本ブログでも人種差別問題で何度か、取り上げた北アイルランド。北ア在住のルーマニア住民を襲撃して、ルーマニア人は、逃走、結局ルーマニアに帰国することになった。
で、北アイルランド人は憎しみに取り憑かれている、と発言する人まででてきた。
そしたら、北アイルランド人から非難囂々・・・・憎しみが渦巻いているようですな。
で、まあ、この事件、後日談がある。
当初はルーマニア人として報道されていたわけだが、当のルーマニア人からは、やつらはルーマニア人じゃなくてジプシー（ロマ）なんだ、と。この言い分を理解するには、帰国したルーマニアでも、ジプシーはさんざん差別されていることを理解しないと了解しがたいかもしれない。

ハンガリーでのジプシーに対するひどい扱いと比較されている。ハンガリーでもかなりひどいのだ。

社会では底辺で、差別されることが双方当然のようになっているらしい。
因みに、アメリカ人もジプシーに関しては、欧州人のような偏見を持っていないようである。日本人のと近いかもしれない。
で、北アイルランドで差別されるのは、ジプシーだけかと思ったら大間違い。

そして、ご覧のような日本人と顔つきの似ているタイプの北アの議員も人種差別的な脅迫メールを受けている。
もっとも、以前、似たような記事を読んだことがある。
北アイルランドはヨーロッパの人種的憎悪の首都
理不尽に日本バッシングするひとのなかにもこうした意識がない、とは言い切れないでしょう。
そして、UKにも反人種差別法などあるんでしょうけど、どうなっているんでしょうかね？
アメリカでも欧州でもそうですけど、こうして激化、蔓延した、人種差別の歴史と現実があるからこそ、反差別法が制定されるわけですが、そうした反差別法があっても、こんな感じ、というところが深刻さを物語っているのかもしれません。
日本でも、出身者や在日朝鮮・韓国人に対して心ない言葉をネットで言う人がいますけど、やはり、それは愚かしいし、冷酷である。反日運動に抵抗するのと、人種・国籍差別をごっちゃにしてはいけない。また、ごっちゃにすれば揚げ足をとられるだけです。
日本でも人権擁護法などさらなる法律を議論するのはもちろん結構なことですが、
というように、老子のいうように、道徳も、法律も忠義云々もいわなくても国が治まっているのが理想かもしれません。理想でしょうけど、そこまではいくのは難しい。しかし、まあ、法律以前に、文化的実践で、心のない迷信的な人種差別や国籍差別などはないようにしたいものです。

アメリカ人が、オーストリアで、レイシャルプロファイリングを受けて、麻薬ディーラーと間違えられてボコボコにされたが、間違いに気づいても、ほっぽかれた、ということです。
被害者が白人か黒人かわかりませんが、少数弱者や移民の半分はオーストリアでは差別が蔓延している、とくに、ジプシーやアフリカ人は政府が差別をやめさせる気がない、云々とありますから、黒人の方だったのかもしれませんね。

オースラリアにおいてインド人学生などに対する襲撃はここのところ、かなり報道されていました。インド系の新聞では、「また、やられた」「また、事件だ！」と連日のように報道されていましたが、一方、インド人に対する暴行はあったが、すべてが人種差別を動機にするものではない、という釈明もあったりしました。差別が動機でないにせよ、外国人学生がそんなに暴行をうけるってのもちょっと怖い気もしますが・・・・

ただ、言いたいのは、在日外国人の方も自国のニュースをちゃんと読んで下さいね、ということかな。
それと、日本人の中にも欧米・欧米人を美化する傾向がある人がいるようだが、しかし、日本人でも欧米人でも差別主義者もいる。
そうでない人もいる。
日本を愛して下さる欧米人もいるし、欧米を愛する日本人もいる。
バランスのとれた認識が肝要だと思う。

n the wake of the Belfast attacks, a number of Romanians wrote to newspapers dissociating themselves from the Roma. Does she consider them to be Romanians? "No. " A vociferous shake of the head, and a certain disbelief that I'm asking the question at all. "They don't have the Romanian soul." The striking thing is the tone in which this is said. She seems a kind woman and yet, unquestioning of her assumptions.
Ciprian Necula, a Roma who works for Sper, a campaign to reduce discrimination against the Roma, says this is common, and that it's usually ignorance rather than active racism: "Romania is full of proverbs about Gypsies, and children grow up being told that if you don't behave I'll send you to the Gypsies."
He contrasts it with the behaviour of far-right groups in Hungary, where two weeks ago, he says, Molotov cocktails were thrown into Roma houses, "and when people ran away they shot them. A month ago a father and son were killed. The son was only three years old."

News from Austria via AP today reveals the unfortunate story of an American teacher named Mike Brennan. Apparently Brennan was beaten, after getting off the subway in Vienna by Austrian police who thought he was a drug dealer. The 35 year old gym teacher and former football player is said to still be recovering from injuries he sustained in the unprompted attach, while Austrian officials have yet to apologize for the beating. The most astounding part for this writer, is that once police realized their mistake, they simply left the man lying there hurt.
Brennan, who has worked in Vienna for the last 4 years, said he was attacked by officers who never even identified themselves, who simply left Brennan lying on the ground once they realized their mistake. Brennan is still recovering from his injuries which caused him to miss work for several months. Amnesty International has reported that Austria has a history of nationalistic and/or racial profiling. According to the organization, Austrian officials routinely deny equal treatment to non-citizens and people of color.
A European Problem
A study by the Vienna based EU Fundamental Rights Agency revealed that over 50 percent of minorities and immigrants believe that Austria has a widespread problem with discrimination. This particular survey asked over 20,000 people across the EU about discrimination. It revealed that Gypsies and Africans apparently suffer the most abuse, and that these groups have little confidence in government’s ability to stop discrimination.
