１月７日朝。
長崎港から約19キロメートルの沖合にある端島（軍艦島）に８人の元島民が上陸した。
一時雨との予報も出ていたが、空は晴れ上がり、波もほとんどなく、“里帰り”を歓迎しているかのようだった。　　
「死ぬ気で来たよ」
宮崎県在住の元坑内員で朝鮮半島出身者や中国人とも働いた松本栄（88）は冗談を言いながら、娘たちに脇を抱えられながらゆっくり下船すると、眼前に広がる
風景に目を細めた。　
軍艦島は面積約６万３千平方メートル。
南北に約４８０メートル、東西に約１６０メートル、周囲約1200メートルという東京ドームの約1.3個分ほどの大きさの島だ。
最初の竪坑建設に着手した1869（明治２）年から、1974（昭和49）年に閉山するまで多くの人が生活した。
最盛期の人口は約5300人。
小さい島の限られた空間を埋めるように日本初の鉄筋コンクリート造りの高層アパートが建設された。
当時の東京の人口密度の９倍だったという。　
閉山から43年。
建物の多くは朽ち、崩壊していた。
松本は「この辺には何かあったかな」と、時折つぶやきながらゆっくりと島内を歩いた。　
松本がほかの元島民らとともに立ち止まった場所があった。
かつて中国人労働者が生活していた建物があったという場所の前だ。
いまは空き地になっている。　
一緒に勉強した　　
「中国人は１００人ぐらいしかいなかった」　
「ここに２００人の中国人が入る家屋があったというが、そんなに多くの人は入らないよ」　「１部屋に入るのはせいぜい10人ぐらいだった」　
中国人労働者を閉じ込めるために有刺鉄線が敷かれていたという話もあるが、松本は「有刺鉄線はなかった」と話す。　
朝鮮半島出身者の子供は日本人の子供と同じように学校に通い、机を並べて勉強した。
アパート内には朝鮮半島から来た家族も多く入居していたという。　
そのうち、元島民の一人が島の上にある真っ白な灯台を指さした。　　
「戦前、端島は不夜城のように明るかったから灯台なんて必要なかった」　
だが、韓国で出版された児童用絵本『軍艦島―恥ずかしい世界文化遺産』には、灯台から３本の光を発している絵が描かれている。
「絵本は明らかに事実と違う」と元島民たちは口々に反論した。

虚偽と誇張横行　
端島を訪問した元島民たちは長崎市内のホテルでほかの元島民らと合流し会合を開いた。
｢真実伝える｣団体先月設立
出席者からは故郷である端島が国内外にゆがめて伝えられていることへの憤りの声が相次いだ。　　
「端島について書かれた本を読むと端島が（ナチス・ドイツによる）アウシュビッツ収容所と同一だと書いてあり、頭にきた。本に書いてある嘘を暴いて、これが真実であると国内外に言わなければいけない」
「朝鮮人労働者が虐待されたという話ばかり。欺瞞と虚偽と誇張に塗り込まれた記事が横行していることに憤りを感じる」　　
「日本は事実を明確にして反論しなければいけない。慰安婦問題もそうだが、日本は事なかれ主義できたが、もう少し毅然と事実を明らかにして言うべきことは言うという姿勢で臨んでいきたい」　　
「韓国では端島を『監獄島』『地獄島』と言っているそうだが、われわれはそんなところに住んだ覚えはない。日本で重い罪を犯して無期懲役を受けた者が軍艦島に来ていると書かれているが、私たちは違う」　
真実を伝えるには、端島で生まれ育った自分たちが口を開くしかない。
こうした思いに突き動かされた元島民たちは「真実の歴史を追求する端島島民の会」を１月23日に設立した。　
当時のことを記憶する元島民たちの証言を動画で記録するなどして、後世に「正しい端島の歴史」を伝える考えだ。　
炭鉱労働者たちの証言記録を集めている内閣宣房参与の加藤康子は会合で「みなさんの一次証言や一次資料が何よりも一番重要な真実を語る。
それをそのままの形で残していきたい」と述べ、元島民や家族に協力を求めた。

I was surprised to see a poster advertising the weekly magazine Shinchō hanging in the subway yesterday.
"Oh no, another week has gone by already?"
I immediately bought a copy and read it at Starbucks, and this week's issue also proves beyond doubt that Takayama Masayuki is the only journalist in the post-war world.
The following is from his famous "Henken Jizai" column that concludes the issue.
The emphasis in the text other than the headings is mine.

