ビリー・エリオット （Billy Elliot）

今回の欧州訪問は忙しかったのですが、なんとか時間を見つけて、
大好きなミュージカル鑑賞へ行って来ました。

観たのは、以前、ロンドンを訪れた際にも気になっており、
原作の映画（リトル・ダンサー）を観たこともあった、
「ビリー・エリオット」です。

＊トニー賞を１０部門も獲得した作品だそうです。

内容は、田舎の炭坑夫の息子であるビリーが、ふとしたことからバレエに目覚め、
ロンドンのロイヤル・バレエ・アカデミーの試験を受けるまでになる、という
ものですが、映画と異なりコメディ要素もふんだんで、映画以上にほろっと
させるシーンもあり、歌、踊り、ドラマ性とかなり楽しめました♪

ＮＹにも輸出されているので、ロンドン/ニューヨークに訪れた際は是非ご鑑賞あれ！

I love watching musicals.
Now that I was in London, so I managed to find the time to watch
"Billy Elliot," the tony award musical origineted in London.

I know it originates in the movie "Little Dancer,"
so was very excited to have a chance to watch it in London!

It was about the boy who was the son of miner in local city in the UK;
the boy happens to find his talent as a ballet dancer and tries to
enter the Royal Ballet Academy in London.

The original movie was really great and this musical was as good as
or even better than the movie, making me laugh, fun, and moved.

It was exported to the Broadway in NY, so if you can visit London/NY,
please try to watch it.

グラン・プラス （Grand Place in Brussels）

最近少し忙しく、このブログも更新できない日々が続いてますが、
先日、欧州を訪問しているので遅くなりましたが御報告。

訪問したのはロンドンとブラッセルズです。
グラン・プラスは久しぶりの訪問でしたが、
昔と変わらない（当たり前ですが）感じがとてもいいですね。

オープンテラスで朝食を食べていると、日本での暮らしは
なんだか人生を損している気がしてなりませんでした・・・（苦笑）

So busy these days that I couldn't update my blog.
Now that I have things to report, visiting Europe, so will give you some updates.

I visited London and Brussels this time.
Grand Place (pic) has been, of course, the same as it was.
Never been there for two or three years or so,
but I like the atmosphere it has.

When I was sitting outside at the cafe for a breakfast,
I strongly felt that I should live in that way, comparing it with my life in Japan...

リニアモーターカー （Maglev）

行くまで知らなかったのですが、上海では既にリニアが走ってます。
空港へのアクセスで実用化されているのですが、
最高時速はなんと430km/h！（社内で見れます）

実感としては・・・新幹線よりは早いかな？（笑）

Never known there was liner motor car, Maglev, in Shanghai
from airport to city center.
Its maximum speed was 430km/h!!!
You can see and feel it in that car.

My impression was...it was definitely faster than Shinkansen.

初・上海！ （Visiting Shanghai）

先日、ひょんなことから上海を訪れる機会がありました。
訪れてみると、やはり色々気づきます。

・中心部は洗練された大都会だと思ってたが、
　まだまだ工事中の部分も多い
・上海郊外も片道４車線の高速道路などインフラ整備が
　思っていた以上に整ってきている
・タクシーの運転が荒い
・排気ガスの影響か、景色がぼやっとしている

などなど。

新聞などでは中国の台頭をよく見ますが、
やはり現場・現物を見ないと実感は湧きませんね。^^

Happened to ve in Shanghai a few days ago,
finding a lot of things I have never imagined.

- Central city was not so civilized as I imagined,
several places are still under construction.
- But outside of Shanghai was also civilized as
in central city, 4 lanes of highway were good example.
- Driving technique of taxi was rough
- Hazy probably due to auto's gases

and so on...

Often to see China's surge in newspaper,
but you've never felt real China until you visit there.

母校訪問 （Visiting the Univ. I graduated）

今日は卒業した研究室の10周年記念同窓会があり、
久しぶりにプライベートで上京してきました。

滞在時間約７時間のトンボ帰りでしたが、
懐かしい/新しい方々との交流や、紅葉も満喫でき、
いいリフレッシュになりましたね。

それにしても、修了１期生ということで
突然、乾杯の音頭をとることになったり・・・
いやはや、そんな歳なんですかね（苦笑）。

We had a 10-year anniversary party of laboratory at Univ.
So, visited Tokyo for about 7 hours today, coming back to Osaka.

