was one weekend afternoon. She's playing on her daddy's belly. (The cords on the floor are daddy's game stuff.)




これはね、Hit-chan考案のめいちゃん釣り。
This is my silly idea, May-chan fishing.




紐の先におしゃぶりを付けて、めいちゃんにくわえてもらうという遊び。（爆）
It's a play to have her suck a pacifier tied to a string in her mouth. LOL




なかなかこれが難しかったんですが、最後には見事めいちゃんが釣れました。
It's pretty hard, but daddy ended up catching her in the end.



まぁ、お気付きの通り、めいと一緒に遊ぶというよりも、私達が一方的にめいで遊んでいるだけですけどね。（汗）
Yeah, it's more like that we're unilaterally playing by using May-chan than that we're simply playing with her.



それでも親子の触れ合いなんで、私達にとっては大切な時間です。
Still, that is a very precious parents&baby time for us.



やっぱりね、パパもめいも遊んだ後は疲れてこうなります。
Playing actually takes a lot of energy from you and both daddy and baby become like this afterward.




この2人、結構同じタイミングで昼寝している事があります。
These 2 actually take a nap at the same time often like this.



もちろん、四六時中一緒にいるHit-chanもめいとかなりの時間遊んでいるんですが、その時間、写真を撮ってくれる人が周りいないので、写真の数の割にはめいとの写真が少ないです。
Needless to say, I'm with May-chan 24-7 and play with her a lot of time, but nobody takes pictures for us around at those moments, so I don't have many pictures of her and me.




そういえば、Andyっちも一緒の3ショットの写真もほとんどありませんねぇ。
For the same reason, we don't have many pictures of 3 of us including Andy either.



これからは、Andyっちに頼んでもっと撮ってもらおうと思います。
At least, I'll have Andy take more pictures of May-chan and me from now.

お散歩できるようになりました。 (Finally warm enough to walk outside)

Hello everyone!



皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?



こちらミネソタ、ようやく春ですよ～。（嬉しい！！）
Here in MN, Spring has finally come! (So happy!!)



めいが11月30日の冬ど真ん中に生まれたので、なかなか外に出かけるのが難しく、お散歩デビューするのに結構時間がかかりました。
May-chan was born in the middle of winter, Nov. 30th, so it took us so long to take a walk outside due to the weather and the bad road condition.



が、ようやくお散歩に出ても大丈夫なくらいに気温が上がってきたので、先日お散歩デビューをしてまいりました。
Now, the temperature has become warm enough for us to walk outside, and May-chan and I finally did our first walk the other day.



正確に言えば、最初の日は家の周りをベビーカーを押して歩いたんですが、我が家の周りには歩道がある道が無いんですよ。
Technically, we had our first walk around our house with the stroller, but unfortunately, there's no sidewalk at all.



なので、路肩部分を歩かないといけなくて車が怖いし、その部分はアスファルトじゃないんでベビーカーを押して歩くには歩きにくい！
So, it's kind of dangerous that we have to walk on road shoulders, and the unpaved shoulders are not friendly for a stroller user!



それに加えて、リードを付けてない大型犬がいるお家が2軒（1匹が1軒と2匹が1軒）あって、歩いた時に両方の家の前で吠えられてちょっとビビっちゃったんですな。
Besides it, there were 2 houses with unleased big dogs in the yards, 1 with 1 dog and 1 with 2 dogs, and I was a little bit scared of them since they ran closer to us barking when we passed the houses.



一応、2匹いるお家の飼い主さんは頑張って犬達をなだめてくれて、Hit-chan達にも「ごめんね～！」と言ってくれたから大丈夫なんですけど、Hit-chan、基本動物は苦手なもんでして。。。
One of the house owners was watching her dogs and trying to calm down them. She even nicely said to me, "Sorry!" and made me comfortable, but still, I'm not a huge fan of animals...



