これを書いているのは6月7日の金曜日なんですが、今週は良いお天気の日が結構ありました。
I'm writing this on Friday, June 6th and the weather was very nice this week.
なので、Hit-chanの運動不足解消も兼ねて、めいと外にお散歩にでかける日も多く気分も晴れ晴れしております。
So, I could take out May-cha for walk and my exercise more often than usual, and it made me feel more refreshed too.
さて、タイトルにあるんですが、5月19日にようやくちゃんとしたベビーベッドを組み立てて使い始めました。
Speaking of the title today, May-chan finally started using a real crib on May 19th.
我が家のベビーベッドの話は長くなるんですが、紆余曲折ありました。
Oh well, it's going to take long to talk about our crib history, but let me do it here today.
まず、めいが生まれるずっと前にAndyっちが会社の同僚の方からお下がりでいただいたベビーベッドがありました。
First off, we took over a crib from Andy's co-worker way before May-chan was born.
めいの部屋を準備する時に、こちらのベッドも組み立てて準備しておりました。
So, we built it when we're getting one of the bedrooms in the basement ready for welcoming May-chan.

この記事にも書いてあるんですが、このベッド、組み立てた後はドアより大きくなってしまったので、この部屋から運びだせないという問題が発生！(笑)
As the article says, we found out that we couldn't carry the crib out from the room since the crib was bigger than the do AFTER we finished putting them together.
それに、Hit-chanは最初、めいの部屋で一緒に寝てお世話をしようと思っていたんですが、Andyっちが最低でも最初の1ヶ月は一緒の部屋で眠りたいという希望がありました。
Besides that, I was originally planning to sleep in May-chan's room with her, but Andy wanted to sleep in the same room with her for the 1st month at least.
なので、いただいたベビーベッドを少し解体してAndyっちとHit-chanが寝ているマスターベッドルームに運び込む事もできたんですが、このブログの読者の方から重要な情報を教えていただいたんです。
So, we were thinking to take the crib apart a little bit so that we could move it in our master bedroom, but I heard a very important information from one of my blog fans. (Thank you so much!)
その情報と言うのが、同僚の方からいただいたベビーベッドもそうなんですが、手前の柵の部分が上げ下げできるタイプのベビーベッドに関する事故でした。
The information is that a type of crib with a droppable side rail had been recalled for the danger of baby's injury.
事故の詳細はこんな風に、赤ちゃんが柵とマットレスの間に挟まってしまうというものです。（画像拝借元）
The accident is like this, and a baby can happen to get stuck between the side rail and the mattress.
なので、このタイプのベビーベッドは2011年6月28日以前に作られたベッドは販売＆使用禁止になりました。
So, they changed the federal safety standard on June 28th in 2011 and say that cribs manufactured before that date should not be bought, sold, or used.
いやぁ、本当にこのブログをやっていて良かったぁ。めいが生まれる前にお下がりベッドの危険性を教えていただけました。
Oh my, this is one of the best things that I can get through writing my blog. Thanks to the very kind fan, I could learn such an important information before May-chan was born.
で、折角同僚の方から頂いたベッドだったんですが、使えないので、その後すぐに新しいベビーベッドを購入しました。
I really appreciate Andy's co-worker for kindly giving us his crib, but we purchased a new crib shortly.
が、家に届いた後、箱も開けずについ最近の5月19日まで放置していました。（爆）
We received a big package of the crib a while ago but hadn't even opened the box until May 19th.
というのも、めいが生まれてから5月19日までこれを使ってました。
Well, if I would make a few excuses for taking us so long to start using the crib, one is because May-chan was using this until May 19th.
Pack and play。こんな感じの折りたたんで持ち運びできる簡易ベッドです。（画像拝借元）
ベビーベッドを組み立てずにずーっと放っておいた理由に、めいは生まれてからしばらくはこの簡易ベッドで全然寝てくれなかったんです。
Plus, she didn't sleep well in the pack n' play for a while since she was born.
なので、「どうせ、ベビーベッド組み立てても寝てくれないしなぁ。」と思ってたんですねぇ。
So, I was thinking, "Oh well, she's not gonna sleep in it even if we built it anyways."
その後、3ヶ月くらいからこの簡易ベッドでも眠れるようになったんですが、最近になって、めいが寝ている間に大きく足を振り上げてマットに叩きつけるという動作を頻繁にするようになったんですが、この簡易ベッドのマットが薄くて固いので、その時の音が結構大きかったんです。
After that, she started being able to sleep in the pack n' play around when she's 3months old, but there's another problem coming up recently. The problem is that May-chan makes loud noises because she swings up her feet and bangs down them on the thin and hard mattress while she sleeps.
眠りの浅いAndyっちはその音でしょっちゅう起こされ、眠りの深いHit-chanでも気になるようになりました。
Andy's very sensitive about noise during his sleep, so May-chan's noise made him wake up very frequently. Even, I, a deep sleeper, started getting bothered by the loud noise too.
それに、めいにとってもこの固いマットだと寝心地があまり良さそうでなかったので、先日ようやくAndyっちがずっと放置されていた箱を開封して組み立ててくれました。
What's more is that May-chan didn't look so comfortable on the hard mattress, so Andy finally opened the big box and assembled the crib the other day.
実はAndyっち、こういうものを進んで組み立ててはくれるんですが、十中八九、組み立て中にイライラして不機嫌になるんですよねぇ。
Oh well, Andy's always willing to do these assembling things but gets very irritated during the procedures most of the time.
原因は説明書の説明の仕方。
The reason is the instructions.
なので、Hit-chan、「多分、今回も不機嫌になるんだろうなぁ。」と思っていたんですが、違いました！
Honestly, I was thinking, "He's probably gonna be crabby this time again....", but it was not true!!!
このベビーベッドはDelta Childrenという会社のものなんですが、ここの説明書が素晴らしかった！
We bought Delta Children's crib, and their instruction was amazing!!
いつもはイライラしてしまうAndyっちも、「この説明書は最高！会社にメールで感謝を伝えようかな。」というくらい感動していました。
Andy was super impressed by their instruction and even said, "I might wanna send them an email!".
めいも自分のベッドの完成を待ちわびております。（多分、笑）
May-chan was very excited and waiting for her new bed. (Or not? Haha)
この簡易ベッドはこの先旅行する時に使います。
We're still going to use this pack n' play when we travel.

