The literal meaning can be roughly translated as "something (usually alive) that's dark", or "blackey".

God I haven't heard anyone use it in a while. Korean-American here born and raised in Texas. Parents used this to describe anyone of black descent. When I was a kid it would be used as a goofy way of describing a black person. Now that I'm older it's seems very racist to me, like the Korean equivalent of the N word

with one being a derogatory term, and the other defining a noun that is black or dark.

There's more explaination in the links to both threads. Given that his comment was about Jungkook's tan and BTS has made other colorist comments during this time period, it's more likely that it's a negative connotation. A lot of Black fans are hurt by his comment. I hope they address this like they did with the 'naega' censorship issue.

There's absolutely no excuse for this, but as always, you'll see AMRY tripping over themselves attempting to shield his annoying ass. He's always been my very least fav in BTS and shit like this only reiterate my feelings about him.
