4/4 パパママのお家にお泊り (At Dad&Mom's house 4/4)

How's your life treating you today?





さて、今日も前回に引き続き、夫婦水入らずで過ごした2日の様子を書いていきたいと思います。今日で最後です！
Okay, this is the last article about the time we spent at Dad&Mom's cabin. I'll write the rest of the time that Andy and I spent just with us.





めい無しで過ごした一日目、Andyっちの仕事が終わってからスタートしたので、晩御飯を食べてホテルの部屋でダラダラしただけで終わりました。
On the first day that we spent without May-chan, we just enjoyed being lazy and relaxed in the hotel room after dinner.




二日目のこの日、Andyっちは朝ご飯を食べに、前日晩御飯を食べたレストランに1人で出かけて行きました。
（Hit-chanはお腹が空いていなかったのと、ダラダラしたかったので、部屋で留守番しました。）
On the second day, Andy went to enjoy breakfast by himself at the same restaurant where we had dinner the night before.
(I stayed in the room because I wasn't hungry that morning and just wanted to be lazy again.)




Hit-chanが部屋でダラダラしている間、Andyっちから、「このままビール一杯飲んでいこうかどうか迷ってるんやけど、どう思う？」とメールが来たので、「どうぞ、どうぞ！ゆっくりして。」と返信しました。
While I was being lazy, I got a text from Andy saying, "I'm debating if I'd get a beer here too. What do you think?" so I replied, "Oh, go ahead. Take your time!"




で、Hit-chan、あんまりにも部屋でダラダラしていたので、午後2時くらいになって、「あかーん！ちょっと体動かさな気持ち悪い～！」となりまして、あと、部屋に置いてあったコーヒーを飲みつくした（というか、2袋しかなかった）ので、散歩がてら近くのスーパーに歩いて行きました。
I was being lazy until 2 pm and it's kind of too much. "Oh gosh, I gotta move my body!!" I couldn't help going out to take a walk. Plus that, I wanted to get some coffee beans at the grocery store since I had used up all the packages in the room. So, I suggested Andy to go walk to the grocery store near the hotel with me.





夫婦二人で散歩なんていつぶりやろう？
I don't remember when we took a walk together before that.





状況次第で何てない事が特別な事になるよねぇ。
Any occasion can be special up to how you take it.





折角なので、久しぶりにセルフィ―。
Yup, selfie! We hadn't taken a selfie for a while either.




外はちょっと肌寒かったけど、やっぱり新鮮な空気を吸って体を動かすと精神的にも肉体的にもすごく気持ちが良かったです。
It was still chilly out, but it's super nice and refreshing for both my mental and body to take some fresh air and do some exercise.




で、この日の夕食は初日にパパママと一緒にご飯を食べたピザ屋さん。
（正直ね、この地域で「ここ行きたい！」ってレストランって無いんですよ。なので、簡単でそんなに高くなくて、そんなに不味くない場所となると同じ所になっちゃうのよねぇ。）
For dinner that day, we went to the same pizza shop where we ate with Dad&Mom on the first day.
(Honestly speaking, there's no restaurant around the area which makes me "I wanna eat here!" So, we always end up eating at same restaurants where we can get not-too-bad-food for not-too-bad-prices.)





で、ピザ屋さんなのでAndyっちはピザ。
Andy got a pizza again.




中くらいのサイズと小さいサイズの2種類。
He ordered a medium one and small one.




Hit-chanもミニサイズのピザと。。。
I got a mini size pizza and...




初日も食べたカシュ―チキンサラダ。Up Northに来て唯一食べたいと思うのがこのサラダ。旨し。
the Cashew Chicken Salad again. This salad is the only food which stimulates my appetite up north. Good as usual.




特に何もしてないけど、お疲れー。
We didn't do anything much, but cheers!




カジュアルな晩御飯を食べた後はまたホテルの部屋に戻ってTVを観てダラダラして過ごしました。(笑)
After the casual dinner, we went back to the hotel room and enjoyed being lazy and watching TV again. LOL











折角なので、記念写真撮っておきました。(笑)
Again, this is not a super special occasion, but Cheese!




TVを観るだけに飽きちゃったので、Hit-chan提案で久しぶりに二人でポーカーしました。
I got bored of just watching TV, so I suggested Andy to play poker and we actually enjoyed it a lot.




