Part-IV  To be moved is a rise of consciousness

What we see and hear is that the brain recognizes electromagnetic and sound waves as colors and tones from sense organs such as eyes and ears. Our sense here is not only identifying what is around. We have the ability to distinguish more than just wavelengths within the wave combination, and those wavelengths stimulate our emotions in many ways. We feel beautiful or wonderful, when hearing or seeing, or we feel intimidating anxiety or scared. Then, we express the emotions obtained, linked to words.

One example is the experience of watching and touching art. When the mind of those who listens to music and watch arts is moved, it appeals to our heart. There is a heightened feeling of fulfillment, sometimes the body shakes and tears come out. We express the experience of that time in words that we are moved. It is a moment impressed by the object and our emotions are concentrated enriching the mind as if we forget time. At that moment, you will feel as if your heart resonates with the subject. A feeling of high abstraction may occur in you, and it may be that you are moved into it and forget about time. There is a feeling that the concentration on the subject goes beyond the mere sense of wavelength and raises the action of the mind one level higher.

In contrast, if you are offensive to an opponent's attack in a sports game, you will forget yourself and become excited. Empathic exhilaration occurs in such situations where things move in a positive direction, such as with fortitude or team collaboration. This feeling of heightening is a little different from the impression that I mean here, even though there is a strong emotional height. It is because new discoveries do not continue after that. What I would like to talk about here is the possibility of expanding the mind and spirit by feeling beautiful or wonderful. Although a story in which a person overcomes difficulties from a stressed position deserves to be moved, it is not actually an experience value of the person unless he is experienced by himself. It creates a positive feeling that you will be able do it through your own experience. This is the power to inspire rather than impression to be moved. Overcoming adversity and opening up new developments is one of abilities of life beings. Humans further extend this ability.

I think a little more about impression being moved. In order to admit that the subject is beautiful and to be moved by it, I think that there is always hope or a stance of mindbefore that. When you come across great landscapes or famous paintings in the museum, you have a sense of going out there and discovering something. When listening to music, we feel stronger impression to go to a concert than listening at home. There is a preparatory stage to get there, and a stage to raise consciousness gradually is necessary. Therefore, when you receive a strong impression as expected, your emotions will rise and you will be moved. In our mind, we have the expectation of meeting the impression, and when we find them, we can satisfy to feel moved with fulfillment.

When you are moved pictures or music, there are people who are not impressed for the same landscapes, paintings, or music. In that case, it is thought that impression is a stimulus that gives a special feeling for the individual, as the information patterned and identified in the brain is combined with the value from various experiences. Even if you receive an unexpected gift or a surprise accompanied by joy, the situation will not make you feel the impression to be moved though it is pleasure. The experience of getting impression to be moved seems forming gradually in consciousness as empirical value. In other words, experiences that feel great or wonderful are stored little by little, and such collaboration that serve as stimuli for recognition links in the brain, and this accumulation of experiences rises to a clear recognition. Discovering a fulfilling experience from the information received from the sense organs is to expand the individuality of the person and complicate the combination of recognition.

When many people are moved by great works and performances at the same place, although they are different in the degree to be moved, they are generating the feeling of resonating to the same target, so the sources that cause them are the same. When a strong emotion occurs in people, it becomes a force and affects the surroundings. It resonates with many people who are moved. Such resonance takes place in the closed space. We are going to the museum to be moved by paintings, and going to a concert to be moved by music. We have a hope that we want to meet something wonderful on purpose. Furthermore, the feeling of being moved by stimulation from the same subject is spread widely, in different languages, characters, ages, or even from different races. In other words, impression is a universal language itself in humans.

In the process to the situation that leads to the inspired impression, humans have a common mind that moves in the direction of strong impression even though there are differences due to individuality. If you were an ordinary person, you would not have been able to distinguish the arts in your early childhood, and you would not have much experience of being moved. It seems that the feeling that impression to be attracted will appear after some age. The reaction that enhances the emotion from the stimulus from the subject reaches the power to shake the heart, by means of accumulation of various experiences.

What I want to say here is that it is necessary to prepare the situation of being moved by one's own mind because of consciousness rising. The inspirational thing of art comes from the fact that humans as intellectual being have accumulated such experiences. In the process of personal growth and development, you can remember the height of emotions, identify the objects to be touched, and retain the strong emotions in memory. However, forced education as seen in some cases, may cause distortions in the way emotions occur. In some kind of organic cause, there may be person who cannot feel the excitement. However, if the phenomenon of impression to be moved occurs, it will certainly lead to the fulfillment of the mind and spirit. It is a world that cannot measure only by convenience and efficiency. We will go to museums, concerts, or landmarks around the world in search of inspiration. We will dare to use the money and time to seek inspiration without hesitation. Is this simply a change of mind for everyday life, or is there some consciousness working behind them?

<Consideration as increase of intelligence>

The flow of life that has developed consciousness for a long time has extended to human beings such as mind or spirit. Not only does it make life more efficient through identification by the brain, it also leads to development toward the height of the future. What human beings have become intellectual is caused by which make the world of mind more complicated and develop towards fulfilling the spirit. If the flow of life events is on a long experience from simple cells to having intelligence, and if it has aimed at rising of consciousness, the activation of life suggests that it leads to the future. It is the suggestion that we have the most appropriate form in space and time situations already given us. Therefore, it may be one direction that we identify and find out the things to be moved as wonderful and beautiful.

You can also see the accumulation of experiences in the history of painting. From the time when the object was projected and written as it was seen, it has been developed into a technology that appeals with invisible emotions more than just realism, partly due to the development of photographic technology. Regarding to the stimulation of sounds, there is a series of rhythmic sounds that convey information far away instead of speaking words, and that activate body movement in hunting and festivals. Then, it incorporates elaborate emotions by the invention of musical notes and the discovery of equal temperament, it has become an expression of intonation, and it has accumulated up to the grand impression of the symphony. These things are to take out and understand the extensibility of the heart hidden in the abstraction. What is suggested is that we need to develop this identifying ability in the future.