It's under the old name.
After the execution of the cult leader, Shoko Asahara, an ex-Asahi Shimbun reporter who is now living in retirement, wrote a column reminiscent of a memoir under the heading "The Darkness of the Outbreak: Are We Unrelated?
In it, he ponders the disciples who "worshipped their arrogant leader as a god and were executed along with him after being accused of their crimes for playing the role of his vanguard."
The disciples "stopped thinking at all and believed that the instructions of their god were absolute, and they stopped questioning them, too, in that cramped group that was like a pre-war militaristic nation."
It's like the soul of a triplet, or perhaps it's like a curse, but even after they quit being journalists, they still talk about the dark history of the pre-war period.
It's a sad state of affairs, but the article continues to discuss the roughness of the disciples' hearts, using three sets of adjectival phrases to describe it: "the mental devastation of trying to force down those who don't agree with them by force, the regression of democracy, the fading of memories of war..."
His writing made me feel like I had seen it before.
When I looked again at the name of the reporter who wrote it, I saw it was "Kenichi Furuhata."
Yes, about 30 years ago, there was a time when the Asahi Shimbun loved to lecture stupid Japanese people.
It was similar to the Sermon on the Mount, but unlike Jesus, there was no truth at all in what he said.
The Japanese army killed 300,000 people in Nanjing. Not a single piece of bone has been found, but they say we should face up to our brutality.
There is also the "Iriomote coral" fable.
A photographer from Asahi News found the graffiti "KY" written on the world's most significant and most valuable thistle coral.
Japan's seas and mountains are now overflowing with tourists from China and Korea.
The Zao Juhyo (frost-covered trees) and the bamboo groves of Kyoto's Sagano are covered in unsightly graffiti in Hangul and simplified Chinese characters.
However, when graffiti was found on the coral, Asahi did not hesitate to conclude that the culprit was a Japanese person.
It was because Honda Yoshiro, the photographer who carved it, pretended to be the person who had discovered it.
On top of this, a lecture for the Japanese people was included with the photograph.
"The Japanese people may be the world's foremost nation when it comes to graffiti," a people with a spirit so impoverished and a heart so sordid that they have no shame in instantly damaging something that has taken a hundred years to nurture...' It was a three-part tirade of contempt.
The article shows the author's habits.
It's like a fingerprint.
Furuhata was identified as the author, but this malicious false report only resulted in the dismissal of the photographer, Honda, and the company president, Hitotsuyanagi Toichiro.
Furuhata insulted the Japanese people with false information, but he ran away without apologizing.
Before showing off his three-part writing style with a smug air, he should have apologized first.
Then, another liar-OB appeared to chase him.
It was Keiji Takeuchi who was appointed as an anti-nuclear power activist.
After 3/11, he wrote that "the gas release valve for the nuclear reactor was not installed in Japan because there was no risk of a nuclear meltdown. This valve, introduced under pressure from overseas, is our lifeline."
He writes that the reactor was made in Japan but was made by the US company GE.
The argument that "the release valve is not necessary" was made by GE, and the Japanese side installed it later.
Takeuchi worships white people, and he disregarded the responsibility of the white company GE, and he pushed all the responsibility onto TEPCO.
This man took away the plutonium (Pu) that Japan had been storing.
He asked why Japan had 47 tons of nuclear weapons material.
He even suggests that Japan should pay to have someone else take it away.
Japan has faced national crises on numerous occasions due to energy shortages.
As a result, it has established a nuclear fuel cycle using plutonium and has been working to ensure a stable energy supply.
Asahi is not happy about this.
It has instilled a nuclear allergy in the Japanese people, and is even trying to shut down nuclear power plants.
It argues that it is unacceptable for Japan to possess such a large amount of nuclear weapons material, but Takeuchi also writes lies here.
The plutonium we have on hand is from spent fuel from light water reactors, and most of it does not undergo nuclear fission.
The fact is that it cannot be used to make nuclear weapons.
If you want to make nuclear weapons, you have to burn them in a graphite-moderated reactor, not a light water reactor, as North Korea is doing.
While still working, his company motto was "Write lies."

