Linux/UbuntuをAtomで使う(4)

「Linux/UbuntuをAtomで使う(4)」では、引き続き、Linux/UbuntuをAtom CPUのPCで動かしている様子を紹介します。

「Linux/UbuntuをAtomで使う(2)」で、Atom 230がDual CPUに見えている旨紹介しました。仕様を調べてみると、このAtom 230 CPUはHyperThreadingを備えています。



IntelによるAtom CPUシリーズの紹介へ

ですので、Atom 230 CPUはLinux/Ubuntuから二つ見えてもコアは一つです。Atom 230の上位機種のAtom 330は、コアを二つ備えています。

Atomシリーズは、低消費電力設計のシリーズで、いわゆる燃費の良いエンジンです。PCの低電力化と、低電力PCの普及が進めば、PC関連の電力消費は大きく削減されます。Atom PCなど低消費電力CPUは環境にも優しいPCを実現します。Intelと競合のCPUメーカーAMDは低消費電力CPUをIntelより早く提供を開始しました。