If the truth of this universe is beyond time and space that we can currently perceive, and if it is in a higher dimension than three dimensions for example, then it is natural that the information we can get from sense organs is just a small part of truth. Even though what we are seeing and hearing is part of truth, not all of it is visible, so it is natural that we cannot explain with the information we now receive. With the rising of consciousness in the future, it may be visible gradually as the mind and spirit spread.

Consciousness has risen with the evolution of life, but it is in the middle stages of the development of present intelligence. What we see is the change before and after time, and we only see what was in the past that went back from the present of memory. In the course of life beings, due to severe life conditions, priority stimuli have emphasized, and irrelevant ones have discarded. Our sense organs distort the truth by the condition of the body, because human vision can only accept visible light. In other words, even at the expense that discards and distorts, life's activities raise consciousness gradually and analyze information precisely while making an effort to increase intelligence. As human beings become more complicated in society, the understanding of the causal relationship with the passage of time is spreading. We reflect on what has happened in the past, predict what will happen next, and make every effort to benefit the environment of the individual with less failure.

Moreover, when we are conscious of time, we not only target objective time, but also have purpose and action that each individual pays attention to, and concentrate on time as its index. The sense of time changes depending on how time is perceived by the individual who feels emotion and concentration. Here, the "inspired" experience to be touched is to make the time coincide there, because when the resonance caused by the impression occurs, it develops into the spread of spirit in the closed space. The many individual spirits that exist there leave the individual and give rise to a passion for fulfillment and a motive for connection with strong emotion. Here, if the flow of life events leading to the future, it may be inferred that the most appropriate form in space and time situations has already been hidden and given to us in the mechanism of inspiring impression.

It is important not only to analyze by scientific theory but also to understand the causal relationship beyond time and space. Perhaps when such a sense of fulfillment develops, it means that it will reach the height of enlightenment of the Buddha. This inspiring resonance as a spirit has the potential that complex consciousness in human body will be a high spirit in humans. Even after the human body has destroyed, I cannot cut the possibility that the spirit has progressed towards unification. It is a human property that we can sympathize with the enlightenment happened during the Buddha period, even in the present age. Humans form such spiritual expanse due to the inspiring resonance because of rising consciousness and the spirit will cover and envelop the earth.

私たちが色や音を見たり聞いたりして意識するとき、感覚器官で受け取った電磁波や音波を、脳が識別したこと意味しています。ここで私たちは、まわりにある色や音を単に識別しているだけではありません。私たちは波の組み合わせの中に単なる波長以上のものを識別できる能力を持っていて、それらの波長は私たちの感情を様々に刺激します。その１つとして、見たこと聞いたことに綺麗とか美しいあるいは畏怖の念を持ち、得体の知れない不安や恐怖を感じます。そこで得た感情を言葉と結びつけて表現します。１つの例として、芸術を鑑賞して感動する体験があります。それは見る人聞く人の心を動かして自分の心情に訴えているものを感じます。充実した気持ちに満たされる高まりがあって、身体が震えて涙が出ることもあります。このときの体験を私たちは感動するという言葉で表します。それは対象から感銘を受けて感情がそこに集中して時間を忘れ、心を充実させ豊かにする瞬間です。その瞬間は、自分の心情が対象と共鳴しているような感覚に見舞われます。自分の中に高い抽象化ともいえる心情が起こり、その中に巻き込まれて時間を忘れてしまうことが感動ということではないでしょうか。対象への集中が単なる波長の情報を受容する枠を超えて、心とか精神の作用を１つ上へと高めるような感じがあります。

対照的にスポーツの試合などで、相手から攻められて不利な状況から形勢を逆転するようなときに、我を忘れて気持ちが盛り上がります。不屈の精神とかチーム連携などで、良い方向に推移する状況では、感情移入する高揚感が起こります。このときの気持ちは強い感情の高まりはあっても、ここで意味する感動とは少し違います。その後に新たな発見が続かないからです。ここで話題にしたいのは、美しいとかすばらしいとか感じることが、個人の心や精神を広げていく可能性を考えています。ある人が虐げられた立場から困難を克服していく物語に、感動に値する感じを伴いますが、自分で体験していなければ実際に本人の経験値にはなりません。それは他人の経験を通して、やればできるという前向きの気持ちを起こさせます。これは感動というより共感とか奮起を起こさせる力でしょう。逆境にあってそれを克服して新たな展開を切り開いていくのは、生命にある能力の１つです。人間はさらにこの能力を拡張しています。

感動するということをもう少し考えます。自分で対象を美しいと認めて感動するときには、その前には必ず期待とか身構えがあるように思います。すばらしいと思える風景や絵画に出会うときには、そこまで出向いて何かを発見しようという意識が働きます。音楽を聴くときも自宅で聞くよりも演奏会に出向いて実際の演奏を前にして聞くほうが感動するようです。感動にはそこに達するまでの準備段階があって、徐々に意識を高める段階が必要です。そこで期待通りの強い印象を受けると感情が高ぶって感動へと導かれます。私たちの心のなかには感動に出会いたいという期待があり、それを見出したときに言い知れない充実した心持が広がります。風景や絵画あるいは音楽に対して、同じ絵を見たり同じ音楽を聴いたりしても、感動する人もいれば、何とも思わない人も多くいます。そうなると、感動ということは、脳でパターン化され識別された情報に様々な経験からの付加価値が結びついて、個人にとって特別な心持を生じる刺激となっていると考えられます。

思いがけない贈り物をもらったり、突然の出会いで喜びを伴った驚きがあったりしても、それだけでは魂が震えるような感動は起こりません。感動を得られる体験とは徐々に形成されるもののようです。つまり、すごいとかすばらしいと感じる体験が脳に記憶されると、対象からの刺激として連携され、この経験の積み重ねが充実する感情へと上昇させていきます。感覚器官から受容した情報から、充実する体験を発見して追加することは、自己の個性が広がり認識の組み合わせを複雑にしていくことです。ここで、複数の人が名画や名演奏に感動するとき、感動の程度に違いはあっても、それらの人々は同じ対象に対して感動という状況にあるので、その感情を起こす元は一緒ということです。感動するほどの強い感情が人々に起こると、それが力となって、周囲に影響を及ぼします。それは引き合いながら共鳴していきます。その閉じた空間のなかで１つの共鳴が起こっています。絵画に感動するには美術館へいくし、音楽に感動するには演奏会に行きます。わざわざ行くには何かすばらしいものに会いたいという期待があり心構えがあります。その上、感動するという雰囲気は、言語、性格、年齢などが違っても、人種が異なっても、人間であれば、同じ対象からの刺激によって広がります。言い換えれば、感動は人間において世界共通語そのものです。

