Introduction
In the past half century, we have become able to live conveniently due to cars and electric appliance, but still we are in dramatic progress of our life. Various equipment we use are portable, useful, but new products that the functions are increasing and complicated, so that they impose us on learning how to use. Moreover, even if we can do shopping on the Internet and manage accounts of banks, we have to take care for crime victims from such as viruses and malwares. In addition, there are fears such as eavesdropping or information leakage by e-mail or telephone, surveillance cameras are set up on shops and streets to detect what occurs wrong. We are facing with anxiety and suffering things, which we did not care about in the past at all. We have been familiar with the word “security” and the world is becoming a much complex society that we must secure our own safety. We know that our world is not so enough to live comfortably, and we have to live filling up the incomplete holes and to learn adapting newly things coming. Such things are not only for ourselves in daily life but also worldwide, we hear various stories, influenza virus mutating every epidemic to make the vaccine in time, radioactivity or air pollution spreading to world level, climate abnormalities and the impact of the earthquakes. It seems that we cannot simply predict the world hopefully in the future.
Given those background, it seems certain that everyday life and the situation in the world have become increasingly complicated. However, we have not achieved a linear advancement, but we had to correct bad things better and to throw away worst things, going back and forth and gradually progressing. Here, you cannot return to the old-styled life that you could live quietly alone or with only your family, already you have absorbed in this tangled society. In such way, I feel the similar sense with the tendency of living things that has gradually become complicated in evolution. Life may be imposed us that we are getting involved more and more complicatedly train, so that we will be able to tolerate more complexity.
I. Tendency More Complicated
Once we get accustomed to a convenient life, it will be difficult to withstand previous inconvenience. In such advanced situation, if an individual immerses in the world, that individual can only stop moving but cannot go against it. Every day life has become enjoyable around us, as Smartphone, Internet, convenient tools, and foreign tourism is close to us, so that we feel as a matter of course. We are involved in the world merely ignoring without wondering at all. It is accustomed to the complexity, and then it seems to become even more complicated from there. When involved in technological innovation and economic development, it is felt somehow that human beings are becoming more homogeneous as a whole and that it will be in the direction of gathering into bigger unit. Moreover, with the rapid progress of modern technology, much kinds of information on the Internet spread all over the world, included lie or truth becoming mixed up agreement or disagreement. The information amount is growing tremendously so that it seems to be confusing in the depth of human relations and behaviors. We feel we cannot live alone, and we have to ask anyone how to act in the complexity of the world. However, the tendency that information is increasing and knowledge is accumulating, has been is perhaps the natural trend of human beings, and may contribute to some "new things" happen in the future.
Since human beings are the most complicated state in evolution at the present, considering the structure of body, the numbers of elements making up it and the mechanism of collaboration as organism have highly complexity. However, even for a small cell being, the activation to maintain itself has been continuously operating, which keeps alive. Moreover, life not only maintains its function but also causes mutations to increase the variety, and those adapted to the environment becomes more dominant and spread. We know the movement of mutation that gradually adds functions and rises up higher species. These steps have evolved to the intellectual life form as human beings. We can say that human being has become extremely complicated accumulating incessantly various complexities.
There is a trend in the universe that has become complicated. Initially the complicated kinds of elements made up living being had not existed in the universe, we know the steps that oxygen and carbon were produced from simple elements such as hydrogen, then macromolecules and polymers generated in the universe. In other words, in the universe a process existed that changed from a simple element to a complex polymer before life occurrence. Those substances that are essential to living being, synthesized in the temperature and atmosphere of the planet, there a simple living occurred and then it has evolved to beings that are more complicated. The process of life evolution, that is to say, did not start from the birth of life, but also the process that basic element gradually became complicated to higher elements and made macromolecules should be included. The essential elements and macromolecules needed for life had been prepared in the universe, and then life came about. Even in the universe itself, there is a tendency toward complication as if it supports to evolve life being. Consequently, we can expect that human being and society will become more complicated, because that trend is also acting on humankind of the earth even now. Moreover, this tendency may be natural movement in the universe.
II. Occurrence of Consciousness
Even though modern science has advanced every day, details of what is going on inside the atom core remain at the stage of predicting from the theory at present, and nobody sees atomic nuclei or elementary particles. We are only predicting the structure from experimental behavior of atoms. When we see an object with an electron microscope, it makes only an image where electrons are applying to the object, though we can check what element is, we cannot know what is inside the nucleus. Since it is predicted based on the theory at the present, it may be overturned if something new theory is found to come up.
Moreover, I think that contemporary physicists cannot imagine targeting uncertainties such as consciousness. However, here I assume “Pre-consciousness” in the core of all substances that may become consciousness. Therefore, I think that though contemporary scientists may almost ignore at all, it is fun to think about the life process from a different viewpoint.