で、この日も結局ホットバスに入る事はなく、部屋に付いている普通のバスタブでお風呂時間を楽しみました。
We ended up not using the hot tub that night again, but I still enjoyed a couple of bath times in the regular bathtub.




翌朝、ホテルをチェックアウトしてパパママのお家へ。
In the next morning, we checked out the hotel and headed back to Dad&Mom's house.




初めて2泊ダディとマミーと離れて過ごしためいさん、2泊ぶりに会う時にはどんな反応を見せてくれるのかなぁと興味がありました。
After May-chan spent 2nights without Daddy and Mommy for the first time, I was curious to see how she would react when we saw each other again.





で、実際会ってみると、「あ、マミーいた～！」と最初の一瞬は喜んでくれましたが、その後は普段と全く変わらず、この時していたお絵描きに夢中。（爆）
The reality was not that dramatic. "Here's Mommy!" she was excited to see me for the first minute, but she was totally as usual after that. She's more into drawing than reuniting with Daddy and Mommy at the time. LOL





今回は大好きなグランパ＆グランマと一緒なので、ダディとマミーと離れても全く問題なかったみたいです。良かった！
She was with her loving Grandpa&Grandma all the time for the 2 nights, so there's no problem for her being without Daddy&Mommy. Great to know that!




この日の午後に少し雪が降るという予報だったので、11時くらいにはパパママのお家を出るつもりでいました。
The forecast was saying that it'd snow in the afternoon, so we're going to leave the house around 11am.





パパママのお家を出る前に、クリスマスの時に渡すのを忘れていたパパへのプレゼントを渡しました。
Right before we left the house, we gave Dad a very belated Christmas present which we had missed to give him last Christmas.




このブログを読んで下さっている方はご存知かと思いますが、我が家ではクリスマスに大量のプレゼントを交換するので、こんな風に渡し忘れのプレゼントを後から発見するっていう事が結構あります。(笑)
If you've read my blog for a while, you would know this, but our family exchanges tons of presents at Christmas. So, it's not unusual for us to miss one or two presents every year. LOL






めいも開けるのをお手伝いして。。。中身は絵を描く用のスケッチブックでした。
May-chan helped Grandpa to open it. It was a sketch book.




と、こんな感じで、めいを快く見てくれたパパママのお陰で、久しぶりにAndyっちと二人だけの時間をゆっくり、のんびりと過ごす事ができました。
Thanks to Dad&Mom for watching May-chan, Andy and I could have such a wonderful lazy time just with us.




めいもダディとマミーがいない所でも寂しがらずに楽しい時間を過ごしてくれて、良い経験になりました。
It was also a great experience for May-chan to spend a fun time without Daddy and Mommy.

3/4 パパママのお家にお泊り (At Dad&Mom's house 3/4)

Hi everyone!





皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?





さて、前回の記事の続きですが、パパママにめいを託して、久しぶりの夫婦二人だけのゆっくりした時間がスタート。
Okay, let me talk about the days when we spent at Dad&Mom's cabin today again. After Andy and I left the house, we started the calm and quiet time just with us.





パパママの家を出て、Andyっちがお腹が空いたという事で、早めのディナーに近くのレストランに行く事にしました。
Andy was hungry at the time, so we decided to go to a restaurant nearby for an early dinner.





Up Northに行くとよく利用するレストラン。
This is one of our usual restaurants up north.




湖に面したレストランで、夏はボートを湖に泊めてレストランを利用する人も増えます。
This restaurant is on the lake, so in summer a lot of people who are boating stop at the dock and enjoy eating at the restaurant.




コロナの影響か、メニューが結構削られていました。
Probably because of the pandemic, they had cut off bunch of stuff from the menu.





お仕事お疲れ様ー。

めいのお世話お疲れ様ー。
Thank you for taking care of May-chan well!





Hit-chanはシュリンプバスケット。あんまりお腹が空いてなかったので、サイドディッシュをポテトじゃなくてコールスローにすれば良かったと反省。
I got their shrimp basket. I wasn't hungry so much, so I should have got coleslaw for the side instead of fries.




お腹の空いていたAndyっちはガッツリバーガーを選択。
Andy got this burger.