感動に至る心の過程には、個性による違いはあっても、感動する方向、つまり充実する心持を得ようとする心が共通にあります。個人の発達を考えると、通常の人であれば、幼児や年少の時期には芸術というものを区別できなかったはずだし、感動する経験もないでしょう。感動が起こるという心持は、ある程度年齢が経ってからの現われるようです。対象からの刺激から感情を高めていく反応が、経験として積み重なるうちに、それが心を震わす力を持ってくるということです。ここで言いたいのは、意識という基盤の上に、自分の心で感動という状況を用意する必要があるということです。芸術という感動を与えるものは、知的生命となった人間が、経験を重ねることで生じています。個人の成長や発達の過程において、感情の高まりを覚え、感動する対象を識別できて、その強い感情を記憶に残します。しかし、一部に見られる強制された教育では、感情の起こり方に歪みが生じるかもしれません。また、何らかの器質的な原因で感動を味わえないこともあります。しかし、感動という現象が起こるならば、それは心や精神の充実に確かにつながるものでしょう。それは便利さや効率だけでは計れない世界です。私たちは感動を求めて美術館や演奏会あるいは各地の名所旧跡に出かけます。あえて、お金と時間を使って労力を惜しむことなく感動を求めます。これは、単調な日常生活に対して単に気分転換をしたいだけなのでしょうか。それとも、その奥に何らかの意識が働いているのでしょうか。

＜知性の発展としての考察＞

生命は人間に至るまでに長い時間をかけて意識を発達させてきました。そして生命は人間において、心とか精神というものにまで拡張しています。脳による識別によって生きることを効率化するだけでなく、未来の高みへ向かう発展へつながっています。人間が知性をもった生命になったことは、心の世界をもっと複雑にして、精神の充実に向かって発展していることです。生命の事象が単純な細胞から知性を持つまでに至る長い経験の上にあるものならば、それが意識の上昇を目論んできたならば、この知的な発展にこそ未来につながる生命の事象が示唆されています。この空間と時間の状況において最も適切とされる形態が、現在の私たちのなかにすでに示唆されている、としてもよいことになります。すばらしいものや美しいものを識別できること、それとわかってもっと極めようとするのは、その方向性の１つではないでしょうか。

絵画の歴史にも経験の積み重ねを見ることができます。対象を見えた通りに映し出して書いた時代から、写真技術の発達の影響もあって、単なる写実よりもそこに目に見えない感情を込めて訴える技術に発展しています。音の刺激についても、狩や祭りなどで身体の動きを賦活させるリズムや言葉の代わりに遠くに情報を伝えるリズム的な音の連続が、音符の発明や平均律の発見などで精緻な感情を込めた抑揚を表すようになり、交響楽の壮大な感銘にまで積みあがっています。これらのことは、抽象性のなかに秘められた心の拡張性が浮き彫りになり、その理解を深めてきたということです。そこに示唆されたことは、この識別する能力を未来に開発する必要があるということです。この宇宙の真理が、私たちが現在感じ取れる時間と空間を超えているならば、例えばそれが３次元以上の高次元にあるならば、当然のように私たちが感覚器官から得られる情報は真実のほんの一部にしか過ぎません。私たちが見たり聞いたりしていることは真実の一部であっても、そのすべてが見えていないので、私たちの受け取っている情報だけでは説明できないのは当然です。しかし今後の意識の上昇によって、心や精神の広がりと共にそれが徐々に理解できる可能性があります。

意識は生命の進化とともに上昇してきましたが、現在の知性の発達の中途の段階にあります。私たちに見えているのは時間による前後の変化であって、記憶に残る現在から遡った過去にあったことだけです。その経過で生命体は厳しい生存条件による制限から、優先する刺激が強調され、関係ないものは捨てられてきています。人間の視覚でも可視光線の光だけの受容という制限などから、その意識は身体の条件による制限で歪められている部分もあります。つまり、生命の流れは、たとえ犠牲を払っても徐々に知性を高める努力をしながら意識を上昇させていて、脳に入る情報を精緻に分析して理解するようになっています。実際には、人間関係や社会の仕組みが複雑になるに伴い、人として時間の経過に伴う因果関係の理解が広く深くなっています。過去に起こったことを内省して、次に起こることを予測し失敗を少なくしようとする努力を強いられています。

そして、私たちが時間を意識するときには、客観的な時刻を対象にするだけでなく、あくまで各々個人が注目する目的と行動があって、その指標としての時間の意識に集中します。その個人の感情や状況によって、時間がどう意識されるかによって、時間についての感覚は変わってしまうものです。そこで、ある閉じた空間で感動による共振作用が起こると、その人々の精神の広がりへと発展するので、感動する体験が時間を一致させるものであると気づきます。そこにある多くの個々の精神は、個人を離れて充実への情熱から結びつく動機への活性化を生じます。ここに未来につながる生命の事象が秘められているのではないでしょうか。これは未来につながる空間と時間において、適切な形態につながる可能性があります。

科学的な理論によってだけ分析するのではなく、時間と空間を超えた因果関係を理解しようとすることも重要と思います。おそらく、このような充実感が個人の内で発展すると、仏教でいう涅槃のような高みに達するということなのでしょう。この精神としての感動の共振作用は、人間の肉体において複雑になった意識が精神として高い段階になっていくならば、肉体が滅した後も精神が統合に向うように発展するという可能性も捨て切れません。仏陀の時代に起こった涅槃の境地ということが現代でも共感できるということは、人間が積み重ねた財産になっていることです。人類は意識の上昇の成果として、未来に感動の共振による精神の広がりを形成して、その精神は地球を被って包み込んでいきます。

Part-III Consciousness extending to all living things

In our daily life, we generally use the word "consciousness", meaning that we are aware of and concentrating on something. When you feel some pressure or pain in your body, you will be aware of the area. When you look down from a high position, you may be aware that the foot may be stagnant. In addition, we may look back with the sense consciously of the gaze from others. To be conscious like this is the feeling that you become the subject of yourself and that is to say that you are living by feeling yourself. Therefore, we can understand that the expression that the consciousness has returned to the person in the life-and-death boundary means that the subject as a human being has regained. However, we are not always conscious of something in the normal life situations, and we are particularly aware of the subject when we are in difficulty or disability and need concentration from danger or anxiety.

