今日で3歳になりました。(May-chan turns 3 today!)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today!





さて、タイトルの通り、今日11月30日で我が家の一人娘めいが3歳になりました～！（拍手）
As the title says, today, November 30th is, our loving daughter, May-chan's 3rd birthday!! (Applause)





偏食家のめいなので、誕生日のご馳走がソーセージのみになりそうですが、一応ケーキは大好きなので今年も手作りします。
She's a picky eater, so I have no idea what I should cook for her BD dinner, but she loves cakes, so I'll make one for her special day for sure.






めいが生まれた2018年の11月30日はこんな感じで今年よりもずっと寒かったです。
Today 3 years ago, it was much colder that today this year.





朝8時くらいから痛みに悶えて10時41分に無事誕生。
（Hit-chan、生まれた感動よりも痛みから解放された喜びが強かったよ。笑）
I started fighting against a big pain around 8am and ended the battle at 10:41am when May-chan was born.
(I was enjoying the joy to end the pain battle rather than meeting my daughter at the moment she was born. LOL)





めいを見ての第一印象は、「うわ、髪の毛いっぱい！めっちゃアジア人やん！」でした。
The first impression that I had about her was, "Wow! She has lots of hair and looks very Asian!"





生まれた時は2430gでめっちゃ小さかったです。Andyっちが片手で抱けるくらい。
She's only 5lb5.7oz at the time and tiny enough for Andy to hold her in one hand.





これは1歳の誕生日。
This is from her 1st birthday.





一応ケーキ作ったけど、ヨーグルトベースのクリームが好みじゃなかったらしくスポンジ部分だけを爆食。
I made the cake, but she didn't like the yogurt cream so much and ended up enjoying the sponge part.





スポンジだけでも美味しそうに食べてくれたので良かった。この頃はまだもうちょっと野菜とか食べてくれてたけどねぇ。
I was glad that she loved the sponge part at least. I remember that she wasn't that picky about food and still ate some veggies at the point than now.





これは昨年、2歳の誕生日。
This is from last year, on her 2nd birthday.




昨年はコロナで感謝祭も皆バラバラでお祝い。めいの誕生日もグランパ＆グランマはTV電話で参加してくれました。
It was middle of pandemic and our family celebrated the Thanksgiving day separately, so Grandpa&Grandma joined us celebrating May-chan's birthday via video chat.





昨年はひよこにハマっていたので、ひよこケーキ。クリームは生クリームとクリームチーズを混ぜたもの。
She's very into chicks last year, so I made a chick cake. I made the cream with heavy cream and cream cheese.





Hit-chan、全然記憶無いんですが、この写真を見る限り喜んで食べてくれたみたいですね。
To be honest with you, I have no memory how she's eating my cake, but this picture's telling that she liked it.





今年の誕生日はどんな感じになるのかな？特に計画してないですけど、まぁ、どうにかなるでしょ。
I'm wondering how we celebrate her birthday this year. We don't have much plan for it, but we'll see.





またその様子を写真に撮ってシェアしたいと思ってます。
I'll definitely take lots of pictures and want to share them here later.

髪切ってもらったよ。(We got a haircut!)

Hello everyone!





皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?





さて、先日、また夫婦揃って髪を切りに行きました。
（基本、我が家はAndyっちが「そろそろ髪切りたい。」と言い出して、Hit-chanがそれに乗っかるというスタイルです。笑）
So, Andy and I went to get a haircut the other day.
(Between us, Andy first says, "I kind of wanna get a haircut soon." and I say, "Sure!" most of the time. Haha)











今回もお友達のミカちゃんに切ってもらいました。
Of course, we went to this salon where our friend, Mika-chan, worked.






まずはHit-chanから。
From me this time.





コロナが少し落ち着いたタイミングに一度切ってもらったんですが、こんな感じでその後伸ばし放題。
（昔は髪の量がめちゃくちゃ多かったんですが、めいを産んだ後に抜けてから、かなり少なくなってしまいました。）
I once got a haircut when the pandemic once seemed to be calm down, but since then I'd just let it grow.
(I used to have a big volume of hair before, but once I lost a lot in the postpartum, I haven't got much back yet.)





