Typhoon no.4

2007-07-14 | weather

Big and strong typhoon no.4 that had brought heavy rain and wind to Okinawa and Kyusyu district is coming near.

It rained so much that it brought much damage to the districts; flood, landslide and so on.
Of course, many people were injured.

It is in Miyazaki district now and is heading for northeast.
Rain and wind are becoming stronger and stronger here too.

I wish there be little damage !

Rain

2007-05-16 | weather

It has been raining since this evening.
Farmers are glad, because it hasn't rained so much these days and the vegetable fields were dry.
Plants in the field must be glad too.

By the way, rainy season has started in Okinawa district today.

Evening scenery on May 4

Today is one of the 24 seasonal datum points called ''Ri-kka'; the first day of summer.
We will have a fine days for some time from now.

And it was the last day of long holidays called 'Golden week' in Japan,
but it was rainy all day.
So it wasn't a good day for the people who go somewhere.

These flowers called 'Hi-ru-sa-ki tsu-ki-mi-so-u';(Evening primrose that bloom during the day) are blooming beautifully now.

Ko-u-sa

2007-04-02 | weather

These days the sky looks cloudy owing to dust storm or very tiny grain of sand that is called 'Ko-u-sa' from Chinese continent.
I couldn't see the mountains far away clearly today.

Now is the season of cherry blossoms, so we want see them under the clear blue sky.
But we can't do anything about the phenomenon.

Taking a walk,  I saw this beautiful tree.
Though I don't know the name of this tree, white flowers are in full bloom now.

 Gardenia;(Ku-chi-na-shi)

Today is one of the 24 seasonal datum points called 'Ri-shu-n'; the first day of spring.
It'll be warmer and warmer from this time of the year.
In fact, it was very warm today, especially in the daytime.

But actually February is the coldest month of the year, so we call this month 'Ki-sa-ra-gi' in Japanese that means we put on clothes more.

Three cold days and four warm days will be repeated for the time being till warm spring comes.
We might get colds because of this weather.

So please take care !

Taking a walk this evening, I saw this beautiful sunset.

December 22 was 'the winter solstice';(To-ji).
The day was the shortest of the year on that day.
The day has been longer and longer since that day though the temperature colder and colder.
But the spring is sure to come and I will see the sign of spring here and there from now on.

Snowfall

2007-01-08 | weather
January 6 was one of the twenty four seasonal datum points called 'Snowfall a little';(Sho-u-se-tsu).
It begins to snow from around that day and it begins to become codler and codler till 'The coldest day'; (Da-i-kan).

It has been very cold since the day before yesterday.
Yesterday, wind blew strong at some parts of Japan and it snowed a little in the morning here in Okayamal too.
But the sun began to shine in the afternoon and the snow melted away soon.
It was the second time that I saw snow this winter.

Flower cabbage

Only a few days are left this year and a new year is around the corner.
We Japanese value 'the New year's holidays' very much as well as 'Bon holidays'.

We are making some new year's ornamens by rice plants.

It is very cold about this time of the year, but it isn't cold at all this winter.
It hasn't been snowing but raining since this afternoon.

The other day, I saw some snakes in my yard and two of them had been dead.
I think it strange that they aren't hibernating now.
That must be because of the warmth of this winter !

After the sun set in the west, the full moon began to rise in the east.
I happened to see the big orange moon above a mountain.

We Japanese love harvest moon; ' full moon' called Tsu-ki-mi in September or sometimes in October.
We enjoy seeing the moon offering rice cakes and Japanese pampas grass to the moon.

The moon this evening is also very nice !

Sky at 16:46

It's rainy in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon today.
There were lightning and thunders last night and the rainfall made the farmers glad.
It's unusual to have thunderstorm in this season.
But the plants and flowers must have been satisfied with the rainfall.
It is said that it's windy like a storm and cold northern part of Japan.
Here in Okayama prefecture, it became cold in the afternoon.

The clouds in the picture was running fast.

Harvest moon at midautaumn

2006-10-06 | weather
This is the 'harvest moon at midautumn' at 20:08.

It was windy today and it's cloudy in the evening.
In spite of the weather, I managed to see the full moon at midautumn tonight.
The moon is shining beautifully in the night autumn sky.
But sometimes, it is covered by the cloud.

Please click on the picture ! Moon in the evening sky at 18:05
These are the pictures of the moon taken at 17:59 and 18:05.

It's cool!

Japanese pampas grass

Though it was very  humid and hot like mid-summer days yesterday, it becomes very cool after raining today.
It is a season of turning point from hot summer days to a cool fall days, so we can't catch up with the alteration of this climate.
We apt to be sick in spite of the comfortable weather, because our tiredness during summer has been in our health yet.
Please take care!