“Consciousness” seems to be a basic function that occurs when you have to strongly recognize an object, rather than thinking about it with your brain. It means that you need to sharpen your senses and carefully observe the subject against the surrounding situation, and have a specific response to it. I think that this situation will extend as it generally responds to stimuli as a living organism. Here, I would like to raise an idea: Living beings have a basic consciousness when they are alive. I think that consciousness should be at the center of living from the beginning in life evolution. I mean that when the consciousness became the stage of human being it became upper consciousness with awareness of own-self. Considering further, when all living things keep life activities, they have a consciousness that centers each individual, and those living things are active by the consciousness. In other words, from the beginning of life, those who have life activities were conscious basic movements to distinguish own-selves from others.

For example, when animals find and consume food, we can easily say that they are conscious of what they take in as their own food. We intend to understand that in an abstract way in terms of instinct. However, in order to ingest food, organisms have to act only because it can distinguish food from other substances based on all stimuli received from outside. They cannot take it unless they are aware of food. The consciousness that we are thinking here is the reaction to recognize and take in food as the basis for maintaining living activities, that is, the reaction of recognizing and ingesting a specific substance selected from many stimuli around it. What causes that movement? A factor that causes an action to be aware and taken in food, in order an organism to continue living and revitalize, is a “consciousness to live”, I think. There is a consciousness to live as the subject of an organism, from which an action is taking place, which supports all normal functions of living things.

An individual of living things has an autonomous consciousness to live, and that consciousness controls the individual as a whole. If each part of a living individual is acting in a selfish manner, it is not possible to have a cohesive behavior as an individual. If you think so, living things keep integrated as one closed body, in which the whole substances put together and play each role as one subject of activity.　If we assume that the sense which human feels as his own-self is to recognize the subject of his activities proactively to live, that idea will expand to all living things. I think, it is safe to assume some thing, which centralizes the all body to live, and it can make act one organism as a whole. Here, in living things, "Consciousness to live" is centralizing, not an actual real center and physically collecting matters of the body, but governing a living thing as one closed individual.　In other words, all living things have the consciousness to act as one subject even if they are not conscious themselves. The difference between humans and other animals is whether they are clearly aware of the subject of own-self. I think that human consciousness has risen in the stage of life, and it is an important point of the evolution.

We say that each living individual has a "Consciousness to live" and it cannot be alive unless the whole body is centralized and integrated on itself. In other words, all living things need a center that organizes the individual and that is the subject of taking all actions. In other words, in order to maintain life, the whole substances in the individual need to be firmly concentrated on one body as a "life-bearing aggregate". If any strong stimulus interrupts the concentration from the outside, the activity will stop and return as a mere mass composed of proteins and others. In this mass of integrated aggregate, a life has arisen in the centralizing direction. "Consciousness to live" as one center that has arisen in the individual of all living things continues from the first life occurrence to humans which is the most complicated organisms.

I will consider that story more broadly. All materials in the universe are supposed to be composed of basic materials such as atoms of hydrogen and oxygen, etc. Moreover, in addition to various atoms, in the universe, there are light, electromagnetic waves, heat, energy action, etc., and we think that all matters are composed of these mutual relations. Here, where is the difference between life and non-life? What constitutes a living substance is the same as the non-living substance at the element level and there is no difference. However, in general observation, we can see a clear difference between autonomously acting organisms and inanimate non-living materials, in terms of spontaneous activity. What is the primary difference between life and non-life?　

I think the fundamental difference caused the activity is a "Consciousness to live" that brings together at the center of an individual which is a mass of substance. Life or non-life is whether the consciousness to live exists or not. Therefore, I think that the “Consciousness to live” appears when many substances gather in the direction of life and go beyond a certain threshold through gradually organizing in a complex manner. As for the occurrence of life, there is no scientific proof at this point, so I can only say a trend that originally exists in the universe. The phenomenon, I would like to focus here, is that all substances such as atoms and molecules have a specific way of connecting each other.

We know that matter tends to collect and clump as dust of the universe gathers into a star. When specific atoms and molecules gather, combinations of various bonds such as covalent bonds and hydrogen bonds occur, and depending on the bonding method of those substances, new characteristics appear in the properties of each mass. In other words, various substances are composed of a combination of basic substances of elements, and there is a possibility that the combination has repeatedly grown between unstable and stable due to bonding and separation, and has grown into a more complex substance. It is possible that atoms and molecules combine in various ways to form upper layer blocks that become amino acids. However, in order for life to occur, various amino acids have to combine more complicatedly, and complex macromolecules with new properties as protein are required. These highly condensed molecular substances compose only by biological activities.

Considering the movement of matter in the universe, the following should be clear. In this universe, if the environmental conditions meet, chances are that (1) substances tend to gather into lumps, and (2) specific substances link or repel depending on the nature of various substances. (3) Large number of substances randomly combines, and the substances take various forms, so that a considerable number of elements such as hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon converge in a cluster. We can think about a possibility that the form of amino acid occurred. It is understandable if the above tendency is present, several dozens of amino acids will generate by repetition with many diverse linkages composing and decomposing.