降幡は日本人を偽りのネタで侮辱したくせに謝罪もせずに逃げてしまった。

昨日地下鉄で週刊新潮の車内吊り広告を見て驚いた。
「えっ、もう一週間が過ぎたのか」
早速購入しスタバで読んだのだが、今週号も高山正之は戦後の世界で唯一無二のジャーナリストである事を遺憾なく証明している。
以下は掉尾を飾る彼の名物コラム「変見自在」からである。
見出し以外の文中強調は私。

昔の名前で出ています
教祖麻原彰晃の刑が執行されたあと朝日新聞に「暴走の闇、私たちと無縁か」の見出しで今は隠居暮らしのＯＢ記者が追想録風のコラムを書いていた。
中で「驕慢な支配者を神と崇め、その先兵の役割を果たして罪を問われ道連れ死刑にされた弟子たち」に思いを馳せる。
弟子たちはあのとき「戦前の軍国主義国家のような狭苦しい集団にあって、一切の思考を止め、神の指示を絶対と信じ、疑うこともやめていた」と続く。
三つ子の魂というか、記者をやめても呪縛のように戦前暗黒史観で語る。
悲しい性を見る思いだが、それに続けて「自分たちの気に入らぬ者は力でねじ伏せようとする精神の荒廃、民主主義の後退、戦争の記憶の風化……」と三段重ねの形容詞句で弟子の心の荒みを語っている。
その書き方に既視感を覚えた。
改めてＯＢ記者の名を見たら「降幡賢一」とあった。
そう。今から30年前になるか、朝日新聞は馬鹿な日本人に説教を垂れるのが大好きな時代があった。　
イエスの山上の垂訓に似るが、イエスと違って語る内容に真実は一切ない。
日本軍は南京で30万人も殺した。遺骨の一片も出てこないけれど己の残忍さを直視せよとか。
それと「西表の珊瑚」訓話がある。
朝日のカメラマンが濳ったら世界最大級の貴重なアザミ珊瑚に「ＫＹ」の落書きがあった。
今、日本の海山は支那朝鮮人の観光客で溢れる。
蔵王の樹氷や京都の嵯峨野の竹林は見苦しいハングルや簡体字のいたずら書きで埋められる。
でも珊瑚に落書きが見つかったとき朝日は躊躇いなく「犯人は日本人」と断定した。
なぜなら彫ったのが発見者を装った本田嘉郎カメラマンだったからだ。
その上で日本人に向けた説教話が写真に添えられた。
「日本人は落書きにかけては世界に冠たる民族かもしれない」「百年単位で育ってきたものを瞬時に傷つけて恥じない、精神の貧しさの、すさんだ心の……」見事なほどの嘲りの三段重ねだ。
記事には執筆者の癖が出る。
指紋みたいなものだ。
それで降幡が筆者と分かつたが、この悪意ある虚報では本田カメラマンと社長の一柳東一郎のクビを飛ばしただけで終った。
降幡は日本人を偽りのネタで侮辱したくせに謝罪もせずに逃げてしまった。
ＯＢ面して三段重ねの筆法を得々と披露する前にまず昔の謝罪が先だろが。
そしたら追いかけるようにもう一人の嘘つきＯＢが登場した。
反原発を任じてきた竹内敬二だ。
彼は３・１１のあと原子炉のガス放出弁は「日本では炉心溶融が起きないからと取り付けなかった。海外の動きに押されて導入したこの弁が今は命綱になっている」と書いた。
あたかも原子炉は日本製のように書くが、実際は米ＧＥ社製。
「放出弁は要らない」はＧＥの言い分で、日本側があとで取り付けた。　
竹内は白人を崇拝し、白人の会社ＧＥ社の責任に目をつぶって、東電にすべての責任を押し付けた。
そんな男が今回は日本が貯め込んだプルトニウム（Pu）を取り上げた。　
核兵器材料をなぜ47トンも持つのかと詰（なじ）る。
いっそカネを払ってでもどこかに引き取ってもらえと。
日本はエネルギー不足で何度も国難に遭った。
それでPuによる核燃料サイクルを整えエネルギーの安定供給を考えてきた。
朝日はそれが気に食わない。
国民に核アレルギーを植え付け原発すら潰しにかかっている。
まして核兵器材料の大量保有など許せないという主張だが、竹内はここでも嘘を書く。
いま手持ちのPuは軽水炉の使用済み燃料からのもので大半は核分裂しない。
核兵器にはならないのが事実だ。
核兵器にするなら北朝鮮がやっているように軽水炉でなく黒鉛減速型原子炉で燃やさねばならない。　
現役のときは嘘を書けが社是だった。
ＯＢになってもその癖が抜けないとしたら何とも哀れではないか。

