先日6/30(木)から一般書店発売の新刊イスラーム書籍をご紹介いたします。

『イスラームの豊かさを考える』…日本のイスラーム研究を代表する奥田先生と中田先生を主幹編集執筆者とした、

お二人の優秀な生徒さんたちであった新進気鋭の研究者たちによる作品です。

唯一研究者とは言えない門外漢の私も執筆者陣に加えていただいた本作は、

お世話になったシリア・ダマスカスの先生方に感謝を込めながら綴ったものとして

大変思い出深いものとなりました。

と題した拙稿は、詰め込んだ気持ちほどは思いを表現しきれたかどうか…。

文章の稚拙さかつ字数制限もあって

初めてのフィールドワークでダマスカスやハラブ(アレッポ)にてインタビューにお付き合いくださった

マシャーイフ(導師たち)すべてのご厚意にお応えすることはできせんでしたが、

願わくは私がダマスカスで浴した知行合一かつ知心合一の伝統イスラーム学魂の一端でもお伝えできるものとなっていることを祈ります。

Assalaamu 'Alaykum, my dear brothers and sisters,

Here is another new book on Islam in Japanese language under the title of "To think about the Wealth of Islam"

forcusing on various aspects of Wealth or Richness in Islam.

What makes this book special is that core authors of this book are Two of the biggest Muslim scholars in Japan,

Dr.Kamal OKUDA and Dr.Hasan NAKATA besides their briliant young student scholars.

This book talks about;

-General understanding of Wealth in Islam

-Wealth of Islam in its Economy

-Wealth of Islam in its Education

-Civilization theory and Wealth

-Wealth of Islam in its Law

 

 

and I was fortunate enough to take a part in this book

although I'm the only one who is not working in the Academic field...

Alhamdu lillaah, I wrote the article titled "The education which leads to the wealth (richness) of hearts

-Knowledge and Spirits of the ancestors over the generations-

～taking examples from traditional Islamic education in Damascus, Syria～"

with a lot of gratitude for all the scholars who taught me during my study in Damascus besides my first time fieldwork resarch visiting Damascus and Aleppo last summer, but due to the lack of my writing ability and limited pages, I couldn't really answer all their favors.

However, at least I wish what I wrote could somehow express

how it's like to be blessed by Merciful Allah that He makes you among the fortunate ones

of recieving the knowledge and the spirit of our great ancestors by the unbroken chains of traditional Islamic education.

(Of course, the amount of recieving such blessings differ from one person to the other, and mine is very little compared to others)

 

 So, if you were among those who studied Japanese language and interested in how Islam is being introduced to Japanese people,

or know some Japanese friends who are interested in such topics like seeing the true richness,

『イスラームと女性』新刊書籍のご案内(New Books on Islam "Islam and Women")

アッサラーム　アライクム。

今月2011年6月刊行となりました新刊イスラーム書籍をご紹介いたします。

本編は筆者皆ムスリムという大変ユニークなイスラーム信仰叢書シリーズ全十巻の第七巻に位置づけられるものです。

Assalaamu 'Alaykum, my dear and respected brothers and sisters!

Let me introduce you to the new book on Islam for Japanese reading people under the title of "Islam and Women"

published by Kokusho Kankokai available in the public book shops.

This book is counted as No.7 in 10 books series of introducing the faith of Islam which Dr.Amin Mizutani

(one of the directors in Japan Muslim Association) worked hard to achieve them since what is unique for this series is

that all the authors for each articles are Muslim Japanese, both brothers and sisters, seniors and young.

Alhamdu lillaah, it was honor for me to take a part in writing an article in this book and my part was about

"Muslimah in the Qur'an" forcusing on ideal Muslimah taking role models from the Lady Maryam, the Lady Aasiya, the Lady 'Aaishah

(May Allah be pleased with them) questioning and answering if the Muslimah in Japan could really live somewhat ideal Muslimah life or not.

Memorial Weekend of ICNA Convention 2011 (Episode 3)

 

Subhaana-llaah, the 2nd day of the convention was such memorial day

with full of events and memorial meetings.

Starting with Fajr prayer which I was surprised to be asked for standing as Imam for it. I doubted the offer.

“I’m only a visitor from Japan. You have many Imams among you!”

Subhaana-llaah, besides the fear of standing in front of Allah the Almighty,

the responsibility I felt standing as the Imam of the prayer in front of many brothers and sisters

including some Imams and scholars in U.S. was something remarkable and for sure wasn’t easy thing.

After the prayer, Ustadh Na’eem kindly introduced me to the brothers and

we listened to the short lecture of Shaykh Omar Sulaiman.

He spoke about the importance of Faith in Unseen

under the reality of how we human beings are strongly affected by visible things.

Maa shaa Allah, how wonderful his lecture was!

He seemed to be quite young but the way he spoke was so sophisticated and talented!

How I wished to see such brilliant young Imams back in Japan from Muslim Japanese or Japanese speaking Muslims as well.

In shaa Allah, one day soon! Allah is capable of everything!

 

Here is one video clip from his lecture. May Allah protects him and increase the numbers of Muslim scholars with traditional sacred knowledge of Islam like him and others.

 Hafiz of the Qur'an, Br.Faheem (Black clothes) with his younger brother Musa and his new uncle in faith!