面倒くさがりなHit-chan。基本的に髪型を決める時には、「お手入れが楽なやつ。」を基準にしており、前回は、「短く切ってしまったら、また少し伸びたら切らないといけないし、とりあえず伸ばしておこう。」と、そんな理由であまり切りませんでした。
Maybe you already know this, but I'm basically fond of being lazy whenever I have a chance. So, one of the top priorities for my hair style is "Easy maintenance" and "If I'd make my hair short now, that means I'll have to come and cut it again sooner, so why don't I just let it grow for now?" I asked Mika-chan just to trim the end of my hair on the last appointment.





が、長い髪生活をしばらく続けていく中、「うーん、髪の毛洗ったり乾かしたりするのが面倒くさい！」と感じるようになって、今回は前にずーっとしていた短めのスタイルにしてもらうようにお願いしました。
Though, through living days with a long hair for a while, "Mmm..., it's so much work to wash and dry this long hair!!' I ended up wanting to cut my hair short again, which I used to do all the time before.





ただ、前にやっていた定番のスタイルから少し新しい事にチャレンジしてみようと思って、今回は左右非対称（アシンメトリー）のスタイルにしてもらいました。
This time, I kind of wanted to do something different from my usual short hair style and came up with an idea making it asymmetry.





この日のちょっと前にミカちゃんと電話で話す機会があって、「今度切ってもらう時、アシンメトリー、どうやろう？」と聞いてみたら、「良いじゃん！」と言ってくれたんです。
A week before my appointment, I happened to have a chance to talk to Mika-chan on the phone and asked her, "What about doing an asymmetry style on the next appointment?" and her answer was, "Yeah! That'd be nice!"





ただ、Hit-chanの一番の心配である、「お手入れとか大変じゃないかな？」と聞いた時は、「いや、全然大丈夫よ。笑」と笑われてしまいました。多分、「この人、どんだけ面倒くさがりなんや。」って思ったんやろうね。（爆）
Though, you know, my biggest concern was, "Is it easy to be taken care of??" and I asked about it to Mika-chan. "Oh, no worry! It should be fine. Haha" she said and laughed. She probably thought, "How much does she wanna have a lazy life??" LOL





そんなミカちゃんからのお墨付きももらい、今回初挑戦したアシンメトリースタイルはこちら。
Anyways, here's my new asymmetry style!






じゃじゃーん！
Ta-da!!






左に比べて、右が少し長めです。
The left side is a little shorter than the right side.





いや、ミカちゃん、マジ神ですな。めちゃくちゃ素晴らしい出来上がりになりました。
Oh dear Mika-chan, you're such a talented stylist! The new style turned out to be awesome on me!





髪を切ってもう1ヶ月くらい経つと思うのですが、髪を洗って乾かす時間もめちゃくちゃ短くなったし、肝心のセットもミカちゃんにやってもらったレベルは無理でも、ブラシで少し梳かすだけで人前に出ても恥ずかしくないくらいの見た目になってくれます。
It's been a month or so since I got the haircut, but the time to wash and dry my hair has been much shorter! Plus, the setting is not that hard. I can't do the same quality as Mika-chan did for me, but I still make it look decent by brushing it a couple of times. (Yay!)





Andyっちもとっても気に入ってくれて、今回もミカちゃん様様でした。（ありがとね！）
Andy also loves my new style, and I just thank my very talented friend. (Thank you!)





さて、Hit-chanの後はAndyっちの番。
Okay, now it's Andy's turn.






前日から、「明日ミカちゃんに切ってもらえるの、めっちゃ待ち遠しい！」と言っていたAndyっち。
"I'm very looking forward to getting a haircut tomorrow!" he was saying and so excited on the day before.






Andyっちは会社に行くから、やっぱりそれなりの身だしなみは必要だもんね。
Even in this pandemic, Andy still needs to go in the office a couple of days a week, so should take care of his hair well enough.





ダディが切ってもらっている間。。。
While Daddy's getting a haircut...,





めいは近くで酒盛りならぬ、菓子盛り。(笑)　
May-chan was having a drink, oh no, snack party. Hehe.




