bevy

"bevy" この単語はジュニア小説の"Seventh-Grade Rumors"か"THAT CERTAIN FEELING"のどちらかにあったと思うのですが、うっかりして原文のメモを忘れました。しかし、簡単な単語で使われ方も面白いので直ぐに覚えられそうです。
ロングマン英英辞書: a large group of people of the same type, especially girls or young women; a limousine surrounded by a bevy of screaming teenagers

日本語では人・物・動物の数え方が色々あるが英語はone, two, three...だけなので簡単と言うのは早急。flock of, group of, team of, party ofそしてbevy ofなどなど、とにかく同意語が多い言語だと思います。
この原稿を書いた（ブログの原稿のほとんどは週末にまとめて書いています）数日後のApr 9付のasahi.com 一口メモでも今回の "a bevy of" と同様な語法を話題にしていました。以下は一口メモからの引用です。

私としては、もし囲まれるなら "a phalanx of reporters" より "a bevy of beauties"　の方がいいのですが。
