一ヶ月前の6月10日に海外の友人に送っていたメールの一部です。

For the last few days in Japan, the "loopy" prime minister Hatoyama Yukio resigned and another reshuffled, doubtful Cabinet was formed. The new head Kan Naoto doesn't seem to be experienced in diplomacy at all and I have some fear for the future of Japan. The result of a public-opinion census which says that 60% approx. of the respondents are maintaining the Democratic Party is quite beyond credibility, and it indicates that people are hunters after novelty.

Well, we have a polling day to elect members of the Upper House in July. Let's see if it's going to be a nightmare following that of the last summer, or the veteran party is going to roll back the tide.