黄色い容器に入っているスナックなんですが、ハイハイしていた時から食べてるもので、未だに食べてくれるので、こういった長時間待ってもらう時にあげるのにめちゃくちゃ役に立っています。
（低カロリーで、味も薄いし、結構な量を食べても大丈夫だから。）
The snack in the yellow container is something that May-chan started eating from when she was crawling. She still likes them, and it's perfect for the time when we have her wait and be quiet for a long time like this occasion.
(They're low calories and light flavored, so I don't have to worry even if she eats them a lot.)





で、Andyっちの髪型完成。
Okay, Andy's refreshed too.





後ろはこんな感じ。スッキリしたね！
The back is like this. Clean and nice!





と、今回も夫婦共々ミカちゃんに素敵なスタイルに仕上げてもらい大満足でございました！
Anyways, this is all about how Andy and I had an amazing haircut from Mika-chan this time.

感謝祭2021 (Thanksgiving 2021)

Hello there!





皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How are you doing today?





さて、昨日11月25日はサンクスギビング（感謝祭）でした！
It's Thanksgiving day yesterday. Belated Happy Thanksgiving to you!





我が家は前日の水曜日、Andyっちが仕事を終えた午後に家を出て、車で3時間の所にあるパパママ宅に向かいました。
Andy, May-chan and I left our home around 2:30pm after Andy's done with his work for Dad&Mom's house up north which's 3 hour drive from our home.










3時間の車移動になるので、今回もHit-chanは後部座席のめいの隣に座りました。
It's a 3hour drive, so I sat in the back seat next to May-chan as usual.




最後の5分くらいだけ寝ちゃっためいですが、それ以外は結構お利口さんにしていてくれました。
May-chan slept only for the last 5 mins and did a great job overall.





もちろん、途中愚図ったんですが、この前シカゴのミツワで仕入れてきたアンパンマンのラムネ菓子を渡すと一気にご機嫌回復。
（中身のラムネ菓子は一口味見して気に入らなかったようですが、パッケージを眺めるだけで満足しておりました。恐るべきアンパンマンの魅力。）
Of course, she got fussy and crabby sometimes on the drive, but I gave her this game changing item at that time, which was a Japanese candy with her favorite cartoon characters on the package.
(She actually didn't like the candy itself, but occupied herself just by looking at the package for a while.)





3時間のドライブを無事に終え、午後5時半くらいにパパママ宅に到着。
We safely got to Dad&Mom's house around 5:30pm after the 3 hour drive.




グランパ＆グランマに加えてブラッド君にも会えて、めいは一気にテンション上がっておりました。
May-chan was very excited to see all of Grandpa&Grandma and uncle Brad there at the same time.






到着してすぐに夕食。
We started dinner shortly after we arrived.





この日のディナーはママが作ってくれたスパゲティ＆チキンパルメジャンを頂きました。（美味しかった！）
We had Mom's special spaghetti and chicken parmesan. (Yummy!)





そして感謝祭当日、Hit-chanは朝好きなだけ寝させてもらってから起床。
On the next day, Thanksgiving day, Andy let me sleep in as long as I liked. (Thanks!)






今年の料理はママとブラッド君が主に担当してくれました。
This year Mom and Brad mainly cooked the special dinner.






パパもAndyっちもマッシュポテトを作ったりしてお手伝い。
（Hit-chanはアクシデントで指を切ってしまい、途中で戦力外通告。汗）
Dad and Andy helped making mashed potato.
(I accidentally cut my finger badly, so left the team. Oh no!)





めいもいつもとは違い、スクリーンタイム（パソコンやTVを観る時間）もほとんど無く、感謝祭の雰囲気を楽しんでおりました。
（やっぱり、皆が代わる代わる遊んでくれるので飽きないんでしょうね。）
May-chan was also having much fun with the special atmosphere and didn't need screen time at all.
(She always had someone to play with and thanks to that, she didn't get bored at all.)





この椅子一つでも嬉しそうにキャッキャしておりました。
I had no idea, but this chair was so funny to her for some reason and made her giggle for a while too,





Hit-chanが楽している間に、無事、今年の感謝祭ディナーが完成！
While I was being lazy, everybody else worked hard and finished the special Thanksgiving dinner!





