さて、ミネソタに戻ってから、もうすぐ1か月が経ちますが、先日久々に、
So, it's almost a month from when I came back to MN and the other day,
「あ～、ミネソタにも夏が来たなぁ。」
"Oh, summer is here in MN this year too!"
と感じる事がありました。
I felt that way.
その日、メモリアルデーで夕方、Hit-chanはリビングのソファでダラダラしていたのです。
In the afternoon on Memorial day, I was being lazy on the couch.
そしたら、いきなり家中の電気がバチッて消えちゃったんですよ。
Then, all the lights in the houst suddenly got shut off!
で、その時Andyっちは、タバコを吸うのに玄関のドアを出て佇んでたんですが、
At the moment, Andy was standing right outside of the front door to smoke a cigarette.
「今、家の前にある電信柱についてるヒューズボックスがショートした！！」
"I just saw the fuse box blown up!!!"
と、興奮した様子で家の中に戻ってきました。
He came back inside the house so excited.
もちろん電気会社にすぐに連絡して、修理に来てくれるまで待つことに。。。
Of course, he called the electric company right away and asked them to come to fix it.
その間、電気が使えないので。。。
In the meantime, we couldn't use any epectricity, so...
Andyっちが持っていたDIY用のライトを使って。。。
Andy turned on his light.
そう、夫婦二人でポーカーをして遊びました。(笑)
And we started playing cards. Haha.
これ、我が家の近くだけかもしれないけど、夏になると停電がめちゃくちゃ多いんですよ。
This might be only in our neightborhood, but we get lots of blackouts in summer!!
日本と同様、ミネソタも夏になると嵐とか竜巻が発生するんですが、それに伴って木の枝が電線に引っかかったりして、よく停電になるのです。
Just like summer in Japan, a lot of storms and tornados happen in summer here. Due to that, fallen tree branches sometimes cut electric cables or something and cause so many blackouts.
そして、我が家のある地域は家の件数が少なくて、いつも修理は後の方に回されてしまうし、中々新しい電線？に変えてもらえないんですねぇ。
In our area, there are not so many houses sharing the same electric line, so we are always the last section of the waiting list and have to wait long for the electric company to repair the line. For the same reason, they don't replace it with a new one either.
この日も、いつ来てくれるか分からなく、待っている間にAndyっちお腹がペコペコになっちゃいました。
On this day, we didn't know how long it would take for them to come and fix it and while we're waiting, Andy got so hungry.
なので、ステーキを焼く事に。
So, he started grilling steak.
まぁ、もともとステーキをディナーにする予定だったんですが、BBQだと停電でも無問題！
He was originally planning to eat steak that night, but it worked out well even when we got a blackout! Yeah, BBQ doesn't need electricity!
ステーキで良かったね！
It was lucky!!
で、Andyっちがステーキを焼いている時に、思ったより早く修理のトラックが来てくれまして。。。
While Andy was cooking the steak, we saw truck from the electric company passing by our house.
ただ、何故か通り過ぎて行って、同じ道を行ったり来たりしていたので。。。
Though, they just passed by and kept coming and going on the same street.
Andyっち、トラックが戻ってきたら修理箇所を教えてあげようとスタンバイ。
So, Andy's standing and waiting to tell them where the fuse box is.
その様子がちょっと可愛くて写真を撮ってたら、こっちに気づいて手を振ってくれた。(笑)
He looked kind of cute and I sneaked to take a pic of it. Then, he noticed and kindly waved me.
その後、無事電気も戻りまして、いつもの我が家になりました。
In 30 mins or so after they started fixing it, we got all the lights and our normal home back.
後日談。。。
Some days later...
この記事は1週間ほど前に書いたんですが、その後、長いのと一瞬のも含めて計5回くらい停電になりました。（怒）
I actually wrote this article a week ago or so, but since then, we've got blackout about 5 times.
昨日なんて、一日に3回（1時間1回、一瞬2回）も停電になって、さすがに何かおかしいだろうと、Andyっち、電気会社にメールと電話の両方で苦情を入れてくれました。
We got blackout 3 times a day yesterday (1 for one hour and 2 for a moment) and this is really wrong. So, Andy sent the electric company an email and also made a phone call too.
電話口のお姉さん曰く、それはさすがに何かおかしいので調査をしてくれるそうなのですが、今後も停電がある度にネット等で電気会社に報告した方が良いとの事です。
The lady on the phone said that it's ovbiously something wrong, so they're going to send somebody to investigate it sometime. She also said that we should make a report to them for every single blackout anyways.
そうする事で、電気会社のシステムにもちゃんと記録が残るからだそうです。
Then, they can keep the records in their system.
早く原因究明をしてくれる事を祈るのみです！
I really hope they're going to figure it out and fix it soon!
ただ、停電はもうちょっと少なくしておくれ～！！！
Please no more blackout!!!
