On Dec. 20, U.S. ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel held an exclusive meeting with Kyodo News. After highly appreciating the three documents including "the national security strategy," which were approved at a cabinet meeting by Tokyo to upgrade defense capability, saying that "they are to address changing security environment," he emphasized that Washingto and U.S. Congress bipartisan support it.
He also showed thinking that the U.S. will totally cooperate with Japan in possessing counter-strike capability (enemy base attack capability) and addressing Chinese vessels.

On Dec. 19, Joint Staff Office of Ministry of Defense released that two Chinese Air Force H6 bombers passed between the Okinawa main-island and Miyako Island, and entered into the Pacific Ocean.
The Air SDF fighter jets scrambled to address them.

Over the Pacific Ocean south of Okinawa on Dec. 17, carrier-based fighter jets and helicopter(s) took-off & landed on the Chinese PLA Navy's aircraft carrier, "Liaoning." It's therefore possible to have conducted some kind of drills.
The MoD has analyzed will on the Chinese side such as relations with the flight of the bombers.
According to the MoD, the two bombers flew in from the East China Sea, flew into the Pacific Ocean, then turned around southeast of Okidaito Island, and returned to the East China Sea via the same route.

On Dec. 19, the intra-LDP lawmakers group "the Conference to Japan's Dignity and National Interest" (JDI) held a meeting in the Diet over the issue that Chinese policy deploys "overseas police stations" in foreign countries including Japan, and fixed a policy to require the government to investigate the reality.
The reason why is that it's pointed out that the Chinese authorities are using it to monitor Chinese dissidents abroad, and it could infringe on Japan's sovereignty.

"Tokyo has only said that [It would be a problem if it's something like an overseas police]. The Netherlands took a measure to coercively close it."
UH lawmaker Shigeharu Aoyama, head of the JDI, said so at the meeting and showed a strong sense of crisis.

Regarding the "overseas police stations" of the Chinese police, a Spanish human rights NGO (non-governmental organization) pointed out that it's used by the Chinese authorities as bases to force Chinese living abroad engaged in anti-regime activities to return home via threats to their families in China.
According to the NGO, there are 102 police stations in 53 countries.

It's an infringement of sovereignty to set up a branch office of the police in a foreign country to carry out investigations and crackdowns without the consent of the establishment-country. A dozen countries, including Europe, therefore have launched investigations.
ON the other hand, Tokyo conveyed its concerns to Beijing, but it has yet revealed whether or not its investigation is underway.

Prof. Yang Haiying, who served as a lecturer at the meeting of the JDI, appealed that "[Concern] by Tokyo is not enough. I request (Tokyo) to crack down it ASAP."
