Labour then said that British workers were too expensive to fill the country's employment requirements, and immigrants were needed to fill the gap. Insisting on the need to reduce the wages of public sector and other workers by introducing immigrants who would accept lower pay and worse conditions was a new departure for a party which used to pride itself on promoting the interests of disadvantaged Britons. But Labour went ahead with the policy anyway

The Home Secretary also says she is considering banning migrants' families from coming to Britain, although how she could do so is unclear: the right to family reunion is one of the most fundamental in Labour's Human Rights Act, and any legislation which abrogated it would be struck down by the courts.

Labour is belatedly waking up to the degree of resentment that its policy of encouraging large-scale immigration has generated. There are ominous signs that the chief beneficiary of that resentment will be the odious and racist British National Party. It won a seat last week in a council by-election in Sevenoaks, Kent, in a ward that Labour had long regarded as its own.

The net deficit is caused by a low level of tax payments by immigrants, because they are disproportionately low-skilled and thus earn low wages, and a higher rate of consumption of government services, both because of their relative poverty and their higher fertility.

That is, perfectly free migration entirely eliminates the gains from trade that US natives had enjoyed. World income rose with the migration, but the natives of foreign countries in this case received more than all of this rise, since the income of US natives declined. With the world’s majority of low-wage workers in the US, there would be tremendous damage to free trade and its benefits, with US middle and upper-middle class workers suffering the brunt of declining wages.

これも移民問題で、移民は安賃金で働いているから、それほど税金を払わない、しかし、貧乏だから、福祉の恩恵は受けている。結局、国民＝アメリカ人が損をして、世界の貧困問題を解決しようしているだけだ。左翼はそうしたいのだろうが、それはいかがなものか？といった感じ。





Such record levels, plus greater longevity, have caused the Government actuaries to recalculate population growth.
They now think it will pass the 65 million mark in 2023 and reach 70 million by 2031, placing huge pressure on public services and pensions.　

Even senior Labour figures such as Frank Field have voiced their concerns that the country is unprepared, both culturally and practically, to cope.
