表敬訪問 Cautesy Invitation

昨日は2箇所の表敬訪問をしました
ひとつめはボランティアの一次受け入れ先である公共事業省で、ここの女性次官補に面接して、全員が自己紹介をしました
女性が政府の上級職に就いているのは途上国でも珍しくないことです
ふたつめは日本大使館で、ここには外務省所属の人は2名だけで、臨時代理大使と書記官が1名あとは4名の日本人契約職員と、現地人スタッフです
大使はパプアニューギニアの大使が兼務です
ここの現地職員に、日本で会ったジミー・ヌアケのことを聞いたら、彼は同級生だということでした
オフィスに戻って、クラークのジャネットに昨日の借家の家賃を確認すると、10000ドルでいいということなので、入居の意思を伝えてもらいました
家具を入れて、ハンドシャワーの工事などを含めると、来週水曜日には入居できるということです

Yesterday, we visited two facilities.
The first one was the Ministry of the Public Service and we met two women who were the under secretary of the personnel.
All of us introduced our selves and explained them about our assignment.
Next one was the Japanese Embassy and met almost all staff of there.
I asked to the local staff about Mr. Jimmy Nuake and one of them said that Jimmy was the classmate of him.
After going back to the JICA office, I asked to Jannet to negotiate the rental fee of the house which I saw the before yesterday in Naha.
Soon she got a good price 10,000 S$ and I asked her again to say agree on it.
All furniture and hand shower will be installed by next Wednesday and I will be able to move on Wednesday.

銀行口座 Bank Account

昨日は朝からビクターに銀行に連れて行ってもらい、口座を開設しました
ここにＪＩＣＡから生活費や住宅費などが振り込まれます
10人全員が開設を完了するのに3時間半ほどかかりました
オンラインの事務手続きだけだと思われますが、一人1時間ほどかかり、それを2箇所の同時進行でおこないますが、この時間です
ソロモンの時間の流れがゆっくりしていることを再認識しました
オフィスに戻り諸手続きを済ませて、もう一件の賃貸不動産を見に行きました
昨日の物件よりもやや遠く、車がないとまったく不可能な物件ですが家はすばらしく、家主も政府の高官で高級住宅地にあります
ＪＩＣＡの予算を話して、その額で折り合いがつけばいいのですが、明日の昼までに返事をするということにしました
ホテルに戻ってインターネットアクセスを試みましたが、部屋からはまったくダメで、エントランス付近がなんとか、そしてレストランではしっかりとつながることが確認できましたので、食事をとりながらメールチェックとブログの更新をしました
しかしメールのつながりだけはあまりよくありません

Yesterday, Victor took us to the ANZ Bank to open the accounts.
JICA local office will send our daily expenses and accommodation fee.
It took about 3 and half hours to accomplish all of us and I realized the slow time advancing in this country.
Going back to the office and after finishing the all procedures we went to see another rental house.
It was little further than the house yesterday we saw and it was difficult to be there without a car.
The house was located in a high society zone Naha and the owner was the high positioned person of the government.
I told my budget to him and we will discuss and answer by tomorrow noon.
After coming back to the hotel, I checked the internet connection.
It was not possible to connect in my room and the main entrance of the hotel was little better and in the restaurant was the best.
During a dinner, I rewrote my blog and checked the mail.
However the connection of the hotmail was still not good.

無事到着 Arrive

昨日現地時間13時、日本時間で午前１１時にホニアラ空港に無事到着しました
タラップを降りて歩いてターミナルビルに向かうと、屋上から「こんにちは」と日本語が聞こえ、調整員の中原さんと数人のＪＯＣＶが迎えに来てくれました
しかし入国審査は気が遠くなるほど、時間がかかりました
ＪＩＣＡオフィスのビクターの運転するダブルピックのトラックでとりあえず、宿泊先のホテルへ行きましたが、ホテルのネット環境が最悪で、Hotmailがつながりません
シャワーを浴びてリフレッシュしたあと、ふたたびビクターの車でＪＩＣＡオフィスへ
16時から全員で所長はじめ現地スタッフに自己紹介
そのあと早速家探しに出かけ、ビクターの運転で候補の物件を見に行きました
郊外の北向き斜面に建つ2階建ての家で、１階にＪＯＣＶが二人住んでいて、２階に大家さんが住んでいますが、そこを貸してくれるということです
洗濯機や冷蔵庫もついているので、当面の不自由はなさそうです
19時から私のホテルの隣にある中華レストランで歓迎会をしていただきました
２１時には終了してシャワーを浴びてすぐに寝ました
ＪＩＣＡオフィスはネットがつながりますが、共用ＰＣなのであまり私用には使えません
明日はもう一度ホテルでトライします

We arrived at Honiara airport at 13:00 in local time and 11:00am in Japanese time.
Going down the gangway ladder, we could hear the Japanese voice “konnitiwa” from the roof of the terminal building.
Mr. Nakahara the volunteer coordinator and some JOCVs were waiting there to welcome for us.
However the entrance inspection was so late and we made them to wait for a long time.
Victor who is the JICA local staff took us to the hotel and we took shower and refresh ourselves.
After two hours, Victor took us to the JICA Solomon Office and we met Mr. Watanabe the manager of Solomon office.
After then I went out to see a rental house which is located on a North face of the hill about 1km west from JICA office.
The down stairs of two floors house, two JOCVs were living and the owner was living upstairs.
Full-furnished house seemed very nice.
From 19:00, the all Honiara members held the welcome party for us at the Chinese restaurant next to our hotel.
It finished at 21:00, we went back and took shower again and went to bed soon.

グアム乗り継ぎ Transit at Guam

ただいまグアムの空港です
羽田で集合してソロモン行きが10名とパラオ行きが2名同じ飛行機で来ました
ここで乗り継ぎの待ち時間が6時間ですが、入国審査が混んでいてすでに２時間近く経過しました
乗客の9割ぐらいは日本人のようですが、そのほとんどは一目見てバカンスとわかります
この空港は無線ＬＡＮが使えるのでインターネットは快適につながります
次の経由地フィジーはちょっと期待できそうもありません

Now, we arrived at Guam airport for transit.
We 10 people going to Solomon Islands and 2people going to Palau gathered at Narita this morning and got same aircraft.
The connecting flight for Fiji is 9:45 PM and for Palau is 6:30 but we already spent almost 2 hours because the passport control jam.
About 90% of the passengers seemed Japanese and most of them looked significantly they were in vacation.
The wireless LAN is available in this airport and it connects very comfortable but it will be difficult at the next destination Fiji.