半月前の事なのに、記憶が微妙なんですが、食事を終えた後はホテルにチェックインする前にすぐ近くにあるスーパーと酒屋さんに寄ってスナックや飲み物などを購入したと思います。（チェックインが先なのか、買い物が先だったのか、イマイチ記憶の自信がありません。笑）
It's only a half month about, but some of my memories have been already faded. I don't clearly remember, but I think we stopped by a grocery store and liquor store near the hotel and got some snacks and drinks before we checked in the hotel.
(Yeah, I'm not sure if we checked in the hotel first or went shopping first. Haha.)





特に何もありませんが、一応スーパーでもハイ、チーズ。(笑)
Yeah, this was just a grocery shopping, but Cheese! Haha.




で、Up Northでいつも泊まっているお気に入りのホテルにチェックイン。
The hotel was our usual and favorite up north.





Andyっち、お風呂好きのHit-chanの為にホットタブのある部屋を予約してくれました。（が、結局、今回は入らずじまいでした。汗）
It's sweet of Andy. He booked a room with a hot tub so that his bath-loving wife could enjoy and be relaxed there. (Though, we ended up not using it this time. Hehe)





ベッドルーム。まぁ、このブログで何回も紹介している部屋ですけど。
The bedroom. Yeah, I've introduced this room on my blog several times, I think.




で、この日の夜はこのまま部屋でダラダラして過ごしました。外は結構寒かったしね。
We just spent the rest of the night being lazy and relaxed in the room. It's still pretty cold out anyways.




お疲れのAndyっちは、8時過ぎに既にソファで寝落ちしてました。(笑)
Andy's super tired and fell asleep on the couch a little after 8pm. LOL




という訳で、夫婦水入らず一日目ですが、こんな感じでゆる～く過ぎていきました。
Okay, this is all about how Andy and I spent the first night by being lazy and relaxed just with us.

2/4 パパママのお家にお泊り (At Dad&Mom's house 2/4)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?




さて、前回の続きで、今日も4月始めにパパママのお家にお邪魔した時の様子を書いていきたいと思います。
Okay, following the last article, let met talk about when we spent a couple of days at Dad&Mom's cabin up north in the beginning of April.




2日目の朝。
In the morning of the 2nd day.





ふと外を見ると、そこには鹿さんが2匹。どこにいるか分かるかな？
When I was hanging out in the dining room, I took a glance at the outside of the glass door. Then, there were 2 deer in the woods. Can you see them?





ここで～す！
Here they are!





我が家の庭でもよく鹿さんを見かけるんですが、パパママのお家の周りは自然に囲まれているので色々な動物を観察できます。
We can see some deer around our house too, but at Dad&Mom's house surrounded by mother nature, you can run into so many different wild animals there.





やっぱり、湖がすぐそこに見える景色は最高ですね。実はこの中にも鹿さんが一匹います。分かるかな？これは分かりやすいよね。
I love this view! The lakeview is always just speechlessly beautiful. There's actually 1 deer in the pic too. Yeah, it's too easy, isn't it?





ここで～す！
Here it is!















この日、めいをパパママに見てもらって、AndyっちとHit-chanはホテルに泊まる事になっていたのですが、パパママの家を出るのはAndyっちの仕事が終わってから。
Andy and I were going to stay at a hotel after Andy finished his work, so I still had much time to play with May-chan before that.




なので、午前中はめいとお散歩する事にしました。
So, I decided to take a walk with her in the morning.





まず、めいが家の外に立てかけられていたソリを見つけ、やりたいと言ったのでそり遊びから。
May-chan found a sled leaned against a wall outside and of course, she said she wanted to play with it.





パパママのお家の裏庭はちょうど傾斜になっているので、そり遊びに最適。めいさん、楽しんでおりました。
The backyard made a downhill toward the lake, which was perfect for sledding. May-chan had much fun.




御覧の通り、パパママのお家の周りにはまだまだ雪が一杯残っていました。我が家付近ではほとんど雪が無くなっている状況なんですが、やっぱり北に3時間行くと景色がガラッと変わります。
As you can see in the pictures above, there's still bunch of snow left on the ground around the house. Around our house, most of the snow had been melted and gone, so I could see the clear difference in the sceneries between the area where we lived and the area 3-hour-drive up north from our house.