Here, we have to explain the reason that the combination of amino acids collected in a complex polymer called a protein. This is because the proteins that make up the living body must be there at the same time as the occurrence of life. We know the explanation of the bonding mechanism between substances, explained by the combination of atoms and the movement of electrons. However, can you calculate the possibility that non-living matters collect several proteins that required at least as many as four thousand complexities with molecular weights leading to biological activities? It would be huge low possibility, and life should not appear no matter how long. In order to activate multiple protein combinations, I think, the substances that make up a living thing originally have the ability to steer in a direction towards life. Therefore, I think about a possibility that the basics of matter also have a direction toward life. That is why, contrary to the tendency of increasing entropy, there is a strange movement that the mass of substance becomes complicated, as the protein that composes the living body could be formed even in very low possibility by chances repeating trials and errors. In other words, the action that has a direction to life is hided in all substances, as the direction is adapted to life little by little over time, and as a result, it has grown to a very complex combination of molecules such as protein and fat in the living body.

We have to reconsider matters in the universe from the beginning. We generally know that the number of protons in the nucleus determines the nature of the atom as the base of elements. We assume that protons in each atom are not particularly different, and only the increase in the number of protons causes the difference in properties. I think possibly that protons have a weak vibration that causes a property, and the property appears by the overlapping manner of the vibration. Furthermore, let us consider the assumption that the vibration in protons overlaps with the weaker "vibrations to the consciousness” (like a fluctuation) that will become the basis of life, and that the resonance of this vibration makes a choice for life.

The fluctuation of consciousness that lies inside the nucleus is not yet a life, but is in the stage before becoming a "Consciousness to live". Therefore, I will call it, "Pre-Conscious Fluctuation" or "Pre-Conscious Quantum", which will assume to be at the source of the substance, and then it is easy to explain the spontaneous movement toward the generation of life. In other words, every substance has this weak vibration of pre-conscious quantum, which is the previous stage of "consciousness to live" that centralizes the living being, and the living body will become one by the resonance of all pre-conscious quanta included. I think that such vibration is so weak that we cannot measure inside a proton by any human-made measuring instrument. (Note: Since the word “preconscious” has another meaning in psychoanalysis etc., I use “pre-conscious quantum”)

In other words, it assumes that all matter has "fluctuation" of the pre-conscious quantum toward "consciousness of life", even if there is a law that entropy increases in the closed space of the universe. Assuming a weak fluctuation, which current science cannot catch inside of each atom, the resonance of each fluctuation generates and grows by means of increasing the number of substances, and its directionality gradually appears. That direction is a choice to which leads harmony with life. In other words, the way to life has already been prepared, and the generation of life has been decided in the universe.

In the process of matter gathering, the weak fluctuations of the atoms taken together resonate to grow and reach living. We see a fact that life has arisen in the universe because it continued consistently to select the direction in many chances in the long course. Here, it should be necessary for a considerable number of pre-conscious quanta to resonate and become efficient in order for the step-up to life because it is much weak fluctuation. In the long process of resonating in a closed lump and concentrating the center, the protein necessary for the life combined and organization of the tissue constituted, and by exceeding some threshold, "Consciousness to live" comes to be a center as life activities, it means that life is born.

Summarizing the above, as an attribute of a substance having a weak fluctuation (pre-conscious quantum), it has the property that (1) it resonates with each other when it gathers closing, and next (2) it attracts matters leading to life, and then (3) the direction to life appears. Moreover, in addition, there is any function to memorize the combination in the resonating wave. It means that substances gather and resonate at every chance opportunity and the result of the choice that experiences bonding and separating accumulate in the wave of pre-conscious quanta. It has to keep track of the current state. In comparison with a little while ago, it can be trying to respond to change the more complex ones on the various occasions of the state. If there is no such thing as recognition and choice, I think that it cannot become complicated irreversibly in the direction of life in the passage of time. That is, to be complicated from the previous state to the present, there should be a comparison that the state is more complicated than before, and a selection that it is necessary to respond to changes for life.　These achievements accelerate the gradual rising in the direction of life, and life is realized when the center of the closed body is generated.

At the same time, "Consciousness to live" appears at the center of the resonance among pre-conscious quanta, continues to raise the level of consciousness, leads to make the organization complicated, and reaches human beings. In human beings, rather than being aware of the "Consciousness to live" itself, still we have become aware of our own-self that is the subject. In other words, what is “self-directed activation as a living thing” is a unique property that maintains its direction as life that “Consciousness to live” created in the process of centering while resonating with many pre-conscious quanta, which repeating combination and separation between substances.

“Pre-conscious Quantum” that I have thought to be in all matters has an anti-entropy directionality where it gathers and leads to loose and flexible mass and it takes the direction becomes complicated. This movement works even after many “Pre-conscious Quantum” integrated into one as "Consciousness to live”. A loosely closed mass that directed to collect the resonated substances and organized more complexly, which is the evolution of organisms. In other words, the evolution of living beings is a phenomenon in which the “Consciousness to live”, which is the resonance body of all “Pre-conscious Quantum”, increases the density of focusing to the center by making the function complicated over time. This means that the direction continues even after huge collection of “Pre-conscious Quantum” has become "Consciousness to live", and gradually raising the stage of consciousness.

When considering the evolution in the nervous system of animals, when a change in function added to an individual, the degree of complexity of the tissue increased and at the same time, it is necessary for the individual to organize more centralizing due to the complicated. The "Consciousness to live" at a center of the individual is to be gradually rising while maintaining the overall balance as an individual. In other words, the direction of the "Consciousness to live" rising makes the organization of organisms slowly complex, and in response to the complexity, the focus to the center is more concentrated and the density becomes higher. As a result, "Consciousness of Life" itself has risen. Therefore, in the evolution of living things, the degree of "complexity" and the rise of "consciousness" have proceeded simultaneously in parallel.

If that happened, rising consciousness in animals might replace with the development of the nervous system. Considering the evolutionary process leading to humans in the course of invertebrates, arthropods, vertebrates, etc., the development of nervous systems including the brain might appear in the degree of self-awareness in relation to the sense organs. We can see the rising consciousness as a rising stage of nervous system until our self-awareness.