切った後だけど、これが今年のターキー。（一部）
It's already cut, but this was the turkey that we enjoyed this year. (Just a part of the entire one)





こちらがHit-chanのプレート。
This was my plate.




サラダは別皿にたっぷり。
I put the salad on a different plate so that I could eat a lot.




偏食家のめいは、ターキーをほんのちょっととパンを3個ほど。（最近のめいはほぼほぼパンで出来ています。笑）
The picky eater, May-chan, had a couple of very thin and tiny pieces of turkey and 3 entire pieces of bread.
(Yup, she's been mostly made of bread lately. LOL)




ディナーから少し間を置いた所でパンプキンパイ。柔らかい食感を嫌がるかと思ったんですが、意外や意外、結構いっぱい食べました。
A little while after the yummy dinner, she enjoyed Mom's special pumpkin pie too, I'd thought that she would not like the soft texture, but my guess was wrong. She really liked it and ate a lot.




最近フェイスペインティングにハマり出しためい画伯、感謝祭の日も作品作りを実演し、皆を喜ばせておりました。
She's really into face painting recently and entertained everybody by a live performance.





思惑どおり、皆に笑ってもらって良かったね。
（笑いを取りたいという関西人の血がしっかり流れておりますな。）
As she'd expected, she could get lots of laughter from everybody.
(She definitely has the gene of personality from Kansai area in Japan, which you can't stop helping to do funny things to make others laugh. And I'm from Kansai, BTW.)





という訳で、今年も素敵な感謝祭を送る事ができました。そして、改めて全ての事に感謝の心を忘れずに生きていきたいと思いました。
Anyways, I'm very thankful that we could have another fun and peaceful Thanksgiving together. This special day made me feel again that I'd remember to feel grateful for everything and everyone in my life.




感謝祭翌日の今日、世間はブラックフライデーというセールの日で有名ですが、我が家では毎年クリスマスツリーハントに行きます。
Today, the next day after Thanksgiving, is called Black Friday and famous that many shops do a big sale on the day. Though, my family has a different tradition on the day every year, which we go to Christmas tree hunt.




なので、今からツリー農場に行ってまいります！
So, we're heading to our favorite and usual tree farm shortly!

補習校でもハロウィン (Halloween at Japanese School)

皆さん、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's everything going in your life?





さて、ちょっとアップするのが遅くなってしまったのですが、ハロウィンネタをもう一つ。
It's belated, but let me share another story about Halloween this year.





今年のハロウィンの前日は日本語補習校があり、「仮装してきて良いですよ～！」という事だったので、めいと一緒に例のひよこコスチュームを着て行ってきました。
The other day I shared an article about how we enjoyed Halloween this year. On the day before Halloween, May-chan and I had a class at Japanese school and they said, "You can come dressed up!" So, we went to school in the matching chick costumes.





この日の授業はひよこで受けました。
Yup, here's my baby chick.




授業ではいつも工作の時間があるのですが、この日はパンプキンにデコレーションするハロウィンに合わせた内容でした。
We always have a craft time in the class, and decorated a small pumpkin that day.

我が家の今年のハロウィンでも紹介したんですが、ハロウィン当日はこんな感じで飾りました。
I shared this picture on the Halloween article, but I displayed the small pumpkin like this.




そして、この日の授業時間を使って、皆でトリックオアトリートもさせてもらいました。
We also had a simple and easy Trick-or-Treat time in the class too.





正確に言うと、これがめいの初めてのトリックオアトリートになりました。
Technically speaking, it was the very first time for May-chan to do a Trick-or-Treating.





こうやって補習校に行き始めてから、ママ友が母娘の写真をいっぱい撮ってくれるのがめっちゃ有難い！
I'm so happy and grateful when other moms take pictures of May-chan and me like this!





めいはそれとなく参加しておりましたが、お菓子をもらえるという一番楽しい部分を理解しておりませんでした。(笑)
May-chan was following other kids and received whatever they gave her, but didn't understand the best part of Trick-or-Treating, the candies. Haha




とはいえ、お友達と一緒になってやった初めてのトリックオアトリートはとっても楽しいものになりました。
Still, May-chan's first Trick-or-Treating together with her friends turned out to be much fun.





