私の実家の裏に大木が生えています。
この木は地元ではアカギ
って呼ばれていますが正式名称は分かりません。
ただこの木の樹齢は良く分ります。
これは４７歳です。
なぜ分るかと言えば
実はここには元々アカギの大木がありましたが
私が２０歳の時に切ったのです。
台風で倒れると家が壊れる
母親がそれを心配してましたので
私が大学の休みで帰省した時に切ったのです
一人で切りましたから大変でしたが
若くて体力がありましたので上に命綱もつけずに昇って
枝を次々に切り落として
最後は根元からバッサリ
良くやったものだと思います。
最近私たちの墓地の敷地で
業者に依頼して大木を切ったら
３０万だったと兄が言っていましたが
それを聞いて思いましたね。
私がやりたかった
と
なんせどう見てもアカギの方が大変ですから
３０万貰えるなら
そっちも切りたかった
そんな気持ちが湧いてきました。
まぁしかし実際には無理ですよ。
もう高い所に昇のは命がけですから
いくらお金を貰ってもできる物ではありません。
そんな話はともかく
このアカギの大木は
私が切った後から新しく同じ場所に生えたのです。
だから正確に樹齢が分るのです。
そおして実家に帰ってこの大木を見ると
自分が若かった時の事を思い出して
懐かしくなるのです。
ただ
もうこの大木はずっそのまま屋敷の守り神になるでしょうね。
素人が切るには危険すぎます。
で
同じく私の実家に生えてるこの小さな木
地元ではクルチって読んでますが
これは正式名称が分ります
リュウキュウ黒檀です。
サンシンの材料になります。
でこの木
何歳だと思います？
実は私も分かりません
私が生まれた時にはすでにありましたので
いつ誰が植えたか分からないのです
ただ正確な樹齢は分かりませんが
最低120年は経ってると思います。
それは
今から３３年前に亡くなった
私の祖父の弟が言っていたのです
自分が物心ついた時にはすでにあった
と
そのお爺さんは1911年生まれですから
今生きていれば122歳です
だから最低１２０年は経ってる
そう言える訳です。
しかし面白いですよね。
こんな小さな木が台風も干ばつも
また戦争も乗り越えて
延々と生きてるのです。
これを見ると
小さな事は
長く生きるには有利
そんな風にも思えてきますよね。
まぁ実際には分りませんが
当社の場合は好むと好まざるとに関らず
小さい訳ですからね。
このリュキュウ黒檀のように
しぶとく２２世紀まで生き残る
是非私の後を継ぐ人たちには
そんな思いで頑張って欲しい物です。

Climbing to a high place is risking my life.
It's not something I can do no matter how much money I get.

After I cut it, a new one grew in the same spot.

It already existed when I was born.
We don't know when or who planted it.
However, I don't know the exact age of the tree.
I think it's been at least 120 years.
Because My grandfather's younger brother told me the clue
He passed away 33 years ago.
He said this small tree was there when he was born
He was born in 1911.
If he were alive today, he would be 122 years old.
So at least 120 years have passed.

But it's interesting.