An essay by Iha Fuyu, the father of Okinawan studies, includes a section entitled "The Greatest Flaw of the Okinawans" (1909, included in "Koryuukyuu" (Ancient Ryukyu), Iwanami Bunko, 2000).
Iha points out that "the Okinawans are prone to forget their gratitude" and says, "This is probably due to their circumstances over the past several hundred years."
The phrase "prone to forget their gratitude" here means they will follow whoever is strong then and easily betray those they were following.
Iha shows how, when the Chinese dynasties changed, the Ryukyu Kingdom's envoys brought two sets of memorial letters to the Qing and Ming emperors to be flexible with either.
China is currently using its official media to claim that "We will recover Ryukyu and liberate Okinawa" (i.e., we will recover Ryukyu, which was part of China's territory, and liberate Okinawa from Japan).
China has almost completely taken control of the lower half of the South China Sea, which is the area enclosed by the First Island Chain (a military line that starts from Kyushu and runs through Okinawa, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Borneo to enclose the entire South China Sea), by reclaiming reefs and building military bases on them. 
It is also extending its reach into the East China Sea, which includes Okinawa, in the upper half of the First Island Chain.
It is reported that the Chinese Navy plans to expand its landing force (marines)—which is responsible for landing in front of the enemy—three times in two years (US State Department annual report).
It is also due to China's machinations since the Kuomintang era. 
Still, in Okinawa, too, the "indigenous people theory" that some people are a different race from the mainland is spreading, and Governor Onaga has also jumped on board.

We must recognize that this essay was written assuming that Okinawa and the mainland are the same in terms of race, language, customs, and habits.
In fact, in another essay, Iha states that "it is necessary to mention that Okinawans share the same ancestors as people from other prefectures" and "I would like people to understand that Okinawans today are the descendants of those who colonized the southern islands from parts of Kyushu in the years before Christ," he also states that "the Okinawans who were trading with Ming China were actively importing their systems and culture, but the Okinawans of that time were in fact Japanese people disguised as Chinese people" (Ryukyu History Trends, 1907, included in "Old Ryukyu").
Iha, who majored in linguistics at Tokyo Imperial University, demonstrated that the languages, peoples, cultures, and customs of Okinawa and the mainland were of the same lineage.
These form the basis of Okinawan studies today.
The background to the unfortunate relationship between Okinawa and the mainland cannot be explained simply by the concentration of US military bases in Japan or the large number of casualties in the Battle of Okinawa.
There is also a historical perception based on misunderstanding.
I want to assume the ideas of Iha Fuyu.

シベリア出兵（何の事だ）日本も加害者だ、として、日本との国際条約を破って戦争直前に対日参戦したソ連の行状と大量の日本人を奴隷としてシベリアに抑留した態様とを、同列に置こうとする頭脳とは！
NHKの報道・編集部を支配している人間達は、一体、どこの国の人間なのだ！
これが日本国営放送だって…日本人としてこれほど恥ずかしい事はないし、この点において、日本国政府は、世界一の愚か者の集団である。

沖縄の知事選挙の結果について、それこそ欣喜雀躍したのが中国と朝鮮半島だろう。
沖縄については後日に語るとして、この章では月刊誌正論今月号に、今こそ｢沖縄学の父｣に学べ、と題して掲載された八木秀次氏の労作をご紹介する。
日本国民と世界中の人が知らなければならない真実である。