Let us infer about the mechanism by which this life occurs. At the stage where the number of agglomerated amino acids is so small amount, life cannot be activating independently. There, we cannot see the effect of "Consciousness of Life" in it yet, due to lack of the amount of pre-consciousness resonating. However, what about, when the mixing level and amount of essential substances for life is extremely high? When the number of polymer molecules reaches a combination exceeding millions, the resonance among pre-consciousness that originally existed in the core of substances build up an organization, then changes to “Consciousness of Life”. The combination of macromolecules and polymers agglomerated elements tend to constitute, as a system, circulating in the inner part of the cell membrane, there you can see the structures composed of proteins and nucleic acids. In this point, the characteristics as the "Consciousness of Life", begins to become clear. When it reaches the activation point of a cell, (this is beyond an important threshold), this "Consciousness" characteristic clearly appears and we feel that it is a different world from the dead (solid) substance.
Life organisms are inevitably composed of tremendous number of elements integrated as a unit, and combined macromolecules and interrelated small and active parts. In other words, huge number of elements intertwined and organized in hierarchy as one unit. In order to maintain a complicated structure, we can think that if there is a center on it and unless the organization as a whole is radiative structure, then it will become soon apart from each other. If the organization does not form a system that a center exists and integrates, we cannot consider that the function of controlling elements achieves to integrate as a unit and it progresses in a more complicated direction while it keeps activating itself.
The fact that life occurred in the universe suggests that the life substances gathered and combined each other, operated by some sort of resonance in the course of gradually increasing the agglomeration. It starts to activate life when it exceeds a certain threshold value. So that, I assume that there is a factor in all substances as foundation of consciousness, like waves as the sound resonating. The factor seems to be a vibration of the "Pre-consciousness" in the deep inside of the atom nucleus. If there is no opponent resonating nearby, it is a negligible small vibration, but if there are many groups of pre-consciousness resonating in a certain range, the vibration begins to resonate little by little, and all pre-consciousness resonance start together. Otherwise, it takes nearly infinite time to gather a large amount of substances that build up life and start to activate life being, and it is unlikely to complete in time by the end of the universe. When this vibration of pre-consciousness gathers and exceeds a threshold, "Consciousness of Life" activates, organizes and occurs.
As if the process of life has already been determined, it creates “cell structure”, a complicated mechanism inside and outside of cell membrane. In addition, the same mechanism keeps operating in higher organisms along with steps mutating more complex being. In all living organisms, even though much various species appeared, one syngeneic (enantiomer L-form) is only present in the compound form of amino acids and the physiological mechanism is the same cell structure continues. In other words, the organization structure of living being has continuity through evolution. We know that a molecule composes of atoms, but a molecule has added features that are not present at each atom and it has special characteristics. Even though the features of those functions are not at the atomic level, at least the world of the living substance is made of the same material as the world of atoms constituting molecules. In other words, there is a consistent continuity from "atom" world to “intellectual human being” world.
In this consistent continuity, a phenomenon that we feel heterogeneous, that is, “Life” occurred and activated itself in the universe. In the appropriate initial conditions, huge elements gathered to a center, the agglomerated "Pre-Consciousness" in substances resonate and repeat the movement of adding complexity to the unit, and then it goes beyond the threshold, "Consciousness of Life” begins to be activated, a process called self-proliferation has occurred. To cause this activation, it is necessary for all substances to have vibrations that respond to the “Consciousness of Life”. We know there are several stages raised in evolution as the famous diagram of “Tree of Life”. In order to maintain an organization more complicated by each stage, a living unit necessarily integrates more strongly. There added many functions related with mutual association among the constituent elements of the organization, and the mechanisms by which living organisms realize by complicated cooperation. As for what is integrating life as one unit, I call "Consciousness of Life", and it is the foundation of maintaining motivation to keep activating and constantly vitalizing by itself.
Here, I do not know if it is the power of energy from something or physical entity. However, it tends to gather by resonance, and it has the power to maintain activating, it gradually changes according to the threshold value, so it may be close to the vibration that strengthens and attenuates with complicated combination. In addition, the "Consciousness of Life" as a center of living organism maintains a bundled complex organization structure, still with the intention to proliferate itself, and with the motivation to mutate higher types that are more complicated.
III. Rising Consciousness Upward
The "Consciousness of Life" of the living entity, operates by means of the small resonating particles within atoms, “Pre-consciousness” substances gathering, as a new center formed there, and it works itself keeping organization as a whole unit until death. For an organism, "Consciousness of Life" locates no actual position of living being, it is like a vibration integrating the whole entity, so we cannot specify as to where it is. The center of life being motivates to maintain revitalization and reproduce by itself, moreover it has probability that does not use currently but will create the next species.
From outside viewpoint of living being, it self-proliferates while maintaining its own activation, but there is a mutating phenomenon in hidden inside that seems to persist in entire life evolution. Looking over life evolution, life proceeds in the direction of increasing complexity, that is, "Consciousness of Life" has a factor to raise itself. In other words, "Consciousness of Life" has a movement of activation to create a new type. In living organism, we may say “tangential relation” midst circulating system between adjacent molecules. On the other hand, we can find the “radiate relation” in a center of species, going to move from the present species to the next species due to the whole change of outlooks and functions. It seems like psychic energy that acts to become more complex as if a new consciousness occurs. Since modern science cannot explain the cause, it may be necessary to interpret something new concept or closer to mysticism.