The human cerebrum is made up of tens of billions of nerve cells and peripheral cells (such as glial cells), making it the most complex brain function in today's organisms. Moreover, the human brain has acquired language and thinking. The reason why organisms have become complicated in this way is that the rising factor in "Consciousness of Life", has worked as the result of trials and errors. The fact is that life not only occurred in the universe, but also the life has reached intellectual individual. We can see the process in which life inherently occurred in the universe and complicated the mechanism, made living things intelligent and humans thinking. There is the flow in which humans will evolve further raising consciousness in the universe

When we look at the evolution of living things from above point of view, we can see the trend that the step-by-step rise is determined the direction to show intellectual characteristics. Moreover, the creatures at each stage force to leave their choices to be alive and to keep offspring. The individual is in the flow imposed on the self, and makes an intensive effort on the part to make a choice and judge by the self. In human beings, if the rise of consciousness is the decided flow as living things, there should be actions that we will choose into the future.

However, we cannot yet see the essence of "Consciousness to live", which is related to all living things and clings to continuing the state of living, though we are clearly awareness of our own-self. We need to think about this task. There must be a future along the flow of “Consciousness to live”, where the collection of “Pre-conscious Quantum” becomes alive, and the “Conscious of Life” awakens the conscious of own-self awareness. Even if we become humans and become conscious about ourselves, the resonance of the “Pre-conscious quantum” continues. I think that the basic functions that work on humans are "Consciousness to identify" and "Consciousness to connect".

Humans tend to come together as a companion, and they are organized and to form a society. Resonant gathering is a tendency that continues from the “Pre-conscious Quantum”. The energy action with directionality generated by the resonance of “Pre-conscious Quantum” not only acts in the material part, but also becomes the "Consciousness to identify" and "Consciousness to connect" with each other in human beings, connecting the mind and deepening the spirit. At the root of every substance is a fluctuation that accumulates (or shares somewhere) information with a directionality of “Pre-conscious Quantum”, and this fluctuation generates life and supports the flow that has become intellectual life. If so, the future in which people connect along the direction of raising consciousness will become clear.

Part-III 生物すべてに拡張する意識

私たちが日常で「意識する」という言葉を使うとき、一般的に自分が何かに気がついてそれに集中することを意味しています。自分の体に圧迫や痛みを感じたときにその部位を意識したり、高い所に立って下を見ると危ないと足がすくむことを意識したりします。また、他人からの視線を意識してその気配に振り返って見ることがあります。このような意識するということは、自分が主体となって自ら感じとるという感覚であり、これが即ち自分を実感して生きているということです。それだから、生死の境にいる人に対して意識が戻ったという表現は、人間としての主体を取り戻したという意味になることが理解できます。しかし、私たちは通常の生活の場面で、いつも何かを意識しているわけではなく、困難とか障害があって危険や不安から集中を必要とするときに対象を特に意識します。

「意識する」とは、頭脳で考えるとかじっくり反省するというより、対象を強く認識しなければならないときに生じる基本的な機能に思えます。それは周りの状況に対して、自分の感覚を研ぎ澄まし対象を注意深く観察して、それに対する特別な反応が必要になるということです。この状況は生物として一般的に刺激に対して反応することから拡張されていると考えます。ここで問題提起としたいのは、生物というのは生きて活動する際には、基本に意識というものあるという考え方です。意識ということが生命進化において最初から生きることの中心にあるはずと考えます。その意識が人間という段階になって自己の意識を明確に自覚したということです。これを発展させると、すべての生物において個体が生命活動を継続しているときに、その個体を中心化している意識があることになり、それによって生物は活動できていると考えるからです。つまり最初から生命をもつものは、自己をまわりから意識する基本の動きはあったと考えます。

例えば、動物が食料を見つけて摂取するときに、その取り入れる物を自分の食料として意識しているとも言えます。そのことを私たちは本能という言葉で抽象的に理解したつもりになっています。しかし、生物が食料を摂取するには、外部から受容したすべての刺激情報から、他の物質と区別して食料が識別できるからこそ摂取するわけです。ここで考えている意識ということは、まわりの多くの刺激から特定の物質を認識して摂取するという反応であり、生物が生きることを維持するために食料に気づき取り込むという動きが起こることです。その動きはどうして起こるのでしょうか。個体が生きる活性化を継続するために、食料に気づき取り込むという行動が必須であるということは、それを起こさせる要因があるはずです。それが生きている状態を継続させている意識ではないでしょうか。私たちは「本能」という抽象的な言葉で食物が分かるとして片付けてしまいますが、感覚器官で受容するあらゆる情報の中から食料であるものを識別して摂取できるのは、それを食料として気づいて意識していることでしょう。それは、生物の主体には生きていくという方向性があって、そこから行動が起こされていることになり、生きるための意識が生命の機能を支えています。

つまり生命の個体には生きようとする自律的な意識が働いていて、その意識が個体を全体的に制御していることになります。もし、生命個体の各部分が好き勝手に活動しているのであれば、個体としてのまとまりのある行動が成り立ちません。そう考えると、生物は１つの生命体として統合された状態を維持していて、そこに全体をまとめて活動の主体をなす中心の役割をなすものがあるはずです。人間が自己として感じる意識というものが主体的な自分を認識するものであるならば、それを生物に拡張して考えると、人間以外の生物にも全体として１つにまとめて活動できるための主体を構成しているものがあると考えても差し支えないことになります。それをここでは生物を１つの閉じた個体として統御しているものとして、「生きる意識」が中心化しているとして考えています。つまり、すべて生命あるものには、それ自身が意識していなくても、１つの主体として活動する意識があるということになります。人間とその他の動物との違いは、主体となる自己を自分が明確に自覚できているかどうかということになります。このことが、生命の進化において人間の意識の段階が上昇したことであり、生命の進化の重要なポイントであると考えます。

逆に考えると、生きている個体にはそれぞれ「生きる意識」があって、そこに全体が中心化されて統合されていなければ、生命を持つ個体となりえないと言ってよいかもしれません。つまり、生物には個体をまとめている中心が必要であって、それこそが行動を起こす主体であることになります。言い換えると、生命を維持していくには、その個体にある物質全体を「生命をもつ集合体」として、確固として１つに集中させている必要があります。もし外部から何らかの刺激によって、その中心への集中が途切れると、たんぱく質などの単なる塊となって活動が停止してしまいます。生命活動をしている物質の塊には、その中心化する方向に、「生きる意識」が生じています。生物の個体に生じた、１つの中心としての「生きる意識」というシステムは、最初の生命から最も複雑な生命である人間まで続いています。