沖縄の将来が心配だ。沖縄県知事選挙のことだ。
今回の選挙は翁長雄志知事の「弔い合戦」の性格が強い。
後継指名されたとされる玉城デニー氏が当選すれば、翁長県政の継承となる。
県は、在日米軍普天間基地の移転をめぐって辺野古沖での工事許可を撤回し、政府と対立関係にある。
影響は日米関係に及ぶ。
「沖縄学」の父、伊波普猶のエッセーに「沖縄人の最大欠点」（明治42年、『古琉球』岩波文庫、2000年所収）というものがある。
そこで伊波は「恩を忘れ易いという事である」と指摘し、「これは数百年来の境遇が然らしめたのであろう」と述べている。
ここにある「恩を忘れ昜い」とは、その時々の強い者に従い、それ以前に従っていた者を簡単に裏切るというほどの意味だ。
伊波は具体例として、かつて朝貢していた中国の王朝交代に当たって、琉球国の使節は清帝と明帝に奉る二通りの上表文を持参し、どちらにも融通がきくようにしていたことを挙げている。　
中国は現在、官製メディアを使って「回収琉球、解放沖縄」（＝中国の版図であった琉球を回収し、沖縄を日本から解放する）と主張させている。
突破すべく目標を立てている「第一列島線」（＝九州を起点に沖縄、台湾、フィリピン、ボルネオ島を経て南シナ海全体を囲む軍事ライン）の下半分の南シナ海を、岩礁を埋め立てた軍事基地でほぼ掌中に収め、上半分の沖縄を含む東シナ海にも食指を伸ばしている。
中国海軍は、敵前上陸などを担う陸戦隊（海兵隊）を２年後は３倍まで拡大する計画だとされる（米国務省年次報告）。
また、国民党時代以来の中国の謀略工作によるものらしいが、沖縄でも一部では本土とは異なる民族であるとする「先住民族論」が広まり、翁長知事も乗っかった。
その延長で「琉球独立論」も高まりつつある。
中国はさらに、夥しい数の犠牲者を出した沖縄戰を日本軍による「琉球大虐殺事件」であると煽ってもいる。
沖縄の世論は次第に中国の引力に引き付けられつつある。
翁長知事は「イデオロギーよりアイデンティティー」と述べ、沖縄世論を引き付けた。
玉城氏も選挙戰でそう訴えた。
保守・革新のイデオロギーを超えて「沖縄人」としてのアイデンティティーで纏まろうということで、翁長氏を支持してきた「オール沖縄」の基本的な考え方でもある。
しかし、ここで言う「アイデンティティー」とは、先述の沖縄は本土とは異なるとする「先住民族論」や「琉球独立論」の別表現でしかない。
沖縄は米軍基地を本土から押し付けられて差別されている、「ウチナンチュー」は「ヤマトンチュー」に差別されているとする「本質的差別論」が背景にある。
しかし、前掲の伊波は「沖縄人の最大欠点」というエッセーの冒頭、「沖縄人の最大欠点は人種が違うということでもない。言語が違うという事でもない。風俗が違うということでもない。習慣が違うということでもない」と指摘した上で、「沖縄人の最大欠点は恩を忘れ易いという事である」と述べている。
沖縄と本土は人種も言語も風俗も習慣も同じであるという前提でこのエッセーを書いていることを見落としてはならない。
実際、伊波は他のエッセーで「沖縄人が他府県人と祖先を同じうするという事を述べる必要があります」「今日の沖縄人は紀元前に九州の一部から南島に植民した者の子孫であるという事だけでも承知してもらいたい」とし、明と交易していた沖縄人は盛んにその制度文物を輸入したが、「当時の沖縄人はやがて、支那人に扮した日本人であったのである」とも述べている（「琉球史の趨勢」明治40年、『古琉球』所収）。
東京帝国大学で言語学を専攻した伊波は、言語も民族も文化も風俗も、沖縄と本土は同系統であることを論証している。
これらは今日の沖縄学の基礎になっている。
沖縄と本土との不幸な関係の背景は、在日米軍基地の集中や沖縄戦での夥しい数の犠牲だけでは語れない。
誤解に基づく歴史認識もある。
伊波普猶の考えを前提にしたい。