I often go to Tokyo on business;but visiting privately is also nice.
Could enjoy talking with professors, friends, new comers, and so on,
also being satisfied with a nice Autumn leaves scenery.

Though I had to propose a toast suddenly, it was a fun event.
Sometimes wanna visit Tokyo privately hereafter.

高野山探訪 （Visiting Mt. Koya, the world heritage）

実は母が大阪に来ておりまして、母の希望で高野山へ。^^

金剛峯寺や壇上伽藍など、真言宗の総本山を詣でることが出来、
久しぶりにスピリチュアルな気分で楽しめました♪

それにしても、高野山を始めとする一帯は
世界遺産に登録されていることもあり、
思ったより外国人の観光客が多いこと、多いこと。
観光客への表示も英語/日本語併記だったりと、
世界遺産登録の影響力を実感してました。

To tell the truth, my mom comes to Osaka this weekend.
That's why we visited Mt.Koya area, one of the world heritage places.

We visited the kongobuji-temple and danjogaran,
the center of Japanese religion, Singonism's place.
We could feel their spiritual atmosphere since I could for a long time ago.

To my surprise, there were a lot of international people!
Maybe it's because Mt. Koya area was famous for
its honored membership of the World Heritage.
Most of the information boards are written with Japanese/English.
We, Japanese, should be proud of its worth as the histrical place.

スーパーカー祭り？ （Supercars！）

今日は天気も良かったので、京都までドライブ～♪
らーめんと温泉を満喫してきました。

で、途中の桂川ＰＡで見つけたのがこの集団。
マニアックだ・・・（自分にもつっこまれそうだ・・・）

Fine weather today made me to drive to Kyoto,
enjoying Chinese noodles and a hot spring.

On the way back to Osaka, I found these supercars at Katsuragawa parking area.
...so fanatic guys... (maybe some people say I'm one of them...)

瀬戸大橋ドライビング！ （Driving through Seto-ohashi bridge)

四国への行き帰りは、以前から渡ってみたかった瀬戸大橋を使ってみました。
四国と本州をつなぐルートは３つありますが、
その中で、しまなみ海道と瀬戸中央道の２つを今回は走破！

巨大建築物の圧倒さに、今更ながらちょっぴりと感動・・・

エボも橋をバックに映えますなぁ（笑）

Have driven through Seto ohashi bridges to go and back to/from Shikoku area.
We have three routes to get there; I used two of them,
Shimanami-kaido and Seto-chuodo.

Several years have already passed since those briedes were built;
but I was very moved to see them due to their magnificent scales.

My evolution X is really nice with that bridge its back...

道後温泉♪（Dogo spa）

連日の温泉はしごとなってしまいましたが、
昨日は道後温泉へ行ってきました♪

とりあえず、主目的の道後温泉本館へ行き、ひとっ風呂♪
時間も無く、味わった感が強いですが、雰囲気だけでも満足。

お泊りして、今日は松山城や坂之上の雲記念館などをぶらり。

いや、いい夏の思い出となりました。

Not planned to continue going hot spa, but I enjoyed to stay at Dogo spa today,
coming to Ehime prefecture after leaving Kyushu area.
Of course, I visited the histrical monument of Dogo spa with a bathing.
So hectic yesterday, but I was satisfied with its atmosphere itself.

Today, I visited Matsuyama castle, Saka no ue no kumo museum and so on.

It was really a good memory for me...

ロンドンのインド料理 （Mela in London city)

しかし、イギリスの名物料理と言えば、今や中華料理とインド料理。
ロンドンには中華街などもありますが、ザガットにも出ていたインド料理店、
「メラ」に行ってみました。

店内もスタイリッシュでなんかお洒落ですが、ここのランチは美味しくて値段が安い！
このセットが一番高いものですが、それでも6ポンド（1,200円）くらい。
パン、カレーも種類が選べて、味も洗練されている。
いやー、ここはモダン・ブリティッシュを味わうということで、
旅行者にもオススメですね。^^

Now that British cuisine is represented by Chinese and Indian one.
You can find China town in London; but I tried "Mela," the restaurant
that is rated on Zagat survey in London.

The interior is very stylish and cool; on the other hand,
lunch is very delicious and reasonable!
The dish above costs only 6 pound less, but you can choose bread types and curries.
This restaurant is really worth visiting when you are in London
to experience real London, even if you are tourists, I think.