あと、今の時期、路上には雪解け水がいっぱい流れていて、それが溜まって水たまりになっている場所もすごい多いんです。
Plus, in this season, there's a lot of melted snow water running on the ground, and they're making many puddles as well.




まぁ、そんな諸々の理由で家の周りの散歩はやめて、ベビーカーを積んで車で近くの歩きやすい場所まで行ってそこで散歩する方法に変更しました。
Anyways, for those reasons, I gave up taking a walk around our house and decided to drive somewhere else where I can walk more easily with the stroller instead.




で、この日はHit-chanが以前働いていたカリブーがある街まで行ってみました。青空～！
On that day, May-chan and I went to the town where I used to work at Caribou coffee. Yay, the blue sky was out!!




こんな感じで、歩道があるので家の周りと比べて随分歩きやすかったです。
Like this, there are sidewalks which makes my walk much easier.




めいも気持ち良さそうにしてくれてました。
May-chan loved the walk too!



折角この街に来たので。。。
Now we're in this town, so...




Hit-chanの昔の職場にも寄りました。
we stopped by my old work place.



カリブーのトイレにはおむつ交換台があるのを知っていたし、Hit-chan自身の気分転換でコーヒーを飲む事にしたんです。
I knew that they had a changing table in the bathroom, and it was a nice refreshing time for me to enjoy their coffee too.




めいはお店の豪華な椅子で寛いでおりました。
May-chan was enjoying the fancy chair there.



この日はおむつも濡れてなかったし、ミルクもあげてみたけどお腹が空いていなかったみたいで全然飲まず。
Though, I didn't have to change her diaper or feed her at all even if I made some milk for her.



それでも大人しくしていてくれて、いつもと違う雰囲気を楽しんでくれていたみたいです。
She was being so quiet but still seemed to be having fun with the unusual atmosphere.




ママとセルフィー。まだまだカメラ目線はしてくれませんねぇ。（汗）
Selfie with mommy! Yup, she doesn't know how to look at a camera yet though.



この日働いていたスタッフの中に知っている顔はありませんでしたが、昔の顔馴染みの常連さんが何人か見かけました。
（カリブーって、本当、スタッフの入れ替わりが激しいんですよねぇ。）
I checked who was working at the store on the day, but there's nobody I knew. Though, I ran into some familiar regulars there.
(Yeah, there are tons of staff turnovers at Caribou.)



実はこのお店の入り口の扉、手動タイプかつ重たいのでベビーカーを押していると結構開けるのが大変なんです。
BTW, the store front door is pretty heavy and not automatic which was a lot of work for me to open it with the stroller.



が、お店を出る時に、顔馴染みの常連さんがささっと来て開けてくださり、めちゃくちゃ有難かったです。
But, thankfully, one of the familiar regulars came and opend the door for me. That was super helpful!



めいと出かける時はベビーカーを押しているんで、今まで感じなかった不便さに気づく事が増えてます。
Now when I go out with May-chan, I push the stroller with me, so I've noticed more inconvenient things outside the house.



ママとしてまだ4ヶ月、これからも色々と失敗しながら成長していきたいと思ってます。
I'm only 4month old as a mother, so I want to learn more things and grow up as making lots of mistakes.

またまたある週末の日 (Another Weekend Day)

どもども。
Hello there!



皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?



長かった冬を終え、こちらミネソタにもやっと春の香りが漂ってきました。
We went through the long winter and started smelling the warm spring around here in MN.



雪も溶け始めて、道路状況も随分と良くなったのでHit-chanでも車を運転して出かけやすくなりました。
All the snow on the roads has started malting and the street condition became much better enough for me to drive without stress.



さて、今日も週末の買い物の様子を書いていきたいと思います。
Today, I want to write about another ordinary weekend we enjoyed.



この日の予定は、地元のお肉屋さんに行ってからターゲットに行くというものでした。
The shopping plan of the day was that we first would go to our favorite butcher shop and then go to Target.




レッツゴー！

いぇい！青空！
Yay! Blue sky!