折角なので、セルフィ―。気温が低くても、こうやってお日様の光があるだけでスカッと気持ちも晴れます。
I had my camera with me, so why not? We took a selfie. Even when the temperature was not that high, the sunshine let us feel refreshed.





家の前の道を歩く事に。パパママのお家の前から公道まではある程度距離があるので、丁度良いお散歩道です。
May-chan and I took a walk on the driveway. It's actually a perfect distance from the house to the public road for us to enjoy a quick walk.





これ、お気に入りのショット。冬なんだけど春の気配もちょっと感じられるなぁと思って。
This is one of my favorite shots since this pic shows that winter was ending and spring was coming closer.





お散歩が終わってボーっと過ごしていると、ママが「要る物がいくつかあるから、一緒にスーパー行かない？」と誘ってくれたので。
After we enjoyed some outdoor time, Mom asked me, "I have to get some stuff at the grocery store. Do you wanna come with?" So, why not? May-chan and I joined the shopping.





最近カートに乗るのが好きなめいさんはこの日もカートに乗れてご機嫌さん。グランマも一緒だし、余計に楽しいよね。
May-chan loves to ride on a cart, so she's happy to be on the cart that day as usual. She must have been happier since Grandma was there too!





無事、女子チームだけの買い物が終わって寛いでいる頃、Andyっちの仕事が終了。
When we're chilling out after the shopping, Andy's work was finished.




そこからAndyっちとHit-chanはパパっと2泊分の荷造りをして、パパママにめいを託して家を出る事に。。。
Andy and I packed things for 2 nights and left the house.




小さい頃は、めいと離れる際に気づかれないように家を出るという事もしていたんですが、今回はパパとAndyっちの意見もあって、めいにしっかりダディとマミーと離れる事に慣れさせようという事で、ちゃんと「めいちゃん、バイバイ～！」と言って家を出る事にしました。
When May-chan was little, we usually sneaked to leave her. Though, Dad and Andy said that we should have said "Bye-bye!" so that May-chan would understand what's going on and get used to the situation. So, Andy and I said, "May-chan, Bye-bye!" and tried to leave the house.




結果、「マミー、マミー！」と号泣。ですが、そのままグランマに抱っこしてもらって、私達は家を出ました。
Yeah, May-chan cried, "Mommy! Mommy!!"in Grandma's hands while we're leaving.





後から聞いたんですが、めいさん、この時結構号泣していたんですが、私達が家を出た後に2分程泣いて、その後はケロっとしていたらしいです。(笑)
Though, Mom said that May-chan was crying for a couple of minutes after Andy and I left the house, but she was totally fine after that. LOL





やっぱり、時には荒療治も必要なんだなぁと思った次第です。
Yeah, we sometimes need to give her a drastic remedy.





という訳で、次回は久々の夫婦二人だけの水入らずの時間の様子をお届けします。
Okay, this is about the 2nd day before Andy and I left May-chan. On the next article, I want to write about how Andy and I spent time just with us.

1/4 パパママのお家にお泊り (At Dad&Mom's house 1/4)

Hi there!




皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's everything going in your life?




これを書いているのは4月14日なんですが、こちらミネソタ、雪がちらついております。
I'm writing this on April 14th and it's snowing today here in MN.




4月中旬にもなって雪がちらつくのはいかにもミネソタらしいんですが、それでも生粋のミネソタンであるAndyっち曰く、「今年の冬は寒いし、長いわ。」との事です。
It's really Minnesota that we see snow still in the middle of April, but even pure Minnesotan, Andy's saying, "This winter is really cold and long."




日によっては「春だなぁ！」と思う日も増えてきているのは確かなんですが、こうやってまだ曇り空に雪がちらつく日があると、ちょっと気持ちが塞ぎがちになっちゃいます。
Depending on the day, we certainly can feel, "Oh, spring is right there!" but cloudy and snowy days still in April make me depressed.




さて、前置きはこの辺にして、3月の最後の日から数日間、パパママのお家にお泊りさせてもらい、その内の2泊に関しては、パパママにめいを見てもらい、AndyっちとHit-chanはめい無しでホテルに泊まって久しぶりに夫婦水入らずの時間を楽しませてもらいました。
Anyways, Andy, May-chan and I went over Dad&Mom's cabin up north for a couple of days from the last day of March and Andy and I spent 2 nights at a hotel just with 2 of us thanks to Dad&Mom for watching May-chan for us.