In the evolution of living organisms, life species has dispersed and diversified, but life has progressed to add complexities in the nervous system and enrich cerebral functions to become more intellectual. In the movement which life has evolved, once it became complicated stage, still it repeated as much as possible to proceed even more complicated by trial and error. Life has kept irreversibly acting the movement which has become complex, consistently in evolution. In other words, even if there was some error, there was only advancement and there was no recession in life types. Even at the beginning stage of evolution, we can observe this internal demand as a persistent impulse (motive), and as a "blind" impulse of organisms that lasts for hundreds of millions of years without a break, directs to higher consciousness.
In order for consciousness to advance all the time, not only the activating function sustains but also there must be a condition that it is always attracted “upward” in the whole progress of life. If this condition is unstable or does not exist, then the process may go not only upward but also downward, and will stop at any point due to the law of entropy. Therefore, when "Consciousness of Life" advances and reaches the stage where human beings form a spirit, the attraction from upward direction manifests in the feature of longing for "absoluteness" or "eternity". The demands that aim to such ultimate thing become a source of philosophy, art and religion.
In this universe, there is a tendency for substances to keep becoming more complicated, and if consciousness occurs due to the extreme complexity, then human beings cannot stop at the current level. As human beings, we are involved physically and mentally to roll up in the movement of the universe. Already, the total amount of activities and consciousness in human society is beyond total sum of each individual. It is not merely a sum but there are additional values produced by the consolidation integrated in human society, and they are the results from complex development in tangled situations in society. Here, we can see the process toward more concentrated center in the flow of moving more complicated.
The progression of complexity is exactly what is expected if the integration of individual spirits progresses in the realm of human society and our brains will exceed any threshold in this direction. However, unless we do our best for positive creation and exceed over the collapse of substances due to entropy, evolution will lose its original path and will end at uncompleted state. Moreover, we might be replaced with another kind of human being that is richer in creativity.
IV. Summary
When we see the process of evolution of living things as a whole, it seems to be true that there is irreversibility in evolving process. Because the trait of life type does not return to the old form and the characteristic of organism is increasing complexity through the process of evolution. However, scientists cannot explain clearly, why it has incessantly increased.
In the recent explanation, human society and the human brain are to be non-equilibrium complex system. The explanation mentioned that the new function appeared and enhanced among any directions occurred in fluctuation that allows elements to choose progress from the unbalanced state. Moreover, the environment of the earth is “open system” in the universe, it has an input and output interaction of energy and entropy, it is said that the life can rise and evolve in case of decreasing the entropy. It means that living things progress in a non-equilibrium “open system” that maintains the continuity as a whole. After all, even if it explained as "life is a phenomenon of self-organization in a non-equilibrium open system", but I cannot make sense the direction that life has raised up human beings continuing more complicated and achieving the intelligent organism.
The direction that has been towards intellectual life forms like human beings, as their creative behavior, refining actions and things better, various methods of conveying and accumulating information, and complicated structure of society, has existed and kept, and has continued in posterity. Do all these phenomena happen only by fortuitous selection? We humans have a spiritual movement and have the will to carry out thinking about the motivations and the means to act. We may start our actions by chance, but we can make the choice of actions by ourselves. The entity that selects the direction of progress is there, and the law of the universe is working in the spirit.
Besides, we do not act solely to satisfy our own desires, but our emotions of sympathy or affection occur in our minds influenced from the connection collaborating with friends or families. Because it is not an action from thinking good or bad, but natural actions from the own personality, it is not conveyed by words, but a mind and a heart are directly connected. At that time, we are acting with the spirit that built on our own experience as the subject. In the spirit that accumulates complexity in individuality, the law in the universe works that substances concentrate into a center, and organizes complexities around the center.
By observation around us, considering the atomic world, the stars of the universe, the construction of life forms, human society, all the same line tends to gather towards the center and to have the rising steps to more complicated. Here, I can feel similar "essential movement" from atom to human. Moreover, such a line leads to the essence of building up a spirit.
Then, when we think about what life is, cannot we define that it is a peculiar property in the case where the resonating substances reach “Consciousness of Life” at the center, among substances gathering or circulating in the universe? In the universe, there is a trend towards a complex organization of a higher degree. Moreover, all substances in the universe include pre-consciousness, make life activate, conveying consciousness inevitably to a spirit focused as a center. The universe, I think, supports the movement that develops life beings. In the process that substances gather around the center and gradually organize themselves complicated as macromolecules, there integrate a lot of pre-consciousness as a whole. At that time exceed the threshold, "Consciousness of Life" forms, and living matter generates. Once life being occurs, it raises gradually more complicated from a simple structure to an intricate organism, toward intellectual life forms, involving lower structures.
