Flower of carrot (August 18)

Shizusan is leaving some carrots in the vegetable field to get some seeds.

But she is in the hospital now, so I wonder if she can grow vegetables after leaving the hospital.

I'll go to the hospital to agree to an informed consent tomorrow afternoon with my husband.
we'll see both a doctor of anesthetizing department and a surgical doctor.

The operation is scheduled to be performed the day after tomorrow.

Busy days

2008-08-23 | diary

persimmon

It's becoming cool  little by little these days.
Persimmons are growing well and I see many green fruits.
I'm looking forward to eating them in fall.

By the way, I'll be busy for a while.
My mother-in-law is going to be hospitalized for the surgical operation of rectum cancer next Monday  .
We are worrying about her disease because she is very old.

May the operation be successful !

2008-08-18 | Kiva

Evening sky

About three months have passed since I registered in Kiva.
And two months have passed since I lent money to Miss  Grace who is running a grocery store in Ghana.
She is planning to repay all the money she had borrowed in seven month and I got an e-mail from Kiva team today that she had repaid  $94.
This is my page.

She seems to be doing well !

Bon festival

2008-08-13 | shrine and temple

A priest of our zen-temple

Bon festival is being held from August 13 to August 15.
It is said the spirits of our ancestors come back from heaven during the festival.
Our priest came to my house to recite a sutra before an altar where the principal image of Buddha and mortuary tablets of our ancestors are set.
He recited sutra for about twenty minutes.

A priest from a temple called 'O-da-i-shi sa-ma' also came to my house the other day.
He recited a sutra before a stand called 'Mi-zu-ta-na sa-ma'.
It took only a few minutes.

Bon festival gives a chance to gather a family together.

Today I also went to my brother's house and prayed for my dead parents before an altar.

Bon festival is a big event for Japanese people !

Morning glory is one of the popular flowers in summer.
I was happy to see morning glories blooming in my yard this morning.
The seeds of this flower that had been presented by my neighbor last summer were scattered May 6 and I have watered them since then.
I was looking forward to seeing this flower.
At last they began to bloom !

Datura

Flowers of Datura are blooming every night one after another.
This plant has grown very well and the leaves began to cover the door of the entrance.
So I pruned this plant this evening.
I remembered this plant is poisonous though the flower is beautiful and smells so good.
I cut the stems of this plant carefully.
Contrary to the flower, the smell of the stem was so bad.