柵に付いているピンクのカバーは別売りの他の会社のもので、これはHit-chanが取り付けました。
We bought the pink cover at Target to protect May-chan from an accident and I installed it around the sides.
初寝転び～。マットが今までのものの数倍柔らかいので、めいも気に入ったようです。
First time lying!! The mattress is some times softer than the old one, and May-chan seemed to like it too.
基本的に、アメリカではベビーベッドの中には何も入れないように言われているので、上の写真でめいが着ている、「着られる毛布」なるものを買いました。
Basically, you can't put anything in the crib in the states, so I bought a coupe of wearable blankets on Amazon which May-chan wore in the picture above.

This is it.
上のものと、これの2種類を購入して着まわしています。今の所2着で十分です。（画像拝借元）
I also bought this one. So far, 2 blankets are enough.
6ヶ月になっためい、今まで毎日7時にベッドに行って、途中夜中に一度目を覚ましてミルクを飲んでいたんですが、ここ最近は7時から翌朝の5時から6時くらいまで通して眠れるようになりました！
6month-old May-chan usually goes to bed around 7pm everyday, and what a joy! She used to wake up in the middle of night and have milk but now can sleep through from 7pm to 5-6am in the next morning now!!!
色々な要素が合わさって眠れるようになったと思うのですが、このベビーベッドにしたのも大きく影響していると思います。
I assume that there are some facts to make her be able to sleep through night, but the new crib is definitely one of them.
いやぁ、朝まで通して寝てくれるのは本当に有難いです。
I'm super happy that she sleeps through almost an entire night.
お陰でHit-chanも日中より活動的に動けるようになりました。
Thanks to me being able to sleep more, I can be more active during day too.
まぁ、そんな訳で、我が家のベビーベッドヒストリー、これで一件落着となりました。
Okay, this is all about our crib history, and we could end it very happily.
