マティス氏 イランに関して言えば、イランは世界最大のテロ支援国家です。自身の行為を多くの人々が注視しているんだとイランが認識している、ということを確かめることは賢明なことです。秩序の維持を望む国々と連帯しつつ、我々はこの点をはっきりとイランに知らしめる責任があるのです。この問題を無視してはなりませんし、目を背けるのも好ましくありません。しかし、現時点では米国が中東において軍事力を強化する必要はないと考えます。今のところ、（その選択肢は）ありえません。そうすることはいつでも可能ですが、現時点では不要です。
しかし、言い添えておきたいのですが、イランは法に基づく国際秩序を尊重しておりません。レバノンやシリア、バーレーン、イエメンなどに関しても、見過ごせない不正行為があると認識しています。これについては対処することになるでしょう。