家に帰って早速もらったお菓子などを明けたんですが、こうやってお菓子の代わりにお絵描きセットを入れてくださっているバージョンもあり、めいは大喜び！
We opened the bags at home right after school, and this drawing set was the biggest hit for May-chan.





まだまだママとしての経験が浅く、こうしたトリックオアトリートをするのも初めてだったんですが、こうやってお菓子だけじゃなくて、シールやシャボン玉など、ちょっと遊べるものを入れてくださっているのも多く、凄く良いアイデアだなぁと勉強になりました。
I'm still in the 2nd-3rd grade as a mother and did the Trick-or-Treating with other kids at school for the first time. So, it was very inspiring to see all the candies and little toys from the teachers and other moms, and I especially thought it was a great idea to give kids things like a drawing set instead of candies.





と、こんな感じで今年からは補習校でもハロウィンを楽しむ事ができ、母娘ともにとっても良い時間を過ごせました！
Anyways, this is all about how May-chan and I enjoyed Halloween at Japanese school this year.

我が家の晩御飯メニュー 5 (Our dinner menus 5)

さて、今日は我が家の晩御飯メニューシリーズ第5弾でございます。
Today I want to share our dinner menu here again. it's the 5th article of this series.






いきなり晩御飯ではないですが、最近よく焼いているスイートブール。
Okay, this is not a dinner menu, but I recently bake the bread often.

スイートブールを作ってみた。(Homemade Sweet Boule) - Hit-Chanのワクワクしてるよ！(Hit-Chan's WakuWaku Life!)

 

この記事で、最初に作った時の様子を書いたんですが、この時は帽子の形にならなかったんですが、その後改良を加え、上の写真みたいに帽子の形の帽子パンを作る事ができました。（パチパチ）
I wrote about when I first tried to bake them, and they didn't turn out to be like hat-shape at the time, but I finally could make them look like a hat like the picture above after I changed the ratio of the bread dough and cookie part.






で、こちらは我が家に初登場のメニュー。塩麴に浸けて焼いたチキン。
The next one is what we tried for the first time, roasted chicken marinated with salted rice malt.




Hit-chan、塩麴の名前はよく聞いていたものの、今まで一度も使ったことも食べた事がなかったのですが、最近ママ友の梅ちゃんが手作りの塩麴を分けてくれまして、我が家に初登場したという訳です。
I'd known about salted rice malt since became a big hit and trend in Japan some years ago, but I'd never tried it before. What a lucky person I am! My friend, Ume-chan, homemade the malt and shared it with me the other day.




で、初めての塩麴チキン、Andyっちも「僕、これ好き。また食べたい。」と好評で、Hit-chanもすごく気に入ったので、これはまた違うお肉などでも作ってみたいと思っています。
We tried chicken marinated with salted rice malt for the first time and both Andy and I really liked it! Andy even said, "I really like this and I wanna eat this again for sure." So, I definitely do it again and also want to try it with other kinds of meat too.





あ、この日、カボチャスープも出したんですけど、めいにもAndyっちにも不評で、結局Hit-chanが一人で食べました。（涙）
（Andyっちはそもそもカボチャがあんまり好きじゃないので、これは想定済みでした。）
By the way, I also made Kabocha squash soup as well, but sadly neither Andy or May-chan liked it and I ended up eating it all by myself.
(Andy's not a big fan of pumpkin or squash in general, so I had expected the result.)





そして、この日はめちゃくちゃ豪華なお刺身数種。
On this day, we had a very fancy dish, some kinds of Sashimi.




これも、ママ友の梅ちゃんが、「このお店からお魚注文するけど、一緒に注文しよっか？」と教えてくれまして、お言葉に甘えて一緒に注文してもらったお魚たちなのです。
Thanks to my friend, Ume-chan, again, "I'm gonna order some fish from this shop, so if you wanna get something from them too, I'll make an order for both of us." she kindly asked me a couple of months ago and I took the chace to order some Sashimi-grade fish from them.