なので、今日はその時の様子を書いていこうと思います。
So, I'd like to write about the time we spent at Dad&Mom's cabin and the hotel.





3月31日。Andyっちが仕事を終えてから我が家を出発。
On March 31st (My mom's BD BTW), we left our house after Andy's done with his work.





4時前に出発して、ここから約3時間の車の旅。
We left a little before 4pm and took a 3hour drive to the destination.





多分帰宅ラッシュだったのかな？市街に近い所では少し渋滞に巻き込まれました。
It might be in the middle of a returning-home rush hour and we got stuck in the traffic in the town area.




が、市街地を離れると道はこんな感じで空いていました。
Once we went through the town area and entered the suburb area, the road was so empty like this.




今回は到着時間が晩御飯の時間くらいだったので、パパママとは家の近くにあるいつものピザ屋さんで落ち合う事に。
The time we were going to arrive at Dad&Mom's cabin was around dinner time, so we decided to meet them up at our usual pizza shop near their house.




久しぶりのグランパ＆グランマにめいは大興奮！嬉しくて、座るのもグランパ＆グランマ側に自ら行きました。
May-chan was super happy and excited to see Grandpa&Grandma for the first time in a while, so she went to sit by them on her own.












ピザ屋さんなので、パパとAndyっちはピザを注文。
Dad and Andy ordered pizzas.




ママとHit-chanはカシュ―チキンサラダ。
Mom and I ordered their Cashew Chicken Salad.




めいが食べるかなぁと思って注文したパン。Bread Sticksっていう名前。ただめいさん、車の中でスナックをいっぱい食べたので、このパンは一口も食べず。
I thought that May-chan would eat this, Bread Sticks. Though, she didn't take even a bite probably because she'd been stuffed with bunch of snacks she ate in the car.




晩御飯の後はパパママのお家に行って、寝るまで各々好きな事をして時間を過ごしました。
After the casual dinner, we went to Dad&Mom's cabin and spent the rest of the night by individually doing what we liked to do.





めいもすっかりパパママのお家には慣れており、いつものようにおもちゃを出してもらって遊んでいました。
May-chan's used to be and very comfortable to be at Dad&Mom's cabin, so she played with all the toys by herself as usual.




と、こんな感じで、無事、3時間のドライブを経てパパママのお家に着きました。
Like this, we safely got to Dad&Mom's cabin after the 3 hour drive.




今まではめいを1泊見てもらう事はあったんですが、2泊見てもらう事は今回が初めて。
We'd had Dad&Mom watch May-chan for a night before, but this was the first time for her to spend 2 nights without Daddy&Mommy.




果たして、めいさん、ダディとマミーと離れて楽しく過ごす事が出来たでしょうか？

初ALDI (Our first shopping at ALDI)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's everything going in your life today?





今週のミネソタ、春が近づいているのは間違いないのですが、朝は道が雪で白くなっておりました。
This week in MN, I can smell of Spring somewhere close, but I saw the roads were covered with white snow blanket this morning.




日が昇って道の雪はすぐに溶けたものの、気温はまだ氷点下で、今イースターのお祝いを一緒にする為に我が家に来ているパパママと、「春はどこなんだろうねぇ。」と話をしていました。
The white snow blanket got melted once the sun came up, but the temperature is still below 32F today. Dad&Mom are at our house now to celebrate Easter this weekend and we were joking, "Where's spring??" this morning.




さて、先日、家族3人でドイツ系スーパーのALDIに初めて行ってきました。
So, today I want to share about my family's first shopping at ALDI here.






ママ友の梅ちゃんからALDIの刺身グレードのマグロをもらったんですが、それを食べ切ってしまったので、また買いに行きたいと思ってたんです。（画像拝借元）
One of my mom friends, Ume-chan, once gave us a package of sashimi-grade Ahi Tuna from ALDI and we really liked and finished it shortly after. So, I'd wanted to get more for a while.





