●I want UDON noodles 饂飩 eaten by dipping in a hot broth!
Please!

When I was a junior, Shibuya is more grown-up town than now.

In UDAGAWA-Cho Shibuya, there was my favorite Japanese noodle “UDON” shop in the building where KOMAGATA DOJOU “駒形どじょう“ was on the first floor.

I worked at the coffee shop named “VESTA ” near the noodle shop in those days.
And as a consequence, I used the noodle shop before I worked at the coffee shop.

But I was a university student and did not have enough money, so I always ate the cheapest dish in the noodle shop.
And that was UDON noodles eaten by dipping in a hot broth! “釜揚げうどん”

In the UDON shop there was always the kind old man standing at the counter, and he was making (hitting) UDON with talking and talking.

He liked talking so he was always caught up in conversation with gests and stopped making UDON.

But I liked him and the shop very much.

Time passed.
I became a business man and worked at the company in Shinjuku.
I have kept away from Shibuya.

And Shibuya also has changed from adult town to youth town which has “109” or something youth shops.
And It has changed in UDAGAWA district.

At last the coffee shop I worked at part time closed.

Even so I went to the UDON shop by taxi with my coworkers and went there with my wife.
And then I got salary so I ordered not UDON noodles eaten by dipping in a hot broth but “EBI HOT” which has prawn fritter and many fillings.

I have been to UDAGAWA-CHO Shibuya for many times.

One day I went to the UDON shop with my wife.
“Oh no! There is nothing!” I said.

There was no building, also no KOMAGATA DOJOU and no UDON shop, and was only a vacant lot.
I don’t forget the surprise.

But I came back home and soon checked the shop on the internet.
The UDON noodle shop named YASHIMA had a new location in YOYOGI-HACHIMAN.

That was YASHIMA in YOYOGI-HACHIMAN.
And now I always go to YASHIMA in YOYOGI-MACHIMAN when I want to eat UDON.

There is no old man talking a lot but there is his son and his grandson carrying on the UDON shop.

I thank the UDON shop for having my favorite shop for 25years.

●釜揚げうどん
よろしく！

西宮の田舎から上京して2年目の大学生だった私
そのころの渋谷は今よりも大人の街だったと思います。

渋谷は宇田川町、宇田川交番の先にある雑居ビルの1階に駒形どじょう、そしてそのビルの地下に、行きつけのうどん屋さん「やしま」がありました。

当時私はその雑居ビルの斜め前にあったビルの地下にある、コーヒー専門店「ヴェスタ」でバイトをしておりました。

そしてそれが縁で、自然とアルバイトに入る前に饂飩屋に立ち寄っていたのでした。

しかし、そこは大学生・・・アルバイトといってもそんなに稼ぎがあるわけではなく、てんぷらつきなどいろんなサイドオーダーもあるうどんや饂飩屋でしたが、私が注文するのはもっぱら、一番低価格の釜揚げうどん！

カウンターにいるといつも、話好きで細めのおじいちゃんが、うどんを打っては細くきり・・・なんだけれども、いつも話に夢中になって仕事が止まる・・・という感じでした。

そんな饂飩屋さんでしたが
私も社会人になり、サラリーマンの新宿通いから渋谷からだんだんと足が遠のき、一方で大人の街、渋谷も109だのと客層が低年齢化していくにつれて、宇田川町界隈の雰囲気もずいぶんと変わっていきました。

そしてしまいには、バイト先だったヴェスタも閉店・・・

それでも新宿から同僚とともにダーッと渋谷のやしままで饂飩を食べにいったこともありましたし、結婚もしてかみさんと伺ったことも何度かありました。

もっともそのころには給料取りの身ですこしはメニューもランクアップ、　具も結構入ったうえにエビのてんぷらをのせたメニュー名「エビホット！」なんてものを食べたりもしたものです。

そんな感じで、年に数回か訪れていた宇田川町
あるときいつもと同じようにかみさんと、訪れると
「あれ？ない・・・」　そうです、駒形どじょうもやしまも、というかそれらが入っていたビルごとなくなってしまい、まったくの更地になってしまっていました。

あのときの驚きは今でも忘れられませんね。

でも、そのあと家に帰ってインターネットで調べてみると
渋谷のやしま　は移転して、代々木八幡のやしま！　に替わっていました。

ホッ助かった・・・という感じです。

で今も饂飩！　となると代々木八幡のやしまに通っているしだいです。

渋谷時代のおじいさんはもういないけれども、その息子さんとお孫さんがしっかりと頑張っています。

「お～今日は車かい・・・」
「いや今日はサッカーの講習会があったからのその帰りなんで電車・・・」
「サッカー・・・暑いのにようやるわぁ・・・・」


何にしても25年にもわたってなじみのお店をもてるのは本当にありがたいことだと思います。
