　米陸軍は17日までに、7月の米兵自殺者が38人だったと発表した。月別自殺者の公表を始めた2009年以降では最悪。今年1～7月の総計は187人に達し、同時期のアフガニスタンでの米兵戦死者197人に迫った。年間自殺者も過去最悪を記録する可能性が高そうだ。

　イラクとアフガンで10年以上続いた戦闘が終息に向かう一方、米軍内部では心的外傷後ストレス障害（ＰＴＳＤ）や、社会生活への適応に苦しむ兵士の自殺が急増。パネッタ国防長官は自殺対策を最重要事項の一つと位置付け「あらゆる手を尽くす」と表明している。

　７月の自殺者の内訳は現役陸軍兵士26人に対し、州兵・予備役兵12人。現役兵士の年間自殺者は７月末までに116人に上った。（※「共同通信」からの引用はここまで）

Ｓｈｉｓａｋｕさんなら、アメリカは兵士による他殺も自殺も多い、というかもしれないな。