ここで話をさらに広く考えます。宇宙のすべての物質は、水素や酸素などの原子という基本物質から構成されているということになっています。そして宇宙には、各種の原子のほかに光や電磁波あるいは熱やエネルギー作用などがあり、これらの相互関係で物質が構成されていると考えられています。ここで、生命と非生命との違いは何でしょうか？生命物質を構成しているものは、非生命の物質とは、元素のレベルでは同じであり何ら相違はありません。しかし一般的な観察では、自律的な動きをする生物と、活動しない非生命物質とは自発的な活動という面で明らかに相違が見られます。ここで、生命と非生命とで根源的な差を生じさせているのは何でしょうか？それは、物質の塊である個体の中心に、それをまとめている「生きる意識」があるかどうかと考えます。そこで、この生きる意識は、多くの物質が生命の方向に集まって、その集合が徐々に複雑に組織化されていくなかで、ある閾値をもって現れると考えます。生命の発生については、現時点で科学的な確証はないので、それは元々宇宙にある傾向ということにするしかありません。ここで注目したい現象は、原子とか分子などの物質は特定の方法で結びついていくということです。

宇宙の塵があつまって星になるように、物質は集まって塊になる傾向があると言われます。特定の原子や分子が集まると共有結合や水素結合のような様々な結合の組み合わせ起こり、それら物質が構成する結合の仕方によって、それぞれの塊の性質には新しい特徴が発現します。つまり様々な物質が元素という基本物質の組み合わせで構成され、そこから結合や反発によって組み合わせが不安定と安定の間を繰り返し、さらにより複雑な物質へと成長した可能性があります。原子や分子が様々に結合してアミノ酸というタンパク質の基になる物質ができたことは考えられます。しかし生命が生じるためには、各種のアミノ酸がさらに複雑に組み合わされて、タンパク質という新しい性質をもった複雑な高分子を必要とします。これらの高分子の物質は生物の活動でのみ作り出されているようです。

そういった宇宙の物質の動きから考えると以下のことが明らかでしょう。この宇宙には環境条件が揃えば、偶然の機会によって、(1)物質どうしが集まって塊となる傾向があること、(2)様々な物質の性質によって特定の物質どうしが結びついたり反発したりする状況が生じること、(3)多くの物質がランダムに結びついて物質が多様な形態をとること、これらのことから、水素、窒素、酸素、炭素という４つの元素がかなりの数で集まり、集塊に収束するなかで比較的簡単な構造のアミノ酸が生じる可能性は考えられます。多くの多様な結びつきが現われ、結合と分解の繰り返しによって安定した数十種類のアミノ酸が生じて生命の前段階となることは、上記の傾向があれば理解できます。しかし、ここでアミノ酸の組み合わせでタンパク質という複雑な高分子が生じる説明が必要です。生命の発生と同じ時期に生体を構成するタンパク質がそこになければならないからです。物質どうしが結合することについては、原子の結合の仕組みや原子内の電子の動きなどで説明はあっても、少なくとも分子量が４千以上もの複雑なタンパク質が、生命活動に必要なだけ揃う可能性は非常に低いでしょう。複数のタンパク質の組み合せが活性化するには、それに至る様々な物質において、生命へと向かわせる方向に舵をとる作用があることは必須です。そうであれば、物質の基本にも生命への方向性が秘められている可能性があります。だからこそ、エントロピーが増加する傾向に反して、物質の塊が複雑になっていくという不思議な動きができるのであり、試行錯誤が繰り返されるなかで、生体を構成するタンパク質が形となりえたと考えます。つまり、生命への方向をもつ作用が物質にあって、それが長い間に方向を少しずつ生命に適合させた結果、たんぱく質や脂肪などの非常に複雑な分子の組み合わせにまで成長したことになります。

ここで宇宙にある物質を最初からもう一度考え直してみます。すべての物質の基本にある原子において、その原子核の陽子の数によって原子としての性質が決まるということが一般に知られています。原子ごとの陽子が単体としては特に違いがないとすれば、陽子の数が増えることによってのみ性質の違いが生じていることになります。もしかすると陽子には性質をもたらす要因となる微弱振動があって、その振動の重なり方によって性質が現われると考えてもよいはずです。さらに、陽子にある振動には生命の基になる更に微弱な「意識への振動（ゆらぎ）」が重なり合っていて、この振動が共鳴することで生命への選択が行われるという仮説を考えます。

ここで原子核の内部に潜む意識のゆらぎは、まだ生命に至るものではなく、「生きる意識」となる前段階にあるものです。これは「意識になる前のゆらぎ（Pre-Conscious Fluctuation）」あるいは「意識となる量子（意識量子）（Pre-Conscious Quantum）」というものであり、これを物質の根源にあると仮定したほうが、生命発生に向かう自発的な動きを説明しやすいと考えます。つまり、すべての物質にこの意識量子の振動があって、それは生物を中心化している「生きる意識」の前段階であり、生命体とはそこに含まれるすべての意識量子の共鳴によって１つに中心化したものと考えます。おそらくこのような振動は人間の作る測定器では測れないほど微弱なものであると推測します。（注、前意識は精神分析などで別の意味をもつので、以下ここでは意識量子としておきます）

すなわち、宇宙のすべての物質には、エントロピーの増大する法則に逆らう意識量子があって、その「ゆらぎ」による共鳴があると仮定することになります。１つ１つの原子内部の中心に、現状の科学では捉えられない、微弱な揺らぎがあるとすると、物質が数多く集まることで「ゆらぎ」の共鳴が生じて、その方向性が徐々に現われることになります。その方向は生命へと調和していく方への選択です。つまり、すでに宇宙には生命への道が用意されていて、生命発生は決められているという考え方です。そして、物質が集まる経過で微弱なゆらぎが共鳴して生命が生じる歩みは、長い経過で多くの偶然の機会を利用しながら、一貫して継続して選択されていたからこそ、生命が生じたことになります。微弱なゆらぎであるが故に、生命への歩みが形をなすには、相当に多くの意識量子が集まり徐々に効率化して共鳴することが必要です。閉じた塊になって中心化を濃くする過程で、生命に必要なタンパク質が揃ってきて、組織のまとまりが構成されて、何らかの閾値を越えることで中心に「生きる意識」が生じて、それが１つの塊を制御して生命が誕生したことになります。

