The younger woman had allegedly thrown a cigarette butt out of the car window, which is illegal in the state of Texas. State Trooper David Farrell proceeded to pull over the car and called his colleague, Trooper Kelley Helleson, to search the women for drugs.

Hamilton couple who tortured disabled man seeks reduced sentences

A Hamilton couple who held a developmentally disabled man captive and tortured him while draining his bank account to buy drugs and video game equipment is asking for lighter sentences.

Dakota Thompson and Stanley Brown were part of a group convicted of aggravated assault and forcible confinement for inflicting horrific injuries on a 23-year-old disabled man over more than two weeks in 2009.
The victim went to the Corktown apartment where three people in the group lived, thinking they were going to help him look for a missing cellphone. Instead, the group of people ― Thompson, Brown, their roommate and a youth ― confined him there for 17 days, burned him with a hair straightener, made him eat feces and drink urine, beat him and poured cayenne pepper into the bath when he tried to wash his wounds.
When the victim was discovered by police he had facial fractures, disfiguring injuries and a gaping head wound. One of the first officers on scene thought he was dead.
Shock as thief targets disabled man in Dalkeith

NEIGHBOURS of a disabled man robbed in his own home while his mother was visiting the shops have branded the thief “sick”.
The 44-year-old was sitting in his wheelchair alone in his Dalkeith home when the man walked in, spoke to him and then stole his wallet, which had been sitting on his lap.
The victim was pushed during a brief struggle before the attacker fled the Easthouses Court flat between 12.30pm and 1.20pm on Thursday.
It emerged that the property’s front door had been left unlocked while the disabled man’s mother, who is his primary carer, made a short trip to the shops.
The victim was left shaken by the opportunistic attack, but was not injured.
Neighbour Liz Greens, 58, who described the victim as a “nice laddie”, said: “I don’t know how people could do that. It’s really sick.”