最近はお天気も良くなって、気分も上々なので、平日の昼間にめいを連れて行こうかなぁと思っていたんですが、Andyっちも「僕も行ってみたい。」との事だったので、その日の仕事が終わってから一緒に行ってみました。
The weather has been much warmer lately, which makes my mental healthier, and I was originally planning to take May-chan with me for a daytime activity. Though, Andy said, "I'm curious too." and wanted to check the store too, so we decided to go there together after he's done with his work that day.





この日はあいにくの曇り空でしたが。
It was a cloudy day.





我が家から一番近いALDIは車で20分くらいの所にありました。
It's about 20 min drive from our house to the closest ALDI.




めいも家族3人のおでかけで嬉しそう。あと、最近は「お店に行く！」と買い物に行くのも好きみたいです。
May-chan seemed so happy to get out of the house with all of us together. She also likes going to shopping like and often says "We're going to a store!"




到着！平日の早い夕方頃に行ったので、それ程混んでいませんでした。
We're here! It's late afternoon and there's not so many customers in the store.




事前に少し下調べしたので大丈夫でしたが、ALDIのカートは25セント入れて使用し、使用後にその25セントが返ってくるという仕組みでした。
（この仕組み、日本にいた頃にも慣れていたものですが、アメリカで見たのは初めてでした。）
I googled about the store beforehand and learned that you need a quarter coin to use a cart there. If you insert a quarter coin in the box attached to the cart, you can take the cart off from other carts and if you return the cart back to the original place, you can get the quarter coin back too. In the system, they don't hire people to collect carts and cut the costs.
(I've seen the system in Japan, but it was the first time in the US.)





最近はカートに座るのが好きなこのお人。概ねご機嫌さんでいてくれました。
May-chan really likes sitting in a cart recently, so she was in a good mood overall during the shopping.




そんなに混んでいなかったので、結構ゆっくりと見る事ができました。
Thankfully, we could take as much time as we liked to look and walk around the store because it wasn't that busy in the store when we're there.





で、この日の収穫。
Okay, this is what we bought that day.





一番欲しかった刺身用のマグロも無事3袋ゲット！アボカドや赤玉ねぎも我が家の近くのスーパーの激高な値段に比べると良心的でした。
（冷凍庫の一番上の棚にあったので、Andyっちがいなかったら誰かに頼まないと取れなかったよ。こういう時背が低いと不便なのよねぇ。）
We could buy 3 packages of the sashimi-grade ahi tuna that we wanted most! The prices of avocados or red onions were cheaper than the ones at a grocery store near our house.
(The ahi tuna was on the top shelf in the freezer, so I was so glad to have Andy with me there. I was too short to reach them! Haha. Yeah, being short is often inconvenient.)





真ん中のアイスクリーム、「美味しそう！」と思って買いましたが、まぁ、普通でした。クロワッサンも美味しいけど、個人的にはターゲットの方が好きかも。
The chocolate ice cream looked so delicious at the store and I put it in the cart, but it was actually okay. The croissant wasn't bad either, but I personally like Target ones better.






あとはムール貝とか違う種類のアイスとか、Andyっちのスナック用にピスタチオとか。ベーキング用のチョコチップが安かったので2袋買っちゃいました。
We also bought frozen mussels or another box of ice cream too. Andy got some pistachios for snack. I bought 2 bags of chocolate chips for baking because they're super cheap.





あとはチーズとか、これまた近所のスーパーでは激高なパプリカも購入。あと安かったので、冷凍食品の春巻きも買ってみました。
Stick cheese for May-chan and bell peppers too. Bell peppers are super expensive at the grocery store close to our hoes too. We also decided to try the frozen egg rolls since they're pretty reasonable too.




初めて行ったALDI、印象としては、店舗によるとは思いますが、そんなに商品数がある訳ではないなぁという事と、値段も物によって「うわ、安い！」という物がちょこちょこある感じでした。
My review about ALDI after the first shopping was that they don't have such a big selection of products. There were some products sold for "Wow! This is so cheap!" prices, but most of the products were in the same price range as their competitors.




それでも、やっぱり刺身用マグロが手に入るのは大きくて、このマグロを買うだけでもALDIに行く価値はあるなぁと思いました。
The biggest value for us to shop at ALDI is definitely the sashimi-grade ahi tuna. It's still worth going to the store just to buy the tuna.