 

While I was being amazed with everything, a young brother came close to me and greeted me with Salaam confirming my name as if he knows me.  

Subhaana-llaah! He is the first Muslim Japanese related Haafiz (as far as I know) whose mother is from Japan and father is from Guiana.

In shaa Allah, this brilliant young brother Faheem is going to stay in Beppu, Oita prefecture (which my father’s side root is from Nakatsu of Oita) to spend some years with his grandfather.

Maa shaa Allah, he is very much willing to contribute in Da’wah activities in any way he could.

What is greater contribution than teaching Qur’an!?

  

Alhamdu lillaah, I came across through Muslim networks with his mother consulting about sending her son to Japan and since I visited several times to Beppu and know some really generous brothers there, I sort of like became a bridge for them and Alhamdu lillaah, Merciful Allah brought us together to meet each other in real before he comes to Japan.

 

  

 

 

Helping Hand was going to hold a Q&A session in the second day of the convention

between 11:30 to 13:00 for the programme called “Youth for Japan” and

they were distributing the advertising card for visitors.

I suggested if I could distribute them by myself and they welcomed the idea

so I started the Bazar tour at the same time with distributing that card

greeting brothers and sisters (well, to sisters wasn’t easy),

“Assalaamu ‘Alaykum. Please come along to Japan!”.

Well, an invitation to Japan from a Japanese hopefully made that sound more appealing, In shaa Allah.  

 

 

 

Adhaan, a beautiful call to the Maghrib prayer visited my ears and went to prayer place, another surprise caught me with praising Allah.

Maa shaa Allah, how many Muslims do we have, here!?

 

 

After praying Maghrib and ‘Ishaa as a traveller,

I went upstairs to join the first official programme for me

which is to join the dinner meeting with Helping Hand Executive members.

Alhamdu lillaah, it was nice and inspiring meeting with some short speeches of

Shaykh ‘AbdurRahman Khan who visited Japan in April 2011 to help the victims of Tsunami and

Dr.Zahid Bukhari who is the president of Islamic Circle of North America

that taught me through their words that Muslims in America are passing now quite critical time

such as masses of American people may want to focus on “Banning the Sharee’ah”

for the next presidential election but as Almighty Allah says in His Holy Qur’an,

“Indeed, with the hardship there is ease. Indeed, with the hardship there is ease”

so that Muslims shouldn’t be pessimistic as Merciful Allah teaches us that ease are always more than the hardship like what Shaykh ‘AbdurRahman Khan said.

アメリカのムスリム事情初見聞録(エピソード1)

  

  マグリブの礼拝に集まったICNAコンベンション参加者たち

アルハムドゥリッラー、初めての米国訪問は、とても勉強になる思い出深いものとなりました。

コネチカット州のハートフォードにあるマリオットホテル隣接のコンベンションセンターで開催された

「ICNA CONVENTION 2011」は、それはもう見事なものでした。

  

会場に足を踏み入れると、受付ブースをはじめ被災者支援活動のHelping Handや

伝教かつ新入信者ケアのWhyislam、相互理解を促す Bridge TVなど、

団体紹介ブースに加えてKFCをもじったハラールのフライドチキンHFCや

フィラデルフィアではじまったというビーフチーズサンドウィッチ、フィリーサンドなど飲食店ブースが通路にならび、

ホール内にはところ狭しと様々なお店や活動紹介ブースがならぶバザー会場になっていました。

 

　見てるだけで愉快なムスリムみんなの賑わい

 

 

マーシャーアッラー、ハラールビタミン剤ブース、Helping Handブース、ICNA Reliefブース、

Al-Maghrib Instituteブース、本屋、なつめやし屋、はちみつ他自然薬用品ブース、子ども教材ブース、

アラビア文字装飾品ブース、ヒジャーブ＆アバーヤ店、デジタルクルアーンやアザーン時計店、

食事コーナー、子ども遊技場など、楽しい雰囲気に満ちた空間は、

関係者によればコンベンション全体の準備には三カ月前から500人もの関係者が係わってきたのだとか。

 

同時進行でコンベンションセンター3階の大ホールやホテル内の各ホール(2会場)では、

ゲストスピーカーを交えての講演やトピック別のイベントが行われており、

テレビの番組表のごとく幾つもあるプログラム・メニューの中から自分の興味あるものに参加するようになっていました。

バザー会場の横には礼拝用の広場があり、その一角では若者向けプログラムが進行中。

聞けば「4時間聞いていても飽きずにみんな釘づけ」というほど若者の間で最近大人気のヌウマーン・アリー・ハーン氏の講義ほか、

きちんと別に企画されているのが素晴らしい。

その他クルアーン読誦大会や夜の部のエンターテイメント・プログラムなど、

ムスリム少数派圏の先進地域アメリカのイスラーム活動のすごさを思い知らされることばかりでした。

 

 

到着日初日5/28はまず隣接のホテルにチェックインしたあと小一時間ほど休ませてもらい、

会場見学とマグリブの礼拝の後夜9時からHelping Hand理事会メンバーと

ICNA代表のザーヒド・ブハーリー博士と共にサウジとパキスタンからの来客を交えて夕食というのが

私に充てられたプログラムでした。(ビイズニッラー、続編へ)
