> 海保によると、訓練は京都・舞鶴から北方にある日本の領海外で、船舶同士が衝突して火災が発生したと想定。
> ３機関の巡視船や航空機を使い、情報共有や捜索区域を設定し、人形を漂流者に見立てて救助などを行う。
On May 23, the Japan Coast Guard released to conduct the first joint training exercise with U.S. Coast Guard and S. Korean Coast Guard off the coast of the Sea of Japan on July 6.
This is an initiative in response to an argreement by the three institution for upgrade of the cooperation.
According to the JCG, the drill assumed a collision between ships and a fire breakouts outside of the Japan's territorial waters north of Maizuru City, Kyoto Pref.
Using patrol boats and aircraft from three institutions, information sharing and search areas will be established, and rescue operations will be carried out using doll(s) as castaway(s).

On May 9, the three agencies signed a document confirming the strengthening of cooperation at a U.S. Coast Guard base.
They agreed to support Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands countires to improve their maritime security capabilities in areas such as countering illegal fishing and search & rescue.
It seems that they have countermeasures to China in mind.