お気に入りのお肉屋さん、Mackenthune'sです。
Our favorite local butcher shop, Mackenthune's.



この日は暖かくてお天気が良かったし、そんなに混んでいない時間帯だったので、Hit-chanとめいも一緒にお店の中に入る事にしました。
It was very warm and nice out and the shop wasn't so busy around the time, so May-chan and I went inside the shop with Andy this time.










この日はガールスカウトの女の子たちが入り口でクッキーを売ってまして、Andyっちの好きなピーナッツバターのを一箱買いました。
On the day, there were some girl-scout girls to sell their cookies at the front door, so I bought a box of peanut butter which's Andy's favorite.




お惣菜も売っているので、ランチを買いにくる人も多いです。Andyっちはここのビーフジャーキーが大好きです。
They have a desent selection at the deli section, so many people come and stop by for lunch here too. Andy loves their campfire beef jerky.



めいにとって、初めての店内なんですが。。。
It was May-chan's first visit at the store, but...




気持ち良さそ～うに寝てました。(笑)
She was sleeping soooooo well. Haha.



無事、我が家の分のお肉とパパママの分のベーコンやらを大量に購入しました。
We ended up buying bunch of meat and bacon etc...for ourselves and Dad&Mom.




で、ターゲットに行きます。
Then, we headed to Target.



そうそう、寒いミネソタの冬の買い物にも良いことがありました。
Oh, I know one good thing about shopping in freezing MN winter.



お肉とかアイスクリームを買ってしばらく車に置いていても、自然冷凍庫で腐ったり溶けたりする心配がない！(笑)
In MN winter, you don't have to worry about fresh meat or ice cream going bad or melted even if you leave it in car for a long time. Haha.




ターゲットに到着！
We're here!




ここではめいの粉ミルクと離乳食用のスプーンを買ったりしました。ここではおめめパッチリで起きてました。
I got some formula and baby's spoons for May-chan that day. May-chan was wide awake there.



赤ちゃん用のスプーンは2種類しか無かったんですが、一応、めいの目の前に見せて、「こっちにする？こっちが良い？」と聞いてみましたが、思った通り、キョトンとこっちを見つめるだけで返事は返ってきませんでした。(笑)
At the Target, they only had 2 kinds of baby spoon, but just in case, I showed May-chan both and asked her, "Which one do you like better? This one or this one?" And as you expected, she was just staring at me with her cute eyes.




この先、自我が外に表れて、こんな何気ない買い物の時にも好みの意思表示をしてくれるようになるのかな。楽しみだなぁ。
In the near future, she's going to express her personality out to me and tell me what she likes and what she doesn't. Then, we can enjoy shopping together more. I'm so looking forward to it.




そうそう、あと1、2ヶ月もすれば離乳食が始まるので、それに必要なものを準備し始めました。
Oh yeah, I'm actually getting some things ready for feeding solid food which will start in a couple of months.



でもね、Hit-chan、いつものようにお友達の新米ミネソタンさんにスプーンとかすり鉢セットとか既に頂いたり、親友あきさんからもコップなどをもらったので、そんなに買い足すようなものは無さそうです。

Although, my Japanese friends already gave me a set of mortar and pestle, a couple of baby spoons and cups, so I don't think that I would need to buy lots of things. (Thanks!)



帰りにAndyっちのランチをChipotle（人気のメキシコ料理ファーストフード？店）で買って家に帰りました。
On the way home, we made a quick stop by Chipotle for Andy's lunch.



おまけですが、この日の夕方、ブラッド君が家に遊びに来たのでその時の様子をパチリ。
Later that day, Brad came to our house just to hang out, so I took a pic of it.




ブラッド君に抱っこしてもらって寝てました。(笑)
Yeah, May-chan was sleeping so comfortably in his arms.



という訳で、相も変わらず何気ない休日の様子ですが、過ごした私達は楽しかったです！
Okay, this is all about one of our ordinary weekends, but we had much fun!