上記のことをまとめると、この意識量子を有する物質というものの属性として、まず集まってくると互いに共鳴しあって方向性が現われるという性質を持つこと、そこに共鳴する他の物質を引き付けるという性質があること、そして共鳴する波動の中にその状況の情報を記憶する何らの機能があると考えられます。あらゆる偶然の機会において物質が集まって共鳴して、結合や離反を経験する選択の成果を、意識量子の波動に蓄積しているということです。少なくとも現時点の状態に関わる痕跡を残しているはずです。その少し前との比較において、状態の変化にある様々な機会に対して複雑な方に応じるように進めているはずです。そこに認識と選択のようなものがなければ、時間の経過において不可逆的に、生命の方向へと複雑になっていけないと考えます。すなわち、前の状態から現在が複雑になるには、その状態が前より複雑であり生命への可能性であるとする比較をもって変化へ対応する必要があるはずです。これらの成果が徐々に生命の方向へ上昇する歩みを加速して、閉じた物体の塊に中心が生じて生命が実現したことになります。そして、その生命物質が共鳴する中心にある「生きる意識」は、生物となってからも引き続き意識の程度を上昇させ、組織を複雑にして人間に至ります。現在の人間の意識は、「生きる意識」そのものを自覚するのではなく、主体となる自己を自覚する意識にまできていることになります。ここで、生命としての自律的な活性化とは何かというと、多くの意識量子が共鳴しながら中心化していく過程で生み出された「生きる意識」が、物質どうしの結合や反発を繰り返す循環を利用して、生命としての方向性を維持しようとすること、この特有の性質そのものであることになります。

すべての物質にあると考えた意識量子の持つ属性は、基本的に集まって組織化し複雑になっていく、反エントロピー的な方向性を持つものです。この動きは多くの意識量子が「生きる意識」として１つに統合されてからでも作用していて、それが生物の進化という現象になっています。言い換えれば、生物の進化とは意識量子の共鳴体である「生きる意識」が、時間をかけて機能を複雑にすることで、中心への集束の密度を高くしている現象です。そして、意識量子のもつ傾向は「生きる意識」となってからも継続していて、中心への集束を高めることで意識の段階を上昇させています。例えば、動物の神経系における進化を考えると、個体に機能を追加する変化が起こると、その組織の複雑さの程度が増すと同時に、その複雑になった個体を制御するために、より中心化を充実させる必要が生じます。これが「生きる意識」の上昇という方向になったと推測できます。言い換えると、「生きる意識」が持つ上昇への方向性が、生物の組織をゆっくりと複雑にさせていき、その複雑さへの対応として、より中心への力を集中させて密度が高くなり、その結果「生きる意識」も上昇したと推測されます。つまり生物の進化において、その形態の「複雑さ」の程度と中心化する「意識」の上昇ということが、並行して同時的に進行したことになります。

そうなると、生物における意識の上昇のメカニズムは、動物にあった神経系の発達に置き換えられるかもしれません。私たち人間に至るまでの進化の経過を、無脊椎動物、節足動物、脊椎動物などの経過で考えると、脳を含む神経システムの発達は、個体が感覚器官との相互関係で自己の意識を自覚するまで、神経機能を複雑にしながら中心へ向かう意識が上昇していく段階として見ることができます。人間の大脳は数百億もの神経細胞と周辺細胞（グリア細胞等）によって構成されていて、その脳が言語や思考を獲得して、現在の生物で最も複雑な脳の機能になっています。このように生物が複雑になってきたのは、「生きる意識」に上昇する要因があって、その試行錯誤の成果ということになります。宇宙に生命が発生したというだけでなく、その生命が知的生命にまで至った流れがあるという事実から、宇宙には本質的に生命が発生するプロセスがあって、生命は組織を複雑化して意識を上昇させ、知性を持ち思考する人間になり、その人間がもっとその先まで進化する既存の流れが宇宙にあることになります。

この観点から生物の進化をみると、段階ごとの上昇は知的な特徴を付随する方向に決まっているようです。そして、各段階にいる生物は生きることを維持するための選択と子孫を残すことが課されます。その個体は自己に課せられた流れにあって、自己で選択し判断する部分について、集中的な努力をすることになります。私たち人間でいえば、生命としての決められた流れが意識の上昇にあるならば、未来の方向へと選択するべき行動があるはずです。しかし、ここで生物全体に関わっている、生きる状態を継続することに固執する「生きる意識」にある本質は、自己を明確に意識した人間にもまだ見えていません。私たちはこの課題について考える必要があります。物質の意識量子の集まりが生きる意識となり、生きる意識が自己を自覚する意識を目覚めさせ、その先の意識へと継続する流れに沿って未来があるはずです。人間となって自己を自覚した意識になっても、意識量子の共鳴は続いているはずです。

ここで私が思うに、人間の意識に働く基本的な作用は「気づく意識」と「つなぐ意識」ではないでしょうか。人間は仲間としてまとまろうとする傾向があって、集団となり組織化して社会をなしています。共鳴して集まることは意識量子からずっと続いている傾向です。意識量子の共鳴によって生じた方向性をもつエネルギー作用は、物質的な部分で作用しているだけでなく、人間において互いに「気づく意識」と「つなぐ意識」になって、心や精神の結びつきを深めていくはずです。すべての物質の根底に意識量子という方向性があり、その情報を蓄積（あるいは何処かに共有）するゆらぎがあって、このゆらぎが生命を生じさせて知的生命までになった流れを支えています。そうであれば、意識を上昇させる方向に沿って、人間どうしがつながる未来という可能性はかなりあると思えます。