ちなみにこちらがそのお店です。
This is the seafood shop that Ume-chan taught me.




ご飯をあんまり食べないAndyっちは刺身のままで食べたんですが、Hit-chanは。。。
Andy doesn't need much rice, so he enjoyed the fish as Sashimi, but what about me?






海鮮丼にしました。
Yup, I made a Kaisen-don (Sushi Bowl).




今回注文したのは、ハマチ、マグロ（赤身）、ピンクマグロとろ、つぶ貝、甘エビの刺身だったんですが、美味しくてもう一度注文したいと思ったのはハマチ、甘エビ、マグロ（赤身）でした。特にハマチと甘エビが絶品でした。
What we ordered from the shop this time was Hamachi (Yellowtail), Tuna, Pink Toro Tuna, Whelk and Sweet shrimp and what we really liked and want to order again is Hamachi (Yellowfin), Sweet shrimp and Tuna. Especially, their Hamachi (Yellowfin) and Sweet shrimp were amazing.




Hit-chan的にはつぶ貝も美味しかったんですが、別に無くても良いかなぁという感じで、Andyっちはその食感があんまり好きじゃないという事でした。
I personally liked the Whelk too, but it's not a must-get thing. Andy didn't like it so much, so we're probably not going to get it again.




残念だったのが、ピンクマグロとろで、ちょっと生臭さがありました。
The most disappointing one was the Pink Tuna Toro, and it smelled and tasted too fishy.




今回頼まなかった種類のお魚もいっぱいあるし、お刺身以外の商品も充実しているので、次回また違う種類を頼んで、我が家の定番を見つけていきたいなぁと思っています。
There are still a lot of other fish that we didn't order this time and they sell other products besides Sashimi-grade fish, so I'll definitely want to try other stuff next time for sure.




ミネソタに来てからずっと、「手頃な値段で美味しいお刺身が食べたいなぁ。」と思っていたので、良いお店を教えてくれた梅ちゃんに感謝です。（ありがとー。）
I'd actually been looking for a place that I could get fresh Sashimi-grade fish for reasonable prices since I moved to MN, so I really appreciate Ume-chan for telling me about the store. (Thank you!)






で、こちらは料理する元気がなかった日の夕食。
This is dinner for a lazy day.




近くのスーパーのお惣菜コーナーで買ったフライドチキン、冷凍のポテト、そしてちゃちゃっとサラダです。
We got fried chicken from a grocery store nearby. I heated up some frozen fries and made a simple salad for the sides.




家でフライドチキンを作った事もあるんですが、労力と値段と味を総合的に考えたところ、近所のお惣菜コーナーのチキンを買ってくる方が良いなという結論に至っています。
I've tried to make homemade fried chicken before, but considering the effort and cost to make it, I'd prefer buying some from the deli section at the local grocery store after all.





あと、これも晩御飯じゃないんですけど、久しぶりにベーグルを焼きました。

初・ベーグル作ってみた (My First Homemade Bagels) - Hit-Chanのワクワクしてるよ！(Hit-Chan's WakuWaku Life!)

 

この時に初めて作りました。
This is about when I tried to make them for the first time.




で、久しぶりに作ってみたら、今までで一番の出来に！
I hadn't made them for a long time, but they actually turned out to be the best result!





もちろん、Hit-chanが一番好きなベーグルサンドイッチを作りまして。。。
Of course, I baked them to make my favorite sandwich.





美味しすぎて、この同じサンドイッチを3日連続で食べました。(笑)
It's just so yummy and I made the same sandwich for 3 days in a row. LOL





全然関係ないですが、たまーに朝起きると、Andyっちがコーヒーやドーナツを買ってきてくれている事があります。
This doesn't have anything to do with dinner menu wither, but Andy sometimes gets me donuts or coffee in the morning.




何気ない日常の何気ない心遣いなんですが、そんな優しい旦那様、Andyっちのお陰で、ハッピーな気持ちで一日を始められます。（いつもありがとう！）
It might be a big matter, but thanks to my sweet husband, I can start my day in such a happy and lucky mood on those days. (Thanks again!)





と、こんな感じで、今日のところはこの辺にしておきたいと思います。
